After Finally, Teddy Riley's third album with Blackstreet, failed to click with the group's once-vast audience, the modern-soul mastermind found the time right to hook up again with Aaron and Damien Hall. Together in the early '90s, the trio gave Riley his first taste of stardom following his inspired combination of R&B and hip-hop in the hybrid sound of new jack swing. Unfortunately, III isn't always the surefooted comeback fans hoped for. While uptempo tracks such as "Dancin'" successfully combine layered harmonies and smooth, up-to-date beats, the disc's many ballads find the act floundering. Indeed, the worst of them recall Aaron Hall's smarmy solo work. But then, Riley himself has always seemed more at home stoking dance-floor fires than kindling the flames of romance. --Rickey Wright

Ultimate Wedding Album.......2007-06-01
The perfect album for anyone planning a wedding. Both traditional and contemporary wedding favorites. Sound quality is excellent.
The Best!.......2007-05-24
Send this to every future bride and groom - yes. But even better, send a copy to the PARENT(S) of the future bride and groom!!! It gets everyone in the mood and filled with excitement! Also, it allows them to hear some choices other than "Here Comes the Bride." This CD can also be a lasting pre-wedding shower gift.
A beautiful CD - wedding or not.......2007-01-11
Whether you're getting married, attending a wedding or just want some sweet music to listen to - this album is it. A terrific collection of some of the most beautiful music ever written.
The best of my Wedding CD's.......2007-01-10
I purchased quite a few Wedding CD's but for me, this Album has the most elegant and classic pieces. Ultra modern, trendy girls...don't you dare go here. Classic, beautiful, refined women...this is your CD.

When they say Ultimate, they mean it!.......2006-03-14
This album really is great. As of writing the review I haven't gotten married yet, but I am definetly using it in my June wedding. It has all of the classics that we always associate with weddings and only weddings ("Bridal Chorus" for the bridal processional, "Wedding March" for a recessional, etc.) PLUS plenty of other music for the wedding party processional, unity candle lighting, prelude music, etc. I purchased another CD, but only because that music was used in EVERY ceremony at my high school and it has sentimental value to me. I didn't need to, as the album cover even sorts the tracks by Prelude, Processional, Ceremony, and Recessional.
The songs are so peaceful, well performed, and just plain pretty. Those with organ truly remind me of being in church as a child. I plan to keep the CD in my IPod and listen to it when I need some "chill out" time. Those which are not AS specific to weddings ("Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," "Air on the G String," etc.) sort of make you feel like you're in a classy coffee shop or in a bakery in an Italian villa.
Overall, a very well-rounded album. You could get by with this CD alone for all of your ceremony music and save hundreds of dollars on hiring an organist and soloist. With a decent sound system at your ceremony site, guests who didn't know any better would wonder where the orchestra is.

Customer Reviews:
A mixed bag of romantic offerings.......2001-12-17
BMG's Lanza collections are usually a mixed bag, and this album of love songs is no exception. Interspersed with some magnificent performances are an assortment of the good, the bad, and the mediocre. Part of the problem, I suspect, is that BMG simply doesn't appreciate what treasures it has buried in its recording vaults. It's enough to bring back Lanza from the grave, swearing in High C (as Time Magazine once tut-tutted) at the injustice of it all.
Lanza, in fairness to BMG, was an inconsistent performer. In the earlier part of his brief career, he had a tendency to sing sharp, and at times his approach to various arias and songs lacked sensitivity. That's not to say he couldn't get it right. At his best he was extraordinary, combining one of the most powerful voices on record with just the right degree of melting mezza voce and a dazzling array of vocal colours. His sense of phrasing was, as Enrico Caruso Jr noted, "instinctively right", and his ability to get into the heart of a song was unquestionable. Even at his roughest, his singing was usually compelling, and one could never label any of his performances "boring".
The bad recordings generally fall into three periods of his life: the Coca-Cola Radio shows of 1951-52, the disastrous Lanza on Broadway album of 1956, and the illness-affected stereo remakes of his Christmas Carols and Student Prince albums, both recorded in 1959, the year of his death. The present CD includes material from the first two periods.
The "Coke" shows, as I've opined in a number of other reviews, produced some amazing performances of both arias and love songs. Unfortunately, however, lack of rehearsal time coupled with poor arrangements often led to the kind of wild, unrestrained singing that Lanza's detractors love to attack (while at the same time overlooking his great performances). On this CD, a number of Coke recordings were released for the first time: Danny Boy; My Wild Irish Rose; Neapolitan Love Song; and Torna a Surriento. The first two are lovely, notwithstanding a poor ending on Danny Boy and some uncertain moments in the tenor's lower register in this song. Victor Herbert's Neapolitan Song contains some piercingly sharp singing, a rough ending and some agreeable mezza voce. Torna a Surriento is too fast, too unpolished and not a patch on the piano accompaniment-only version that Lanza recorded three years later for the movie Serenade.
Among the other Coke selections is the sublime Memories, and the alternately touching and thrilling I'll Be Seeing You, with a B Flat climax that will knock your socks off. Wanting You is rough and exciting in equal measure - ditto the powerhouse Ah Sweet Mystery of Life with its ridiculously fast tempo.
Two songs from the ill-fated Lanza on Broadway album have been inexplicably included, though it must be said that at least these represent the better moments from this dreadful session. You'll Never Walk Alone contains more sharp singing, uneven rhythm and a certain bleariness, while the Borodin-adapted And This Is My Beloved is alternately belted and seductive. Incidentally, Lanza recorded a superior version of You'll Never Walk Alone for his Coke Shows; this is featured on the CD of the same name.
The real highlights for me are the immortal Serenade from The Student Prince; a thrilling Only a Rose (recorded three months after the Lanza on Broadway session and featuring a completely different voice); the aforementioned My Wild Irish Rose & I'll Be Seeing You and a mature rendition of Schubert's Ave Maria. Fans will also enjoy Arrivederci, Roma, and the ubiquitous Be My Love.
All in all an enjoyable hour, but if only more thought had been put into some of the selections...
The best tenor ever.......2001-03-01
Mario Lanza is indeed my favourite of all tenors either living or not. I must have almost everything he ever recorded. This album has a whopping 24 tracks including 5 previously unreleased recordings, which make this a must for any true fan of Lanza. This album has some of his most romantic songs, mostly from stage and film. You won't find any opera here, which is fine, there's plenty of his other albums that have that. These are songs that are guaranteed to stir your heart and soul while Mario's voice will melt them. This is a must-have and at this price there's no reason not to have it.
The greatest singer of all time!.......2000-06-29
This is one of the greatest compilations of Tenor Mario Lanza, The Voice of the Century, ever made. Mario Lanza had such a broad, well focused voice and he is represented to good measure here on songs like "Wanting You", "Neapolitan Love Song", and "Without a Song". On these selections one hears how the Lanza voice had a largeness, depth, and warmth from the bottom all the way to the very top. One will never hear songs like "O Danny Boy", "My Wild Irish Rose", "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Torna Surriento", "O Solo Mio", and "Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life" sung any better or with more feeling. My favorite on this CD, "And this is my Beloved" from Kismet displays the full Lanza Range. This, in my opinion, is one of the greatest single recordings ever made. Here Mario sings the most melting pianissimo and builds to an exciting, full bodied, heart stopping fortissimo High B flat. What passion! The particular recording of "Only a Rose" on this album has been regrettably absent from the catalogs for quite some time. It is a shame too, because Lanza makes this Vagabond King selection sound free and effortless like only Mario Lanza could. Lanza takes the listener through a guided tour, so speak, of truly the greatest singing the world has ever heard. After hearing the final selection, "You'll Never Walk Alone", there won't be a dry eye in the house. This, along with the "Don't Forget Me" Lanza CD, is one of the greatest single CD collections ever put together of Mario, or anyone else for that matter. Lanza was the greatest singer of all time and this is a must have album. The sooner you own this one, the better.

Worth the wait it's shame it didn't sell.......2007-01-05
Due to ego's, Guy waited ten years to release their thrid disc Guy III. The CD was a massive flop but it still featured some quality material. The first single Dancin was a mid-tempo number that showed of Aaron's vocals and Teddy's production skills while Teddy's Jam III was a instrumental jam easily on par with the first two parts. Of course my man Aaron Hall kils the slow jams in particular Rescue Me, Love On-Line, and Why U Wanna Keep Me From My Baby.Guy was always more than just an above-average soul group and with the right promotion, production and ego's being set aside I could eaisly see the group making a come back.
Not as bad as people said, Guy Fan Worth To Get [3.5 Star].......2006-05-23
I'm a fan of New Jack Swing also Teddy Riley,
I follow him from Guy to Blackstreet,
From Bobby Brown, Hi Five To MJ Dangerous album,
I got all GUY albums,
this one Guy III is the last one I collect,
the reason is because people keep sayin' this album is bad and dated,
and the other reason is I cant find this one in any local store!
well, finally my chance come,
I found it in special price bin for 2.5usd,
I got it no doubt!
AND let me tell you that this album ain't that bad!
The most suprise thing for me is Teddy still got it from here!
His beats in Blackstreet "Level II" is SUCKS terrible,
but in this GUY album, those beats are decent! Thanks God!
But one thing hurt me a lil' bit is,
Aaron Hall, their lead vocalist,
Is NOT as powerful as before,
I still can't forget when I heard he singin'
Piece of My Love, Let's Chill, Yearning For Your Love.......
He's always be one of the best RnB singer for me,
and in this album,
I think he's about lose 40 percent of his power,
I aint sayin' he's wack now, he still cool,
but not as heavenly as before!
The songs/beats are more lean on RnB now,
Those fast tempo NJS style seems lost,
I miss those stuff so much but I understand why they slow the music down!
And so now the GUY sounds a little bit like Blackstreet.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Intro - Just a Intro
The Best - The Beat is Great!
Got a sample from Wu Tang debut "Shame On A Ni__a",
A fast tempo one,
The worst thing about this song is actually the song is 2 mins
the last min of the song is a voice keep sayin' some best musician names,
which is very meaningless and skip-able!
add a bridge and 1 mo' chorus for this song I'll give it 5! 4/5
We're Comin' - Those noise in this beat is quite agony,
and the beat seems try to be funky but just not enough! 2.5/5
Dancin' - The First Single outta this album,
One of the best song no doubt!
Great Chorus, Great Beat! Good Job Teddy!!! 5/5
Rescue Me - Slow Jam, remind me their old song,
Tease Me Tonite,
The chorus need few listen to get into,
after get into it, it seems keep growin'
Quite A Good Slow Jam! 4.5/5
Teddy's Jam III - I and II are absolutely Classic,
this one is alright too!
but the song keep repeat "shake shake it baby"
they should cut it shorter ..... 3.5/5
Do It - boring, quite a filler. 2/5
Why You Wanna Keep Me From My Baby - Another slow jam,
very personally one,
Aaron talk about his ex-wife don't let him see his own child,
Aaron lyrics is deep sad and keep askin' why! 4/5
Tellin' Me No - The Beat and Those chorus remind me a song from Dru Hill,
No GUY ain't biter,
That Dru song release few years later after this album made!
Anyway, A Nice One! 4.5/5
Not A Day - One of my favorite,
A light beat, keep repeat some beautiful melody,
Very Mellow and Harmonic, Very Great!!! 5/5
Love Online - Talk about cyber love fo' sho'!
Another Great Slow Jam, but very into Blackstreet style! 5/5
Spend Time - Finally another Fast Song,
Bangin' beat by Teddy! I love this one! 5/5
Don't U Miss Me - A Spainish beat, the beat is hot,
but the chorus ain't catchy enough! 3.5/5
2004 - 1:55, more like a interlude, very skip-able! 2/5
Fly Away - Nothin' special, not bad but not good! 3/5
Someday - This album end with this slow song,
a spoken words intro and one verse only,
then keep repeating "Someday We'll All Be Free" till the end!
More like a outro than a song but I enjoy it! 4/5
----------------------------------------------------------
I don't Expect this album will as good as those two old GUY,
I know it's impossible,
I just want a decent album for my to listen to,
and Guy did a good job,
Guy or Teddy Fans, Go Get It Now!
Not their best.......2005-12-27
Guy's third album in 2000 was okay. I remembered to get it the day it came out in January 2000. But I came out a little disappointed with about 30% of it. Most of the album sounds like leftover studio material from the 1988 and 1990 sessions of their last two albums. Dancin' is the only one to sound more current. About 4 sound like they came from 1988, 4 sound like they came from 1990 and the rest are just ordinary songs. When the Dancin' single came out in October of 1999, I asked, why didn't they put the album out right away? But someone should have told Aaron Hall, Teddy Riley and Damion Hall that the music scene had changed in 10 years. Those loyal fans moved on to other music acts and genres. They could have found some new songs to fit with the music trends. But Teddy was comfortable with his signature sound, and there are several solid performances from this album. Maybe he wanted to expose his New Jack Swing sound to today's audiences with this album. One song has Aaron pleading to his ex-girlfriend to come back to him and Aaron still sounded great. But five years later, not a lot of these songs stick to your head. Guy reminds me of Bobby Brown, sticking with their own musical style, but not wanting to branch out further.

A Great Songwriter!.......2007-05-21
This compilation covers Wainwright's 3 albums released for the Rounder label during 1982-86.
Wainwright is a very gifted songwriter whose intelligent lyrics rarely feels unimportant. His songs usually show engagement and honesty - and very often there's a great sense of sarcasm and humour in his lyrics.
Some of his live-favourites come from this period, and I recently had the pleasure of seeing him perform live at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Fine songs like "One Man Guy" and "IDTTYWLM" were in his highly entertaining performance.
Other songs from this collection that stand out are the two heartfelt songs written for his children, "Your Mother and " and "Five Years Old".
The opening track "Hard Day on the Planet", the acoustic country-ballad "Westchester County" and his John Lennon tribute are other favourites.
Fine sleeve notes; recommended!
Not Loudon's best.......2005-12-08
I'm a relative newcomer to LWIII and have been trying to work my way through his arsenal of music for some time now. Started out well when I purchased "History," a classic. Followed up with this one and was slightly disappointed. Then went on to get "Last Man on Earth" which is one of the most haunting, entertaining albums I think I've ever bought. I'm back on track and continuing to sift through the catalogue.
I think this one faulters, though not because of the artist. The selection of songs from this period doesn't reflect the artist. Some great songs on here, no doubt. Perhaps it's because his albums deserve to be taken in their own context. I think this may be the reason he's stayed away from a big compilation.
It wouldn't be a mistake to buy this one. It would be a better idea to buy each album that makes up this "best of" collection.
Loudon clear.......2005-02-07
LWIII has released so much material over the years, it's easy to pick a "best of" release apart & trash it for not having this or that on it, but there's plenty of jewels on this disc. Besides, this disc focuses on his 4 years, and 3 albums with the Rounder label only. Some consider this period the peak in his career and, some, like myself consider his last 10 years his peak, but you can't deny that they've taken the very best of these 3 disc's to make up the 70-plus minutes of Loudon's take on "love relationships" phase. Man, this guy's a piece of work. After listening to this you realize that they just don't make "Singer Songwriters" like him anymore. I hope he lives to be a hundred.
best to avoid unless you prefer his silly side..........2004-10-03
if you prefer Loudon's comical/not so musical side you might enjoy this CD; however, if you prefer a mix of serious and lighter songs as i do, you are much better off buying Attempted Mustache, History or Last Man on Earth, all of which i think are really much better. to be honest, i thought most of the songs on this CD were pretty poor, and did not seem to reflect much effort or significant emotion. Sorry.

An awesome display of vocal fireworks.......2004-05-21
If it's a tenor voice you want to hear look no further. Franco Corelli is undisputedly one of (if not the) greatest tenors of the 20th century. His voice is capable of unbelievable power and exquisite pianissimo's. The broad range of religious arias, Italian songs and arias is enough to keep anyone's attention and have them panting for more. I recommend this wholeheartedly. Enjoy...
A Great singer, BUT..........2002-11-05
First of all: in my opinion I think it would be hard to find any other tenor with more thrilling sound than Franco Corellis.
But what goes wrong when it comes to his studiorecordings? It sounds too often that he wants to surpass oneself, like he wants to give us even more broadly tones all the way up( of cource his high c in "Granada" is good and the ending of "sole mio" is unbelievable) and it only will go at the expense of his overtones, because he uses too much muscles and is too heavy. The result of it: you get tired listening to him. And for Heavens sake: Whats the use for him to sound more manful?!!!!
Of course some songs here are good, but maybe only 10 out of 44, and thats not good enough for such a GREAT singer.
At last, why does he sing "off the voice" in Bach/Gounods Ave Maria? It`s so unnecessary, beacause he really had breath enough!
In my conclusion I will not recommend this recording, Because it`s such a disappointment.
Review..........2002-01-18
I own this C.D. and I have listened to it many, many times. Allthough I understand the feelings of the reviewer saying the songs are sang by the same fiery tone, I don't understand them fully. I would come to this conclusion if I would have listened to this the songs on a (too) soft volume.
If you really listen to it, not as backround music , but so you can hear it well and you aren't doing anything else, you will notice with how much passion a lot of the songs are sang by Corelli. Core 'ngrato is filled with passion, and I think Corelli is unsurpassed with that song. He didn't have lack of musicality either... Perhaps some more lessons would have done him good, but almost everyone could use some more. I even say that listening to some of Corelli's recordings is like having a singing lesson.
I would really recommend this C.D. if you are interested in his voice. the Core 'ngrato, Ave Maria and O sole Mio are great for instance. If you want to try full opera recordings try Il trovatore, Norma or Andrea Chenier
Unequalled Neopolitan Songs.......2001-05-16
Franco Corelli, who sang from 1951 to 1975, was the greatest tenore di forza of the postwar era. A powerful and exciting singer, never a subtle, elegant, or refined one, he had his detractors (who called him crude, vulgar, self-indulgent, and who lambasted his execrable French), but there can be no argument about the quality of his voice, a big, vibrant tenor with a thrilling timbre (often described as rich, dark, or baritonal) and a brilliant, secure top that must have been the envy and despair of other tenors. A nervous performer repeatedly subject to pre-performance jitters and anxiety attacks (a wag once said of him that Corelli could always think of more reasons not to sing than to sing), once onstage he was a generous singer who gave fully of himself and, like Caruso, poured out his magnificent voice unstintingly, never holding back.
The voice itself was one of the glories of the generously-endowed operatic scene of the Fifties and Sixties, and one of greatest tenor voices of the century. Herbert von Karajan said of Corelli, "A voice of heroic power, yet with great beauty of tone; darkly sensuous, mysteriously melancholic . . . but above all, a voice of thunder and lightning, fire and blood." Harold C. Schonberg, senior music of the New York Times, reviewing Corelli's Metropolitan debut in 1961, noted that his voice "has something of an exciting animal drive about it, and when Mr. Corelli lets loose, he can dominate an ensemble," and later described his voice as "a force of nature, an act of God, the vocal equivalent of an earthquake, volcano or hurricane." The distinguished musicologist Paul Henry Lang writing in the New York Herald-Tribune called Corelli "a latter-day Caruso." Alan Rich of the New York Herald-Tribune wrote of him, "There is no tenor in modern times, Italian or otherwise, whose voice rings out with greater vibrancy, whose every tone carries with it emotion at white heat. The sounds he makes, seemingly without effort, are dazzlingly bright, urgent, and communicative." Since Corelli's retirement we haven't heard anything remotely like him, and those of us who know his voice (and Bjorling's) can perhaps be pardoned for finding the "three tenors" so popular today somewhat anemic in comparison.
I have been an admirer of Corelli, a collector of his recordings, and a follower of his career since the late 1950s (when he had not yet sung in America, and his only recordings were Italian Cetra imports). I have just about everything he recorded. There is no tenor voice before the public today equal to this one, and I urge you not to miss it.
But the two-CD set under review here is not the place to start. If you are new to Corelli, I recommend the EMI single CD "Heroes" or the EMI two-CD set "Franco Corelli," with their heavy doses of his typical operatic fare, as ideal introductions to this rewarding singer. Corelli was above all a creature of the opera house, in his element singing Puccini, Verdi, and verismo Italian opera. The set under review here, misleadingly entitled "Songs and Arias," contains in fact only one aria, a very atypical one: Handel's "Ombra mai fu" from "Serse" (made famous by a Caruso recording). Indeed, some of the composers represented here-Handel, Schubert, Bach, Mozart, Rossini-are in fact stylistically very far from the kind of singing one associates with Corelli. A couple of the songs, "Because" and Grieg's "I Love Thee," are mildly comical in Corelli's overpoweringly Italianate and operatic renditions. But this is a set well worth owning for anyone who knows and likes Corelli. There is a first-rate Ingemisco from the Verdi Requiem, the traditional religious songs are all sung with seriousness and devotion, and most important, the bulk of the set comprises Neopolitan songs, which Corelli sings superbly. (I think he sings them better than anyone.) Of these my own favorite is "Core n'grato," a powerful song, and Corelli's recording of it is unequalled: there is a prodigious outpouring of bronzen tone here that must be heard to be believed. It's true that some of the orchestral arrangements are corny and dated, but with gloriously gutsy, full-blooded singing like this, from one of the greatest tenor voices of the century in its prime (all the recordings here are from 1961 to 1965), I can overlook the arrangements. These two CDs are very generously filled (22 songs,77 minutes for one and 23 songs, 78 minutes for the other), and include, I believe, everything Corelli recorded for EMI that wasn't opera.
If you like Corelli, if you like Neopolitan songs, you'll want this. But it's not the place to start in appreciating Franco Corelli.
Not a Corelli fan and even less now after hearing these CDs........2001-01-17
Corelli's voice was quite large, but I'm not very sure about it's beauty. He is much better in operas, but on these discs,I find his singing annoying. To the reviewer who wrote the Major Disappointment review and included Di Stefano in those not having a beautiful voice,I'd have to say that you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

A Great Collection of Songs That Made Her a Star:.......2000-06-18
It was her first several motion pictures that resulted in Deanna Durbin's becoming the highest paid female star of her time; and it is from those movies that this anthology has been taken. The selections are a good mixture of everything from operatic arias to popular tunes of the day. The original recordings are over sixty years old; but modern engineering techniques have enhanced them to "better than new" sound. If you, like so many others, are rediscovering this remarkable young artist, this album will provide a great deal of pleasure...for the music, and as an excellent example of nostalgic memorabilia.

Another fine addition to the series.......2001-02-13
After a bit of a slip with the second, this series was back on track with this third CD of songs cut from well-known musicals. As I mentioned in a previous review, just about any successful musical has had songs cut from it, not always because the song wasn't good, but because it no longer fit the show as updated, or a character or scene was cut (the booklet explains why each song was removed from its show). Once again, the songs are all good and the performances are wonderful. My favorites are "Mama's Talking Soft" (cut from Gypsy), "Big Fat Heart" (Seesaw), "Your Own College Band" (Where's Charley?), "When I Go Out Walkin' with my Baby" (Oklahoma!), and "Pick Up the Pieces" (also Seesaw). Bruce Kimmel was smart in using show singers instead of pop singers. I recommend the entire series. This CD features some fine songs that deserve renewed appreciation.

Customer Reviews:
thoroughly enjoyable.......1999-08-12
The melodic hramonies and at times humorous themes to these songs are catchy and enjoyable; they may be unsung but once heard they will not be forgotten.....it makes you wonder why didn't this show make it and yet Cats has been around forever?
quirky....and worth it.......1999-03-07
this one will leave you humming strange dittys and will allow you to entertain even the most die hard broadway musical buffs with things they have never heard

Should be 10 stars.......2007-02-08
What is there to be said that the reviewers below have not already. As a trombonist, this is one of a handful of recordings that brings me to my knees. Fabulous playing, fabulous tone, fabulous intonation - Joe Alessi is world class. This is my favorite of his CD's, and I own them all. Trombone players: This is an essential recording.
Joseph Alessi.......2006-07-02
This record is mislabeled: it is really music played by Joseph Alessi, the principal trombonist of the New York Philharmonic. You should fix that. Joe Alessi's playing is a whole level above that of any other trombonist playing now or in the past. He is the first player of his instrument to deserve to be referred to as a major artist.
The Ideal Trombone Sound.......1999-09-13
Young trombonists everywhere - in my opinion, this is how a trombone should sound. Mr. Alessi has the perfect sound, the sound that every serious trombonist aims for. Though the C.D. doesn't boast a variety of music (it's predominantly 20th century American), it is all fantastic music, the best of its kind. The last track is amazing, five of the greatest trombonists around, all playing together, it's outstanding. Serious trombone students, this is a good addition to your C.D. collection. This is the sound to aim for.
