About the Artist
Gernado N. Abrams, a 28-year old Jacksonville native, has been called out and indeed is a "Chosen One" within the world of Gospel (Ragga-Muffin) Hip Hop music. Since the age of 5, Gernado has been a student of the art of music. He began listening to Reggae music with his Father. Musicians like Bob Marley began to inspire Gernado to grow more and more within the world of Reggae music. While growing he began to find connection with other youths who had similar interests which lead to him becoming a member of the middle, and eventually high school bands. While attending Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Gernado learned to play such instruments as the Drums, Trumpet and some Piano. He eventually graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts with a College Preparatory Degree. The degree bears a gold instrumental music seal that signifies his art. In addition, he also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Accounting with a minor in Business Management. Upon graduation Gernado, stayed rooted in music through his affiliation with local dancehall disc jockeys. In the mid nineties, Gernado embarked on his first Reggae Hip-Hop Project. It was on this project that he was able to showcase his vocal as well as his instrumental capabilities. This project was a collaboration between Gernado and some original Islanders from Kingston, Jamaica. Although the project was never publicly released, it received rave reviews from all who heard it. Majority of the listeners of this project were from the Islands and were connoisseurs of "Real Reggae" music. This very project became a feather in his cap. Gernado, who describes himself as "A Child of Light", is now presently working on a Gospel (Ragga-Muffin) Hip Hop project that can be described as a mix between the heartfelt musical styling of lyricists such as: Papa San and Big Brother Jake. This project is anticipated to be one of the most creative and musically expressive projects of Gernado's career. He was released by God to "Go Forth" and pursue this project with full intensity in early 2002. Gernado has been diligently working on the project which will be entitled "Persistence". This will ensure that it makes its way to the public platform, and that connoisseurs of music continue to be impressed. Gernado contends that through his music he can get a message out. He believes that God made music a universal language, which signifies that Christians can have a medium in which they can creatively express and enjoy the different ways in which God reveals himself. Gernado seeks to share God and the message of Christ through his music, which he describes as "Spiritual Poetry". In addition to ministering the word through song, Gernado has also accepted his call to go forth and preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He is now a licensed minister.

PERSISTENCE - just as actually stated. Persist. Continuing on a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition, or previous failures. 'I exist to persist, and insist to resist the enemy (Satan), and he shall flee'. This Album is an inspirational message that God laid on my heart to share in a very unique and creative way. Being commissioned to spread the word of God, I decided that it was worth while to complete chapter one of this project. Therefore as 'I exist to persist, and insist to exist in the shadow of the almighty', I'm helping others to go forth…

5 out of 5 stars Goofball New York Thrashmetal with a brain and a Punk attitude.......2007-07-09

Not as intense nor anywhere near as morbid as Slayer's Seasons In The Abyss of the same year, Anthrax's Persistence Of Time cries for tolerance and the end of hatred and stupidity in a more melodic sort of way. While both albums are good favorites of mine, I enjoy this one especially for it's passion and agression. While many typical air-headed mainstream metal fans would possibly like this cd for it's tough hooks and the more extreme fans of death metal might find it to be too simplistic, Persistence of time finds perfect ground between punk rock anger and speed and heavy metal musicianship. I believe anyone who likes rock music could find enjoyment with this album. The lyrics are definitely a plus for those with an intellectual side. Calling for action and positive thought among the rat race of despair, death, greed, racism, and substance abuse, Anthrax stand high above their thrash metal peers leading a revolution that would sadly go nowhere and lead to bands like limp biskit and korn spouting utter nonsense. If you like any kind of heavy music with an intelligent side then please give this cd a listen. Any other person who likes Slayer and the Dead Kennedys like I do could truly enjoy this. Even fans of the Cro-Mags come to think of it. If Blood, Discharge, and Belly of The Beast don't get your blood flowing, you may possibly be dead or into twangy annoying CMT crap...

3 out of 5 stars Decent latter day Joey product - 3.5 stars.......2007-04-04

It could be said that my title to this review damns the album with faint praise. And that would be true for this album has a few good points and a group of bad ones, so IMHO here are the two sides of the coin;

The Bad
- Dour, depressed subject matter on a bunch of the songs. Gone are the silly shorts that's for sure
- Too few memorable tunes. Keep it in the Family and In My World are standouts but only the start of H*Red matches them. Unless you take into account the way cool Got the Time, a cover of the Joe Jackson songs.
- No atmosphere or sense of occasion. Everything feels a bit forced.

The Good
- the haunting Keep it in the Family and In My World - both metal to the core causing all sorts of unpleasant introspection. Basically both harrowing experienced and thats meant in a good way.
- the band yet again co-produce which means that this is how they wanted it to sound. Something in me can see the point of a producer but other times I applaud bands putting in the extra effort.
- Belladonna is in fine voice here, the band sound tight.

Not great by any means but not hurl inducing either. If you liked their early stuff and fell of the ride before this album then pick it up if you can as it fleshes out their Belladonna era catalogue nicely.

5 out of 5 stars all time favorite Anthrax album.......2006-06-10

I love this album. A definite classic that really defines the thrash that is Anthrax. With great song like Gridlock, Keep It In The Family, Belly Of The Beast, and ofcourse Got The TIme. Must have for any Anthrax or thrash metal fan.

5 out of 5 stars so long joey.......2006-06-05

joey belladonna's last album with scott ian and company, nice way to go out too. this album is from start to finish a great album. not every track starts out great, but from the first chorus on this is a kick ass album. the only thing that would make me downgrade this album is that scott ian doesn't harmonize with joey as much, but thats ok because joey did a great job here. my favorite track has to be one man stands, because i love the riff and scotts vocals when theyre there are superb, great great stuff.

3 out of 5 stars Wasnt Up to Par back in 1991, and still is an another Over-rated Anthrax Album.......2006-02-13

I remember when "Persistence of Time" was released back in 1991. I used to talk with about the album with alot of people back then and ask what they thought if it, and most of them either said it sucked, or it wasnt up to par with the previous 2 releases before it. To this day, I still agree with those people of yesteryear, and There are really only a few really kick a** songs on this album. I think the problem with Anthrax is that "Amoung the Living" was such a Metal Masterpiece, that I BELIEVE that they were never able to top that effort, unlike other Thrash Metal artist of the 80's whos albums were getting better, or at least staying at the same level as previous releases. I cant recommend "Amoung the Living" enough, but as for other Anthrax releases of the time, only "Spreading The Disease" would rate higher then 3 stars, and of course Amoung the Living is a solid 5. Once again, this is a pretty good album, but there are some really lousy songs on here, and only two songs stand out as EXCELLENT. Try Amoung the Living or Spreading the Disease if you want some older Antrax, as they are wayyy better then this.

Product Description

On 9 October 1999, Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Tim Story performed together at The Gatherings Concert Series in Philadelphia. What the audience experienced inside St Mary's church was the realization of a long dreamed of collaboration. The wonderous concert was the culmination of a well calculated plan which was ultimately foiled as the two artists were swept away in a fever of abstract expressionism. Rehearse all you like, intuition, timing and environment are at the heart of this art as the very nature of the sound collage is indeterminacy. Just over a year later, the duo has released The Persistence Of Memory, a 56 minute homage to their pre-, post- and Gatherings concert collaboration. The disc melds studio sessions with tape from the live concert while the music combines Roedelius's sonic abandon and Story's lyrical warmth. Without rhythm, the music twists and shifts in imaginative ways and the listener is soon lost in the thoughts, memories and passions of two extraordinary talents. To produce The Persistence of Memory, Roedelius and Story had to enter the darkness of improvisation. The music here is the shadow cast by the enlightenment gained at concert's close. This edition is limited to 400 copies numbered and signed by the artists

5 out of 5 stars Not What you expect from Tim and Rodelius...........2005-05-30

I'll start with the historical on this disc....if you are a fan of Tim's stuff and follow him on his website....you may know about this little gem, and may own this disc...

If not, Tim and Rodelius created this free form sound recording and called it "The Persistence of Memory." This disc is all 1 movement...it reminds me of the free form styles of Steve Roach and those of Robert Rich when he is doing his "sleep concerts."

The disc flows into sound fields...repeating fields and waves of sounds washing over each other...with slight changes of feel and sound...it's meant seriously for meditation and reflection....when I listen to it...usually it's when i need to relax and take my mind of the insanity of daily life, and float or soar or just levitate for a moment...

Tim and Rodelius left in alot of the flaws in the editing process...simply to give the realness of the recording...Tim told me in an e-mail or 2 that the recording process and the subsequent release of this disc was an experiment that went well...

And so...owning this disc is a chore for the subtle fan...Tim made it available to the true fans of his...he pressed 400 initially and he and Rodelius autographed them...and also placed in the spine of each disc 2 small colorful pebbles...it was Tim's idea...he's a big fan of shadowbox art...and so I treasure my copy...which is 118/400. If you wanna give this moving soundscape a try...Tim may have a few copies available at his personal website...and he may give ya a better deal than the individual sellers available thru the amazon network...

For the music fan...to like this disc you have to enjoy sound fields and loops and layers...if you want the piano filled works of Tim, the gradual passion of rodelius' arrangements...you are best to get their collaboration entitled "Lunz." Because this disc...is something much, much different.

The best way to fully appreciate this CD is to listen to it at any moment of your life! That is because it is applicable at all times, forever, now, and a hundred years from now. Those of you who may be new to Small's works, may want to take a gander at her 5 other albums here: www.cdbaby.com/jennifersmall
There you will read and hear her tunes, her life, and the excitement that another CD is soon to come our way! YEAH!

5 out of 5 stars Restful but alive.......2002-04-19

Jennifer Small's Positive Persistence seems somewhat unique to me. It is classical in style and intellectual content, but almost New Age-ish in its relaxing tone. Perhaps this is a moderm example of what folks have in mind when they tout the meditational qualities of Bach, Handel and Mozart. The music provides structure and ideas for the mind without leaving unanswered questions at the end of every phrase. I find this album very nourishing and pleasant. I play it often, especially while planning projects or resolving personal questions.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Classical Musicianship!!! A+++ Material!!!!.......2002-04-18

This music is simply beautiful! It's beautifully executed arpeggios clearly indicate deep and serious classical training! Jennifer Small's classical touch and intense knowledge of technical musical theory is clearly heard throughout each unique original composition. There is no octave work, as indicated by another reviewer, who obviously has no musical theory backround. These compositions contain moving single note melodies that are romantic and soothing in nature. Arpeggios(this is the correct spelling) are performed in several keys throughout the compositions, again indicating the composer's knowledge of transpositions and modulations. As a retired professional music judge, I must insist on Jennifer Small's wonderful display of music and music theory intelligence. This CD, Positive Persistence, along with Small's other 5 CD's (albums), Content Destinations, Relevant Paths, Christmas Concertos, Traffic in Paradise and Well Lit Passage, demonstrate the composer's delight in composing, performing and providing serenity to her audiences worldwide. What other CD can you suggest to all ages, babies, children, teenagers, adults and senior citizens, that always brings a smile and comfort to their spirit and soul? Jennifer Small's album, Positive Persistence, along with her other 5 Album CD's, bring that smile and comfort to all of us of all ages! We are blessed to have this album in our collection! It deserves and A+++ rating for its music content, its layout and jacket design, its lyrical poetry inside the cover, and to its composer, Jennifer Small.

What a wonderful collection of delightful and uplifting melodies! Beautiful harmonies with a comforting flow! This album can be played continuosly for all occasions. I highly recommend this CD, Positive Persistence, for all ages. Refreshing classical quality of musical notes. A nice CD to put on at the end of a hard day, and also great to lift you up and put you in a state of bliss.

1 out of 5 stars Wish I could rate it higher, but..........2002-04-16

I tried to give this one a chance, but the more you listen the more you realize that there really isn't much to it. The harmonies are not rich or complex, the flow doesn't take you anywhere. The musicianship seems fairly elementary. Lots of melodic arpegio style, slow octave work. Has some semblance to a less talented version of George Winston.

Maybe as background music, but even then, I think there are much better alternatives.
