5 out of 5 stars They finally out did Mostasteles! .......2007-07-16

In my opinion, this cd is a masterpiece, mostly because of their new producer Seven. Anybody who listens to Tech N9ne knows that this guy has got skill. Most of the guests work great on this cd, especially the Dayton Family. I was a little disapointed the the songs they did with Proof and Bizarre but other than that every song is banging. Aftering hearing this, The Tempest and the sampler for Blaze's "Clockwork Gray" 2007 is looking like Psychopathic's best year for music since the late 90's. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars not bad at all.......2007-07-12

at first listen, all i was hearing was the other rappers on the album which made me think the cd wasn't good. i stopped and thought about what monoxide said on the man's myth dvd about not doing collaborations after seeing that nobody really took notice of the guests on the green book cd. i also stopped to think about the title of the cd. being that it's called independence day, i found the cd to be totally dependent on other rappers making tracks work. but after listening to it more and more i find myself really enjoying the cd. the guests on the cd aren't as overpowering as i found them to be at first. the beats are all pretty hot. kinda got that west coast feel to them. raw deal is a hot song. the lyrics are really good plus jamie and paul's skills really shine through. there's maybe 1 throw-away track but overall its a solid cd. its not their best work but its definitely worth picking up. get ready, the legendary dead man is on the way 8/21!!!

5 out of 5 stars Another Twiztid Masterpiece.......2007-07-10

Juggalos and Non Juggalos will find this album very impressive, you see rap music nowadays has sold its sole to the devil and its all the same beat same bullcrap lyrics, This album is in the realms of original rap. amazing lyrics and beats with hook ups with the late Proof and the ICP Orhcastra.
Trust me this album is truly amazing please give it a go.

5 out of 5 stars T-W-I-Z-T-I-D.......2007-07-10

Its always a good day when a new Twiztid album emerges from the depths.

This album was originally supposed to have a guest artist on every track. To my surprise there are 4 tracks with no guests. While each track is equally fresh with just Madrox & Monoxide, it's really cool to listen to these special guests show love to Twiztid the way they do. Especially when they've got monsters from the underground by the likes of The Dayton Family and Tech N9ne. Twiztid could have put another album out with just Jamie & Paul on every track but a few, but they did this album for themselves while at the same time still holding it down, sticking up, and showing love to their fans throughout the whole cd. Besides the usual suspects of Blaze, ICP, and R.O.C., there's a handful and a half of other guests. My favorite tracks are 1 through 14 with one of my favorite highlights being on "Sex, Drugs, Money, & Murder" when the infamous Shoe String & Bootleg from The Dayton Family show love and give props to Twiztid.

If you like Twiztid, you'll love Independent's Day. This cd introduced me to some other groups like (hed) p.e. and Potluck that I knew of from Subnoize but probably wouldn't have listened to if it wasn't for them having guest spots on ID.

Besides the very cool glow-in-the-dark album cover of the shot-up zombie-lookin' Uncle Sam. Inside the case reveals the release date of Blaze Ya Dead Homie's long awaited new project "Clockwork Gray" as well as shots of Twiztid with their new face paint and a fold-out poster.

5 out of 5 stars Who Want To Go To The Ball.......I Do!!!!!!.......2007-07-10

I had highly anticipated this CD and it is definitely phat! The song "Welcome Home" is about us as juggalos who know each other as family and when we reunite, it is awesome! "Monster" talks about the angry person inside of us all, especially when no one understands us, it makes us want to scream when we are judged for no reason, only because we are different, see what I mean? We, as juggalos, develop another personality to deal with the B*llSh*t brought on by the world. "Sex, Drugs, Money & Murder" is sort of the trinity of man, if you will, not the trinity of religion, but the trinity of the flesh. It really is all about getting screwed over by a woman ( I guess the same goes for men, if you're a woman, or whatever your preference), I suppose whatever your drug of choice is, you can have sex with a special someone, but when you are screwed over by someone you love, you feel like making them feel pain too, The Dayton family shines like mad on this cut! "Hurt Someone" is straight gangsta! DJ Quik's mad flows about smokin is hot! Tha Dogg Pound is sweet on flowing about hurting posers. Twiztid shines on this, letting fake MFs know they will get blasted, if they are frontin'.

"Jus' Like Me" is sort of a family song, we, as juggalos, love to hang out, occasionally smoke(or not), get in mosh pits, and just hang with family, we are being ourselves and accepting each other for that, as well. "Buss Yo' Head Open" can be a homies jam! We all have our crew, clique, or family, that we would die for and would defend them too and Blaze's flows show how he will let MFs know how he will handle business when his crew is messed with! Twiztid is awesome on the chorus!

"Feel Me" is Twiztid's take on letting the world get to know them and anyone who is down can join the party! Amen to that, fo' real! "Raw Deal" is all about being a juggalo, I guess it is their version of ICP's Juggalo Family, but it's all about being yourself, an individual, till you die! "How I Live" is about spittin' flows for family! Givin' props to all juggalos who show mad love and respect (Dirty Dozen is phat on
this)(MMFCL!) "My Favorite" is about smokin' and also a history lesson on why they smoke trees. DJ Clay slams on the turn tables and supporting vocals, man, even though I dont smoke, it is still a phat song! I love the personification of making weed a woman, Mary Jane, if you will, LOL~!

"Weak Shitz Out" is about coming back hard and fresh! It's about letting everyone know whats up, especially with a new style and new sound, Hed Pe has mad instumentals on this, and the vocals by Hed Pe are stellar to say the least, hard and to the point! They (He Pe) also give a rock vibe to this song, amazing!. "Wet Dreams" is sort of a romantic song, LOL. It says how to romance a woman, ghetto style! Bizzare (of D12) is awesome with his mad affirmations! His flows are freaky as hell~! "Bury 'em All" Yes! Yes! Yes! It's a freaky tale of being paranoid and protecting yourself from bullsh*t in the world, Tech N9ne has sweet flows, especially when they rap along with Twiztid, Krizz Kaliko has mad vocals on the chorus and Jamie Madrox's flows are deep, fast and on point! (I would love to see this on a Tech N9ne CD!, in my opinion, this should have been on Tech N9ne's M.L.K. CD) Potluck & Underrated also spit some flows on this jam, especially about how sweet they can be on the mic! "Monster's Ball" is freaky party! When the lights are out, all the freaks and monsters come out of the woodwork! ICP on the chorus is phat! Jame Madrox has his fresh ride with zombies, vampires, and severed bitches and then being excited and scared, creepy! Violent J fuckin smokes the vocals on this, I love the way he had to die to go to the party!! Monoxide is sweet on his flows, the imagery in his parts is delightfully morbid! Shaggy 2 Dope is twisted on his dancing with the freaky zombie bitches and his description of the punch is sick! The ball is a mad party, who's coming?!!! Then to top the song off, they rock out with some mad guitar!

I don't usually get into Cds littered with guest stars, but everyone held their own on this and no one outshines the other! This whole Cd has it all, imagery, sickness, devotion, family love, I mean it is totally amazing and dare I say, Twiztid's best CD to date!

When Wagner set the Ring to music, he intended the orchestra to act in the fashion of a chorus from a classic Greek tragedy--setting the mood and commenting on the action. In order to allow a nonverbal musical line to reflect on the plot, Wagner developed a psychologically and musically complex symbology to communicate his thoughts to the listener. From the beginning the Ring has spawned numerous written commentaries on the relationships of the motif structure, but by using examples from the Decca Ring recording, Deryck Cooke's thoughtful spoken commentary is by far the most accessible guide for either the fledgling Ring enthusiast or the seasoned veteran. --Christian C. 4 out of 5 stars Ring introduction critique.......2006-11-04

This is very worthwhile, at the same time it requires time, patience and attention, but it does provide some keys to better enjoyment of a sensational piece of music.

5 out of 5 stars FASCINATING STUDY FOR NOVICES AND AFFICIONADOS ALIKE.......2006-08-16

This may look an intimidating, daunting and dull prospect - a 2+ hour lecture on the motifs in the Ring. Don't be put off. Whether you're a relative novice to the Ring and want to find out what it's all about, more experienced with a desire to understand the composer's methods better or an afficionado who thinks he knows it all inside out, there is great pleasure as well as elucidation to be had from this set. Originally made to accompany the Decca Solti Ring, it contains a multitude of musical illustrations taken from those recordings as well as some specially recorded by Solti just for this Introduction.

It wasn't the first time this has been tried. The famous HMV sets from the late 20's also included recorded examples of over 100 motifs. (These, by the way, are available as part of the Pearl reissue of those wonderful HMV recordings). What that set lacked was the wonderful insights as well as the approachability of the talk by Deryck Cooke. Cooke was a great and much missed musicologist - a Mahler expert responsible for the performing edition of the Tenth Symphony still most played today, a fascinating explorer into the nature of music's basic building-blocks in his excellent book, The Language of Music, and an inspiring and elucidating critic of Wagner's work as shown by the fascinating book he left unfinished at his death, I Saw the World End.

On these CDs he does much more than list the leitmotifs and identify them as calling-cards. He shows the amazingly integrated and organic growth of the musical material that Wagner uses throughout his vast work. He demonstrates how motifs can change their sense and meaning as they evolve through the drama. And he shows how the complex combinations of motifs can radically advance both the musical and the dramatic narrative of the piece. There are even places where he corrects the misinterpretation of some of the motifs that had become ingrained from early commentators' false labels.

This set should engage and enlighten anyone with an interest in Wagner's huge and inexhaustible tetralogy. Do give it a try - no matter how far down the road to Wagnerianism you are.

4 out of 5 stars Welcome back to a classic analysis.......2006-05-28

Deryck Cooke's lecture series upon THE RING is almost as much a classic by now as the Solti RING cycle, with which it was originally issued on LP, and from which it derives its musical examples. The difference is that whereas the Solti RING has been continuously in print ever since it was completed, and was among the first opera sets to benefit from the CD revolution, the Cooke analysis was for long almost totally unobtainable. Now we have it back. It should be welcomed: it is a classic. Cooke's mellow, deep voice with the hint of a Celtic burr - which made him ideal on BBC radio - patiently explains Wagner's melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic metamorphoses to such good effect that if you own this recording, you really require no other RING analysis. (A pity about the abrupt beginnings and endings of too many vocal and orchestral illustrations, though.) Musicology lost a fine, sensitive thinker with Cooke's premature death in 1976.

If all you want is dilettantish baby food, there are plenty of dumbed-down Wagner commentaries on the market, stretching from Anna Russell's famous monologue (which doesn't pretend to be anything other than a parody aimed at morons) to the latest standard-issue "Wagner-was-a-Nazi-boo-hiss" feuilleton (which, unfortunately, does). Without reasonable score-reading skill you will find Cooke useless, however diligently you have ploughed through Marx, Jung, Freud, or other gurus purportedly relevant to THE RING. Cooke expects you to use your brains and your musical sense. Quelle horreur. At today's BBC his "elitism" would render him unemployable.

5 out of 5 stars Essential for Understanding Wagner's Ring Cycle.......2006-05-15

I originally bought this set on vinyl in the early 70s when I discovered the Ring in college. I studied the records and booklet assiduously, and after about three run-throughs I finally started getting it. Wow! Thirty-five years later, I still remember Mr. Cooke's analyses of various motive families, and I don't know how I could have mastered and loved the Ring without him. I now own this set on CD and listen again on the rare occasion of attending a Ring performance. My wife calls me a "Ring nut," but of course I'm nuts about many other things as well.

Bottom line, buy this set and study it if the Ring has captivated you as it has countless others. The presentation is dry, but sticking with it brings measureless and longlasting rewards.

4 out of 5 stars Very Functional.......2006-03-19

This CD set is excellent for what it sets out to do: present the leitmotives of the Ring according to their relationship to one another and their role in developing both characters and plotlines. Deryck Cooke's lectures on each motive are very insightful, very helpful at cueing the listener into the semantic aspect of Wagner's orchestral writing. The one drawback is that the musical examples are a bit jarring. Without fade-ins or -outs, the engineering is quite barbaric. And though the orchestra was, I believe, conducted by Solti, and is beautifully done, the vocal performances can be quite unpleasant. Point being: this is not background music, but in accomplishing what it sets out to do, it is very successful, and I don't know of anything else like it.

5 out of 5 stars Ok my review is not on the whole album........2007-08-06

Now my review may not be helpful but I couldn't find a single song album on butthole surfers to review the 1 song so give me a break and hear me out. The only song I heard from the butthole surfers is DUST DEVIL and that song was so damn awesome I heard it years ago on beavis and butt-head music video and that one cracked me up as well. I loved the guitars and solo speed riffs that's what makes it awesome and the rough vocals too. I heard that song when I was 10.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Incredible!!!.......2007-02-13

I've got to get this off my chest: This album is friggin' awesome!!! If I was stuck on a desert island with only 10 albums of my choice, this would definitely be one. The songs are consistently well written, performed and produced. Paul Leary is probably my favorite guitarist next to Hendrix. He's got this distinctive, psychedelic style with an obvious ear for music (which is exactly why he produces these days).

Nearly every song is truly fantastic. "The Wooden Song" is my favorite with "Goofy's Concern" a close 2nd.

I also highly recommend their album "The Hole Truth...and Nothing Butt". It is a compilation of their earlier stuff which is much more raw, but also very entertaining. It's about 70 minutes long and includes a lot of live stuff as well as a radio interview which may help you to understand their warped psychology.

this got me hooked on the butthole surfers
i have numerous bhs albums all 15 real releases the original touch and go versions some singles and import versions, this album is great, despite some people's opinions, yes i like their locust-hairway period better, but this one still kicks weird revolution off my shelf,
awesome, great halloween music, for some reason it fits
nuff said gibby haynes, paul leary, king coffey, teresa taylor, jeff pinkus and led zeppelin's jonesy rule
where are they now?

5 out of 5 stars Exerburantly hard ROCKING........2005-11-30

Yeah, this is the one that got me going on the Surfers. I'd heard some of the earlier stuff, but when I heard this I was blown away! The guitar, bass, and drums are ROCKING! They really rip on this release. I was shocked to hear that John Paul Jones was producing them, but then I found an article in Guitar World about the recording of the album. I just love the part in the article where the interviewer is talking to the band about how this is by far their hardest rocking album and (I think) Paul Geary says that "well, John Paul Jones liked the harder songs, so those are the ones we put on the album". And the interviewer says "you let a producer choose the songs on your album??!!" and Paul says HELL YES, its JOHN PAUL JONES MAN!!!

5 out of 5 stars "A Doggie Dropped It".......2005-11-07

Rolling Stone Magazine once slammed the Butth0le Surfers for being "so genuine in its depravity" and called them scary because "the weirdness is much too real to qualify as mere dadaist showmanship." Those comments are absolutely true and a great reason to love the band.
The Butth0le Surfers releases before this album were tailor made to sound like bad acid trips. They took the "peace and love" romanticism out of psychedelic music and replaced with sickness and fear. It was a more realistic approach to the true LSD experience.
Those albums must be experienced at least once or twice just for the shock value. However, none of those albums are the kind you would want to listen to every day. "Independent Worm Saloon" is an album you could listen to every day.

The Butth0le Surfers hit the perfect balance between weirdness and catchy, hard punk rock. The weirdness is delivered mostly by vocalist Gibby Haynes with his outlandish lyrics and freaky voice. The music will occasionally get as weird as the lyrics, but on the average it's just one catchy riff after another.
The frantic freak out songs "Who Was in My Room Last Night," "Goofy's Concern," and "Some Dispute Over T-shirt Sales" are the highlights followed closely by "Alcohol" and "Dust Devil." The rest is not filler by any means, as it holds the flow of the album together in either mellow "cool down" or comical way. It peaks and dips just like a perfect, drug fueled live performance.

There are some amazing things about the Butth0le Surfers that cannot be ignored. First, they were from Texas which is a place that clearly does not value or encourage such extreme artistic expression that this band has produced. Also, the drug possession laws there are extremely harsh which makes them all the more fearless in their expression.
Second, they ended up becoming mainstream which was once thought to be impossible for a band with a name and sound like theirs. While Nirvana and the alternative explosion in the `90's may have opened the door for the Butth0le Surfers, it was amazing that they survived the `80's underground and emerged on the radio despite their name and reputation. They must make great music.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2007-05-12

After listening to the song samples at [...], I immediately knew
that I had to have the cd. The music is unlike anything he's done in the
past. All of the songs are very laid back and easy to listen to, but still
manage to have a Top 40 feel to them. There are only 4 songs on the cd,
but all of them are great. I'm eagerly awaiting a full length release
from him featuring the same style of music. Hopefully, it won't be much
longer. I strongly suggest going to his website and listening to the song
samples. Once you do, you'll be hooked like I was.

4 out of 5 stars NOT A ROCK ALBUM.......2007-01-04

Cherone Need I Say More is not a rock album, however still is a very pleasant listen. The album consists of only 4 tracks;

1. Need I Say More.
2. Change my Mind.
3. Yeah Yeah Yeah.
4. Love Got Left Behind.

These tracks are all very good but do have an acoustic jazz feel to them.
Although Gary is known more for he's rock and funk vocal, these tracks really delivery a great vocal. The big disappointment here is the lack of material. Perhaps Gary is just wanting to explore some broader options from his early days of singing rock...???
If you like Gary Cherone then this is worth the purchase, however if you prefer his rock and roll vocal then you will NOT find it on this album.

4 out of 5 stars More than a former rock singer.......2006-11-12

Gary Cherone has a distinct voice that helped him put his own stamp on the rock and roll world. As the former singer of the popular funk metal band "Extreme", Cherone's songwriting ability coupled with his transcending from supersonic rock anthems to soulful, sweet ballads gave him some critical acclaim. Despite those well-deserved accolades, Cherone's career took a little sidetrack when he became installed as the lead singer of Van Halen. The much-anticipated team up did not fare as great as past commercial albums, and Cherone was soon bearing some of the blame. Despite what was a setback in some fans minds, Cherone went on to record a new project band called "Tribe of Judah" which recorded two studio albums.

On "Need I say more", we're given a little snippet of more of Cherone's eclectic vocals. The album only features four tracks and after listening I was only yearning for more. On this album Cherone starts it off with an amazing and emotional track that really puts his vocals and lyrics at the forefront. "Need I say more" starts off with a beautiful guitar piece that is reminiscent of something truly timeless, and almost folk like. The song is respectfully simple and yet intricately as emotional in tone and harmony. The other three tracks take a much different turn, but do not lose any of Cherone's magic along the way. They have a pop/jazz feel to them that is contemporary as well as just plain cool! I look forward to anything that Gary releases in the future, and am happy he was able to break free of the "big hair" label so many wrongfully applied to him due to his early days with Extreme and Van Halen. If "Need I say More" had more tracks on it, it could be a modern day rock classic. Despite the shortage of songs, it's not short on power.

5 out of 5 stars Good songwriting.......2006-11-11

I hope that this four-song cd is just a taste of what's to come. The first song is an accoustic ballad. Cherone's lyrics are clever and the melody inviting. The other songs would fit better into either the jazz or funk genre. There is a pop feel to them and they each carry a nice groove. The songwriting here is great. All of the tunes are fun to listen to and infectious. I wouldn't confuse this genre of music with anything that he did with Extreme or Van Halen, but I think that Cherone shines in this element.

5 out of 5 stars Cherone is a classic!.......2006-07-19

I have always been an huge fan of Extreme. I love their expression political, humanitarian and race relations, and their love songs. On Pornograffiti, there is a song, "When I First Kissed You", a lovely, Sanatra-esque song that shows Cherone's full vocal range and talent. Going from songs like "Get the Funk Out" and "Cynical" to "More Than Words" and "Need I Say More" - Gary Cherone shows us what a true vocal talent he is and that, like we all should, loves and appreciates a wide range of musical genre. I can't wait for his next solo album.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD...Even better live show.......2005-10-06

I saw Girlyman with Dar Williams in Raleigh, NC. Great show!! This CD captures their unique harmonies and quirky edge. Great drive time music to beat the traffic jam blues.

5 out of 5 stars An instant favorite!.......2005-03-11

Not sure how I stumbled across Girlyman, but the group is my new favorite. The great lyrics and gorgeous harmonies have won them a prominent spot on my play list! They're coming to Seattle soon! I won't miss the show!

5 out of 5 stars One of my new favorites.......2005-02-23

It's always a thrill to be pleasantly surprised by an opening act you've never heard of. I first heard Girlyman when they opened for the Indigo Girls last fall, and was absolutely floored. "Say Goodbye," "Viola" and "The Shape I Found You In" are favorites, and their cover of "My Sweet Lord" is fun, although a little safe.

They were a fun band to see live. Girlyman possesses excellent stage presence and good-natured wit. I look forward to more great things from them.

5 out of 5 stars Michael Stipe meets the Indigo Girls.......2005-02-20

I first heard this group on the radioio eclectic webstream. The song was "Fall Stories." I noticed over the course of a month or so that every time that the song came on that I paid more attention to it. They have marvelous melodies that you just wished you could hear more of in mainstream music. I found their website and listened to their album. After one listen I ordered the CD and awaited its arrival. I thought they reminded me very much of the early Indigo Girls. Later on I joined their fan club in the hope they might eventually visit somewhere nearby. They are now signed on to the Indigo Girls record label so I hope there is enough marketing power behind them that they get to make a new album. The only weak song on the album is the remake of George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord." It isn't bad, but just not as great as all the other songs.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful collection of bhajans.......2007-05-08

One of the few selection of songs that seems to breathe harmony and love in your surroundings each time they are played. Needless to say, they are a favourite addition to my religious music collection.

5 out of 5 stars Un disco excelente.......2007-01-10

la magnifica voz de la interprete junto con los cantos sagrados, hacen un deleite para quien escucha este trabajo de Dasi.
Lo he utilizado incluso en terapias de Reiki con excelentes resultados.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing and Moving: World Music to Be Inspired by........2006-09-23

I cannot be as eloquant as the other reviewers below but Karnamrita's music is a magical gem to be discovered. This is world music, not 'new age', soulfully inspired by her tenure in India. Her vocal training is up there with other vocal greats like Lisa Girrard (of Dead Can Dance fame).

I would wholly recommend others to buy this inspirational album.

5 out of 5 stars A Moving Masterpiece.......2005-11-14

Musically and emotionally compelling, Karnamrita's voice spans the range from heartbreakingly plaintive ("Yamunastakam") to complexly erotic ("Story of Pingala") while always remaining firmly rooted in the devotional modality that so thoroughlly imbues all her work. You won't find a more unique and inspiring collection of songs rendered so thoughtfully. A superb work of art.

5 out of 5 stars Breath-taking Simplicity and Sincerity.......2005-07-24

From hearing samples on other websites, I had high expectations for this CD, and when I received it, the beautiful packaging only increased them! Karnamrita met them in full; this is one of those CD's you put in your player and suddenly the world's another notch more beautiful. It almost makes me an optimist. The recording quality is excellent and the instruments and voice very organic-sounding. I can imagine it would be perfect for yoga, but Karnamrita's voice is engaging enough just to listen to or meditate on. It's also a great CD if you're interested in the Indian language, because the booklet has all the lyrics and they are easy to follow with Karnamrita's voice. There is also an English translation for every song, and the story behind each saint. I cannot help feeling, however, that the music has been watered down through the western influence (recorded partly in India and partly in L.A.) but the result is that it is easier on our ears than some Indian and Asian music is. For example, Karnamrita's voice is largely unornamented, which surprised me but I'm learning to appreciate it for its simplicity. This music will have you on your knees in prayer before you know it, whatever your religion or creed! It would also be a great gift for any woman.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent innovation!.......2006-07-30

I find UpLevel an invaluable tool for working with clients. As an EMDR therapist I welcome all good innovations, both in theories and procedures. Robert Yourell's CD is certainly one of those excellent creations which enhance my work. Clients find themselves processing traumatic and blocked material, in depth, as they use this CD with therapist's guide. I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Bilateral sound therapy has given me my life back!.......2006-05-25

Talking about traumatic issues let me recognize and discuss them, but they were still there and still affected me every single day. Working with my therapist, bilateral tone therapy [EMDR] allowed me to process these issues in a manner that created resolution in a very short time and completely took away their residual life crippling affects. I went into this therapy skeptical but came through amazed.

Robert Yourell's offering of the UpLevel CD to the consumer has allowed me to continue this therapy on my own. The UpLevel CD provides relaxing (and pleasing) music interspersed with the bilateral tones that allow the listener to take an experience or thought and process it in a manner that creates understanding and resolution in the privacy of their own home.

I don't know how it works, but in a manner of weeks the bilateral tone therapy contained on this CD has helped me accomplish what a lifetime of talking never could - it has given me my life back.

5 out of 5 stars UpLevel: EMDR-Inspired Stable Bilateral Soundspace.......2006-05-03

The production quality of this CD is very good, I found the CD personally useful and regularly employe this CD in my work with clients. The response I received from Bob's site has been excellent and would recommend UpLevel and Robert Yourell's web site to anyone who wants to explore the use of bilateral sound.

5 out of 5 stars Effective? Lots of Wow Factor here - bar none.......2006-05-02

After finding lackluster help from a bevy of professionals, who were sadly inept at handling a series of highly charged PTSD events & post 9/11 trauma here in NYC, I found EMDR. For many months I've been working devotedly with facilitators, readings and bilateral CD's with solid uplifting progress. A couple months ago I had heard about Yourell's EMDR/PTSD work. The next day I surfed in and found an important site chock full of information, techniques and tools - all laid out smartly. I was eager to implement my progress and sent for Up Level & Personal Journey. What was instantly noticeable was not only the quality of these bilateral CD's, but their effectiveness. Lots of wow factor here, bar none. They're no band aid techniques but truly effective tools - I can't say enough good about them or Yourell's worthy site. I absolutely feel fundamental changes/healing taking place, and let me tell you...it's such a relief to finally exhale.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent tool for stress, anxiety.......2006-04-13

I purchased this CD from Robert's website last year and have found it instrumental in lowering anxiety and stress. The sound is rich and pleasing. I find it most helpful to listen while in a meditative posture, following the sound from ear to ear.

This CD has helped me process a lot of anxious feelings, thoughts and fears and I highly recommend it. It only takes a few minutes of listening for me to begin to feel the benefits of this sound: A sense of peace, relaxation, and well-being.

5 out of 5 stars Invaluable sound documentation of unique period of history........2005-06-13

"Fallschirmjaeger & Flieger Marches" PZG c.d.s are outstanding for the attractive artwork featured on their covers, and "Fallschirmjaeger & Flieger Marches" is no exception. Like "Kriegsmarine Marches", with its u-boat painting by Claus Bergen, his portrait of Stuka dive-bombers attacking through the clouds adorns this volume. It originally appeared in a 1939 issue of "Luftmacht Deutschland" ("Airpower Germany") as an advertisement for Dessau's Junkers Flugzeug und Motorenwerke AG, the factory responsible for manufacturing some of the finest aircraft of World War Two, and whose company song is featured in the album itself.

Listeners also have an opportunity to hear the real thing in action during the one minute-forty second sound-bite from a German newsreel documenting the 1941 invasion of Crete. Among the most dramatic soundtracks ever recorded, Stukas scream during steep dives and bombs explode to the accompaniment of Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" (a dramatic device borrowed forty years later by Francis Ford Coppola for his film, "Apocalypse Now"), while an excited narrator describes the combined parachute assault. The effect on German audiences of the time, witnessing all this on a big screen, must have been overwhelming. Paratroopers featured in the newsreel clip are represented by "Schoen bluehn' die Heckenrosen" ("Beautiful bloom the hedgeroses"), "Marsch der Fallschirmjaeger" ("March of the Paratroopers"), and "Rot scheint die Sonne" ("Red shines the Sun").

The Stuka even has its own song, the final selection in this collection which opened with "Bomben auf Engelland" by Norbert Schultze, composer of the Second World War's most famous melody, "Lily Marlene". The chorus sings, "We're going to hunt the British lion in a final, decisive battle. We hold judgment on a world empire which will pass away. That will be our proudest day. Comrade, kiss the girls goodbye! The order now is, `Start your engines!' Comrade, rush at the enemy! Bomb England!" Schultze passed away just two years ago.

PZG 210 is not confined, however, to music from "Hitler's War", to borrow the title from one of David Irving's books. The "Bombenflieger Marsch" and "Revere Marsch" were favorites of the Condor Legion, which flew three years before in the Spanish Civil War. And the "Bruno Loerzer Marsch", "Jadgeschwader Richtofen Marsh", "Lied der Balloniere" ("Song of the Balloonists"), "Kampfgeschwader Immelmann", and "Prinz Max Brigade" all harken back much earlier, to World War One. So too, the "Herrmann Goering March" celebrates the man who began building the Luftwaffe in 1935.

The "JU 88 Lied" ("Song of the Ju 88") was sung by crews of one of the Second World War's most versatile aircraft, a twin-engine medium bomber that helped tip the scales for victory in Norway, and went on to serve as a deadly torpedo-plane against Allied convoys, flew in the reconnaissance mode, and served as a night-fighter, even a radio-controlled bomb. The Ju 88 was so successful in all these roles it generated songs like "Flieger sind Sieger" ("Flyers are Victors"), music filled with pride and self-confidence after the Luftwaffe trounced one Allied air force after another.

All of the selections featured by "Fallschirmjaeger & Flieger Marches" have a sound different from their other Wehrmacht counterparts, although it is nonetheless firmly rooted in traditional German military music. Certainly, there has never been heard anything before or since quite like the powerful "Deutscher Flieger Marsch ("German Flyer March") or "Flieger Fanfare", both scored for what must have been exceptionally large brass bands. They play with a weight, precision and, most crucially, a spirit unique to the times in which these recordings were made. As such, they are invaluable sound documentation of a unique period in modern history.

5 out of 5 stars Just like High Street Agora back in 77........2004-05-31

Having seen the Godz back in their heyday in Columbus I can say this disc captures the Godz live riots pretty well. Yeah, they're basically a biker band but they have a nice two guitar sound that is definitely distinct.
Excellent production makes this disc sound very up to date. Mark Chatfield is a very good guitarist and knows how to make a live recording sound even better. He adds lots of nice intro riffing and interesting leads that aren't repeated over and over. The gritty vocals are decent as they switch back and forth from Glen Cataline (drummer), Eric Moore (bassist) and Mark (guitar). This is a two guitar attack as they've asked Eric Mauk to fill in on rhythm guitar and he does exactly what he's supposed to. Overall definitely worth your $$ if you ever saw 'em and wonder if Eric's rant during "Gotta Keep A Runnin'" can still pump the crowd's adrenaline up.

Remember.... THE GODZ ARE ROCK AND ROLL MACHINES!

Product Description

From singer/songwriter/worship leader/youth pastor Evan Wickham comes his highly anticipated debut CD entitled "Mysterious Things." It is an album filled with songs of worship and longing for Jesus from the high-energy praise song "House of the Holy One" to the worshipful chorus "Hallelujah Jesus" (also heard on "Worship Generation") to the intimate ballad "Burning." These 13 original tracks not only reveal Evan's musical artistry, but also a relentless desire to draw near to his Savior.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Talent That Praises God!!!!.......2007-01-08

I bought this album after hearing our worship band play "Hallelujah Jesus" expecting to find only a song or 2 that I really enjoyed and was blown away by the open song "Prelude" and 12 others that show a man who is really using his talents for God. Each song is filled with such emotion from Evan's voice and such creativity in the music and arrangements!!! "Who You Are," "I Love You," "Waterfall," and "Hallelujah Jesus" are songs worth hearing again and again.

5 out of 5 stars The Consensus: Amazing!!.......2006-05-13

I have been traveling around the country the last couple of months and everywhere I go I hear people playing this new CD by Evan. I commonly ask people what they think of the album and everybody says, "Amazing," followed by some comment about how gifted Evan is, how great each song on the album is, and how blessed they have been listening to it. I wholeheartedly agree. This is a great worship album.

5 out of 5 stars Artful, Ardent Worship! This Album is a Great Find!.......2006-04-06

From the opening chords and vocals of "Prelude" and "Nobody Else" to the haunting piano of "Burning", this CD is one of the most creative, inspired, and lush worship CDs that I have ever heard.

Referencing piano driven Britpop akin Keane and Aqualung, Rufus Wainwright, modern worship, and alt-country, Evan's first CD echoes with sounds that will stay spinning in your CD tray or burn batteries in your iPod for months to come.

Notable tracks are "Nobody Else", "House Of The Holy One", "Pour Out Your Spirit, Lord", "Hallelujah Jesus", and "Burning". Pick up this CD if you love great worship music, or if you want to relax and be inspired to consider the Lord in all of his might!
