Customer Reviews:
Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.
Top Shelf.......2007-01-04
This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.
Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14
This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway
Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

Customer Reviews:
Very good show which I hadn't heard of..........2007-05-13
I was very into theatre in high school and college and thought I was up on most musicals, but had never heard of this show until recently. It's comprised of three short stories which were adapted into the musical format. The first two stories are tied together very well, although the last seems tacked on. But the songs are catchy and it's fairly easy to figure out what's happening simply by listening to the songs. There are two songs which are tied for my favoritism: "It's a Fish" from Adam and Eve and "You Are Not Real" from Passionella. Check it out.
THE APPLE TREE (1966 ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST).......2007-04-10
IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. I WENT TO THE REVIVAL OF THE APPLE TREE ON BROADWAY IN NEW YORK CITY AND LOVED THE SCORE BUT THERE WASN'T A SOUNDTRACK AVAILABLE SO I PURCHASED THE ORIGINAL VERSION AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
I still remember these songs after 40 years.......2006-11-05
I saw this show on the stage when it first ran, and have never forgotten it. The key to a good Broadway show is this question: Are you humming the songs when you leave the theatre? In the case of The Apple Tree, the answer is a resounding "Yes." I have been waiting 40 years for this show to be revived, and I have tickets for the revival opening in December at the Roundabout. I hope not to be disappointed, for the trio of Barbara Harris, a very young Alan Alda, and the late Larry Blyden were terrific. The three-part concept can be jarring because just when you're getting into the story, it ends -- but just enjoy the kind of songs they just don't write anymore.
Really 2.5.......2006-07-25
SO this is another show thats actually three one acts. The first "The Diary of Adam and Eve" is the best by far. It has really cute songs and nice plot. Thats the only reason I rounded this up from 2.5 to 3 stars. The rest of the show is nothing great. "Lady and Tiger" is short and boring. And "Passionella" is exactly what it sounds like, a knock off of Cinderella. But hey, its a good show for collectors and "The Diary of Adam and Eve" is nice. Favorite Song: "Its A Fish"
Boring material that you forget very easily.......2006-06-29
According to some reviews, this musical was supposed to be very good and I bought it. Unfortunately, I was quite dissapointed. It's composed of three different tales, the first one referring to the Adam & Eve biblical story. The lyrics here are very silly and tedious. The second tale, "The Lady or the Tiger?" contains songs that are simply awful, probably the worst ever written for a Broadway show. The third story, "Passionella", contains music that does nothing to make things better. The album contains a good informative booklet in English, German, French & Italian (as Sony uses to do)which says that Time magazine defined this show as "three moldy figs". I entirely agree. I would recommend this musical to those suffering from insomnia: it will put them to sleep right away.

Customer Reviews:
Great Cd.......2007-01-23
Here is a great collection of songs from a excellent hard rocking band.
This is a collection of their hits and alot more.
Starts off with Pictures of Matchstick men right up to the more modern version of Status Quo.
Those earlier tunes here were excellent, and they realy had a style and sound of their own.
You can hear the changes musicly they went through with this compillation of songs.
Finally...FINALLY!.......2000-07-18
The radio stations in the US only play "Pictures of Matchstick Men." That song had me curious enough years ago to read the article in my Harmony Illustrated Encyclopedia of Rock about Status Quo. There I saw that "Down Down" was a number 1 tune in England, and I had never, ever heard it! Couldn't convince the dj to play it, either. So, after years of wondering, I took a chance and bought this anthology with everything on it.
For those others who are curious, but have no clue, just like me before cracking this baby open: The album reminds me of Thorogood's greatest hits, and the J. Geils Anthology: Song after song of boogie and blues, all in the exact same style. Sound-wise, the album graduates from "classic rock" sounding to somewhat electronic and progressive. Add a mix of "poshness" and over-production to the later tunes, and you're there. Honestly, the common driving beat became a little incessant after 2/3 of the first CD. (There are a LOT of tunes here, 41 in all, keep in mind.) Non-stop. Love it. Hate it. But you can take a long trip, and play this collection as traveling music, and not get bored anywhere along the line. While at home, you'll be selective and play the top rated tunes. Aside from so much great traveling music, I feel like I've bought a giant slice of England's landscape. I hear all these top rated tunes that have escaped America's radio. I had to do it to "figure it out." Glad I did.
A Must for Staus Quo fans!.......2000-05-13
Two cd's and 41 tracks cover the career of enduring rock legends Status Quo.I't's interesting to hear their sound develop from the bubble-gum 1968 hit "Pictures of Matchstick Men".Presented in chronological order, classics like "Down Down","Caroline","Rocking All Over The World","Paper Plane",and "Whatever You Want" still sound great.Francis Rossi & Rick Parfitt and co. have sold over 120 million records and notched up 55 British hit singles to date,a record in UK chart history. Also included are their most recent hits thru 1996.A MUST for committed Quo fans, and a great choice for the casual fan as well.
This is an absolute peach.......1999-09-14
rossi at his best...all their best song
electricial music and bogie that's awesome!.......1998-07-27
I first heard Status Quo in 1973. Was immediately turned on by their sound. Having many many records and tapes of their music, I was delighted to finally find amazon.com & their music selection. I tried for over 20 years to get some of their music on cd but never could. This cd imcompuses all of those recordings I had & more. The songs I never heard before are just super. This cd has a powerful beat that doesn't quit. The guitar work is exceptional & the drummer never misses a beat.

Album Description
The American Yiddish musical theater, a vibrant expression of the immigrant experience, became famous during its heyday in the 1920s-1940s. Combining the musical flavors of Viennese operetta, Tin Pan Alley, and eastern European nostalgia, these songs and duets are quintessential American popular musicwith a Yiddish voice. Volume 1 spotlights the hit songs of Abe Ellstein, one of the genre's premier songwriters. New, historically accurate orchestrations re-create the unforgettable glory days of Yiddish radio and film, the uproarious vaudeville houses, and the thrill of a night at the theater on old New York's fabled "Second Avenue."
Customer Reviews:
Great collection, nice orchestrations.......2005-01-19
Great collection of yiddish musical theatre favorites. Unfortunately the singers were told to sing the songs in a supposedly "authentic" galician accent which in certain instances is completely incomprehensible to any yiddish speaker. The singers are quite good and the orchestrations are lush and well done.
A Great New Addition to the Milken Archive!.......2004-03-10
This CD is perfect for fans of Yiddish folk music and newcomers to the genre alike. It is a great introduction to some of the treasures of the Yiddish stage. Especially worth noting are the four tracks sung by Elizabeth Shammash, whose rich Mezzo-Soprano voice brings a great sensitivity and tone to her pieces.

I love Taylor Dayne, I saw this cd in the store and baught right away, that tracks are great, awsome dance mixes, they maybe from 1998, and now out of print, but hey this is when dance mixes were rockin'. ans these are great, thunderpuss does a nice job on the naked without you mixes, adn the bonus tracks are great. this is a collections everyone needs! buy it, you will LOVE IT!!!
Taylor has the greatest voice.......2005-06-09
This is a great collection that really showcases Taylor's great vocal ability. It's not about the big hair anymore, it's about the big voice, her new style and look and her loyal fan base. Tina Turner recorded Whatever You Want and it went #1 in Europe. Taylor wrote this song and recorded it for her 1998 cd "Naked Without You" and the dance mix kicks !!!

Album Description
This compilation is an introduction to the many styles and sounds of synthpop, nu-electro, and electronic pop music in general, with a focus on futuristic and sci-fi themes.
Since synthpop's birth in the late 70's and early 80's, it has often been thought of as "futuristic", using the electronic bleeps and pulses, then later computer programing and samplers, to create pop music that breaks the typical boundaries of rock-n-roll or other more mainstream genres.
This collection puts together songs that span from synthpop's lost underground of the mid 1990's to the recent explosion of new bands and great new songs that is fueling new interest in synthpop (even if it's called by different names, like "electroclash", "nu-electro", "tech-pop", etc.). Any fan of great catchy pop songs with a lot of creativity and personality will enjoy hearing this collection. If you're a fan of sci-fi, a computer geek, an anime fan, a late-night club addict, or whatever, you may find that this is a music genre that can appeal directly to your tastes.
Customer Reviews:
Not Really what I expected.......2007-04-05
In my opinion, this album is more dance than new wave, and is not
really what I expected from the description.
I enjoy songs where a catchy beat, and creative synth work enhance
good vocals and meaningful lyrics.
The tracks on this cd are exactly the opposite. In most cases an overabundance of great synth work is being wasted on lame lyrics and average vocals.
If you are interested in hearing a demo of every possible sound that
you can get out of a synthesizer, and are more into night club dance music, then you might really enjoy this collection.
music to sleep by.......2006-06-13
if slumber is what you crave, then grab this album with your shakingly sleep deprived mitts and take a much needed trip to the domain of morpheus. it works so well that i almost passed out driving on the NJTP in the middle of the afternoon.
i found it stale an unimaginative.
i really love the synthpop sound from depechemode to kraftwerk. after hearing this collection, i thought that maybe the sound was dead and that i was just trying to relive an age past.
then i discovered FREEZEPOP and BIS. buy those and know that synthpop lives on with as much or more life than ever.
NEW BLOOD OF ELECTRO : KEEP IT UP!!.......2005-08-31
NEW BORN OF ELECTRO GROUP LIKE FATHER KRAFTWER,DEPECHE MODE,ERASURE AND LIAISONS DANGEREUSES,CAMOUFLAGE..DEVISION..FRONT 242..INFORMATION SOCIETY..DFA..C.C.C.P>>>>>>>UNITED STATE OF EUROPE..
ANYTHING BOX..
SPACE AGE ELECTRO POP.......2003-04-27
Another winner of a compilation from Todd at A Different Drum. I have never failed to find new music to get into with one of ADD's compilation and this one is no exception.
All tracks are keepers but I am most partial to the Neuropa, B! Machine, Moulin Noir and Blue October tracks. Good for dancing, driving, hanging out or riding on the train.
Buy it and it will enhance your life.
