Picture This..........2005-07-22

You're lounging under a straw hut on white sand, with a cold tropical drink in one hand a very special person lying next to you, holding the other. A warm breeze blows softly and off in the distance the sun is setting into the horizon and the blue tropical water is shimmering like diamonds in the sky...and if that isn't enough...Gary Taylor's "Under the Nightlight" is playing in the background.

This is a page right out of the book of my life..and there is no way it would have been complete without Mr. Taylor; the Minister of Mellow! This CD (as well as all his others) will complete or compliment any evening, cuddling session, adult gathering or Quiet Storm.

I can never understand how folks have a favorite song by this gifted man. I for one can never pick apart his CDs song by song because they are a perfect complete project from beginning to end. I promise, you will enjoy this man's sexy, sultry, sizzling, tasty tenor! It just floors me that more people don't know about him. Here we are in 2005 and people still ask me, who is that singing...like he's a New Jack, or something. I always tell them, the man has got roots, he goes back to when I was in high school and that was more than a minute ago..lol!

If this is your first review on Mr. Taylor, do yourself a favor and dive in...buy all of his music, you won't be sorry and your collection will have increased by leaps and bounds, where quality music is concerned.

One of the best of 2001.......2002-03-08

Easily one of the best R&B records that came out in 2001, despite the fact that most people never heard it. The label that this record is on prides itself on music craftsmandship over commercialism, and the record shows it. It's probably the all-around smoothest rcord that came out that year, with dipping chords and severe consideration for how the record might be used (so, no crass lyrics).

Better than just about every other R&B record that came out that year, and a sad, sad shame more people didn't know.

Mr. Consistency's latest........2001-09-04

I'm amazed at how many completely new gorgeous songs this man puts on every record, all with something different to say about life and love, and all of them sound different from the last song. Every cd sounds fresh from the previous cd. Amazing. He apparently has much love to give! No wonder he is so talented at songwriting, arranging and producing music. I guess that is why. Because it's in ratio to how much love you have to give or feel a need to give. What a rich and soulful fountain of creativity this man has inside his heart.

ALL of his cd's are well-mixed and beautifully arranged. He keeps the costs down by always using synthesizers and drum machines but his colors are so rich and soft you won't notice or mind that approach at all TRUST ME ON THIS PLEASE. The WARM synth sounds and floating pads are awesome Gary! Keep 'em coming. And the discreet exotic percussion and use of romantic real acoustic guitar, nice touch my man! ;-) Remember folks this is an artist who has to do it ALL himself, and pay for it himself, he can't get major label support. But he has a DEEPLY devoted cult following he knows is out there waiting and we all buy every single disc that comes out by him. So he works hard on his synth sounds, lyrics and arrangements. And boy can he paint a visual picture! He will always have the support of fans like me. I have everything since Compassion (1985). And I wish I could find "GT". That's the oldest album he has, and that one he did back in the late 70's or early 80's.

I even have Vesta Williams' album because he wrote and produced the beautiful; "I'm Coming Back", I have Marlena Shaw's album because he wrote the soulful: "Without You in My Life." He has written for other Soul music artists as well. (The Whispers etc.) Every single album you get more than your money worth from this man. The sound samples are only a taste. It's even better to hear the whole songs so the impact of the lyrics can blow you away. Listen to his lyrics many times, because as usual, they are so deep and insightful you will see their truth more and more every time you hear them sung. I secretly love the fact he has to do it by himself. His music on Morning Crew (a totally independent label) is totally free of record company B.S. there is no one giving him bad advice and messing with his sound. THANK GOD.

Macnificent.......2001-07-17

As usual Gary knows what time it is. From his early beginnings up until now the man knows what true jazz and r&b enthusiast want to hear. I'm always anxious to hear when he has something new coming out and I won't hesitate to order on-line or rush to the nearest music store to pick up the latest. I have no doubt that Under the Nightlife will top the charts for this phenomenial singer and musician. Keep em' coming Mr. T.

I just love this man's music--his sound is just great. His words hit the heart -- I have all of his except the very first one with "tease me" on it--if anyone out there has it, I want it!!! You will not be disappointed with this--BUY IT! if you don't have any of the others buy them--you will love them also. His music is just perfect to end a stressful day. Turn off the lights turn on Gary Taylor!
