The new flavor has touched down in the Bay Area, in the form of The Legion Of Havvokk 2003.They slam down their debut double CD entitled Access Denied. It has 34 mind-blowing tracks, expressing their various talents in creativity, flexibility, and versatile styles. Thus enabling them to work with a wide range of engineers, producers, and musicians.

The word visionaries can best describe them as a whole. A family of well-rounded, open-minded individuals that came together for one cause, and that is success. They would rather be known as businessmen first, and artists second. They have a unique chemistry, representing New York, Illinois, and California. With such titles as Off The Richter, I Ride, Forbidden Fury, Wrong Propaganda, Life Behind The Trigga, Mass Destruction, Season Of The Legion. Murder Under The Staircase.

The Legion is often thought of, as a west coast Wu Tang Clan due to the various styles and artist. The Legion is setting the stage to be a strong Record Company in the Bay Area. Joining the ranks of E40 & The Click, JT The Bigga Figga, 2PAC, Digital Underground, 4 Tay, Dru Down, and Too Short. Representing another branch of the Rap/ Hip Hop tree the Legion is a force to be reckoned with.

The time and effort put into the Legion Of Havvokk 2003 project off the stage shows up when you either disc one or disc two is inserted into your CD player. Our objective is to create a new flavor in the Bay Area. This market has shown a vast appreciation of Hip Hop music and new trends. This particular region embraces new artist and it's always trying to find something new. This area is yet to be untapped. It has been pioneered by several artists, even though some were more successful than others.

We feel that we can fill the gap and make better impact by what we have to offer. That is sound. We intend to be more customer friendly as to our marketing strategy, which is to give to the general public more quantity and quality songs for the dollar.

We know that our audience will appreciate it. We are very talented and well traveled, and grasp the concept that you have to have the total package. Which includes sound, lyrics, delivery, stage presence, and feeling the crowd. The list goes on.

It's open season on the industry! Beware of the new comers. We feel the Hip Hop/ Rap industry is flooded with clutter. You hear the same thing day in and day out until you feel like robots. We have to set a better example and set the trend!

Great disc! Give it a shot........2005-06-21

I had picked up this disc awhile ago after seeing them at a gig and lost it. Well, I just found it recently and gave it a spin and it's got some great songs on it. Their new disc is much better but give this one a try. If you dig Chevelle or From Zero you might like these guys.

I picked up my disc at a show in Ann Arbor, Michigan just a couple days ago! These guys have done an awesome job -- I can't put this CD down. The riffs are catchy, the beats are awesome, and I particularly love the synth work in Lullaby. The lyrics are thoughtful and the vox are awesomely melodious for a rock band. This is the kind of stuff you can play on loop constantly and just plain not grow tired of it... This CD is a steal at this price. And if you like the CD, be sure to see them live at your earliest convenience, because they put on an awesome show!

Nothing else like it.......2004-04-06

It's so refreshing to hear something new and different. These guys are doing it right. The songs are sick and the playing is off the hinges. Hot vocals too. There's a cool vibe throughout this CD. It hasn't left my changer since I bought it in January. Highly recommended.

My favorite CD.......2004-04-03

I have a lot to say about this CD. Firstly, I totally stumbled onto Hypnogaja when I was watching the show "Las Vegas" and I heard their song "Voodoo Baby" in one of the scenes. It took me a while to find out who did the song and I finally found it on copy of a European CD - "Bridge to Nowhere" - so I bought it. I was really impressed with the band's depth and originality, so I bought this CD. It has to be one of my favorite albums ever. I listen to it all the time and really enjoy the personal feel of the words. The singer just seems to be singing about my life. My favorite songs are "Nothing Box," "The Spaceman" and "Lullaby." I can't wait for the next CD!

This band is awesome. Have the CD. Bought 6 for christmas gifts and just bought several more for birthday gifts. Jill from L.A. and Tom from New Hampshire and all the other alias' this loser with obviously too much free time comes up with, sucks. They obviosuly need to go find a day job instead of worrying about other people "keeping" theirs. This person is obviously a failure at whatever they think they do in life, and they are bitter at everyone else who ISN't a failure. You can't just talk smack and get fans to not like a band. If we like the music, we like the music. We don't know you so why would we care what you think? You are a speck in our universe, try to grasp that concept. Just walk away now you little Amazon troll.

Surprize Wonder!.......2002-09-14

Access Denied is a wonderful techno CD. It is mostly instrumental. I suppose you could dance to it, but the music is very intellectually satisfying. They mix some horns with the synthesizers at times. The synthesizers are very criticle to this bands style. I found a copy used. I play it a lot. This is a bright sounding CD. Not dark at all. It is both soothing and fun! No tiresome transe beat drums! This is a Great find!

Brash and beautiful.......1998-12-06

Woa. FREE VERSE are a pissed trio whose social and political commentary is almost as aggressive as their music. Their female -fury-core ala BIKINI KILL and SPITBOY is both engaging and intense. Musically they alternate between brash and beautiful. One minute they are harsh and grating the next melodic and restrained. The contrast serves a two fold purpose. It keeps the music interesting by providing a wide reaching appeal and it serves as a metaphor for the band's message which uses esoteric lyrical imagery to paint a brutal picture of horrific sexual dominance. Not a picture from the perspective of the dominator ala some cock rock band, but a picture courtesy of one who has been abused and mistreated. The lyrics are shocking in their effectiveness to recreate scenes of unfathomable human misogyny and arrogance. There is almost no hope in the music of FREE VERSE. Instead it is a vehicle for the release of a victim's anger and hatred. The music may be (at times)post-punk but the lyrics are 100% hardcore fury. Anyone afraid of women who take a stand against male dominated cultural programming will run screaming from this album. Anyone interested in exploring the frame of reference of a person who won't take it anymore will be able to do so here.

this 4 CD box has most of the familiar James Bond compositions.

Still,some tunes are missing(from for instance Thunderball and For Your Eyes Only)and most of the time the attention is on the instrumental version of the title track which is a bit of a shame.And yet,there are too many great pieces on this collection to make it a failure.Alpine Drive,Dawn Raid at Fort Knox,On Her Majesty's Secret Service(every track),Miss Goodhead and so on.All great pieces that not only show the great talent of John Barry but also the great power of James Bond films.Cause when you hear the music,you see the scenes in front of you.

Very much a recommendation to all Bond and Barry fans although sometimes it focusses too much on title songs.The only solution is to buy all separate soundtracks.

Good Collection.......2005-02-24

Very nice packaging and good tracks from the Bond music library make this an anoutstanding item. "From Russia With Love" and "Diamonds Are Forever" contain beautiful and energetic renditions. The John Barry music is handled quite well. I didn't real care for the David Arnold selections. "The World Is Not Enough" was weak. Overall it is a good collection just the same.

Not excatly what I expected.......2003-04-10

I when I read some of the reviews of this I thought that this was a complete collection of all the originals of the Theme songs of every James Bond movie and remakes done by the Prague Philharmonic of some of the other songs in the various movies. After recieveing this ... I started to listen to it and found out that it was all done by the orchestra. The are very good, but to a point it is not the same thing as owning a disc will all the orignal songs on it. Overall, this good if all the you want is the orchestral versions of most of the songs in the movies or the suites out of some of the movies. To a point these don't compare to the orignals. Keep looking if you want a set with all the orignals songs in it.

The James Bond CD for the John Barry purist?.......2003-01-28

Let's cut to the chase. Nic Raine and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra do John Barry's work justice. 90% of this collection is as close as you can get to the original James Bond soundtracks. The other 10% lends itself to some artistic license with respect to the arrangements. Most notable is the main theme to Goldfinger. Also Nic slips in a few previously unreleased tracks. You will find these on the On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Golden Eye tracks. This CD boxed set is definitely made for the Bond soundtrack fan. The die hard John Barry "purist"/ traditionalist may find some of these tracks questionable at first, but after a few times Nic Raine's artistic license gives a fresh perspective to the familiar Bond/ Barry themes. The only reservation I have with this CD set is with some of selections that are performed. For instance, from Goldfinger, "Dawn Raid At Fort Knox" was a poor selection considering the selection available on that particular soundtrack. The most famous 007 soundtrack of all I dare say. Overall Nic hits the mark, and this CD set is a tribute to Barry's (as well as, George Martin's, Marvin Hamlish's, and Bill Conti's and David Arnold's) work. It's all here in one collection. I am a die-hard Bond soundtrack fan, and to the casual soundtrack fan I say this CD is set all you need to experience the Bond music legacy. To those who are hard core 007 soundtrack fans ...this is a FANTASTIC "addition" to your collection. This has to be the BEST (and probably the only) 007 "soundtrack" compilation. Whereas all the others feature the "main themes" from the Bond films as originally recorded, this one truly gives you the Bond experience.

Very enjoyable with most of the BOND music you'd want........2002-12-08

This is similar but more comprehensive than another BOND collection on one CD by the City of Prague Philharmonic. These are good renditions but clearly not the orginals. I must ask if the Prague Philharmonic does not own a harp? It is glaringly missing in the Goldfinger themes and i am sure on others. That harp is an exciting and beautiful touch to the wonderful GOLDFINGER theme and its absents is unfortuneatly very noticeable. Also some of the other themes can even sound muzaky if thats a word(elevator music)
It gets 3 solid stars good collection yet defineatly something is lacking.

I absolutly love this CD! I met the man himself and he gave me a copy of this CD after a show in Buckeye Lake and he Ranks up there with BB King with a sound like Clapten! The Man is on FIRE!!! I am passionate about the following songs...

I have seen Richard numerous times. Having lived near Columbus Ohio you couldn't help but know of him. His live shows will blow you away. And so will this CD. I like every song on it.

This is a great CD, cool lyrics, tight sound and excellent guitar and vocals. I particularly liked Down on the Bayou, If you haven't played the blues in Texas, and Highway 61 (that last one has some killer sax in it!) His past albums were a warm-up to this one and I'm looking forward to his next one!

There is a new buzz in the Bay Area.
The Legion Of Havvokk 2000 will launch it's first major
project early this August. Access Denied is the largest album this year so far. It is featured this month in Disc Makers magazine for eloborate art work and cutting edge material.This album features over 18 different artists, that shake the waves of the underground. This album has unlimited potential.
I strongly recommend it. The sound is awesome!

I had the chance to get this CD in a local store and was suprised to see it here on amazon.com. The CD it self has 34 bangin tracks that make you move. my favorite is # 9 "I ride" I first heard it in local club here in the Bay. The club was poppin and then when this song came.... it was off the hook!
