Excellent album by a great actress-singer.......2007-05-16

I got into Japanese music and film in 1993, starting with Tetsuo-The Iron Man. I ate up everything I could after that, finding Zero Woman and Miki Sugimoto. After that, I then found Lady Snowblood, and thus Kaji Meiko, who then became the love of my life [I was in junior high]. Her acting is piercing, her voice is haunting and very comforting. I suggest you buy this CD, and maybe some of her movies, before you see something like...Kill Bill.

Okay, I know a lot of people now know of Kaji Meiko from the Tarantino movies, which is fine, though his movies simply aren't. His ultra-violence is old hat, his movies dont do his inspirations justice by making something unique, rather than giving the West simply something they weren't "aware" of, repacking characters and whole premises on various "cult" films he loves. Enough of this. Kaji Meiko is a beautiful soul, try to find an interview of her, or footage of seeing her off screen. Wonderful.

I know everyone and their brother knows these songs from Kill Bill... but these songs are over 30 years old from a then little known revenge movie called Lady Snowblood... Check that movie out to get the true context with these songs.

Outstanding CD. Although pricey, the purchaser will find tracks that are very enjoyable and will ultimately conclude that the CD was well worth the purchase price. If you like her song that was including on the Kill Bill soundtrack, there are better songs that exist on this CD.

I first heard Meiko Kaji on the Kill Bill albums, with the songs: Urami Bushi and Flower of Carnage (Shura no Hana).
Zenkyokusyu can only be described as a magnificent pice of art worthy of anyone's attention.

It is a complete collection of paradoxes:
Brooding yet vivacious...
Mellow yet somehow coarse...
Modern likewise traditional...

Zenkyokusyu is the 'canvas' while our mind is the 'paint brush', craving for you to pick it up, and fabricate your own magnificent dreamscape...

For me, it evokes the most exquisite visions of a troupe of tempting geishas engaged in mesmeric trance deep within the wilds of Japan itself... At other times it brings me back to earth and suddenly, I am within a stylish lounge bar in Tokyo city with Meiko herself dressed in a swishy ebony dress and playing for the whole crowd...
