Intelligent song writing with a good sound.......2007-05-19
If you are into everyday R&B then you will be into everyday song writing and you will give this cd a low star review. This album is outstanding, it is for grown people who liked R&B in the 90's and know all about songs like, because of you, I miss you and don't leave me and are fed up. So if that sounds like you, get out of the mould of everday R&B and get this cd NOW!!!!!!!
Dwele, get a ghostwriter or something.......2006-08-07
Okay, I know that most of the reviewers that listened to either of Dwele's albums rated them four or five stars. But I'm sorry; I just can't do the same. It's not that I can't get into his soulful Musiq -- I mean music, but I just don't think Some Kinda is as stellar an album as it could have been.
Now, I do like this album better than I liked Subject, and Dwele does still have a good voice, but I'm just not moved for the most part. For starters, he never seems to sing on beat, which makes a lot of the songs hard to follow, even with the lyrics right in front of me. And speaking of lyrics, that's the biggest downfall, as evidenced by "Flapjacks"; and the chorus to "Keep On" (the necessary song featuring Slum Village) is very uninspired. "Holla" also has a dry chorus.
If the title "I Think I Love U" isn't cheesy enough, what's worse is during the second verse when he says: "You're so beautiful, more than a man could ever want/Got me lookin' for Ashton to see if I'm bein' punk'd". And "A Pimp's Dream" never should have happened. In fact, the only songs that really stand out COMPLETELY are "Lay It Down", "Old Lovas" and possibly the title track. But even better than the latter is the spoken word prelude (but ALL the preludes aren't spectacular -- "Caught Up", anyone?).
Dwele is obviously talented, but if he wants to stop being so overlooked, then he needs to find himself some kinda better songwriting team.

No Sophmore Jinx Here.......2006-07-19
Dwele hit another homerun with this CD. The foundation of Dwele is still there, but he just funked it up a little. He is so refreshing. 5+++. Highly recommend.
The words were taken from my memories of an old lova.......2006-04-18
Dwele, Dwele, Dwele. He is definitely an underrated artist. His music took my mind on a relaxing journey. Don't get me started on "Weekend Love." The words were taken from my memories of an old lova. This is a must have. I came across Dwele by accident while looking for something different. Best mistake ever. After listen to Some Kinda, I went and brought Subject.
I have Dwele(itis) beleve me!!!.......2006-04-07
All I can say is music in my world was missing something until I found Dwele. I absolutely love his music, love his songwriting skills, and he definitely is on his own path musically and that's what makes him who he is. That is what makes him great IMO. Another person who wrote a review wanted to know what can you call his music: You can call it SOUL because that's exactly what it is. His music is who he is and it definitely comes from his soul. I can listen to his music from track to track and that is something I can say is definitely rare today. I hope that Mr Dwele G doesnt change because what he has is something special, unique, and truly is a gift.
If you don't know who Dwele is take the time to find out because he is definitely worth it!!!

Coulda been better........2003-11-24
This CD is great, but as with the other Teenage Head albums it doesn't do justice to their sound live. They are one of best sounding live bands I have ever heard, and they are STILL playing. This album definately has some great tracks on it, and I would recommend it though.
Some Kinda Fun.......2000-07-21
I totally agree that this band never got the recognition that they deserved. I grew up in Ontario, Canada so I was fortunate to see this band live several times. The music is timeless. I only wish that they were still recording. If "Teenage Beer Drinking Party" doesn't get you moving, nothing will!
A Legendary Band.......2000-07-05
If you grew up listening to punk/rock'n'roll in Toronto or Hamilton in the late70s/early 80s, you probably remember Teenage Head. This was a legendary band, from the amazing live shows, to the infamous Ontario Place riot of '81, in which 15,000 rowdy teenagers who couldn't get in to the sold-out show went berserk, and police from all over the greater Toronto area had to be called in to quell the violence. Aside from the history, this is simply a great punk/rock album. If you're a fan of bands like the Ramones or the Clash, or of proto-punk bands like Iggy & the Stooges or the MC5, you owe it to yourself to lend an ear to the Canadian version. Teenage Head's blend of punk rock and 50's-style rock'n'roll ranks among the best of the era (and the band probably would have become more well known if not for the untimely auto accident that put guitarist Gord Lewis out of commission). If you like this (their third) album, also be sure to check out their second album, Frantic City, for more of the same.
Teenage Head one of the forgotten best bands ever.......1999-10-19
This album is fantastic!! These guys never got the regognition they should have for sure! They opened for th Ramones years ago! I saw them recently and man...were the great, we danced all night!!!
Toronto's most famous bar band.......1999-08-25
Teenage Heads third and most polished album. Not as good as the first two.

Surprised.......2004-08-03
Wow, I figured that I would pick up a few b-sides and maybe get lucky and find a decent song to compliment Mojave 3's latest disc. Both these b-sides are great, makes me wonder why they aren't on any of their full length CD's. Highly recommended to everyone!

This album contains fourteen brand new songs and is available on CD and cassette. We continue to work on our studio situation and feel that we have come up with our best and most natural sound quality ever on this saucer. Not that we're biased.
The songs have never been recorded before, but we've been playing a number of them for a couple years now and they have already proven to be some of our most requested tunes. Others are brand new and have only been played a few times in public.
We are calling it Some Kinda Funny because though most of the songs are kinda funny, there are a few that are meant to be a bit more unfunny than the rest. As they say, it's a mixed bag. Here is a list of the songs, in the order in which they appear:
