This is a great CD! I'm so happy that I ran across it here. The jams are tight & loose at the same time. Good swampy stuff and downright soulfull. I'll be keeping my eyes out for anything else Blue Mother Tupelo comes out with. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves music that jams with a southern Mississippi/swampy Louisiana/high lonesome Appalachian mountain combination. And their other CD rocks too ... I've got them both! What a band! 5 stars!!!!

What a refreshing CD! I really love the down & dirty grooves throughout this CD. All of the songs are powerful and full of emotion from beginning to end. This is a must-have CD for anyone who loves real downhome tunes from the blues to bluegrass - it makes you want to boogie as well as reflect on life itself. 5 stars indeed!!!!!

What the reviewer before me failed to mention is that the covers he references were throwaway tracks at best. I'm actually glad they weren't included, it would dilute the quality album material. This box set has every good Crowes album. From Shake Your Money Maker to Three Snakes you can really see the band develop from a solid Stones knockoff to a truly original band. The change begins on the Southern Harmony and is fully realized on the masterpiece that followed, the band's finest album, Amorica. Three Snakes has a more psychedelic leaning at times, but still has some amazing songs. Generally, it's a really underappreciated album. The live disc included here is a huge bonus, capturing the band at the peak of its powers; it features the group's defining lineup-Chris & Rich Robinson, with Marc Ford on lead guitar, Johnny Colt on bass, Ed Harsch on keys and Steve Gorman on drums (same lineup as the band's 2nd, 3rd & 4th albums). The pair of mediocre studio albums (the dumbed-down rocker, By Your Side, and the Led Zep ripoff, Lions) that came after this set was released are uninspired, feature a different cast of musicians and aren't worth your time & money.

The Black Crowes were a good band. So why is this yet another in the long line of crappy box sets?

If the title had been "a box set of all their regularly released albums," it would have been acceptable. But the title states "The Complete..." This box set is far from complete.

This box set excludes the great "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "Rainy Day Woman #12 and #35," and several others.

Had the record company included these songs on the box set, I might have bought it. Instead, I'll go to the internet. And while I'm there, maybe get the rest!

The "official" review of this set is idiotic. While the technical stuff and bonus items aren't great, I don't think they detract from the music at all. And to call Amorica a lesser effort and Three Snakes and One Charm a huge failure is just plain stupid. This set is excellent! What I was hoping for was some more unreleased music. I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part but the Crowes have some great music that they have released as B-sides (Darling of the Underground Press) and, well, just plain never released (You're Wrong). I would like to see an actual album that has these songs and more (I wish they would cut Jealous Guy in the studio...or give us an excellent live version) on it. But until then, this set will do just fine and the bonus songs are all great.

I have been with The Black Crowes from the start. Their music inspires me. As it does everyone who connects with them. Chris Robinson's voice is so powerful, and full of emotion. Their music encaptures every emotion a person may have, because they write about themselves. The highs and the lows, of being The Black Crowes. They are 100% real. This box set shows everyone who is willing to listen exactly who and what they are.

If you want to buy all four Crowes Studio albums at once, this is your thing. It's got Shake your Money Maker, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, The original version of Amorica, and Three Snakes and one Charm, all remastered and with bonus tracks, plus attractive packaging and a bonus Live EP, and also CD-ROM material. The only flaws would be through the albums themselves.

Overall, I'd give it a 95.

I love the album, but read the "critics review" what an idiot. Amorica was excellent, three snakes was ok, and certainly not carrer destroying. By Your Side will rebuild their stature as the most rock and roll band. The "critic" must not be a fan at all. The video's, screen savers, and stickers are great. No matter what anyone says the crowes are the best.

I am very happy to have found a copy of this cd. My mom worked on the administrative side of Stax in the seventies and eighties. As kids my sister and I meet all the groups including Sho Nuff. I lost all m albums to heat in the attic but I am slowly rebuilding my collection.

          I would say if you didn't get Blue Mother Tupelo's music, you're most certainly missing out. This CD is a great rock and blues disc. The music is honest and the tunes are intelligent, yet fun, swampy, rocking, yet folky, and even some late 60's psychedelic touches. This is a very impressive disc. If you like Creedence, Janis Joplin, Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, or the Allman Brothers, this is a must have for you. I have found myself reaching for the Blue Mother Tupelo music more often than most of my other CDs lately - just great stuff.
