One of the Greatest Rock Albums Ever!.......2007-03-19

If you never got to see TAD live, this will give you a hint of the power they could unleash. The band is just BALLSY with absolutely stellar drumming by Mr. Josh Sinder. The production is spot on and this disc is one of my "test recordings" that I use when listening to new sound gear I'm purchasing. A great bunch of songs to have on your I-Pod during a hard work out, or interstate crime spree!

The True Seattle.......2006-07-28

I first remember hearing TAD when I went to see the movie 'Brainscan' when I was 15; "Grease Box" was played over the end credits of the movie. I thought the song was excellent, and I absolutely HAD to buy the album it came from. It may sound silly to younger people, but besides word of mouth, that's often how we heard of new bands back then...this predates mp3s.

Anyway, TAD are a canonical example of '90s grunge/metal done flawlessly. There's plenty of thrash metal influences to be found on this album, along with references to post-punk and other early alternative bands. Aside from some inevtiable 1990's flannel-covered cheese, this album is just about perfect.

History is indeed written by winners, even music history. By "winning" I of course mean the thing that all bands dream of: long-lasting popularity for future generations. Unfortunately, TAD wasn't one of those bands...although they should've been.

You like Testament, Metallica, Exhorder, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, or The Melvins? You'll most definitely dig this.

P.S. - I shouldn't neglect to mention that I was shocked to see that this album is out-of-print, which is funny because I remember my local Wherehouse Music consistently had about two copies in stock. Oh well, get it before it's gone forever! [That is until it's reissued by some random Canadian indie label.]

Grunge doesn't get any heavier than this..........2005-04-27

Those who have the nerve to call all those new bands (3 Doors Down, Nickelback, Alter Bridge...) "grunge" should listen to the mighty Tad and learn what grunge is REALLY all about. Tad puts all those college crybabies to shame and makes them sound like f**king Westlife! Yes, grunge can be massively heavy and those 4 Seattle heavyweights show it, pound for pound, in their best work to date. A solid album, with enough variety to please any hard rock fan. Check out the power of "Grease Box", the punk fury of "Throat Locust", the nice piano touches in "Luminol" (my personal favorite), the crescendo emotion of "Paregoric", the sludgy mayhem of "Pansy" and the great melodic finale of "Gouge".

This is grunge at its very heavy best, this side of Melvins, Alice in Chains and early Soundgarden. Ya can never go wrong with the Tadster...

It's a "Tad" bit heavy........2004-04-28

This is a pretty sweet, yet forgotten album. "Tad" normally get catagorized as grunge, and though they are, they could also be metal too. In fact it really is more metal, just played by guys wearing flannel. Not alot of smash hits came from this album, but "Grease Box", "Leafy Incline", and "Gouge" are a few of my favorites. "Luminol" has some nice touches too. As a whole though it's a great listen. This was also produced by J Mascis of "Dinosaur Jr." fame, not that it sounds anything like them. Worth checking out if you ever come across it.

This is heavy.......2002-08-14

I love most of the stuff that came out of the Seattle area in the early '90s. This came out a little later ('94) when the mighty Tad was finally signed to a major label, and J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. (check them out too) produced it.
Well... all I can say is that this is my favorite kind of musical heaviness. Redneck lyrics delivered (occasionally) with a Lemmy/Hetfield-type vocal inflection... Distorted guitars & bass (nothing new, but here just LETHAL)... also, the drummer is pretty good, and uses double bass drums (YESSS!!!) in his original yet wankless patterns. I LOVE THESE GUYS - but only for this album and 8-Way Santa, the album that preceded it. The others didn't catch my ear as much.
OK, finally, no band just LOOKS as heavy as these guys do. They look like they're well used to smashing their tools of the trade; as others have said, they look like Northwest lumberjacks. TAD = HEAVY!!! BUY THIS ALBUM!!!
