bought for nostalgia maybe; but I still really like it!.......2006-12-19
I got this via Amazon UK. It's well worth it if you owned the original vinyl LP as I did and IF you liked it.
I'm a mid-western guy and this music appealed to the KISS Army in me.
"Under the Table", "Cross Country" and the great cover of Golden Earring's "Candy's Going Bad" are 3 classic hard rock tracks.
"Side one" isn't bad either....
I haven't heard the "bonus tracks" yet. I am on my 2nd spin thru the first album.---okay I put 'Luv Kage' on...I Like It! Very KISS-like.
I never expected to see the Godz on compact disc. I don't know what someone at Black Rose Records in Germany is thinking but I am happy he gave a green light to put the Godz 1st album and most of the 2nd (which I only have on cassette) on disc.
The transfer isn't perfect but geez my Casablanca copy was no gold disc either.
Power Rock from USA Indeed. Rockers don't ignore this classic slice of Hard Road Rock'n'Roll!
The Godz are rock and roll machines!.......2006-11-18
From the early 70s until now I've played in bands, seen bands, watched bands, listened to bands, reviewed concerts and albums. I've honest-to-goodness seen or heard literally thousands upon thousands of bands.
I don't think I'm overly picky or critical or anything. My standards aren't particularly low, either.
I really like the Godz. Have since their first album came out. I liked the second one more than the first one, but they were both good. This collection is a combination of stuff from both of ther first two LPs.
The Godz ain't gonna rewrite the book on anything. What they are gonna do is give you an album that's a boatload (or, in the case of the Godz, a bikeload) of fun to listen to - start to finish - every time you listen to it.
On their first LP, they even redo a couple Golden Earring tunes, the most respectable of which is Candy's Going Bad.
Can't go wrong with the Godz. Period.
CAN YOU SAY GREAT "BAR BAND"???.......2005-12-18
The Godz were a staple in Columbus during the '70s. They were by far the most popular bar band in, and around, the Ohio State University. The Godz were a really terrific show to see. They laid it on the line every night. Nothing fancy. Nothing artsy-fartsy. Just a group of guys assaulting your senses with hard-driving, in-your-face, guitar-based rock and roll. And, judging by the huge crowds at the Columbus Agora, Varsity Club, and numerous other places up and down High Street (yes, that is its real name...), people loved them. 'Gotta Keep a Runnin' is really a very good rock pseudo-anthem. Cool song. '714', 'Under the Table' and 'Go Away' are pretty cool, too. Plus, the cover of Golden Earring's, 'Candy's Goin Bad' is OFF THE CHARTS!!! This album is well worth having. Just take it for what it is. Oh, and if any of the Godz read this, how about a REUNION?????
Great Rock n' Roll.......2005-10-09
The Godz had to be seen live to be fully comprehended. The studio album output only scratches at the surface of what is was like to see The Godz brand of molten high intensity rock n' roll. I truly miss this kind of fun and intensity.
This CD unfortunately is an import (potential boot)and I'm not sure how much (if any) royalties that Eric Moore and Chatfield see from this.
A great album from one of the underrated great rock bands.
Decent hard rock.......2005-06-14
Ha! I remember The Godz! A friend of mine had this album and we used to bug another friend (big Genesis fan) by playing Gotta Keep a Runnin'. The song has this goofy singing part: "The Gods are Rock and Roll Machines" It annoyed him to no end.
There are only a few standout/memorable songs; the aforementioned track, Under the Table, and Candy's Going Bad. Fairly strong hard rock, but nothing unusual or special.

New cd.......2007-01-19
I have never ordered anything from Amazon.com or from a person online like I did for this cd. However, I was very pleased with the timeliness that the product came & the cd was exactly like it was posted...brand new, still in the shrink rap. I was very excited with the cd & so was the person I gave it to as a gift. I would definately order something again. Thank you!
One of the best live albums ever.......2004-08-29
the godz rip and roar through this album. all the classics perfomed
as tight as possible. they breathe new life in to the great songs.
i found a copy awhile back on ebay and just picked up another one for a good friend of mine. he is japanese and has never heard of the godz. i was lucky to have seen them a few times back in the day. KILLER BAND !!!!!! should have been much bigger than they were.
Just like High Street Agora back in 77........2004-05-31
Having seen the Godz back in their heyday in Columbus I can say this disc captures the Godz live riots pretty well. Yeah, they're basically a biker band but they have a nice two guitar sound that is definitely distinct.
Excellent production makes this disc sound very up to date. Mark Chatfield is a very good guitarist and knows how to make a live recording sound even better. He adds lots of nice intro riffing and interesting leads that aren't repeated over and over. The gritty vocals are decent as they switch back and forth from Glen Cataline (drummer), Eric Moore (bassist) and Mark (guitar). This is a two guitar attack as they've asked Eric Mauk to fill in on rhythm guitar and he does exactly what he's supposed to. Overall definitely worth your $$ if you ever saw 'em and wonder if Eric's rant during "Gotta Keep A Runnin'" can still pump the crowd's adrenaline up.
Remember.... THE GODZ ARE ROCK AND ROLL MACHINES!
Godz Are Rock n Roll.......2004-03-14
This Rocks! But there's nothing better than the real thing! I saw the Godz in Columbus, Ohio, up close and personal, they were truly the best band of their era. I would highly recommend this album for hard rock fans.

underrated.......2004-07-08
It's folksy in ports, psychedelic in others, and "Womban" sounds like the Troggs and the Fugs had a jam session with some cavemen and brought the tape recorder. The Psychedelic is that free-form rock sound, and you can really catch the vibe off of all that noise. The folk stuff is almost pathetic (but still good for a laugh), although the opener "Ruby Red" is a fantastic piece of morose mock-folk. "In My Shadow" is wierd, and comes and goes much too quickly. Splurge 10 damn dollars and get something unique like this, you won't regret it.

I saw this c.d. was 3 stars and was wondering who the two fools were that reviewed it........2005-07-29
It simply amazes me how much these people obviously don't know the music they're listening to. First of all, Esoteric doesn't just "drop in" in a song, he's part of the Demigodz just as much as he's part of Army of the Pharoahs. You're saying Celph stole the shows but he's probably the worst rapper on the c.d. He certainly brings his own unique flavor to the EP but I would never say he's one of the best of the Demigodz. As for any reasons why this c.d. should NOT be 5 stars is simply the length. In my own opinion the c.d. really just leaves you wanting more (could be the point, just guessing), but everyone has to remember that it IS an EP. Overall, combination of Apathy's lyrics, Celph's pugilistic flow, and the rest of the gang's individual styles make this c.d. a must-have for any fan of any of the rappers listed in the group.
Solid Punchlines.......2002-05-05
This EP has solid beats and rhymes but none of the songs have any concepts. They are just straight up bragging, thug lyrics with some real good punch lines but nothing more. If that's what your looking for than the cd is damn solid but otherwise it leaves you dissapointed. The punchlines are damn sick though. With Celph Titled's line in the song Don't You Even Go There stealing the show - "certified officially, we bring the ill flow/ and make headlines like a corduroy pillow" - Celph Titled. Esoteric stops by on Captivate/Deactivate to drop a sick verse ending with Apathy asking"yo, esoteric when you bringin the pain son" Eso responds,"it's probably gettin done as we speak like Jenna Jameson". Word.
Not as good as it could have been, but still worth a listen.......2002-04-27
This album was kind of disapointing to me, while it is just an EP and it is a posse album, it is also not as good as it could have been. The beats, mostly by Celph Titled, but also by Apathy and JJ Brown, are all very solid and at times downright banging. Perhaps the biggest mishap of the EP is calling itself a Demigodz album. In fact this album is basically an Apathy and Celph Titled album, with a few guest shots from other Demigodz. Rise and Louis Logic, the most creative and interesting members of the crew, are not as present as they should be, with Rise only droping one thirty second verse on the whole EP. In my opinion Celph Titled outshines Apathy on the mic and behind the boards on this album, perhaps showing that he should be off on his own. And while at times Apathy shows off his impecable delivery, he and Celph have both sort of stagnated in holier-than-thou, and "I'm gangsta" lyrical modes. If you are a big Demigodz fan, definitely pick this up, because it is a solid release and it does come at a nice EP cost.
