4 out of 5 stars An unfortunate CD release.......2006-07-24

While this 13-track original score is largely incomplete and (as many have commented) full of the more useless cues; stuff we could do without, there is a 34-track bootleg floating around. I don't know how to get a hold of it, but it's circulating through the internet, giving David Newman the true audio release he deserved for one of his best musical efforts.

1 out of 5 stars Pointless.......2005-10-06

Why have a soundtrack that has all of the songs people don't care about? Basically this cd has all the background music that you never notice and quite frankly don't care about. Most of you who want to buy this cd is the same reason why you would buy any other, because it has one or two (very rarely three) songs that you want to get. The song that you are probably looking for is when the three of them with the baby are walking to the peak (where they ride in the ice caves) togather. It's called "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Root. Hope that helps

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE ICE AGE!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-07-30

I LOVE THIS MOVIE WITH A PASSION!!!! THE SOUND TRACK IS 2 TIMES AS GOOD!!!! SID STEALS THE WHOLE MOVIE, ALSO THE DODOS!!!!!!!!!!I LOOOOOVE ICE AGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND YOU ALL SHOULD BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 out of 5 stars Thanks.......2004-04-30

I would like to thank everyone for listing the song Send me on my way. I was specifically looking for this song and did expect it to be on the CD. So thank you all for looking out for the other people interested.

1 out of 5 stars Song not on CD.......2004-04-26

To those of you interested in this CD in lieu of finding the "songs with lyrics" in the movie ICE AGE, got bad news for you. They are NOT here! I really do hate it when a soundtrack is put out for a movie and they don't include the best or features songs in the movie. Anyway, the song that pretty much everyone wants when Manny, Sid, Diego and the baby are together and walking towards Half Peak is called "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Root. It is on their latest album "When I Woke". Put Rusted Root in the Amazon search engine and you should find it. Hope this helps those looking for this song.

5 out of 5 stars This is the unmoved mover.......2003-07-24

So I'm standin' there chainsawin' up this big ole maple that come down in the recent storms, miserable work, even fer a robust old soul like me. And on the radio comes this song, ``Sick Jones,'' by this band, Tin Huey, the likes of which I've never heard. Dropped my pullsaw and ran straight out to the record store, where I hadda wait six weeks while they ordered it up from some warehouse somewheres. Anyhoo: Having read some now, I realize it's kinda a cliche to say Tin Huey is hard to compare to anything, but I'd say this is the greatest marriage of 1940s country yodel and Slovenian post-disco since founding member Harvey Gold's pre-Huey band the Teabaggers. (They used to do a "War Pigs"/"Deliverance" medley, if you can believe it.) Anyhoo: This is transcendant music and take it from me it'll stop your chainsawin' right now and I mean right now.

5 out of 5 stars someone help me, I can't stop playing this thing!.......2000-12-20

I found this little gem in a local thrift store, not knowing that these art-school lifers had managed to cobble together a follow up to the before-its-time "Contents Dislodged During Shipment", released before I was in high school!! I expected some thinly worn imitations of these Devo-bretherens' quirky, jazz-tinged pre-80's glory, and was in for a shock!

I tossed this in while I planned to do dishes or something, and soon found myself drawn into the room ("hey! This is a great record!!") reading the cover and wondering about these guys. Great vocal harmonies and layered tracks, fabulous interplay of instruments, and a panache of humor that doesn't obscure the musical integrity. The high quality and lack of a definitive categorizable sound makes this task difficult (just look at the range of adjectives in the other reviews!) but it stands as the perfect example of what it really is - a 'band' of guys who grew apart geographically, never really 'broke up', and worked/sat on these songs for as long as 20 years!! The 80's quirkiness is here "Otis Says No" and also a smooth 70's progressive/arty feel not unlike Todd Rundgren would be sounding had success escaped him. A dreamy quality pervades many of my favorite tracks, particularly "Reliable Sources" - the most accurate aural description of an extraterrestrial visit since Sonic Youth's "Disappearer". Evocative and seamless, "disinformation" plays like a fine film, sounding more modern (or even post-modern) than dated.

I've been adrift on this wonderful ride for a month now (I think I've played it 50 times) and don't know if I'll ever tire of it. Essential, if you love good quality, imaginative, and well-played music.

5 out of 5 stars 'Disinformationý is excellent.......1999-11-16

Just received and advanced copy of "disinformation" on Future Fossil from Scott Shepard at Time Traveller in Cuyahoga Falls..he's waiting for more copies...so what's the scoop with this..I know some of the tracks are the singles en such from the "Clone" daze...Are all the other tracks "recent" recordings? I've been waiting 15 years for something other than "I'm a Believer" to be released on CD...What's the status with "Contents Dislodged"? Will it ever be released on CD?

"Disinformation" is excellent...the thing that amazes me is that even today, 20 years later, the music fits perfectly into what is the 90's "alternative" (and I use the term somewhat lightly- alternative is to me..Garbage,Luna, Flaming Lips,ect)...the music doesn't at all sound "dated" but more "immediate" Great job in compiling this fellas...the sound quality of the mix is first rate. Just keep me informed

5 out of 5 stars I've been waiting for this disc........1999-11-10

I saw them at the Lilith Fair when they first came out and I really liked them. I'm glad their record is finally out. It's great.

5 out of 5 stars John Mondl is a GENIUS.......1999-11-09

For somebody to take beat-up, rusty old four-track and eight-track tapes and build an album like this is phenomenal. You can call this a Tin Huey album if you want, but that's like saying that Pet Sounds is a Beach Boy album. If Mondl is free, I have some old cassettes I'd like him to work on.

              Customer Reviews:

              5 out of 5 stars Forever....Fighting Back.......2007-06-19

First of all...this album is incredible and in my opinion the finest disk Paul Di'Anno has released to date.

The sound on this album is very clean and crunchy. Drums are thunderous and the vocals soar. A great production.

Battlezone were originally called "Strike" but later changed their name. The band believed, in the 80s, that nuclear war was imminent and this is reflected in the lyrics, written almost exclusively by guitarist John Hurley. They tell of wastelands, lost love and savages.

"In the darkness" is an amazing track. Starts off softly with some acoustic guitar then the drums and electrics kick in. Diannos vocals on this song are amazing.

"Land God Gave To Caine" almost fades in from the previous one. This track is about destruction of the earth, nature, wildlife. Ok you get the idea. This is another great track.

"Voice on the radio" starts off with some radio edits and then the guitars crash in and drummer Bob Falck wastes no time in beating the hell out of his kit. This is a great song for driving to...just watch your speedo.

An outake from the Fighting Back sessions called "Rising Star" is available for download or try and find the "Warchild" compilation. Thought it was worth mentioning here as its a great song. A bit slow but very atmospheric.

4 out of 5 stars "Welcome to the battlezone".......2005-02-18

Paul Di'Anno, as most metal fans know, was Iron Maiden's first vocalist who sang on their first two albums: their eponymous debut and the classic Killers. Fighting Back (first released in 1986) was the debut album of Di'Anno's post-Maiden band Paul Di'Anno's Battlezone. Fans of MTV's Headbanger's Ball in the 1980s may remember the video "I Don't Wanna Know" which received fairly decent play. Fighting Back does not offer that track but it is still very solid. It explodes with the hard hitting intro and does not let up! Some of the songs like "Running Blind," "(Forever) Fighting Back," and "Warchild" are very fast, but with crisp, clean guitar. "Running Blind," in fact, could easily be re-worked into a thrash track. My favorite track is "Too Much To Heart." It is very accessible and has that catchy British New Wave Heavy Metal sound. I find myself playing that song over and over. "Feel the Rock" is the only offering here that I do not care for as it is very cliched. "In the Darkness" and the incredible anthem "The Land God Gave to Caine" are standout tracks. They are more complex than the other more straight forward metal numbers. They have slower parts intermixed with the heavier sound. The latter is very similar to some of the material Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were putting out in the 1980s.

For fans of early Maiden, the classic sound of their first two albums does creep up from time to time on Fighting Back, in particular on the track "Welfare Warriors." I agree with the previous reviewer, the music on Fighting Back that is reminiscent of Di'Anno's former band sounds like a cleaner, more polished early Maiden. The one thing Di'Anno has that Bruce Dickinson does not is some soul in his voice that brings more depth to the overall sound. Fans of early Maiden definitely should consider checking out Paul Di'Anno's Battlezone. P.S. Nobbyxxx, if you wrote these tracks, you're awesome and BTW, your web address does not work.

4 out of 5 stars DI'ANNO IN HIS MAIDEN FORM !!!!.......1999-09-24

If you like old Iron Maiden, than you will love Fighting Back. Simple, hard and raw best describe this collection of songs. They have a cleaner, crisper sound than the old Maiden. I would have to recommed song #1 "Welcome to the battlezone" and song#10 "The land God gave to Caine". All Iron Maiden fans should enjoy!
