Great !!!! But it's not the best work that they can do.......2001-12-23

They're awesome talented musicians and have a good job on many tracks on this album very close to their first album and considerable better than the second (Planet Earth).
Mother's Army have a lot of incredible talent musicians including the man of the 8 tapping guitar style, the awesome guitarist Jeff Watson, and the legendary Drumers Carmine Appice (From the first and second album) and Aynsley Dunbar from this release. Fire On The Moon is really "ON FIRE" and it's a good adquicition but is not at the level of the first and selftitled production with Carmine on Drums, and so much Jeff Watson skills.

One Great Rocking Album.......2001-06-06

This album has some incredible talent that brought together makes some of the most exciting rock music I have ever heard. One correction to the title above, Aynsley Dunbar, the incredible and gifted drummer from Whitesnake, Journey, Zappa, Jefferson Starship and many other incredible bands rips it up on this CD. I don't know where they got Carmines name from. It is worth the price just for his mind-blowing talent which I have been a fan of for a long time. If you like good rock n' roll like that of Rainbow, Deep Purple, Ozzy, and Whitesnake, you will love this album. Cheers!

The best Christmas Bells yet!.......2001-06-09

I am so glad I have this wonderful CD of Christmas songs with bells. The bells are truly played as one instrument and you can really get into the Christmas spirit. It's so hard to record bells well, but they did it! I always tell my friends to BUY this CD to add to their Christmas music collection. In fact, I give the CDs away as gifts! A GREAT RECORDING!

A nice departure.......2001-06-08

While we all associate bells with Christmas, we think more of bells ringing wildly in their towers. And when we think of Christmas music, we think schmaltz. This album features a different kind of bells -- handbells -- and music that is anything but schmaltzy. As I listen to this beautiful, seamless music, I am in awe of the skills required to make it sound that way: a dozen people handling dozens of bells, sounding as one instrument. The musical selections are varied, the performance top-notch, and the experience of listening is marvelous. I do not hesitate to recommend this CD to any listener.

Sonos is very accomplished, yes, and they play what they do very well, but nothing really appealed to me as "exciting" bell music. I have nothing against classical music, but they need perhaps faster songs or something of that sort. Other than that, it was great!

A smooth, relaxing Christmas album.......2000-02-01

"Christmas with Sonos Handbell Ensemble" continues the tradition of excellent playing and fine engineering pioneered on Sonos' first disc. The repertoire runs the gamut, but leans toward the quiet, mellow carols and tunes, and the other instruments featured (flute & clarinet) are perfectly balanced and blended with the overall sound. The acoustic is marvelous, greatly benefitting from the superb room at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch and audiophile-quality production.

Of special interest is the bluesy/gospel "Christmas Tidings" (Mary Had a Baby Boy/Go Tell It On the Mountain) with clarinet, the lovely "Panis Angelicus" with flute, and a quirky arrangement of "Carol of the Bells," which does not do what you expect! There's the ever-popular nutcracker, along with the Leroy Anderson's hit "Sleigh Ride." A moody "Veni Emmanuel" is paired with a mediaeval-sounding "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen." There's even a little Prokofiev: the "Troika" (another kind of sleigh ride), from Lt. Kije.

This CD is great for parties and background music but can also be brought up and appreciated for its detail and finer qualities. A rare combination.

Like a lost treasure - too some .......2006-05-25

First let me say if you are a Comsat Angels fan and do not have this - get it! - you will be very happy to have another cd's worth of material by the guys. Like the other review here says there are problems with the mix ie: keyboards are way to loud at times and Steve Fellows wonderful guitar playing is buried in the mix alot. However Steve's vocals are great as always and the lyrics while maybe not up to say Sleep No More in their depth are still nice. For a reference point I would say this cd is better that 7 Day Weekend and sounds more like a real Comsat Angels recording than 7 Day does on the whole. Some standout tracks are Sleepwalking,She's Invisible and Transport of Delight. Bottom line if you have read negative things about this and thought it not worth buying - don't believe them.. Any longtime fan will find songs to like here.. In fact my wish would be that the band buy back the rights to this recording and remix the tracks - lower(or get rid of) the keyboard excesses, raise the guitar and in general clean up the production. Then they could truly release this as a lost treasure.

Comsat Angels big beat 80s rock album.......2004-01-09

And that pretty much describes it. The Comsat Angels changed their name and signed to Island Records (on recommendation of one Robert Palmer). If you're familiar with CS Angels, then you pretty much know what to expect. This is very similar to their later '80s output, only with a bigger sound. The rhythym section is stonking, big drum sound, bass is very much in the front. The keyboards are too loud, the guitar sometimes a tad bit low in the mix. The songs are mostly fair to good with a couple I would call excellent, the best of them powered along by the groovy, bass dominated rhythym. Nice and underrated.

This mostly family based group cannot really be defined as anything except good, in my opinion. Lovely harmonies, catchy tunes, and lyrics that take you back to another time and place are just a small part of why this cd and their others get played about ten times more than anything else we listen to.
