Album Description
These road warriors from Detroit are back. This is, without a doubt, the most punishing and important album of their career. Traveling the world promoting "All Hail The Dead" with Fear Factory, Throwdown, From Autumn To Ashes, Bleeding Through, and Mastadon, these guys and gals have become notorious for putting on one of the best live shows metal and hardcore have seen in years. This will be put to the test with 11 new songs, as WOJ will undoubtedly reign supreme and deliver the most anticipated metal album of 2006.Customer Reviews:
Candice could tear your face off..........2007-03-28
There should be 6 stars for this one..........2006-12-16
This is the best hardcore band ever.......2006-12-02
It's not just about having a girl sing, musically they have blaring, energy filled riffs that are more energetic than any punk band, and then they pound it into you with as much for, as possible. This is perfect.
110% Improvement.......2006-09-15
The songwriting on this album has improved so much. the guitar riffs are much more intricate and thrashy, the drums are fast, pounding and full of brutal fills, and the vocals are very angry and brutal. The breakdowns are much improved as well. I know people wont agree with me on this one but i feel most of these breakdowns are better than the new unearth album.
Each song stands out on its own for each specific reason which is good cause it gives you an album that you have to listen to from start to finish. The most suprising element about this album is the ballad song which is number 9. The singer actually sings and sound really good and it has a nice solo in the song. It remings me of lacuna coil. It is also a good break between the destruction so you can catch your breath before the last two punishing tracks.
I suggest this album for anyone that likes unearth, shadows fall or any band that has either thrash elements or who likes great breakdowns. Go pick it up cause they deserve the exposure!!!
Buy this if you're looking for some really good heavy music.......2006-08-23
The songs on this disc have a more structured feel compared to the more free form hardcore style on their previous albums. All of the tracks here are good. Some standouts:
Track 1 - "A Trigger full of Promises" has one of the best lines on the album "If I load this gun, would you hold it to your heart and give your life for love"
Track 2 - "I know Hollywood and you ain't it" at 00:54 seconds, the guitar has this heavy old school thrash feel to it which carries through the rest of the song. Good stuff
Track 3 - "Hope you Die" is a quintessential Walls of Jericho song with demon speed guitar & magnum force vocals that make you want to tear *stuff* up.
Track 6 - "The Haunted" starts off slow & eerie with this chanting then gets going. The chanting turns into the chorus. Makes for a good fight song!
Track 9 - "No Saving Me" is a great mellow tune that shows off the band's musical talent. Plus Candace really flexes her singing skills (Reminds me of Angel off of 'The Bound Feed the Gagged').
This album is a must for Walls of Jericho fans. It should be required for any hardcore or metal fan. If you dig it & want to hear more Walls of Jericho check out 'The Bound Feed the Gagged' and 'All Hail the Dead'. Plus if you ever get a chance to see these guys live, do it. They are one of the most intense bands you'll ever see.

Well-played, yet boring.......2005-05-25
Pit Fiend.......2005-03-23
Above-average metalcore with a vicious chick singer. Sweet........2005-02-23
One area in which the band excels is song craft. The riffs are tight, the drumming is pummelingly great, and Candace's vocals are more biting and intense than most males'. The songs contain your standard breakdown every now and again, but do not feel as if the song is built entirely around the moshable sections (which is a heck of a lot more than Throwdown can say). The lyrics, while nothing special, are generally good and seem well thought-out. In the title track, Candace shrieks, "Look at her as she makes herself sick/ It should make us all sick/ We can't go on like this!" which I find pretty impressive for a hardcore band. The futility of striving for perfection doesn't usually find its way into many hXc bands' lyrics.
The production is incredible as well. The album sounds crisp and clear, and every instrument can be heard in equal proportions, allowing for maximum heaviness and brutality without sacrificing anything.
I give this four stars because it is not really breaking any new ground for hardcore, but is rather a great example of the genre at its best. Also highly recommended are Poison the Well's Opposite of December (when they were still good), Most Precious Blood's Nothing in Vain, and 100 Demons' In the Eyes of the Lord.
all hail the dead.......2004-11-12

Classic Debut...Remastered.......2006-12-02
It took a while for Helloween's signature power metal sound to develop though. Walls of Jericho, which is essentially an expanded version of their 1985 self-titled EP (later expanded to include the Judas EP), is more of a speed metal album than anything else. The lyrical content and imagery is pure power metal, but the music itself would please even the most die-hard Bay Area thrasher. The album is a bit rawer than the classic Keeper of the Seven Keys albums that would follow it, but the aggression and pure energy contained on Walls of Jericho more than make up for any lack of polish. You have to enjoy it for what it is - the first effort by a band that would go on to greater things. Besides that, Walls of Jericho contains two of the band's (and power metal in general's) all-time greatest songs - Victim of Fate and Ride the Sky.
Sanctuary finally got around to remastering Helloween's back catalog earlier this year, and they certainly did it right. In addition to digitally remastered sound, you get a bonus disc featuring 7 tracks. The disc features remixed versions of Murderer and Ride the Sky, live versions of Ride the Sky and Guardians (from the Judas EP), and three studio tracks - From the classic Death Metal split LP you get Oernst of Life (exactly what an Oernst is is anyone's guess) and Metal Invaders. A "surprise track" is also included, which turn out to be a completely spooky (and completely hilarious) version of White Christmas that sounds like an outtake from the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack! You also get expanded liner notes, photos, etc. plus a nifty slipcase for the disc.
This is what a remastered version of a classic album is supposed to look and sound like. If you're a Helloween fan and already own Walls of Jericho, it's time to replace your old version!
And remember, Heavy Metal (is the Law)!!!
Thank you Helloween.......2006-06-14
This particular remaster includes the original album plus the judas single, and then to add extra incentive, they added 7 b sides to a second disc. The disc one has been re-mastered and sound crisp, and as fresh as the day they were originally penned. It is the second disc that I want to stress as the best part of the new edition, and makes the investment worth it. The two versions of ride the sky (remix and Live) are both nice, and murderer remix and guardian live are cool too, But the tracks Oernst Of Life and Metal Invaders from the DEATH METAL compilation are the weight of this remaster. This is the first time the track Oernst has been anywhere easly available to the public since 1984. I have heard this song only once before this, but I did not have the 50-100 dollars to buy the vinyl Death Metal record to get it. It is one of the first tracks ever layed down by helloween, and is a classic fast, loud metal song that is a unrecognized gem of the early mid 80's metal days. The liner notes of this one also starts the story of the fledgling band, and has an interview with Michael Weikath (as do all of the re-masters series) that fills in more interesting facts of the boys from Hamburg.
Overall, this is the best thing that happened to metal since the 1995 re-masters of the Iron Maiden collection (1998 remasters good, but not all the goodie tracks). I wouldn't even hesitate to say this is more a important remasters series for metal of this genre, because it give helloween to re-gain the international recognition it should have again. The Walls Of Jericho are the best place to see the origins of one of Germany's best exports.

Truly Amazing!.......2007-06-02
"Ride The Sky", "Heavy Metal is the Law" and the thrashing closer, "How many tears" are staples of speed/thrash metal. The vocals of Kai Hansen will please MAIDEN fans and the drumming of Ingo (R.I.P.), with its frenzied double bass mayhem, will surely please most thrashers.
The album has lost NONE of its impact and in no way does this sound dated (this is, after all, power metal defined!).
Do yourselves a favor and buy this album right now!!!
One of the best, if not THE BEST, Helloween CD ever made........2005-12-22
So many Metal bands were started from this one CD.
The next 2 CDs after this one were the foundations of all Power Metal.
So many Metal bands were started from those 2 CDs as well.
(That's the history that CD).
(The music itself). Kai Hansen's singing is a little off here and there, but the guitar work is outstanding, and this is kick-you-in-your-face and take no prisoners Metal.
Helloween would never be this heavy ever again, even until today.
This was before Michael Kiske came into the band. He would come into the band on the next CD that came after this one.
Also, if you like the "Helloween EP" and "Walls of Jericho" CD, DEFINITELY make sure you get the "Batallions of Fear" CD and "Follow the Blind" CD from Blind_GuardiaN.
Those 2 Blind_GuardiaN CDs are a direct clone / exact replica of the "Helloween EP" and "Walls of Jericho" CD from Helloween. Even Kai Hansen sings some on the "Follow the Blind" CD from Blind_GuardiaN.

negative lyrics.
Kai Hansen,(Gamma Ray's leader today) if you don't know,he was the man who helped give name for this band , but the main idea
came from Ingo Schiwchtenberg ( dead drummer now ).
He was a guitarist and lead singer in this work. Many people say that
he didn't sing so well.
Yes, his deep voice wasn't so developed if we compare
it to his tuning in Gamma Ray ballads ( Farewell from Land of the free;
Pray from Somewhere out in space for instance)
There were more trebles.
However, he mantained his singing style in this cd in away that doesn't
harm. Hard rock vocalists have no obligation to be so tuned.
The exception is in "Starlight", where he was pretty flat:
1-"But a junkie was something to beEEeeEEeeEEeee!"
2- "StAAaarlieeghtt!"
Starlight talks about a tramp buddy that uses drugs and lives in a fantasy
world. At the start,we can hear him swaping radio stations . He finds
that Halloween song: "Happy , happy halloween, halloween,halloween..."
A burp is heard, Hansen shrieks "AAAAAAAHHHHH" and the rock starts.
The drums are the same in these tracks : Murderer, Guardians , Metal invaders
Heavy metal is the law , Judas, How many tears?, Cry for freedom
Ignore this and appreciate the guitar work:
Hansen doesn't make the same number of distortions like in Keeper of the seven keys
but does the job well with his pal, Michael Weikath.
My favourite songs that are 10/10:
Ride the sky - Here's where Kai sings better. This part has a beautiful
melody: " Set me free, ooooooh set me free; Send me a sign, wanna leave it all behind... Rearrange the masterplan,
take the future in my hands, to be free and not trapped anymoooore"
There's a pleasant harmony solo (The two guitars together at same note)
in the midway.
Gorgar - This piece is funny. The lyrics show the evils of getting addicted to
videogames and spending all money in arcades. Weikath plays a horror film
solo too.
The chorus makes me laugh : Gorgar will eat you , Gooorgaarr (the others singing in
back, to show that the pinball moster is frightening).
The monster states in the end: TILT!!
Warrior - What a strong sentence: "Your prayers won't be heard, so die!"
Kai sings it almost shouting, but it's good. The guitaring is fast.
Guardians - Another of the best melodies.
Phantoms of death - It describes the heartless and dangerous people in general
(The phantoms of death). My favourite guitar solos are here; when the beat
changes and in the bridge (Something like Te -leinleinleinleinleinleinleinleinleinlaloum)
My evaluation of the others:
Starlight- 7,5/10 ; Murderer- 9/10 , Cry for freedom- 9.5/10
Victim of fate - 8/10 ; Reptile - 6/10 ; Metal invaders - 8.5/10
Heavy metal is the law - 7/10 (metal can't be beaten by any dynasty, according to Kai)
; Judas- 8/10
How many tears? - 6/10
Don't afraid to buy it, its rock and roll won't be so bad as you may think.

Album Description
There are few bands than can write a two minute song that incorporates every element of metal/hardcore that we all love... but Walls Of Jericho do just that. Speed, crunch, anger, emotion, melodies, sing-a-longs, and spine-tingling aggression consolidate to form Detroit's most lethal breed of heavy hitters. Comparisons to Slayer and Strife are of merit, but these guys and gals do not fall victim to the confines of other cookie cutter bands. Adding elements such as youth crew parts and even acoustic parts to their savage onslaught makes them a light at the end of the tunnel amidst the sea of bands attempting similar styles. Walls Of Jericho cannot be categorized, they are unstoppable, and Candace's relentlessly heart stopping vocals will have you at her mercy.Customer Reviews:
Intense metalcore band........2004-10-24
Good in its genre but not what I prefer.......2004-08-28
Nevertheless I'd still prefer the likes of Otep or Queen Adreena but this is pure matter of taste. On this record,I genuinely enjoyed the 3rd track "changing times" and, pity, it's also the shortest one...But maybe I'll check out their sophomore effort though.
Intense Vocals & Intense Music.......2004-03-08
The music is also very good. There are a lot of fast songs with complex drum patterns and hard and loud guitars. Everything you could ever want in this kind of music. The songs, however, are pretty short. This album is less than 30 minutes long, and by the time it's over, you will be begging for more.
It's still a great album overall, though. It's still very worth purchasing.
