About the Artist
Losaka, Hippo, and Eibol, joined forces under the "Hand Held Aspects" moniker and began recording songs on a dusty 4-track tape recorder in the summer of 1998.
After a modest demo (No One's Listening) was released in 2000 and reviewed on popular underground hip hop websites, listeners started to take note. In the fall of 2001 Fingerprint Records was created and their first release Hand Held Aspects 12" single "Sing Sing" created a stir in local college radio stations and set the course for a full length album titled "From Point A to H" released in 2002. This was the turning-point for Losaka, finally realizing where to place his unrelenting focus. Soon after the release of that album, Losaka and Eibol began working on a concept album with fellow NY upstater Nobs. The collaborative effort aptly titled Neanderthal Youth proved to be a success, as it began to sell and spawned an exclusive 7" pressing of the lead single "Electric Uprock" by UK upstart label Filthy Habits in 2005. The single made incredible strides in the overseas market, making them a topic of conversation in all languages.
In 2004 Losaka finally put his all ideas into a solo album titled "Porqueria". Inadvertently becoming the toughest-to-digest music the label had ever released. This twenty-four track, 70 minute opus has been described as "surprisingly avant-garde, but still remaining traditional" by fellow beat maker and friend Joey Beats. The album has done exceptionally well in the U.S. and overseas markets, including Japan where Fingerprint Records artists share a loyal following. As time progresses, so do Losaka's musical ideas and styles. Going from the traditional, purely sample-based production of "Porqueria" to the live instrument sounds he's using on current projects. In 2005 Losaka recently re-located to Ann Arbor, Michigan. A small but art-infused city much like San Francisco, where he's currently working on another solo project due in early 2006.
Just like in life, Losaka doesn't't stay glued to the same surroundings for very long. By listening to his music you can note the changes, like the movements of a symphony, where the latter leads to the next, at times inexplicable yet rightfully so.
