About the Artist
Mercenary 6 A.K.A. Maurice K. Lawson was raised in the East Bay area of Pittsburg, Ca. Born on August 20, 1979, he was influenced by music and other musicians in his family all though he was the only one who was interested in hip hop. After being saved on October 17, 1999, he and Daniel Jones, a childhood friend then formed an independent label called G.I. Entertainment. He had his own vision of what God's children should be...spiritual. He believes that we should concentrate on having a relationship than being religious! With banging beats and profound lyrics, even most Christians begin to criticize his style of ministry. "Can't please everyone in this part of the industry," Merc 6 quotes, "Either folks will say you shove the Gospel too much or you don't mention it enough. Then you might as well just label it hip-hop and stop calling it Christian hip-hop, I believe you shouldn't criticize the Gospel anyway. I'm going to keep it hardcore because that's how I bring! it!"
