Could have been a great band..........2006-10-11

I wish there was more than just this EP. Four great songs that are easily the best of the three KISS-styled EPs that the Melvins put out. Dale seems to be the only one who took his homework seriously. Buzzo gave us one good track, one funny track, and a couple eh-so-so tracks; Joe wanked; Dale dug down deep and pulled out something dark, melancholic and tasty. Somewhat reminiscent of Acid King, though a little less "stoner".

Known as the precision-powerhouse drummer for the Melvins, Dale Crover uses his solo EP to show off some decidedly secondary skills (guitar, vox). Could have been much better.

Dale dominates.......2005-05-24

Way back when, The Melvins decided to be like KISS and have each member make an EP with no help from the rest of the band. Dale teamed with his now ex-wife Debbi Shane and made this record.

Hex Me: Hex is an instumental track featuring chugging riffs and solid drumming 4/5

Dead Wipe: Slightly more laid back than Hex Me, Dead wipe is an excellent track. 5/5

Respite: Like it's name, respite is the most mellow track on the album. solid riffs and drums make it a keeper. 5/5

Hurter: Dale showcases his excellent drumming skills and makes a "middle-of-the-road" song that ranges from mellow to aggressiveness that slowly fades while being accompanied by a scream. 5/5

Of the three, Dale delivers the most focused EP featuring grunge-tastic guitar work, solid drumming and song writing. Dale's and King Buzzo's EPs are truly some of the best music i've ever heard.

I suggest buying both this and Buzz's EP while skipping Joe's.

Wow what an excellent little ep from the melvins multi talented drummer. These songs rock!! they are definately grunge, no other word for them. Mediocre lyrics and riffs, which are constructed very well and performed beautifully. Simple yet so very effective! Definately the best of the 3 solo eps from the melvins, dale crover shows us he's not just an awesome drummer but an accomplished song writer in his genre.

Dale Crover has assembled a suprisingly good collection of mind melting hard rock with this solo offering.Easily the heaviest of the three solo albums,and arguably the best.Although its hard to say that for sure because each one of them has its own personality and sound.Another reviewer said its the most accessible of the albums and i have to say that is true.The sound on this one is probaly the closest thing to any of the melvins previous work that you are going to find on any of the solo projects.And just in case you havent noticed on the band records ,Dale is an awesome singer.Pick this up for sure ,but it is really best purchased with King Buzzo and Joe Prestons eps for maximum effect.
