    5 out of 5 stars Don't Forget Your Medicine.......2006-10-18

Sludge metal is one of the most unique and defying forms of music out there, and it was also some of the first music to come out there. Ever since Black Sabbath established the genre with their signature "Sweet Leaf" song, it has gotten respect, especially from the South.

Eyehategod is one of these bands, and mixed the sludge sound with elements of 80's hardcore punk to make something that broke barriers in the underground. True, they may not be as diverse in their music as say, Acid Bath or Soilent Green, but their music played a major role.

Downtuned guitars, slow tempos and riffs make Eyehategod who they are. Music by stoners for stoners. It's brilliant. "Shop Lift" and "White N*gger" are just two examples of the brilliance of this CD. And note, the production isn't good, but why even bother? If you enjoy it slow, sludgy, and full of depth, "Take As Needed For Pain" is your prescription.

4 out of 5 stars This broke some kind of ground........2006-10-10

Quite loud and akward, words cannot really describe it.
They have a sound all their own. Like said - "disturbance" is very creepy. Your woofers may not survive the bass in this CD. It is not some "bass" CD per se, but the bass is killer.

The overall sound is very powerful, yet not real fast. All the noise of speed metal without the speed.
It is good, but do not even try to understand the format of the lyrics. They are there, but not in order.

5 out of 5 stars Essential Bower Power.......2006-05-06

Out of all the EHG albums this one stands out the most and the only one you really need.Note that none of there albums suck its just that this one is the essential.Ifit comes down to purchsing one of there albums get this one and if they dont have it get Dopesick instead. So what do you get from an EHG album? Sick sludged out undecipherable vocals downtuned slightly distorted bass lines and feedback and guitar riffs more brutal than a Crowbar album. The albums excellent with White N*gger,Kill Your Boss,30 dollar bag, every song is great especially the hillarious Laugh It Off.Only problem i have with the album is theres no lyrics with such funny awesome songs names you wanna know what Mikes saying.Threw out the whole album i could only make out the following....Vagina, i wanna get high,as well as her warm piss.Yeah if you like sludge doom you owe it to yourself to pick this one up.

5 out of 5 stars killer band, killer awesome.......2005-12-15

my fave ehg album, no doubt...

these guys take blag flag, black sabbath, the melvins and lynyrd skynyrd, and blend it all together...

it's awesome to see a band, in a genre like this, incorporate that undeniable southern rock groove into their music (just listen to the grooves in blank, white n*gger, and crimes against skin)...

these are a few reasons why ehg is one of my fave bands...

4 out of 5 stars good record, could use more variation.......2005-07-16

Opening with probably the best song on the album, "blank," 'take as needed for pain' is a good album with a screeching dirty vocals, nasty lyrics, and a band that shifts between heavy hardcore crossover and heavy blues driven sludge. some of the riffs are really great, with good use of the blues scales, but a lot of them sound very similar. i like how some of the songs start with a great bass line, but usualy the songs wear thin after a while. still its a good sludge record, but i prefer Grief.
