Editorial Reviews
From Run-D.M.C.'s unlikely courtship of Aerosmith to Anthrax's union with Public Enemy, seemingly polar opposites have spawned a whole musical genre popularized by the likes of Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock. Crazy Town's The Gift of the Game neatly slots into the rap-rock category. They obviously carry some clout, amassing an impressive guest roster for a debut album, including godfathers of the scene Red Hot Chili Peppers on stand-out track "Butterfly" and KRS-One on the storming "B-Boy 2000." As debut albums go, this is about as accomplished and cocksure as you get. --Helen Marquis

The Secret of "Butterfly" that no one knew............2007-02-24
The awesome little bass line combo with the guitar stylings of the song sounds awesome right? One has to admit the rapping is EXTREMELY sub-par. We all know that's not why this song got popular. The first time I heard this song, I thought the groove was great and that it was just a plain well put together song with two good parts weaved together that worked perfectly: guitar and bass. It sounded really talented.
Here's the truth:
THIS SONG IS A COMPLETE COPY FROM A PART OF A RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS SONG.
That's right. Crazy Town COMPLETELY lifted the Bass and guitar part from the song "Pretty Little Ditty" by RHCP which can be found on Mother's Milk. There is only 1 note difference (I believe the rule of plagiarism is 3-5 words before it becomes stealing another's ideas) You can even hear the exact rip off from the 30 second snippet on ITunes. Go ahead! Listen to it! Look up the album "Mother's Milk" by RHCP and then the song "Pretty Little Ditty" I'm very angry that Crazy Town made so much money on a song that was based on all-out theft of talented musicians.
I had a feeling that that "crazy" bassline could only have been concocted by Flea and that only John Frusciante can create such a simplistic but heartfelt guitar part. This theft only describes the state of music today. Too bad.....Find your own talent you frauds!!!!
Excellent.......2006-08-04

Bottom line is this is a complete waste. I hate rap but Id rather listen to real rap than sink so low that i would listen to this crap.

These guys are horrible live.......2004-10-02
AWESOME Rap-Metal CD!!.......2003-11-26
This CD has a great beat and a great varietty of music. They're not *too* heavy with the guitar, just some good melodic riffs. Great DJ, and Great drum-beat. If you're into Rap-Metal this CD is a good one to check out ... the only song on the CD I really don't care for is Think Fast, doesn't flow well IMO. But out of all the tracks on the CD, that's not a bad deal. Worth the money!!
Not GOOD...........2001-09-26
this CD ROCKS!!.......2001-05-14
THEY WILL DEFINITELY BE A ONE HIT WONDER.......2001-03-09
"Butterfly" is a great rap song, the video is beautiful, the band is talented, unfortunately they are wasted in this album with hard bang rock with no rhythm, hooks, or talent.
"Butterfly" is the ONLY standout song here, and this will be very misleading to people who buy this album, because the rest of this album has no relation to this song.
You can tell by the awful cover art that you are getting into some serious dark rock territory.
If you are POP music fan like me, buy the single and do not waste your money on this garbage.

A Gift of Intruments.......2006-04-18
As I said, a majority of the songs on this CD are instrumentals, using most of the time a piano, violin, or cello as the focal point. To add, there are quite a few tracks on this album, twenty-seven in total, and none of them are script tracks, as Geneon (this CD is from Bandai) is known for putting on their anime soundtracks. Very few of the songs are longer than two minutes; in fact, only six of them go beyond that point. But even some of the shorter songs have something worth listening to, especially tracks twenty-six and twenty-seven, the opening and ending themes, respectively, which are the only two tracks with vocals. Other good tracks are "01: Voyage" which is an inspirational orchestral track and a great intro to a good CD, especially when the cello makes its appearance; "03: Children of Befort", the longest track on the CD at nearly eight minutes, is a haunting piece, which has an accompanying piano version later on (track 19), which is also pretty good; "12: Soran and Sess", an upbeat mechanical-sounding song that, for some reason, caught my ear instantly; and the cello version of an earlier track entitled "06: Helga" (the piano version is track 18). Beyond that, though, there are actually few skip-tracks on this CD. If I had to name a couple, though, it would be the second and seventeenth, as very little in these two tracks have any appeal, but that is more of a personal opinion.
In the end, when I finally took the headphones off, I was satisfied with the fact that I bought the special edition of Fantastic Children, because the CD was actually worth the extra money spent. It may not be a masterpiece, but it has a lot of worth when you want something light and easy to listen to, or if you truly enjoy the Fantastic Children anime (which I have yet to watch as of the time of this review). I don't know if I could recommend it as a stand-alone purchase, though, as the vast number of shorter tracks do make it feel a bit cheap at times, which is the reason why I didn't give it five stars. This is a good companion to what is a promising anime.
