5 out of 5 stars The Dawn of New Music.......2007-07-17

I received Scott Walker's Tilt today, and have just finished listening to all the pieces. As many reviewers noted, the pieces in Tilt may not be instantly enjoyable (one may remember that many things that are "instantly enjoyable" may not be memorable, after all); however, I believe that those who have been to an avant-garde theatrical performance and have enjoyed the experience would most probably appreciate Scott's album Tilt. As for me, I thoroughly appreciated the musical pieces in this album. They were both eerily beautiful and thought provoking. Some pieces seem to hold more personal significances (to Scott himself) but others seem to have more universal resonance. As for his lyrics, Scott seems to utilize the connotative and metaphorical functions of language freely and consciously. For this reason, we may interpret each piece differently, but there is no need for fretting over the "correct" interpretation of each piece (as many post-structuralists say, language is finally unstable). Nevertheless, if you are familiar with Freud's Interpretations of Dreams you may want to apply the same interpretative method (I did and I feel that I comprehended some pieces better).

Scott Walker was my musical idol when I was a teenager in Japan. I bought most of his albums and adored his beautiful voice and person. Indeed, the Walker Brothers concert was the only pop concert that I had ever attended. However, due to the rigor of my education and relocation (I'm now living in U.S.A. and working as a college professor) I have almost totally forgotten about his music. Now that I re-discovered the glory and courage of his music I have been buying up his CDs through Amazon.com. I listen to his more immediately accessible music (both to my senses and emotions) when I just want to feel, and I listen to Tilt and Drift (which I'm planning to purchase) when I want to be jolted out of my complacency. Scott Walker's music is highly recommended. In particular, those who are fed up with the highly commodified music of recent years may appreciate his music very much.

Finally, I hope that Amazon will make Stephen Kijak's documentary, Scott Walker: 30 Century Man, available to us Americans.

2 out of 5 stars A Remarkable Album by a Serious Musician.......2007-07-05

There aren't many albums about pinball machines, and this is not one of them.

I'm not a fan of Scott Walker. It's not that I dislike him, I just haven't heard any of his music and I have no interest in it. I was not alive when The Walker Brothers were popular and I am not the kind of person who is attracted to underground legends. I am drawn to "Tilt" because it is frequently described as one of the most uncommercial, offputting, extreme pop albums ever, an operatic analogue of PiL's "Flowers of Romance" or Terence Trent D'Arby's "Neither Fish Nor Flesh". I love extremes, but in this respect Tilt it a disappointment. The music is odd, but not unimaginable. It has abrupt dynamic shifts, and there is no pop; it is often formless, like the last two Talk Talk records, but it is recognisable as music.

Nonetheless it is the kind of album that would clear the floor at a disco or a party. Like many sincere artistic statements, Tilt has an air of camp, and I found it easy to laugh at. Scott Walker's voice is hard to take seriously unless you are a fan. His voice reminds me of the old Bugs Bunny cartoon where Elmer Fudd sang "kill the rabbit" to a tune by Wagner. As I listen to "The Cockfighter" I am not concentrating on the music, I am thinking of Elmer Fudd dressed as a Rhine Maiden, singing "kill the wabbit", and I am thinking about cocks. The production on "The Cockfighter" exploits extreme dynamic range. The song starts with quiet music and crackling noises, and then shifts to very loud drums. It has a one-note saxophone solo. It is not as extreme as the reviews say. The drums sound weak. I was not floored.

The album does however gets off to a good start with "Farmer in the City", which has Scott Walker emoting into a big echo chamber, with a strings orchestra grinding moodily in the background. It is a tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini, an intellectual newspaper columnist stroke filmmaker who is exactly the kind of person you would expect Scott Walker to write a tribute song about. I have no idea how the lyrics relate to Pasolini's life, but the music is spooky and the song conveys an atmosphere. It works.

"Bouncer See Bouncer" is similar to Farmer in the City, but without the strings. It has tinkly bells and a bass drum instead. The middle eight drops the bells and the drum in favour of some horns and a harp. It is very pretty, although if you can't stand Walker's vocal style then the song, and the whole album, is a dead loss, because he is mixed high up and the accompaniment is often very low-key. Scott sings as if he is experiencing fear beyond comprehension, disgust, loathing, and insane ecstasy, but he does so in a mannered style.

"Manhattan" is similar to Bouncer See Bouncer but with church organ and some jazzy drums. Although I am not a hi-fi freak, I imagine that this album is a favourite of hi-fi freaks, because it has the same kind of sterile, detailed sound as a Steely Dan album. "Face on Breast" combines the basic concept of the Scott's voice plus instruments idea with a rolling beat that is clearly derived from "I Can't Dance" by Genesis. "Bolivia '95" starts with some funky bass before turning into a relatively conventional pop song. "Patriot" is much happier-sounding than the rest of the album, although the happy mood is undermined by violins that sound like a million chattering locusts bursting from the flesh of a hundred dying seagulls. In the context of the rest of the album, Patriot's cheerfulness is unsettling. "Tilt" is a mid-tempo rocker with a prominent bassline. "Rosary" is a short coda. When a writer is bored with his subject he ceases to evoke, and instead describes.

This is the kind of album that only gets five-star reviews, because non-fans of Scott Walker will never hear it, or hear of it, and will never be roused to write about it. I wish he had written more than a series of mid-tempo, vocal-led operatic numbers with generally low-key backing. The Cockfighter is the only song that breaks this template - it has a section that sounds like industrial rock circa 1995 - but the rest bores me. It's a lot of jazzy vocal improvisations with a tasteful, twisted art music backdrop, dead-sounding spishy drums, fretless bass, and sound effects. If you search Google for this album the next result after Amazon.com is an article entitled "Tilt by Scott Walker: A remarkable album by a serious musician", and when I read "a remarkable album by a serious musician" I subconsciously reach for the safety catch on my non-existent Browning.

5 out of 5 stars "It was the journey of a life".......2006-05-11

It took me 11 years to decide to buy this album. When it was first released in 1995 i was unable to come to terms with the material from it i heard on alternative radio in The Netherlands (VPRO). I was 19 and no novice to 'difficult' music. About 5 or 6 years later i decided to give TILT another try. Still no connection; it seemed so pretentious i burst out laughing. When i started listening to opera a few years back, i regularly found myself singing: "Do i hear 21, 21, 21..." (from FARMER IN THE CITY) and i knew i was going to have to give TILT another try.

i was never unaware of Scott Walker (real name: Noel Scott Engel) as i knew of his past with the Walker Brothers, whose music never left a lasting impression on me. TILT was, however, my first experience of the music Walker made as a solo artist. Recently i bought both TILT and THE DRIFT (already released in Europe) together and i was stunned by what i failed to understand 11 years ago.

TILT is a timeless masterpiece of bleak, austere beauty. Although the music is the very definition of commercial suicide (not unlike Nico's THE MARBLE INDEX) coupled with lyrics that are nothing short of cryptic, TILT draws the interested listener back time and again to it's lackluster soundworld. Walker's musical language is mainly made up of ambient, modern classical music and industrial, the overall ambiance of the album defies categorisation. In a time of record companies looking for marketable music, TILT is certainly a statement of artistic freedom, lack of fear, courage and persistance.

As much as i would like to analyse the individual components to make it easier for the uninitiated listener, i feel at a loss when trying to do so, as if disecting a bacteria with a scalpel.

TILT is simply "the journey of a life".

5 out of 5 stars Essence of Scott Walker?.......2006-04-06

Some reviewers have pointed to the difference between Scotts earlier records and this. However I think his records have always been slightly ominous and soundscapey. Listen to for instance "Such A Small Love" from "Scott", it's really not that different. It's more like he has been working at refining that sound and cutting away the fat and has now ended up with this more minimalistic music. Granted the songs doesn't follow conventional song forms, but that doesn't mean they are formless, it's just different structures. As mentioned one of the songs is dedicated to Pasolini and a lot of the songs are like little movies, just as the sounds also reminds of the same austerity, that you might find in a Pasolini movie. Of course some people might complain, that it isn't pretty like his old records, however I find that exactly because he seems to scrap conventional song forms and follow his own ideas, it makes this a very inspiring and liberating record.

4 out of 5 stars Great loose fusion deal!.......2006-01-28

This album has the feel of the old Beck fusion with a shredders twist. It might be to loose and jammy for those wooden shred lovers. So have an open mind to this funky stuff. It's damn good shred jazz-fusion album . It's enjoyable as can be with it's laid back feeling . Anyone who likes Beck, Dimeola, or Morse would enjoy this.

5 out of 5 stars Fierce battle rages on !!.......2004-06-26

First of all I am the great fan of guitar instrumental music. In Japan, sadly enough GREG is so underrated among guitar DIEHARDS.This CD showcases the fine prowess and outstanding versatility of these guitar players. These two guys play their guitar like the two heavy weight champions of the boxing match. They never compromise against commercial music. They did what they wanted to do.So If you hear this CD you will surely be knocked down to the ground and forced to bite the dust. They really had a fierce competition from start to end. This CD never lets you down.

2 out of 5 stars yuk!.......2002-12-20

Half the songs are written by Howe and the other half by Kotzen. I think Kotzen's song contributions are pretty bad, although the first song ("Tilt") has an amazing solo by Kotzen that I may never forget. I think Kotzen mainly junks up the rest of the album. Skip it.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2000-06-21

The best shreders in town play together in this fusion tour-de-force. The 1st track, "Title", gives the tone of the record and is absolutely killer. Richie showcases his usual fast runs throughout the album, while Greg mixes lightning chops with unexpected, cool jazzy licks. A must buy.

5 out of 5 stars fantasy+tecnique=whatta record?!.......1999-11-02

When I first listened to this record I was shocked. This two virtuosos had improved even more than I expected.I had no words to describe it to my friends who were interested in this kind of music. But I think that here Greg Howe shows more mature playing than does Richie Kotzen, but,of course, this is quite hard to be noticed.Although I still think, BRAVO!!!

5 out of 5 stars One of my favorite CD's.......2001-11-27

This is an _awesome_ album. Every song is great. Well worth the price. Very different from the (...) pop 'bands' of today--Cinder Block on vocals, not to mention their finesse with the instruments, and they can actually write songs too. One of the best Berkeley bands. I've had this CD for almost a year now and I still listen to it just about every day. Go for it! Buy copies for all your friends, etc

4 out of 5 stars Tilt - Play Cell: Great Voice & Lyrics.......2000-12-15

Tilt a great punk band with intelligent lyrics and a great singer (Cinder Block).. if you like this band it's a must have..

I especially like the songs "Crying Jag", "Play Cell", "Fool to Blame", "Yellow Bellies" and "Idiot Lips". 8-)

5 out of 5 stars Breath Taking.......1999-08-02

Just listen to CInder's amazing vocals....Tilt's best work.. Well written and and well sung lyrics. A must for all Tilt fans. Recomended for all lovers of punk music.

4 out of 5 stars Play Cell: A Good Start For Tilt.......1998-09-07

Play Cell, while not being as fine-tuned as the later albums, is still a great listen for fans of punk, with two stand-out songs that are among Tilt's best: Crying Jag and Yellow Bellies.

5 out of 5 stars I can't get enough!!!.......2005-06-30

You would think that after listening to a CD as many times I have this one, you'd get at least a little sick of it. This CD never gets old! I have always loved TILT but this is by far the best. If you know someone who is in to punk bands with strong female vocals, this is it.
If you've never listened to TILT, this is a great place to start.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best bands you've never heard of.......2002-02-09

It's so rare that you find a punk band that combines intelligent songwriting with superb musicianship these days. Tilt is a good indication that straight up, no frills rock is not yet dead. And this CD is a great exempler of their skills.

Cinder Block is probably the best female vocalist working in a band today. Her soaring bluesy delivery recalls the late, great Mia Zapata, and her lyrics are really quite brilliant. On "Viewers Like You", the songs range from the starkly political ("Jenny Segall", "Die of Shame") to the darkly humorous ("Animated Corpse"). Add the solid guitarwork of Terry Bischoff, and you have musical magic.

With every new Tilt CD I keep waiting for them to break out to the big time. I guess it is not to be. Ah well, they are too good for radio anyway

5 out of 5 stars cinder block is awesome.......2000-08-29

i think this cd is fantastic. i love cinder's vocals, and cinder herself is quite an inspiration, being a woman in such a male-dominated industry. I love how she puts such power and vocal energy into each of the songs. Tilt's vocals and lyrics reign supreme in the punk world. i was also hooked on tilt from 'Til It Kills (buy that cd!) and i think Viewers Like You demonstrates that same raw energy that cinder just naturally generates. I was not at all dissappointed in this cd. And unlike another critic, i feel that the lyrics are fantastic. Cinder writes the best punk lyrics (i love the big words)-- they're filled with so much more depth and meaning than the average punkers, which is partly why i like the music so much. She writes about the issues that she feels strongly about, and includes themes that everyone can identify with. I like her use of metaphors in war room and fine ride. Tilt produces so much more than just 'music.' i really believe she puts her heart and soul into the music and it becomes very evident when you listen. Go and buy this cd... and then til it kills, and then collect em all, and then playcell. you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 stars One of those rare albums that clicks the first time through........2000-01-27

I've been listening to bits of Tilt over the years, but when I got this album it was as if I suddenly woke up. This is such a complete album. I know it's so cliche to say, but this one absolutely rocks!

5 out of 5 stars One of the best punk albums of '99!.......1999-10-13

This album is punk perfection. These have got to be some of Cinder's most meaningful lyrics to date, and the music is so damn intense. I recently got a chance to meet and interview Cinder Block, and she personifies internal and external beauty. Buy this NOW, then buy "Til it Kills" and the older Tilt discs.

5 out of 5 stars The New King Of Californian Cool.......2003-10-29

After the shut down of his previous label Permanent Press Walter Clevenger forms his own label Brewery and ends four years of silence with "Full Tilt & Swing". Imagine a world where The Raspberries, Buck Owens' Buckaroos , The Clarence White era Byrds and Brinsley Schwarz jam nightly and you're getting warm to "Full Tilt & Swing". Dominated by Clevenger's Nick Lowe-esque vocals and often witty songwriting and a band that loves to twang and thunder this is a CD for those who thought The Eagles eventual slickness gave L.A music a bad name. Hey, what's not to like? Non-dopey lyrics about love, guitars that take no prisoners and a front man who has real imagination...we have lift off. Just buy!!

5 out of 5 stars Ignore The Other Reviews, This Album Rocks!!!.......2006-01-17

This album totally took me by surprise. Reading all the reviews giving this album an average to mediocre rating I wasn't to overly excited about picking it up. I finally brought myself to purchase "Explorer", and I was pleasently surprised. All I have to say is all the other reviewers need to get out of '1998' and evolve with the times. The style of music they're listening for is over & played out. You're only gonna find that cheeseball stuff from producers like "DJ Sammy", "ATB", "Darude", "Ian Van Dahl" all of which have been banished to American Soil, 'cause everyone in Europe have evolved, and moved on. With "Explorer" you'll get some major bangers, and a couple softy's, all very different sounding showcasing their versatility. People really bashed on "AVB's - Shivers" for being diverse, I thought that one blew away "76" by a mile though. So I guess if you're looking for average cornball cheese trance look elsewhere(I think "ATB" just put out a greatest hits). If you want some serious mature dance music, give this one a spin, you won't be disapointed.

5 out of 5 stars smitten.......2005-07-26

Excellent cd. I like the variety. Like most electronica listeners, they're not influenced by just one style. The trancey "the world doesn't know" is very listenable and "new day" is top 40 style pop candy. I can't say I really dwell in this genre (listen to more nu-folk & rock), and maybe it's because we dont normally get much trance in the L.A. club scene, but I'm smitten and refreshed by Explorer's sound.

3 out of 5 stars The Good, the Bad, and the Disappointingly Mediocre.......2005-07-19

Tilt's debut artist album functions more as a collection of individual tracks, than as a cohesive album. And while this isn't necessarily a bad thing, somehow you expected more from Tilt, the trance masters that gave us perennial classics like "I Dream" ten years ago. Known for their deep progressive trance/house hits, here Tilt explores (no pun intended) different genres including breaks, ambient, and vocal pop. Results are mixed. Where "Venus In Transit" succeeds in it's subtle beauty, "New Day" might disappoint with it's syrupy sweet vocal pop. The few more-or-less traditional trance/house songs included here are phenomenal. Last year's hypnotically gorgeous "The World Doesn't Know" is used as the opener (slightly edited for the album release), and so is the thunderous "Twelve". These two tracks alone are worth the price of the album alone (if you don't have them already of course). But all of these different styled tracks mixed together doesn't make for a cohesive album listening experience. Listen to the first two tracks, and then the last two tracks, and you'll swear your listening to two different artists. This really isn't that big of a deal considering most people don't listen to albums beginning to end every time anyway (hardcore electronic music fans aside of course), the average quality of the majority of the tracks here only equates to roughly slightly better than mediocre. Overall, not bad music, but not especially great either.

4 out of 5 stars A very good artist album from a legend of the genre........2005-07-13

Tilt's been on the progressive scene now for several years, and here they've come up with an artist album of varying styles. Trance, breakbeat, techno, downtempo, house, it's all here, and they've done a decent job. Artist albums in any musical style can never be solid all the way through, as it's not like a mix album where you can take the best of the best tracks and splice them all together. I think electronic fans are spoiled and use to mixes chock-filled with anthems from top to bottom, so they are very hard on artist albums.

I only dislike 3 tracks on here, Venus in Transit, Antivalentine and Crescendo. Tracks like 12, Goodbye, and The World Doesn't Know are all current trance anthems, and Control Me is a fantastic vocal track. A New Day is rather pop-like, but it's a very catchy pop like song and I like it a lot. There's much to like on here, and while I said I disliked only 3, there are a few average ones like Explorer and Electronic Poledancer, but listenable nonetheless.

Overall, a very above average artist album and one every Tilt fan should definitley own, and every other trance fan should consider owning. Also check out fellow label mate Probspot's new artist album.

3 out of 5 stars many great moments plus a couple misses.......2005-06-11

tilt's latest brings together some proven winners (the already released tracks 'world doesn't know' and 'control me') with a number of very listenable tracks that as a whole produce a feeling something like sasha 'airdrawndagger' in that it's great music to travel with. though it falls short of sasha's masterpiece, it does succeed at creating a safe place between your ears from which to observe the world whizzing by. the sleeper of the disc is 'venus in transit', often confusing to reviewers, but in many ways one of the most complex tracks on the disc. it bumps along on something of a jig, a wonderful 3/8 time signature with enough randomness added to be confusing if you're not counting. DJs should be aware of this and mix accordingly. the low point on the compilation has to be 'tokyo breaks' though even it has beautiful moments. it doesn't fit the tone of the rest of the tracks, and contains some jarring, brash sounds, perhaps like what you see out a subway window as you surface in a nighttime downtown. some reviewers have really enjoyed 'electronic poledancer', but i'm not sure what the big deal is: it never finds a way out of banal, common territory. however 'explorer', wonderfully downbeat with seductive, cabaret-style vocals by lianne brookson, forms a high point nearer to the end of the disc. 'new day' could very easily be heard on a radio near you; it's gentle, pretty and consumable. individual tracks are outstanding; overall the disc is a nice achievement but not a monument.

5 out of 5 stars Great Ensemble Work.......2004-03-01

After reading several reviews of this 1974 album that each breathlessly declared the drummer to be extremely fast I came very close to not buying it. After all, I value ensemble work above all else and abhor grandstanding in my progressive rock. In spite of it all however, I bought a copy, popped it in the player, and my fears swiftly dissolved as I listened intently to this somewhat jazz/rock fusion-ish progressive rock. What greeted my ears was intricate ensemble playing; great synthesizer parts; excellent vocals (in Italian); virtuosic soloing and playing by all musicians (especially the guitarist); and soft, plaintive woodwind, violin, and mellotron parts. The compositions are superb and display hints of Starless and Bible Black-period King Crimson here and there, with a little 74-75 Mahavishnu Orchestra thrown in for good measure. Apart from the more traditional prog rock pieces on the disc, the title track is distinct in that it just features the violin, mellotron, and ARP 2600. Oh and yes the drummer is quite good and emphasizes the top part of the kit in a manner similar to Michael Giles (King Crimson), Bill Bruford (Yes/King Crimson/U.K.), and Narada Michael Walden (Mahavishnu Orchestra). At points, there are some very impressive rave ups where the guitarist and the drummer are both going 100 miles an hour, with rapid fire and aggressive guitar soloing racing alongside a "head over your heels" delivery of snare buzzes and rolls, tom-tom fills, and unbelievably good hi-hat and cymbal work. Although loaded with chops, the drummer is also capable of great sensitivity, and during the quieter, more reflective moments on the disc (and there are a few), the drum kit is abandoned altogether and various bits of percussion and cymbal swells are used to subtly accent some of the keyboard, violin, and woodwind parts. This is excellent stuff and is highly recommended. Chances are that if you like this, you will appreciate L'Araignee-Mal (1975) by the French band Atoll, which is very similar and boasts equally (if not moreso) impressive musicianship.

5 out of 5 stars Along with"Maxophone"the best italian 70's fusionprog album........2003-02-11

In this album you find the exceptional drums by Furio Chirico but also an excellent guitar and bass work, well supported by the keyboards... of course it's a 70's "ante-litteram" fusion prog, by means also of Soprano Sax and Violin, which create a well balanced compromise between the complex harmonies in the vein of Gentle Giant and the softer melodic lines more PFM oriented... these could be the right references, nevertheless They are not a derivative band and, on the opposite, their original style has been influencing a lot of jazz prog stuff for a long time in Italy !! Moreover their ante litteram fusion style sometimes reminds me of Weather Report, but -unlike W.R.and often Mahavishnu Orchestra-A.&M. have a symphonic edge of their own !!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND BETTER THAN "GIRO DI VALZER ..."

5 out of 5 stars TILT leaves you feeling that way.......2002-11-24

This album is absolute ear candy for the first seven of eight tracks. The pace is breathtaking and playing as tight as most bands only dream to achieve. Much of the credit for this goes to Furio Chirico, perhaps one of the busiest drummers you will ever hear. The one sung track, "Strips" is a perfect example of how the band is able to bridge a breathy, cloudy gentleness of mood with the happy joyful chaos that swirls around most of the album. Another moment that will leave you breathless is the way In cammino Venegoni begins with an almost motionless sax solo and then slowly swirls around itself to a full take-off. What? You're still reading this, and you haven't bought TILT yet?

4 out of 5 stars Jazzy Prog.......2002-02-03

This 1976 recording by the Italian outfit Arti & Mestieri is a terrific outing. PFM, King Crimson(Bruford-Wetton era) and Frank Zappa can all be heard as influences. The musicianship is top-notch. The compositions are somewhat fusion-like but still more rooted in prog than jazz. Vocals in Italian sound similar to PFM prior to Bernardo Lanzetti joining the band. Highly recommended...Simon

5 out of 5 stars Great Italian prog/fusion.......2001-08-30

I'm not much of a fusion fan. Many albums in that genre just simply bore me. Most of that kind of music sounds like a lot of wanking and little of anything that I find particularly engaging. But Arti + Mestieri managed to combine the best elements of prog and fusion and make it very interesting, with absolutely nothing on here I find boring! Basically I hear a little PFM (particularly in the vocal passages), a little Zappa, and of course fusion. The band had no shartage of instruments here: guitar, sax, clarinet, bass, drums, ARP 2600 synthesizer, Mellotron, electric piano, and of course, the occasional vocals (in Italian). By far the thing that sticks out is the fast, busy, and furious drumming of Furio Chiroco (who was previously with another Italian prog band, The Trip). This guy will absolutely blow you away. He gives many of those big time fusion drummers like Billy Cobham and Jack DeJohnette a run for their money! You wonder at times how this guy can pull it off without needing extra oxygen. He can drum so fast that at times you can't tell his fills from just super fast drumming. In fact the rest of the band has trouble keeping up with him. If you're a lover of symphonic prog and fusion, or even if you hate fusion, give this album a try. Plus I quite highly recommend this to Mellotron lovers as this album has no shortage of tron!

5 out of 5 stars A RARE MASTERPIECE.......2001-05-17

Why is Tilt not as big as I wish they were? This album is one of those rare gems that you listen to straight through without skipping over any of the tracks. Each song is perfect & the album is a rare masterpiece. There aren't many perfect albums out there ("Revolver", "Sgt. Pepper's...", "the Real Thing", "Master of Puppets" & "All That You Can't Leave Behind" are the ones I can think of right now) but "Til It Kills" is definitely one of them.

5 out of 5 stars what a woman!.......1999-10-08

This band is incredible. Not only is every member talented, but the lyrics are like nothing else. Cinder Block's words are intelligent and sharp, her vocals are strong and quick, and everything falls into place with just the same perfection. The talent extends to their other 3 CD's too though, don't stop at this one. Seeing them live NEVER gets old, they always put on an excellent show.

5 out of 5 stars Til It Kills: Tilt's Masterpiece.......1998-09-07

Til It Kills stands out as Tilt's Masterpiece. I go back and forth with Collect 'Em All and this album as my favorite at the time, but I acknowledge the fact that I think this is their best album, with their best overall songs and best overall lyrics. And to top it off, there is even a punk love song, Berkeley Pier"", which could not be more perfect. For those of you who like fast songs, Leanin' Like A Barn and Lips Tits Hips. And there is nothing like going to a Tilt concert and singing along with the Cinder to "Libel".

5 out of 5 stars Dats my potnaaaaa.......2005-04-02

Yeah, this is str8 classic. The production is tight with nice bumping beats. Rapping is tight with good flows on most the tracks. Has the single 'Dats my potna' which is another good reason to get it. But altogether a really tight album that you should have at home if you don't. This is another classic of 1994. Peace!

5 out of 5 stars BABY BASH's first group!!!.......2003-09-23

Classic Bay Area CD and first group of Universal's own baby Bash/Baby Beesh. Great production by Johnny Z. Hard to find, if you see this album pick it up.
