After releasing their debut album "Henry Street Soul" back in 2001, The Chesterfields have been touring and recieving wild praise from critics (like Billboard magazine) and musicians (such as Dr.John and Rob Thomas) as a revolutionary sound in american music. Fusing R&B, Soul, Rock, Jazz and Blues, the band contiues to push their creative boundaries with this brand new effort. The Chesterfields brand new EP is a taste of their full length sophmore effort that is currently in the making, comprised of new original material. These tracks feature The Chesterfields: Scott Sharrard (lead and backing vocals, electric and acoustic guitars and b-3 organ) and Sean Dixon (electric bass, and key's). This release also features special guests; Charlie Drayton on drums (B-52's, Chaka Khan, Keith Richards), Brian Charette on B-3 organ and key's (Joni Mitchell, Lou Donaldson) and Jim Dooley (master film score arranger for Hans Zimmer and many others) doing synth/string arrangements on track 2. Mixing master Charlie Martinez ( Keith Richards, Rob Thomas, Mick Jagger) rounds out the creative team as co-producer and engineer.

A Lost Indiepop Gem!.......2006-09-10

Like, OMG! Why had I never heard of this band before?! If you're a fan of C-86 bands, Brit Indiepop or twee in general, you will LOVE this. Just perfect boy pop songs with nice variations on catchy jangle, eighties style (but without those dated angular rhythms). Think Shop Assistants (who they shared a split debut flexi with), Talulah Gosh, maybe a little Razorcuts. A touch of Orange Juice, etc. They were a Subway band (Flatmates!). This CD compiles tracks from their various singles, Eps and albums. I'm too lazy to go on. If you like all or most of the bands I mentioned, you will dig this for sure.

Doo Wop Memories.......2007-01-15

I brought this CD because my father was a member of The Flairs, (Ermines, Ebbtones.) He sings the lead on the song "I'd Climb the Hills and Mountains." and presumably background on the other song included. More than buying it for the songs or to reminisce, I purchased it to hear how my dad sounded during the brief (55-57) years he had with that group.

If you are a true doo wop group afficionado then I would add this to my collection. Unfortunately it's not the best of the best the era had to offer, mostly it's people who were trying to find their way, but didn't get the right songs or lineup together. At the very least it's a good musical history review.

A strong collection of old style group vocals..........1999-12-22

A good mix of tempos and styles. Not all of the cuts are great (they never are), but all are at least good-- no losers amongst them. Production values are up to Ace's always high standards. And don't be misled by the track listing above... there are twenty six (26) tracks on this puppy!

The best album I have heard in years ..............2001-10-26

From front to back .... this is the best album I have heard in a long, long time.

Every track is phenominal. They are the most diverse group of musicians I have ever heard play together.... and the final product comes out shining like gold.

They can rock anything from funk, to blues, to jazz, ..... even to afro-beat. It's crazy. It's fast, it's slow. It's grooves are slammin, and the romantic tracks make you wanna cry.

The percussion on the whole album will knock your socks off, and the lead guitarist is the second coming of Grant Green.

Album is unbelievable. If you are a fan of straight up good music ... you have to get it. You have to.
