Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Giant album in more ways than one........2006-04-30

This is one of the best melodic hard rock offerings from the late 80's. Superb guitar work with complementing keyboards (not over excesive) and one of the best AOR voices in the game. Songs are superb (except for one or two fillers).
The song "Innocent days" is my favorite but "I'm a believer" is a strong rockin tune too. Pick of the ballads would be "I'll see you in my dreams". "It takes two" is also a strong favorite. The minimal synths on this album means it doesn't have that dated sound like some of Leppard's stuff from that era. If Giant took the best songs from this album and "time to burn" and added a few knew songs to form a 'best of' CD, i think it could easily be one of the top 5 hard rock "best of" type albums of all time.

5 out of 5 stars The Huff Brothers do it again........2005-06-03

If Dan Huff had not been such a great producer (Wynnona/Keith Urban/Montgomery Gentry/ Trace Atkins/Jo Dee Messina) he could have been a Rock Star. His playing has earned him the CMA's Award for "Best Musician in Nashville" and this album shows why.

I read the review by this Don Scott guy and would ask him which Bill Lane he is speaking of as I know 5 myself and all of them are guitar pickers. There is the Bill Lane from the Boston area, Bill Lane from LA and NY who is an engiineer, and Bill Lane of Bleu Lane in Nashville who is daggone great guitar player. Some one told me that David Huff was slated for producing Bleu Lane's first major label release. This in no way approaches this guys comments but from where I am listening the Huff's did a dadgum great job on their own before any affilliation with Terry Thomas too.

Giant featured the late Van Stephenson of Blackhawk on backing vocals and keyboards. The Huffs writing and playing comes through on this album and their other two albums for different labels that track the band from their California beginnings to their Nashville sessions with just about every major album over the past couple of years. Again this album shows why.

5 out of 5 stars Bill Lane on lead guitar.......2004-11-21

The two Giant albums have some of the best vocals, guitar playing and writing I have ever heard. Unknown to most people is that Bill Lane a.k.a. Terry Thomas actually did the lead guitar playing on the albums. Listen to the lead guitar playing on Bleu Lane that features Bill on lead and you will hear the similarities.

5 out of 5 stars I'm A Believer..........2004-04-30

...in Giant. They know how to make REAL music. Songs like these never die, and as music changes through the years, songs like these only get better and better when we look back on them. This album is definately the best of all the Giant albums. My introduction to Giant was actually their song Stay from Time to Burn. It hooked me from the first notes, and soon I was listening to Gian all the time. The skills of the band are amazing. They can write a song that truly touches the heart through the color of the lyrics and emotion in the tone of the voices. Listen to IT Takes Two- truly the best example of all their talent combined. The vocals are absolutely great and the sound is so clean and clear. The power of the lyrics and the clarity of the vocals combined enter straight to the soul on the winds of emotion. The guitar work on the album makes me listen in awe at Dann Huff and wonder why I ever attempted the instrument myself. He is definately a legend in the making. This CD is the best way you could spend you money right now!

5 out of 5 stars Never a Dull Moment.......2003-07-04

Few albums grow on you like this one..........the guitar , bass , keyboards, drums all click to a heartbeat that has original style electrifying your brain with every song...........spirit of Rock and Roll with a variety of approaches from mild to "let's get it on type spirit". I particularly like "Hold Back the Night" for the easy intro and the full force "plunge" it takes the beat to...........so what do you think.....sample some.........let me know if ya need other suggestions...
"Time to Burn" was the next release and is ALSO excellent "craftsmanship".

Easily Canada's best kept secret in the AOR/hard rock world. Consider this Canada's answer... and a very enthusiastic one at that, to Giant's "Last of the runaways" or Signal's "Loud & Clear". Only... believe it or not, the production values on this 1992 debut greatly surpassed those heard of Giant's debut. Imagine even more power-infused backing gang vocals, crystal clear production, and one AOR anthem after another that fails to let up. Now add the melodic finesse of Hardline's debut, and you've got a clear idea of where this classic is headed. Easily one of the finest moments in AOR history. Featuring Mike Slamer, who was also responsible for hits by House of Lords, Steelhouse Lane, and countless others. 10 tracks including: Edge of a heartbeat, It's only love, Last night, Addicted, Skin and bones, Nobody's hero, and more. Known a few years earlier in Canada as "The Works" (released one album under that name in 1989). Out of print.
