This compilation album from the label Vampisoul is a classic, containing a mix of boogaloo, cha cha cha, and salsa dura.
As mentioned in the excellent liner notes, the title cut Boogaloo Blues was one of the trio of great boogaloo hits for that year 1966, that included Bang, Bang and I Like It Like That (by Joe Cuba and Pete Rodriguez, respectively). Boogaloo Blues is the least commercial sounding of the three that comprise that great year for music. This CD also includes the track Merecumbe, arguably one of the top 10 salsa songs ever created.

The overall sound of this album has a strong paired trombone section, just as distinctive and innovative as Eddie Palmieri's, La Perfecta. As a compilation album spanning the second half of the 60's, the CD also has a nice assortment of soneros, too!
