Sassy Asians Singing Sassy Songs.......2005-08-25
I bought this as a birthday gift to myself- because i'm a dork, yes- and i thought it was great! of course, hard to understand, bacause i don't speak japanese. but the music is both upbeat and sometimes angsty. i like it a lot. ^^ my only complaint are the drawings instead of pictures of the band members.

Album Description
When the book of hip-hop is written, the world famous Beatnuts will have the right to an entire chapter. To understand them is to understand hip-hop music in its rawest inception. No bling-bling, no trendy sounds of the moment and no less than a good time is what's come to be expected from these diversified beat-makers. Combining a gold-miners intuition for finding the rarest samples with the ability to turn the most subtle sounds into a full blown masterpiece, The Beatnuts are legends in hip-hop culture. With their 7th album Milk Me, The Nuts are back to reclaim their place in hip-hop history.
Customer Reviews:
I'm Nuts for The Beatnuts.......2005-11-22
These cats by far have to be my favorite rap group and producers. Since my first listen to Intoxicated Demons back in the early 90's I was an instant fan and I have followed these guys to the present date. Milk Me is an awesome album and I truly was happy when it came out last year (2004). I am proud to say I own every one of their 7 classic albums. These guys have stayed consistent and real to this game we all call hip-hop. They keep their sound original and creative. Ju Ju and Phycho Les are so fun on the MIC but they both have a hardcore appeal. They can flip club music and have put out music with a semi-mainstream appeal to the radio masses. They deserve mad respect from the hip-hop community.
Milk Me is another well put together album from the World Famous Crazy Cats from Corona, Queens. The lyrics are on point and the beats are nuts, I must say I can listen to any BEATNUTS album from start to finish on repeat. So to say there really isn't a track on Milk Me that is wack. Milk Me is totally worth ur flow, whether you buy it new or used!! Only wish now is for them to do a show in San Diego where I notice The Nuts get mad love in our club scene.
SUPPORT!
Album of the year.......2004-09-05
The beatnuts have done it again, with the funkiest beats ever known to the rap world. I don't need to write anything else, you know everything the beatnuts put out is a 5 star album
Beatnut haters can "Take it or Squeeze it" or "Milk Me"!.......2004-09-02
I've been waiting for years for another Beatnuts joint. FINALLY its here!BUY THIS ALBUM, put it in the best system you got, get lifted, and listen to it staight through from the Intro to the "Hidden Track" at the end. This album is worth every penny. My personal favorite has got to be "Madness". JuJu has stepped it up lyrically every album, and has become one of the best MC's in the game. And if you have never seen the Beatnuts live in concert, I feel sorry for you. Phycho Les and JuJu, if you read this, make sure you come to DETROIT SOON!
Once again..It's Tha Nuts.......2004-09-02
Alright, I'll keep this brief. This album is actually VERY GOOD. The only thing I've noticed different in comparison to The Originators is the production is better on that album. Their tracks are usually more rawer than this album. Lyrically, nothing's changed still taking you on a flight through a comical storm of sexin, drinking, and smoking. Life's little nessicities, you know. I'm still a Beatnuts fan though. Been one since the Intox Demons EP. Big Ju & Psych didn't let me down on this one. Pick it up, The LP is truely HOT. Especially, the U Nomsayin joint. Parking lot pimps, add this to your collection. Buy it.
THE NUTS ARE AT IT AGAIN.......2004-09-01
THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS ALBUM, IS GENIOUS. WHAT I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT BEATNUT ALBUMS IS THAT NO TWO ARE ALIKE, THEY ALL HAVE THEYRE OWN FEEL TO THEM. THIS ONE IS NO EXCEPTION, EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO IT I LIKE MORE THAN THE LAST TIME I HEARD IT. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY TRUE BEATNUT FAN. IF BY SOME SLIM CHANCE THAT LES OR JUJU READ THIS, PLEASE DONT STOP. YOU GUYS ARE THE REASON I STILL HAVE SOME HOPE FOR HIP HOP

another good album from No Limit.......2000-02-11
I read these reviews from people, and I just don't understand how they can give low scores. This cd is very good. Track 1 is good, 2 has a beat similar to that of the song "I Want It All" by Warren G, and Mack 10. Tracks 3,4,5,6, and 7 are good, 8 and 9 are average, and 10-18 are good. I'm a no limit fan, and whoever else is a fan, then you will like this cd. If you're not a no limit fan, you still might like this cd. It does have good lyrics to it, and it's just very easy to listen to. The beats just flow into your head. No Limit 2000. [[\] [[] [[_ [[ [[\/] [[ "[". Hoody Hoo.

much better than i expected from something coming from the no limit camp. i haven't been impressed with them at all lately but this could mark the start of something new at no limit... real lyrics! i can only stand so much ugh! and this definitely is a welcome change

Skull has some good lyrics his tracks just wasn't all that good except "where you from" if all his songs had beats like that he'd be untouchable.

I don't why everybody's dissing this cd. Skull brings all the heat, this is a great release from No Limit.

Customer Reviews:
Witchfinder General - 'Death Penalty' (Heavy Metal).......2006-07-10
Originally put out in 1982,this was the Witchfinder's first of two 'proper' releases.Top notch NWOBHM/doom metal to be fully experienced here.Best tunes include "Invisible Hate",title track "Death Penalty",the powerful "Burning A Sinner" and "R.I.P.".Line-up:Zeeb Parkes-vocals,Phil Cope-guitar,Woolfy Trope-bass and Graham Ditchfield-drums.This is WELL worth checking out.Should appeal to fans of Iron Maiden,Saint Vitus,Saxon,Grim Reaper and possibly Candlemass.A should-have.
Under appreciated Sabbath-y NWOBHM.......2006-03-06
Witchfinder General was one of those NWOBHM bands that came and went without much notice, especially in the US, only to be rediscovered by metal fans sometime after their break up. Fortunately, Witchfinder General had the good sense not to attempt a reformation and embarass themselves trying to capitalize on the NWOBHM tag. If you're a fan of Ozzy-era Black Sabbath, chances are you'll find something to enjoy here. Some reviewers have made notes about the bands supposedly weak musicianship, but I think the band's playing mainly sounds sort of weak because of the demo-style production. There are some cool Sabbath-esque riffs all over this disc. The lyrics are entirely different matter, though. Lines like "Look out for me, let's trip on LSD!" make me wonder if these guys were goofy or just sort of immature in a teenage "I'm so bad, I like getting wasted" type of way. The cover art leaves me with the same question. Hey, I enjoy a naked lady as much as everyone else, and if I were 16 I'd be really impressed, but now, as I approach 30, I just kinda smile and roll my eyes. But whatever, these things are hardly bad. The music makes up for any shortcomings the band might have had.
Regardless of the shabby workmanship, still quite good........2003-05-16
The first release from Witchfinder General introduces the listener to some unique musical and vocal stylings that some will compare favorably to Black Sabbath. I don't believe that a realistic comparison can honestly be made between the two bands due to the fact that WG displays a Sabbath-like flavour yet remains quite a bit out of their depth when matched against the Osbourne-Iommi-Butler-Ward efforts. Regardless, it is still a lot of fun to listen to as a result of Zeeb Parkes' unusual vocal style layered over some traditional early 70's metal-ish bass lines, beats, and riffs. "R.I.P" has a "Children of the Grave" bent note guitar tweak that is very noticeable, yet the song is quite different otherwise. Standout songs are "Invisible Hate", "Free Country", and... well... actually they all have their good points. In a nutshell, it was a welcome and unique addition to my 80's metal collection when I first picked up the vinyl edition, and the only downside I can make you aware of is the poor recording/mixing quality and an average level of technical accuracy musically. If you get it, based on my descriptions and taking into consideration my warnings, I don't think you will feel cheated in the slightest. Buy it if you are of a mind and you won't regret it.
The missing link between BLACK SABBATH and CATHEDRAL.......2002-11-24
When I bought this album I was about 13 and a huge Black sabbath fan!How could I resist the name of the band and most of all the cover at that age-by the way I'm not Nicole but Phil, Nicole's husband.Witchfinder General is one of the first Black Sabbath's clones, the voice is VERY close to Ozzy's, the riffs are VERY close to IOMMI's-the solos are pretty FAR but anyway..., the songs are VERY Sabbath-alike.
Technicaly speaking, those guys are bad but I think it's the whole package that makes it worth.
It's fun(dark but fun),pretty heavy and once again...the cover is just so hilarious.
Witchfinder general certainly didn't invent the powder but probably showed the way to bands like TROUBLE, St VITUS or even the great CATHEDRAL.
Anyway W.G. was doing Black Sabbath when Black sabbath wasn't doing it anymore.
If you want to hear the best Witchfinder General disc..........2002-07-31
This is it. Friends Of Hell was cool, but this is my favourite of the 2. This one is a little less Black Sabbath sounding Friends Of Hell then the second, but STILL has that vibe. I think the title track Witchfinder General is their standout, and the one most people have heard.
Unlike the second disc (Friends Of Hell) I like all the tracks on this one. The guitar tone was even better on this one for some reason. The subject matter is pretty much what most of the bands were singing about at the time, drugs, ect... but not bad.
They always had heavier looking album covers then the music anyway. This one only features one nakad chick, front and back.
Still not PC, but again, not as shocking as when it first came out in the early 80s.
I've been listening to these guys since I was an early teen back in the day when it was still new in fresh. Now that I'm in my 30s, I find I STILL listen to them constantly.
If you like Sabbath, or a score of other doom/stoner bands, I think you'll really dig this. The only annoying part I find is Zeebs queal/queech on Invisable Hate. Not sure why they didn't fix that in the studio to begin with. You'll know when you hear it. Other then that, I'm into it. One of a long list of my favorite albums of all time.

Album Description
After years of laying the groundwork including touring, MC battles, mix-show play and circulating underground CDs, THE FRONTLINE present their Penalty Recordings/Infrared Music debut, "Now U Know" featuring the hit single "Bang It!" produced by hitmaker E-A-Ski & CMT. THE FRONTLINE is the latest hip-hop phenomenon to take over the Bay-area - THE FRONTLINE is ready to bring their unique brand of hip-hop to the masses.
Customer Reviews:
Why must they hate on the BAY?.......2006-09-27
First off, the Frontline are not some mainstream wanabees. They have a unique sound that is different from even a lot of bay cats out here. Ea-ski produces tight beats, regardless of what is hot on the radio at the time, (weak down south rappers). Bay area rappers rap for the bay. They don't care if there music gets played anywhere else. They make music for the sake of making music, not for the money, or to blow up on MTV or the Radio. Secondly, the frontline rymthes about the lighter side of bay living -also known as the hyphie movement. Its good to see some homies from Richmond rapping about positive things. Because if you lived on these bay streets, you would know that there are much worse things than sideshows, clubs, and partying. So quit hating on the bay mane!
Mainstream wannabes.......2006-07-30
The best way I can describe these guys are 50 cent lyrics without Dre's beats. All these guys talk about is going to the club, sex, and guns. Their flow isn't anything special and the songs are extremely repetitive. The majority of their beats are low off key minor notes with some handclapping mixed in. One of their more popular songs is "stomp and clap." They stomp and clap 50 times and shout out to ATL, the west coast, and new york... Wow, that's a good one guys. I'm stomping this cd out of my collection and I suggest everyone avoids this cd as well.
THE NEW BAY.......2006-03-28
Spittin' REAL lyrics that contain REAL substance!!! That's what the FRONTLINE is all about. Folks have had this stereotype about rappers from the BAY for a long time...but these 2 young cats have definitely helped with this BAY AREA MOVEMENT that we're seeing right now.
THE NEW BAY!!! NOW YOU KNOW!!!
BANG IT!!!.......2005-10-04
this cd is so sick i cant even explain it... the lyrics are pretty typical or rappers today, with some exceptions, but what really makes this cd are the beats... EA-Ski and CMT are incredible on this production, and if you like funky, sick stuff then this is for you... the best songs on the cd are as follows:
7) Stomp 'n' Clap
5) Now U Know
11) let's go
8) what is it
3) bang it
this cd is definetly worth the money... BANG IT!!!
Good CD. Period........2005-07-09
I don't need to hear the bay this the bay that. I know damn well I am SICK and TIRED of hearing 50 and Em on the radio. They are bout as tired as a newborn baby. Every song sounds the same...Em can't find anymore people to make fun of so he brings that dumb insult dog in...people are comparing 50 to a gorilla more and more every day. This stuff is fresh, crunk beats, clean flows, and a lot of great songwriting go to make this record great. I doubt 50 or Em can break their sameness now. The Massacre might have been a big seller but that don't make it good. Same goes for Encore. You get Bang It! all the way to New York and see how fast they get a major label deal. Hopefully they won't get Em/50'd up. Face it masses...they do suck! Get Frontline and you'll know what I mean

One of the best albums of 1999 4 1/2 Mics.......2005-10-31
This album is by David Banner who now a days has a pretty good following in the south. Him and his rap partner made a Dirty South classic on this album. This album is a lot better then any of Banners solo joints MT2A being his best one in my book.
If you like David Banners music even just a little bit you will love this CD. As I said this should be seen as a Dirty Classic.
Highly Recommended & Different.......2005-01-26
This album is not your typical southern rap album. It consists of smart and witty lyrics. This album came out before David Banner was famous (and he is much better in this album). It has great, trippy lil' beats and is a great album for when your just cruising around town or when your just relaxing. Overall I was very impressed due to the fact that Im not a big rap fan, and even though I typically listen to more of the Beatles or the Pixies, I found this album to be especially enjoyable!!!
The Crooked Letter State got that FIREWATER!.......1999-05-09
Coming out of Mississippi, you don't hear much from us until now. This Grey Skies album is as good as any album out of the south and even better. Out of 17 songs, at LEAST 13 are bumpin. Amongst the best are: Firewater, Get Crunk, Tupelo, Chicken, and Trill As It Gets. If you have any negetive opinions about this album, keep it 2 yoself. If you deny these boys their glory and opportunity to shine you ani't nutthin but a hater. We can look forward to these playaz to drop more and even tighter cuts. Mississippi ain't dead ya heard what I said. From Meridian to Jackson, to Biloxi and back them Mississippi playaz puttin the state on the map.
These cats are xtra hot, hip hop legends already.......1999-05-08
Kamikazee and David Banner will and to me is the hottest lyricist in this hip hop game. Grey Skies is true knowledge. I can dig this southern masterpiece because that's how it's goin down in the south... There lyrics is doing all others in the business. I just stumbled across these cats and now I'm waiting for the video, I know it will be as positive as there message. I read about them in The Source, May issue. It really tripped me out how these cats got all these college degrees. But, the message that they're delivering there's no doubt these cats are educated to these passing times. You cats stay up on it, Peace Back-to-Back w/Big Awl....99'

Album Description
Four-time Grammy nominee Ali Shaheed Muhammad releases one of the most refreshing and daring hip-hop/R&B records in recent memory, the gripping Shaheedullah and Stereotypes. Ali Shaheed is a founding member of the most influential hip-hop act of the 90's, A Tribe Called Quest. Known for their groundbreaking jazz-rap revolution and progressive views, the band made history with classic albums such as The Low End Theory, and Midnight Marauders. After A Tribe Called Quest disbanded in '88, Ali quickly reinvented himself as one of the founding members of Lucy Pearl with Raphael Saadiq and ex-En Vogue member Dawn Robinson. On Shaheedullah and Stereotypes, Ali has shied away from the use of samples and has implemented the use of self-performed live instrumentation by way of guitar, bass, and wood-shedding on the keyboard - most evident on the single "Elevated Orange" and "Lord Can I Have This Mercy".

Ali Shaheed Muhammad - Shaheedullah and Stereotypes.......2007-01-12
Ali Shaheed Muhammad's debut solo album was "Shaheedullah and Stereotypes" (2004). I have always been impressed with the outstanding production Brooklyn Producer/DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad made for A Tribe Called Quest's albums. Ali enlists some help from Chip-Fu, Stokley Williams, Kay Jay, Sy Smith & Wallace Grace on this seventeen track release. Ali's production on this release is good, as the album is full of memorable beats, from start to finish. After the intro, Ali Shaheed Muhammad teams up with Chip-Fu for "Lord Can I Have This Mercy" - and the two talk to the new generation backed by an outstanding chorus. Ali's lyrics on "Industry/Life" are on point, Ali kicks knowledge about violence, materialism, and life. Ali lets his production speak for itself on "All Right" (Aight)/Stay Interlude, a positive track. Singer Stokley Williams (lead singer of Mint Condition) makes the first of two appearances on "Put Me On" a track dedicated to a special day. Female Singer Sy Smith is featured on "Honey Child" a decent track which I expected to grow into something more. It's easy to relate with Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Kay Jay as they provide a tribute to "Family" - an heartfelt dedication to loved ones. Sy Smith returns for the ballad "(They Can't) Define Our Love". The album's first single has Stokley Williams and Ali rhyming over some harder sounding production on "Banga" - Ali seems a bit out of his element on this track and I wonder why this was made a single as it does not reflect the album. Ali experiments with the beats on "Matches - Don't Play!!! & "All Night". The later track is a feel good jam for the late night which features singer Wallace Grace. Production wise this release is tight. Ali is not the most gifted MC, but he's a grounded individual who know's what is important in life. The messages in his music are positive and worthwhile. "Shaheedullah and Stereotypes" is a relatively unknown release worth checking out. 3.5.
Thank You For The "Something New" Stew!!!.......2004-11-02
I thought this CD was definitely different from what's out now...and that's a GOOD thing!! For those who are concerned whether it's more A Tribe Called Quest or Lucy Pearl...I would lean towards Lucy Pearl in terms of experimentating...and it's good to see someone do something original and something that WORKS!! Even Kanye West is biting off of his OWN stuff ("Get By, "I Try", That John Legend song....aint that all the same tune??)
I think Ali Shaheed Muhammed did a great job at letting folks know that there is more out there than just old school samples these rappers can buy, rhyme over and call a hit...he's got original music that makes ya move your feet and nod to the beat... I listened to the "Shahedullah and Stereotypes" snippets above before I bought the CD and I'm glad I did cuz the CD is worth the money!!
I'm SO tired of all the artificial/process cheesy music out there...
Thanks for your home-cooked gumbo Ali...hopefully others who are really TALENTED will follow your path!!!
Ali Shaheed has gone out like Eric B........2004-10-31
Honestly, I can't give this album a good rating. I'm a huge A Tribe Called Quest enthusiast, but this album isn't worth your hard earned money. In fact I like tons of albums that get mad hated on, but this one just doesn't cut it at all. I like some of the beats and instrumental music on this album (but not all of it). However almost all of the tracks are ruined by some very wack vocals. There are 2 or so MCs that put in ok performances, nothing remarkable at all, but there are also some of the cheesiest R&B singers I have ever heard featured through-out this album. Lets not even mention that Ali pulled an Eric B. and thought he could actually rock the mic. Not surpisingly he can't, and his wack vocals and weak lyrics ruins all of the tracks he appears on. Even his spoken word segments come off as incredibly hokey and forced. I wish this album was instrumental, maybe I would give it a better rating. Take my advice and go pick up the new De La Soul album or something else instead.
(Ali) Shaheed breaks us off a lil somethin' INDEED!.......2004-10-14
October was a refreshing month for Hip-Hop releases...so far we got Talib Kweli, Mos Def and now Ali Shaheed Muhammad (Tribe Called Quest and Lucy Pearl fame) whose "Shaheedullah and Stereotypes" CD was released under the radar. It should be considered an energizing and at times politically conscious contribution to music in general. And this is what Ali offers us--with open arms--MUSIC. It's been a while since that gift has been presented without the bells, whistles and misguided allusion of a Trojan Horse.
Though Ali comes to us as a world renown DJ, he isn't just the "beat guy" for this CD. From the first track ("Social Reform") we understand who this album belongs to and at the same time we see Ali generously and brilliantly expose talented individuals from his fold. Their contributions to the CD help polish the goldmine he has unearthed for us.
Ali easily takes the forefront as a lyricist and singer(who KNEW?!?!)--two skills he obviously had up his sleeve for a long time and wasn't revealing until the time was right...and for real y'all...the time is NOW.
The stellar group of lyricists on his team include...Kay Jay from Houston, TX. ("Tight", "Family"). Kay's fresh style flows naturally off the tongue and easily to the ear. Sy Smith is a songstress whose sweet flavor in your ear gracefully plies and pirouettes on three tracks ("Honey Child", "<They Can't> Define Our Love", "Part of the Night"). Stokely Williams from Mint Condition (SWOON!!) is rediscovered--and singing like he ain't been no where but here--does his thing on two tracks ("Banga" and "Put Me On"). A brotha with a beautiful voice named Wallace Gary adds to the variety of this CD by blessing us with a trippy house track("All Night"). And last but CERTAINLY not least...Chip-fu formerly of the FuSchnickens (where the heck THAT cat been?!? Hip-Hop has missed him TERRIBLY!) breathed a huge lung of fresh air all over track two of the CD ("Lord, Can I Have This Mercy"). Before Chip-fu even lets us know he flips his lyrics like a sick gymnast, we can invision him rubbin' chalk on his hands and runnin' at top speed for the uneven bars.
I know I said a lot...but what puts this CD over the top for me is everyone sounds like they are having a fan-tabulous time with their contributions. And as I read the notes on the CD itself, plenty of live instruments were used. It looks like this CD is virtually SAMPLE-FREE--who in the game can claim THAT fame?
Everyone's input on the CD feels like they've all craved real Hip-Hop and real music (like I have) for a very long time. So if you feel the same way, you need to pick this one up--and QUICK!
Peace!

Unfulfilling #2.......2003-11-28
"Unfulfilling" took the words from my mouth. Exactly my experience, bought on the power of a "Best Of..." review. Almost every track just makes me cringe for some or all of its length.
Heavy.......2003-07-19
Many a fan of Exhorder bought this, hoping it would be a surrogate third album of the Deep South thrashers. Anyone expecting an extreme thrash-fest from this album will be highly disappointed. While Floodgate features a former member of Exhorder, none of the old sound has been retained at all.
Y'see, 'Penalty' is sludgy Doom-laden swamp rock, more akin to the likes of Trouble and Monster Magnet than Dark Angel and Pantera. This is an album of huge rock slab guitar riffs and a rhythm section dragged out of the slimy 'gator infested swamps of the Bayou. There is nothing fancy here, just four guys churning out the music they love, without pretension.
Kyle Thomas was the acidic mouthpiece of Exhorder in his thrash incarnation. With Floodgate, he proves highly versatile, and surprisingly comes out with a rough edged blues-y voice, reminiscent of a number of singers from different bands, one moment Trouble, the next Masters of Reality, and the odd touch of Ozzy. Thomas shows an excellent ear for vocal melody, and backing vocal harmonies slide in and out of many of the songs. The Exhorder roar comes out on occasion, to add effect or emphasise a point.
"Whole" is like a soundtrack for that moment of semi-consciousness between waking and sleeping, like Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan". "Second Guesser" jolts you out of that reverie, with an almost Hardcore shout-along feel, like a Corrosion Of Conformity or Crowbar track.
Fans of supergroup Down will love this album. Strangely enough, it was released about the same time as 'Nola', and was also recorded in New Orleans. It is basic, no nonsense Stoner Rock, minus the stoned part and stripped back to the bare bones. You don't even need to get out of it to get into this.
Unfulfilling.......1999-08-09
I bought this CD a couple of years back, sold by assurances that it was a return to honest detuned power riffs and one of the top ten albums of the year. I'm afraid that I cannot rate this work as highly, the overall feel is of emptiness, without a hook or feature that really grabs me. You may come to your own conclusions but I am of the opinion that the purchase price of this CD will not be justified by aural pleasure.
Awesome.......1998-12-19
Kyle Thomas and his brother Kevin have put together an album full of powercords and riffs that you can really appreciate. With songs like Second Guesser, Black With Sin, & Those Days this is definitely a keeper for any true fan of Rock n' Roll. Steve Fischer provides key lead guitar riffs and Kyle's vocals are better than ever. If you want something fresh and heavy, buy this album.
