Glenn Hughes At Top Form.......2006-05-27

If you are a Glenn Hughes or a Deep Purple fan of the Coverdale/Hughes era you should get this CD. Although I thought Deep Purple took a step back when Ian Gillian and Roger Glover left Deep Purple and David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes joined the band they made some great songs. This CD in my opinion captures Glenn Hughes at his best singing some of the best Deep Purple and his own songs live in concert. His voice is in top notch form and the sound is great for a live recording. If the rock and roll Gelnn Hughes is what you like here it is in all it's glory. At times I can give or take some of his solo stuff but this is kick [...] all the way. Listen to it loud and enjoy.

From the opening track I was hooked! Unbelievable. This CD has taken up residence in my car player.Much to my kids' disgust! The ex purple tracks "Burn", "Stormbringer", "Lady Double Dealer", "Gettin' Tighter" make me wonder WHO was the voice of DP. But when you mix in the likes of "Into the Void" and "Coast to Coast". You have one unbelievable album. Recorded over two nights in 1994, makes you wonder if their are any more tracks in the archive somewhere?
(Just a whisper: Soulfully Live in the City of Angels is better!)

Como fan de Deep Purple, conozco la mayoría de trabajos de los ex integrantes del grupo. Sin embargo, el estilo funk-jazz de Glenn Hughes no es mi fuerte. Asi que al desbandarse el grupo en 1976 fué él al único al que no le seguí la pista. Ahora, 25 años después escucho este disco y realmente me ha impactado. Desde los primeros momentos del CD sentí un escalofrío por todo mi cuerpo, ese tipo de escalofríos que solo te dán cuando recuerdas algo muy tuyo, muy intenso. Cada vez que escuchaba los viejos temas de Deep Purple volvía esa sensación y el gusto de escuchar a un Glenn Hughes maduro, fuerte, enérgico, seguro de sí mismo y con un excelente grupo de músicos acompañandolo. Disfruté sobre todo la línea Hard Rock que maneja ahora, aunque el estilo funky que lo caracteriza también fue de mi agrado. Este CD es ahora uno de mis favoritos. Lo recomiendo ampliamente y más para los fans de Deep Purple y de Glenn Hughes. Ojalá que Glenn siga activo y "limpio" y que continúe así de fuerte como lo encontré en este CD.

The True Voice Of Rock.......2001-03-19

I have been fortunate enough to follow Glenn's music in its many styles and stages. One thing that is always true abou Glenn is his remarkable rane as a singer and his feel for the vibe of the music. This album is a true example of that range and vibe. The energy and flow of the album along with the song selection (and performance)makes it my pick for album of the year. No matter if the boy can sing the blues or sing Stevie Wonder remakes no singer takes you into the void the way Glenn does. Despite having 38 albums that feature Glenn's vocals, this along with Feel always top my play list.

cool GLENN! lets rock!.......2000-02-29

Glenn Hughes made his nostalgia with his Purple days on this Japan concert. He sang good, was a partnership of David Coverdale in Deep Purple at that time.....the whole songs are excellent,...as aBig deep Purple Fan iam not prejudice, I love the whole DP line up...Glenn see ya on the next tour,..cheers your fans

Burning Japan Live.......2002-02-08

A excelent display of Arch Enemy live. Only fault's I have with the disc is it's short play length, 48:47 to be exact, and the lack of songs from the first album "Black Earth". The enhanced feature is pretty cool though. I also like the matte slipcase it came in, but beware it gets scratches very easily. All in all, it was a well spent ($) and a great addition to any Arch Enemy fans collection. Buy it already!!

Great presentation, great CD..........2001-03-08

This live CD is great, except for two things: only 11 tracks for such great presentation, and BURY ME AN ANGEL is missing(I'd rather prefer less songs from the last album and more from the first and second). This Toy's Factory Edition presents a case with a really big double-sided poster, and extra booklet for Japan with lyrics, notes and history of the band,in english and japanese. The main booklet comes with lots of photos on stage. It comes, also, with a four-minute CD-ROM track where you'll find live video cuts, backstage, recording sessions, and M.Amott and S.D'Angelo in Studio Fedman giving us their opinion about this live album, and presenting Fredrik Nordstrom. Arch Enemy sounds killer on stage. Johan sings with a death metal voice instead his thick heavy voice that we're used to. It seems a great crowd and a great show. The other guys simply sound and rock like hell!!!!! If you're an Arch Enemy fan you should get this CD. Those $36 will be very well spent.

This, limited to Japan only, CD sounds good, audience is great, but there are too much songs from the latest (and the weakest IMHO) album. I think this show is short. Too short. This CD should cost [less].... There are some PC files on the disc (short interview, some live shots, pictures)
PS. I've found Arch Enemy/ Cathedral bootleg called "Black birth machine" (2CD) from Osaka 97. It's better than "Burning Japan"...
