Classic Disco Dance Music.......2007-06-19
Although I bought this CD for "I Can't Wait," the other tracks possess that pure, upbeat disco sound that almost make me long for the '80s.
Good debut, awesome power singles! .......2007-06-11
Nu Shooz broke out with "I Can't Wait", but I have always favored the follow-up single but not as big hit "Point of No Return". There a few other memorable songs like "I Lost Your Number" and "Don't Let me be the One", and it is glossy pop with a little funk tossed in, but I think the fact Jeff Lorber was a Producer and added his own keyboard and synth touches is what makes this cd very good and worth a listen.

Nu Shooz a little scuffed.......2006-01-19
I've had this disc for... good god... almost 20 years! Every once in awhile I have this urge to hear it and when I do, I play it for days.
This is a good, not great disc, thanks to their monster hit "I Can't Wait", and its even better follow-up "Point of No Return". The rest of the songs are pleasantly forgettable. Some of the lyrics are downright cringe inducing ("Put a dollar in your cup/when I saw that you were blind"?!? Hey, thanks for the help, Val...) and Valerie Day's nasal vocals can get on one's nerves, though.
Sometimes I swear this is a concept album about communication as the telephone gets mentioned in almost every single song...
"I Cant Wait".......2005-11-04
Contrary to the misinformed statements in some Amazon reviews, "I Cant Wait" was the "major hit" from this album. The track was a smash in more than 20 countries and allowed Nu Shooz to tour the UK, Europe and Australia. While "Dont Let Me Be The One" was also released as a single, it didnt fare so well - leading many to consider Nu Shooz as "one hit wonders".
I Cant Wait continues to be licensed to compilation after compilation - still earning the outfit royalties many years after the original release.

Tamia's sophomore effort begins with the singer's crisp, angelic voice a cappella, wrapped around a mournful interlude about a relationship gone awry. It's a gorgeous intro, and put there perhaps to remind listeners that the 24-year-old vocalist from Windsor, Canada, can sing like nobody's business when given the opportunity. Unfortunately, most of the tracks on A Nu Day deny Tamia the chance, with ho-hum, practically rote R&B fare produced, surprisingly, by some of the best in the biz. When Missy Elliott brings her production skills to the table on the album's first single, "Can't Go for That" (Elliott also produces four other cuts), it's as if the tune is running on automatic, with all of Elliott's stop-start, jerk-heavy rhythms running listlessly beneath a sample of the Hall and Oates song of the same name. "Tell Me Who," a collaboration with producer Shep Crawford, fares better, managing to capture a sassy, straight-up feel reminiscent of early En Vogue. The album offers a pleasant surprise, however, with a cover of the 1983 DeBarge tune, "Love Me in a Special Way," on which Tamia works wonders, her sonorous mezzo soprano digging soulfully into the soaring melody. --Sylvia W. Chan

One of my old favorites........2007-06-27
I got this cd when I was in High school. I was in love with it. Still am actually. I can't understand why anyone would have given her below 3 stars on this LP. The CD is tight. Best song Dr. John.
Another CD that goes good with this was Deborah Cox, "One Wish."
Tamia's best album..........2007-04-11
...even though her new album "Between Friends" comes as a close second (one of best R&B releases this year). "A Nu Day" has her biggest hit "Stranger in My House", but it has many more quality tracks. Her cover of "Love me in a Special Way" is beautiful because of Tamia's delivery with the lyrics. "Dear John" actually was a good opening track, it's a song full of drama (also check "Tell Me Who") and you almost get caught up in it (like R. Kelly's Mr. Biggs song series). "Long Distance Love" has a real catchy chorus, and while it does sound like it came from a commercial, the outstanding production (I think Missy E. did it) makes it standout to me. "Can't No Man" is sexy sounding track, with its calling lyrics and pretty production. This whole album I thought was really listenable. I didn't feel an urge to fast forward over tracks, unlike I did with her third album "More"(which had good tracks like "Officially Missing You" and "Questions"). I really recommend this overlooked album. Also check out her new album and her debut.
MY FAV OF TAMIA'S WORK!!!!!.......2007-01-10
This is hands down to me her best work..... it flows, you groove, the music just moves you from inside out.
4.5 stars.......2006-11-25
I brought this one out of the vaults the other day and it is as tight as I remembered it to be. A Nu Day, in my opinion, is Tamia at her best.
Nu Day it is!.......2006-01-14
Tamia, grew up on this album, gone are the sugary sweet (good but to nice) lyrics of her first album. She has grown up and is ready to let us in on her experience of love and break-ups in a mature fashion. This album still plays well, and is not at all outdated.

A classic R&B modern album, with 21st century women's themes that are bangable from front to back.

Album Description
Ladybug Mecca returns with a body of work that she considers a combination of her life experiences. She is back and stronger than ever with her highly anticipated solo release "Trip the Light Fantastic".
Customer Reviews:
Plesant surprise.......2007-07-02
I've always been a fan of Digable Planets, mainly because of the funky vibe from Ladybug, so I figured that her solo album would be everything I liked about DP, just lacking Doodlebug and Butterfly.
I was kinda right.
It was all that and more. I remember Ladybuy describing her album as "music", rather than tying it down to a single genre, and the album is evidence to its truth. From her classic hiphop/spoken word vibe from DP, to her ventures into alt-rock vibes, pop-ish sounds, jazzy and new-age sounds, the album's all over the place, yet they all share a similar ambiance that Ladybug's vocals create.
No other featured vocalists (aside from the skits), but it's nothing to trip about, ladybug keeps it poppin. Def recommend.
Proof most good music is outside the mainstream.......2006-07-05
This is a great album! If I had to compare her to someone, I'd say Mystic, but their flows are very different. What they do have in common is an effortless shift from rapping to singing and a refreshingly fresh sound. And unlike many "solo" efforts by female rappers, the album is not dominated by featured vocalists; she actually performs almost all of the vocals on the album.
The solo debut of the female Digable Planets member is very eclectic. It goes from Hip Hop to R&B to Pop to Rock to... some stuff I'd hesitate to categorize. This may explain the lack of radio play, but that usually means an artist's music is not trite or cliché.
The 18 tracks consist of an intro (track 1), a skit (track 14), and 16 songs. Lyrics are not included in the booklet. The CD is not in a jewel case - it is in a two-panel unlatched flip-open cardboard jacket with a plastic CD holder.
Takin it to the next.......2006-02-26
I've followed Dig Ps since back in the day and have never stopped listening to their UNBEATABLE beats, rhymes and lyrical content. Sometimes the whole is greater than the parts (ie, Tribe Called Quest). Well apparently this part is as great as the whole. Ladybug lays down some crazy phat tracks in a great mix of genres. If you want pure hip hop you'll only get a few tracks of that here, but if you have an open mind or at least enjoy music from various genres then you will LOVE this cd. As original as you can get without loosing your audience, as accessible as the latest radio pop and with lyrical content to keep the philosopher and the thug happy.
She's Back On Time/Broadcast Where We See/Run & Tell A Friend.......2006-02-10
Our Sista of Conciousness Ladybug Mecca has been through a lot since the days of Blowout Comb, and now reappears with an evolved and deeply thoughtful pastiche of new gems. Many of the tracks have a real airiness about them, though we do hear the more familiar Ladybug/Mecca of yesteryear on at least a couple of tracks. Musical arrangements: impeccable. Creativity: way outside the box. Singing: ethereal. This album is a steal at fourteen bucks for 18 great tracks.
I wrote this review while listening to the album beginning to end. Lyrics in parentheses are ones I guessed at. Though not an easy task, I would rank the tracks in order from most superb to least superb but still good as follows: 15, 4, 9, 13, 12, 5, 11, 14, 18, 16, 3, 17, 8, 7, 2, 1, 10, 6
1. Dark Matter. A very nice instrumental intro. Wind chimes. Makes you think because of the title. If you listen with headphones, you can hear some conversation in the background. Not sure what it's about.
2. Don't Disturb the Peace. This one's an alt-rock style track. Very short and to the point. "...she didn't know the consequence of being an unconditional punching bag breathing"... "Oh, what a mental game--so irrational--Have you ever had a conversation with a head case?" This was the first song that caught my attention, not only because it's the first song on the album, but because of that hook. I think this is going to turn out to be a very revealing album. "What is up with you when you just talk that shi+ and don't live up to that? Sucka-free, now sucka, get back." Damn those abusive relationships.
3. Children Say. "I used to hang out in my room, just sit around watching TV. I'd watch the stories on the news. I'd swear it all was deceiving `mysterious weather patterns sweep the nation'... I close my eyes, a child... *dag, am I going to live to see my 15th birthday???* I ask my mommy why... the situation has come as far to this." Interesting trip back in time. Children know when things ain't right. Young Ladybug was no exception.
4. Ladybug Come Outside. A funky, bouncy track that re-introduces the hip hop Ladybug to those who have been waiting for so long. I love it! "Raise your right fist, in Goddess we trust. Mama Earth where we dwell (is adverse to us).....[She's flows on this one] It's the beginning of the end, the beginning of the end, of the paradigm shift, so...run `n' tell a friend. " "Walk the walk with those like-minded. Talk the talk... to the ones that are blinded." "Ladybug, Ladybug, spit one rhyme. Miss Ladybug Mecca, do you still have time?" "Ladybug, Ladybug, my oh my, I'm glad you left the game, `cause you back on time."
5. Show the World. Another airy, mellow track with a Latin feel that showcases the beauty of Ladybug's singing voice. "You're 9-to-5'ing, your bills are piling, but there's no dollar still"... "The streets is violent, your daughter's wyling, you've done all you can do"... "Smile with your eyes...speak with your heart...and show the world some soul...show the world...it ain't easy...show the world...this is you." "A bad decision...the wrong religion...we all are on our path..." "Sometimes we may fall, it's all good, we will make it ..." "Smile with your eyes..."
6. Mr. Mayor. A rock'n'rollish track that hasn't quite grown on me yet, but has a lot of interesting experimentation, including a little scratching here and there and some guitar riffs. "Parade around like you've got something to do; if you're livin' for the people, why do I see right through?" "You are (a fraud), you are (not large), you are (not in charge)." I hope I got those lyrics right-kind of difficult to decipher.
7. Dogg Starr. Wow. A track called Sirius B/Dog Star. She's rapping on this track and "All the way live, everyday life, live from Earth-yo, I hit you from the Dog Star... broadcast where we see-Sirius B." "Now you see the complexity it takes to compete--simple minds and simple rhymes play the back seat. Regu-lar shi+ lo-ses, don't get abused, kid." A lot of interesting sound/music effects going on here as well.
8. Leaving It All Behind. A little vignette of a conversation/debate between Mecca and a homegirl during which Mecca floats away into dreams of leaving the projects for the beach. Segues into another very light, airy, flute-enhanced, Latin-flavoured ditty that, to my mind, recalls 1970's feel-good songs that became TV show soundtracks. "Sheeeeeee walks alone, but she says she'll never cry... Sheeeeeeee says that the game's an illusion, living in twisted confusion.....and she's leaving them all behiiiiind." "Sheeeeee loves to play with ladybugs in trees...sheeeeeees gone bon voyage on a journey, giving into all the yearning, and relieving her slave-made mind..." Ends with her heading off to catch her bus and bidding farewell to her homegirl.
9. Sexual Alchemy. Keep up with the pace, now. Do I hear a Fela Kuti horns intro??? Oh my GOSH, this is TOO funky!!! Oh, this is off the hook. "To the break of May, or to Auset, catch me in a fre-quen-cy--unh. In your wildest dreams, ever knew this thing? Sexual Al-che-my--unh." "Let us come two-gether like mag-netic. Imagine there's no pain, `magine there's no shame, no longer each other to blame. Dabble in a little bit... if you don't like it, split." Now see, this here is artistry. What a complete and total reinvention of the squeaky, rusty wheel. There's much more, but you've gotta buy the cow to get the milk, darlings.
10. Centre of Nowhere. There's some more Latin flavour here, and a lot of harmonizing. Another throwback to the `70s. I can tell there's some EWF influence here. More flutes. I just love it. "Living at the center of nowhere, puncturing your wings, knowing change will come." "All you've got to do is tell yourself to leave the burden behind you." Definitely sounds like Esthero on this one.
11. Please Don't. More Latin flavour! I LOVE the drum intro! Some spoken word, too 4 ya! Mellow. "So... please don't, unless you like the rejection of my tone..." "He thinks he's really that slick cat. He thinks he's intelligent, all that. [Wow, reminds me of Jill Scott!] Well, Supafly, check out the headlines. Chicks like me, we see you from miles & miles." "It's cool and all, that now you can talk that junk--got the noni, then you ran like a punk. But we know the truth though, you really in a smokeless funk--took a tad, now you think you a hunk. You're just imaginin', fathomin' havin' it like that. When you abuse your sexuality, it makes you feminine, Jack. Who wants a man like that? And that's a fact. So please keep it movin', `cause there ain't no turnin' back." H!Hwellll.
12. Last Train. Oh, a really nice jazzy one. Martin Luther: "Last train for Mary will be leaving (choo-choooo), better get your ticket. Headed for freedom, it's time to shiiiiiine." This is a fun one. I feel like doing the Lindy Hop. Listen to that piano! Ladybug: "It was 7:45 in the a.m.--I am... taking time off for Mec, and you know how... I keep it going, `cause things are what I make it, and who I am is mine for sure." Martin Luther: "You got me huffin' and puffin', I'm chuggin' like a choo-choo train (Choo! Choo!)... the state of the world might make you want to go insane... so keep on pushin' `til you reach a better day." Ladybug: "Embrace the spirits around you. Be one with the sun, devour your power." "The intentions of your soul is pure. Your mind is deeper than the ocean floor." "It's like shimmy shimmy cocoa puff, shimmy shimmy sham. I'm gonna buy myself some gold, and buy myself some land." *snapping to the melody*
13. Sweet & Polite. Oh, I like this one. "I'm always on my job, straight creepin' through the fog..." I LOVE this song! "...up top, cop it--bet. You know it's...LadyBug Mecc..... Fall-in...to my velocity, and do a couple ohms and open up to something clear." "She's so sweet and polite, petite and (on the blithe). A rebel on the outskirts, cute, clever, make it hurt. She's so sweet and polite, petite and (on the blithe). Tricky like I'm doin' dirt, cute, clever, make it hurt." Sprinkle a lil' Portuguese lingo about here and there. "Cops hide behind the gun, kid shot the same night, oh shi+, that's what's up, be prepared to head it up."
14. Suicidethol. Time for a little commercial break.
Ladybug: "Walking through the park used to be such a drag. My runny nose would always let me know that Spring was on the way. But since I've started taking Suicidathol, I have no secretions at all." Gentleman: "Suicidathol killufast tablets help control natural body fluids by drying them up permanently, over a short period of time-in most cases. It can help you feel confident that your nose won't run ever again. Common side effects include kidney failure, liver damage.......muscle pain, fast heartbeat, sore throat and urinating every two minutes." This is a hilarious parody! I've only given bits & pieces of it.
15. You Never Get Over It. My very favorite song on the whole entire album. Starts slow, then is upbeat but melancholy. "What do you think of first thing when you wake up? What do you think of when the one you love is suf-fer-ing the most? What do you do when some-one tells you they're going away for a long, long time and the echoes from the pit of your heart keeps go-ing and they don't stop, no, no, they just don't stop." "Standing on the top of the roof just look-ing up. A sprinkle of cotton and turquoise blow as re-ality stings when the (*?*) rings. What do you do when someone tells you they're going away, and you must be brave, and there's gonna be some time and a little re-action, but it's the way and it's not going to change and.." "...loneliness and visions of you got me react-in a language a girl can't even imagine... loneliness and visions of you got me re-act-in a language a girl can't articulate when it... comes to love I have for you, for you. Comes to love I have for you, for you, for you." "What good does it do when your definitions can't de-fine the emotion through your religion?" This song is incredibly deep and touching once you find out Sista Mecca lost both parents within a short time of one another following the recording of the Blowout Comb album.
16. Remember When? You guessed it. Some more Latin flava. Trance makes an appearance. Drumming, Spanish guitar, background chant-like vocalizing. "Remember when I touched your soul? I know that I was outta control. Are you Dogon? Where are you from? You're not from here. Wanna make you mine, protect you. This is divine, I respect you." Some more Portuguese crooning. Something really out of this world tends to occur whenever Spanish guitar & percussion are overlayed. Outstanding.
17. Oh Poor You. This one has a "rock" feel to it. "My life has been nothing but a blessing to date. Even through the unknown confessions of hate." "And for the so-called profit...dude, you need to stop it." "My trust lies in the Truth between the lines. And everyday's a test of the soul, I know. It took a while to sift through the weeds in the garden. Deeply rooted demons (in deceit) for my stardom. Yeah, she's back and with the synergy. Retrograde couldn't even stop my energy. Or the gravity pull a woman has on a man when the moon is full and in demand, yeah." "Oh poor you. So sad and so con-fused. You want mercy. Just thirst the attention, and you thrill in your neglection." Oops. Somebody wasn't worthy, mature or understanding enough to wear the King's crown.
18. Step Up Wise. Oh! Snap to this! Here comes the Rebirth of Slick bass groove. No mistaking this one. "No, it's no joke, no game, it's live. You want the Truth, *slick*, step up wise." "...Unh like it is, yeah, cold, green light. Queens, don't stress, don't fuss, don't fight." "Again, it's the *slick*, I kissed it and blessed it. Never have to ask, is there born another classic? Go'n switch your car, it don't matter, that's chatter. But we joke: How I zone? (Yeah... you know how it goes.)"
nickle slick rebirth..........2005-07-17
uhhh...
i caint lie... i was expeckin the rebirth of the rebirth of slick or sumphn.
i dint quite get it... instead... i got pleasantly surprised...
lilsista seriously comes thru soundin more like res or esthero than her ol' old way, and that's not a bad thang.
(unless'n you jus some ol' hard-rock/stubborn as hell and dont wanna give in to the progressiveness of an artist... that aint you is it?)
but,
i caint lie #2... ladybug remains one of our top two female hip hop artists (lauryn hill's the other) and I WAS A HOPIN AND A WISHIN for her to kick it like she useta... if she dont carry the weight, then who?
'trip the light' is more enjoyable to me than aya or m.i.a.'s cd... (my opinion)
so get this
and slip into a whole nother kinda cool...

Album Description
"Just Because" offers an escape to a crowded room filled with an organic, sensual, funky vibe from tracks one through eleven. The Groove and the licks are reminiscent of a Coltrane staccato, a Sarah Vaughn run and the comfort of a Donny Hathaway rift that just wraps around you and hold you comfortably. Oh yeah, Conya is back!
The Eleven-song disc represents an evolution of spirit. From the light, airy, danceable Opening cut "Just Because," to the smoky vibey, "Stay," to the gospel tinged, "Sweet Luv," and the hopeful aspiring, "Miracle." Conya pulls it all from her inner being and puts it on display for the world.

I have both of her project and I luv them both equally. I have to say she one of my favorite artist. This album is strictly for the grown and sexy. Tracks 8 & 11 are truly my favorites. I downloaded the album on my IPOD within minutes after recieving it in the mail. Now I rock them both on my IPOD and in my car. You will love the smooth sound of her poems turned into song. My advice is to not sleep on this. This is real talent right here.
another grat album for Ms. doss .......2006-02-08
This cd is still in heavy rotation in my CD player. Ms. Doss is one of the better r&b singers around these days. Even though i dont have her poems album, I was smart enough to buy just because while it was 10.00 on amazon because when it's no longer in print, it's gonna cost a fortune. The album starts with just because, a laid back track to groove to, and you can just listen to it straight through. Some of the better songs on this album is stay, the wind, day by day, what should I do, sweet love, sixth of june, and damn that. it's a shame that she is so underrated because she can clearly outsing any of the teirra maries and ashanti's out there. It's comforting that there are some artists that still make real music. Not that crap that's played on the radio.
DOSS IS BOSS in NEO soul.............2006-01-14
I was introduced to this phenomenal young lady at a house party, where she actually sang live for one of my friends whom she used to work with or what have you......she is a great performer, she has a great sultry voice that captures you and sends you soaring to the clouds, her music is inspiring and funny, and it makes you laugh at yourself and life in general, it made me think how did she see into my house when I was actually doing exactly what the song "STAY" says......lol
She takes you spinning around on a whirlwind of emotions and I am glad I had a chance to ride her musical rollercoaster...

Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous!.......2007-04-06
The CD features well known and unknown neo soul artists. It's refreshing hearing music that goes beyond the "regular" music heard on typical radio stations. I started listening to neo soul via internet a couple of years ago and have been hooked ever since! Try 'em all!
Something really NU...........2006-11-15
So, what is this thing called nu, neo, organic soul? Musically, you might place it as a blend of blues and rock, poetry, elements of hip hop, sensuality and sexuality. If you're looking for firm reference points for when it was christened, you could place a marker at 1995. D'angelo's landmark `brown sugar' album, maybe Lauryn Hill post-Fugees, Maxwell, Erykah Badu's `Baduizm', Me'shell N'Degeocello, Jill Scott. A time when, whilst hip hop and commercial R&B sported the latest Adidas and continued to bloat up and hone its finely polished gold-toothed swagger, a fresh band of black American vocalists were bearing their souls and developing a live, reflective, introspective, afro-centric alternative.
In all the music featured on nu soul sessions, there is plenty of direct lineage to trace and a whole spectrum of black music heritage oozing from the grooves. Obvious parallels to draw with the effortless, stripped back arrangements of Donny Hathaway, Minnie Riperton, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Roberta Flack, Billie Holiday, Regina Belle, Anita Baker, Nina Simone - "real" soul, black pride, sensitivity, love and understanding, a new confidence. As a poem by Mecca Donna states, "the lifestyle of soul, not just dashikis and afros, it's the silence in between the prose, the commas, the inhale..." the days of `90s conscious hip hop too - early Gangstarr, A Tribe Called Quest, KMD, De La Soul, all showing that hip hop could be a subtle, under-stated medium for positive messages.
Ten years on, the new generation of neo-soul artists have taken the music away from the dangers of stale, formulaic structures by opening themselves to other influences, treading new ground. All-new mavericks like Reggie Watts, Lizz Fields, Amos Lee and Goapele are not afraid to throw in some `80s synth-pop, African rhythms or folk into their beats. Anything goes in the new nu soul era and there are a whole bunch of artists up for taking risks. It is no coincidence either that they are releasing their music on smaller labels as major companies slash rosters and tighten their focus on the higher echelons of commercial success. For music fans looking for something new, for the music to progress rather than stagnate, these are happy days. Once more, we have a hint of the good ol' times when music fans had to search hard to find some of the best music. But don't get your hands dusty just yet. Thanks to sessions and our eagle-eyed compiler, Adrian Gibson of London's Jazz Café, you can leave your deerstalker at home and catch some of the best of the nu soul nu breed right here in one handy 2CD package, including a healthy helping of exclusive, upfront, unreleased tracks. It doesn't get any nu-er than that.

amazing.......2005-03-22
I bought this on a whim from a used cd/record store, with only the caption "weird, melodic, electro-pop; commercial jingles for the clinically insane."
Those were the best $6 I've ever spent. The cd has addicting beats and bizarre lyrics. What an amazing upbeat cd! I would say it is like the Postal Service on methamphetamines. From children to hipsters, this cd will be appreciated.
almost perfect except for..............2003-12-31
This album is wonderful. The only exception in my book is the 'hidden' track, which is made for kids not the people enjoying this album. A few of the instrumentals can get tedious but are enjoyable in a way.
The rest of the tracks are strange, different little nuggets. '1983' is my fave but every song following it falls under the realm of instant happiness. 'Best Friend' should have been picked up by VW for a Beetle commercial. These songs are feel-good, sunny morning toe tappers that can make just about everyone walk away feeling just a little more bouyant. This is one album I can truly say I am glad I bought.
This album is too cool !.......2003-09-23
This is one of the coolest albums I've heard in years. I can't wait for their next release! The music is original from start to finish. Lots of different syles are explored. A great debut effort. After listening to so many albums where every song sounds the same this is REALLY a breath of fresh air. I love the use of extensive use synthesizers with acoustic and electric instruments. The band really explores many different sounds. The lyrics are mostly quirky and fun but they all have substance underneath. The mixes and multi-layered textures and wide variety of vocals used are really neat. I love this album! Finally something different and good.
LET ME GET DOWN LET ME GET DOWN.......2002-10-25
I think the coolest and most bizarre song I own out of the 5300 songs...I have is Electric Pocket Radio. One Millionth customer is just a cool as hell song layered and built up perfectly. BEEP BEEP Love is unavoidably addictive, and everything in between just rocks. Get this album, you couldn't possibly regret it.
Original!.......2002-10-06
If you're looking for some awesome songs that are unlike anything you've ever heard before, look no further. This is an awesome album all around, but the song Fuzzy has got to be the best Incredible Moses Leroy has ever done. I first heard it on a TV ad for the italian motorscooter Vespa. It's so adorable!

Nice introduction.......2007-05-07
I have seen these name thrown around (Acid Jazz and Nu-Soul Mix), but it was not until this disc that I understand the differents. Totally enjoyable.
I agree with Jeff.......2005-07-29
Track four fails to impress me, but the rest of the CD is pretty good! I wish more acid jazz was available!
Cheers! M2
Funk Fortified.......2004-04-06
I was initially disappointed to open the insert and see that some of these cuts are 10 years old, but played it anyway since I had not heard them. I like everything on here except track 4! This is straight up funkdified soul-ish. Tracks 1,2,7, and 9 are the premiums, but this for turning it up loud on your patio with a cold one. Pure unadulterated move your groove thang vibe!

Album Description
Soul Satisfaction is the first neo-soul compilation to feature both high-profile artists alongside emerging cult favorites. It uses the term "nu-soul" to emphasis the progressive nature of the music it presents. A number of the tracks on it have not been exposed previously. It mixes widely-acclaimed artists such as Rachelle Ferrell, Zap Mama, Rahsaan Patterson, Tony Rich Project and Me'Shell Ndegeocello alongside overlooked talents such as Adriana Evans and Rosie Gaines and emerging forces such as Hil St. Soul, Amp Fiddler and Ledisi. As such it is a snapshot of a spectrum of fascinating, challenging artists who give the lie to those who say the current music scene lacks quality artists.

Neo soul sister in MD.......2007-01-08
I really enjoyed this CD. It has some really nice cuts, and I can listen to it over and over.
A Very Nice collection.............2004-11-16
this collection of "Nu-Soul Music" is a hot one. most of the songs have been released already but when they are put here together, it a lovely thing! the artist on this cd go from the "famous" (ZAP MAMA, Me'SHELL NDEGEOCELLO,RACHELL FERRELL) to the "almost famous" (RASHAN PATTERSON,OLU AND TONY RICH), to the "who the hell is that" (POSTIVE FLOW AND ANDREUS)....plus those artist with an underground following (LEDISI,ERIC ROBERSON, HIL ST. SOUL).....of the 14 tracks, the ones that stood
out for me where:
1. Andreus-Rebellious Love (never heard of the brother but the song is nice)
2. Ledisi-So Right (i love her music, she can do no wrong)
3. The Tony Rich Project-Let Me (this song is HOTTT!!)
4. Rachelle Farrell-Nothing In The Middle (it was recorded live and Rachelle shows her vocal skills!)
5. Zap Mama-Miss Q-N (the lyrics of this song are deeeeep!)
6. Me'Shell Ndegocello-Andromeda & the Milky Way (the title is enough!)
im not saying the rest arent good, these are just the songs that moved me. im sure they will move you as well. the cd is really worth pickin up. ONELOVE
