I picked this cd up because I am a big fan of Gaahl. Once again Gaahl provides a more than solid vocal apparition to this haunting project. The layered melodies of the guitars and vox generate the feeling of a forlorn soul in the listener. The entire cd is fantastic (even the single riff outro that drones for 10 min. which is track 8) and worthy of many spins in your stereo if you are into old school norwegian black metal. Key tracks for me are 1, 4 (the title track), and 7. If you are into early gorgoroth check this out.

Masterpiece!.......2002-05-26

First of all I thought it really surprising to find this album not reviewed, since it is out for a while now and, above all, a true masterpiece of darkness.
Being the follow-up of the 1995 release Til Evighet, frontman Gaahl, also active for Gorgoroth, recruted three new members and recorded this album in 1999 for Hammerheart.
The sound is much better than on their first one, the instruments and layers are all well discernible, but it's still raw and necro, not suitable for people only into Cradle of Filth or Dimmu. Adherents of "true" or "norwegian" black metal on the other hand, should grab their shovels and try to dig it up at their local graveyard.
Gaahl's vocals are great, raspy voice and dark chanting, helping to create the utter darkness that radiates from this record. Songs vary from slow to blast speed and are all packed with hypnotizing, haunting riffs. Gaahl build enough variation in the songs to keep them interesting, but not so much that it destroys the repetitive, hypnotic quality often found in this music.
Bands that come to mind when listening Till Et Annet are old Darkthrone and older Burzum (listen to In I Slottet Fra Droemmen and then to Sonar Dreyri to see what I mean...) and of course early Gorgoroth.
Till Et Annet offers nothing new, but those liking black metal as it was played in the beginning of the 90's: Get it!
