Oh My God! No They Didn't!.......2004-06-07
This CD is AWFUL, SIMPLY HORRIBLE. When I listened to this CD, I thought I was at a cheap Karaoke Bar and I started Boooing to my Stereo! I started to laugh! The nerve of them calling themselves The Supremes! They have cheapened the Supremes legacy and have made them a laughing stock! Lynda Lawrence and Sherri Payne have no right to call themselves Supremes! It was bad, there was no soulfulness on any of the tracks and that sure wasn't a live band they were singing too! I have the exact same Instrumental of "Someday We'll Be Together" in my Karaoke collection! How funny is that!
Zero stars wasn't an option.......2004-04-07
Between the canned production, gaudy costumes and cheap graphics that these 3 and their handlers have employed, they have (despite having great voices) cheapened the legacy that was The Supremes in ways that Diana's & Mary's bickering haven't managed to do. Whatever legalities entitle them to perform and release re-hashed Karoake-quality covers as "The Supremes" do not excuse the lack of class and diplomacy that would have kept something like this from ever happening. Even their "other" group name, "Former Ladies of The Supremes," doesn't fully apply, since Poole is not a former Supreme. Lynda's vocals appear on one Motown-released Supremes album & additional single ("Bad Weather"). She has probably contributed far more vocally to Stevie Wonder's recordings as a former member of his backup group, "Wonderlove" (yes, that's her wailing on Stevie's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered") than her official time as a Supreme (1.5 years).
If collections like "Simply Supreme" are to be credited with keeping The Supremes' legacy alive, I'd rather see it put to a dignified rest.
SIMPLY SUPREME? SIMPLY WANNA-BE A SUPREME IS MORE LIKE IT.......2003-09-14
PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS CD SIMPLY SUPREME,IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SIMPLY SUPREME,GET THE REAL THING WITH DIANA ROSS,MARY WILSON AND FLORENCE BALLARD AND FORGET THIS KNOCK OFF!WHEN I GOT THIS CD, I PLAYED IT IN MY CAR AND THEN THREW IT OUT THE WINDOW.YES IT'S THAT BAD! THESE SUPREME WANNA-BE'S EVEN HAS A CD WITH DIANA,MARY AND FLORENCE ON THE COVER AND ANOTHER WITH JEAN TERRELL AND MARY WILSON AND CINDY BIRDSONG ON A COVER. THEY HAVE TO MISLEAD BUYERS TO BUY THEIR CDS. IN MY OPINION SHERRI PAYNE AND LYNDA LAURENCE HAS NO RIGHT CALLING THEMSELVES SUPREMES,UNLESS THEIR STANDING NEXT TO MARY WILSON,WHO GAVE THEM THEIR BIG BREAK TO BE A SUPREME!!!!!!!!!!
SHOCKING.......2003-06-12
Dont bother with this one..go get the original recordings...i have just placed this where it belongs, how these people dare to use the name The Supremes is way beyond me
SIMPLY SUPREME?.......2003-01-11
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE THESE GIRLS GET THE COURGAGE TO CALL THEMSELVS "THE SUPREMES". I GAVE IT ONE STAR BECAUSE I HAD TO

Customer Reviews:
NOTHING SUPREME ABOUT THIS RECORDING.......2004-11-18
Bad production, lousy cover and insult to the real Supremes who have by the way offically disbanded. Go get the original recordings and save your money.
Why Bother?.......2003-12-04
This is yet another re-compilation of the bad pseudo-Supremes recordings done by two former members and two never were members. While the vocals are passable, this cd would never have been released if not to cannibalize the Supremes name. Stick a real Motown recording if you want the Supremes - that's where the REAL SUPREMES CAN BE FOUND - ON MOTOWN!
wrong info.......2001-09-21
you state diana ross and the supremes in fact nothing to do with diana ross
Hits Re-Made for the 90's are "Supreme!".......1999-12-08
Although the magic of The Supremes of the 1960's can never truly be recaptured, it is exciting to hear some of the old "standards" redone by three talented ladies, two of whom appeared in The Supremes in the 1970's. The twenety tunes on this CD, billed as by The Former Ladies of the Supremes, contain not only the big hits ("You Can't Hurry Love," "Stoned Love," "Love Child," "Baby Love," etc.) but other familiar tunes such as Flack's "Feel Like Making Love," Franklin's "Natural Woman," and "Feelin' Alright." But the true standouts are some newer tunes done with powerful vocal performances by Scherrie Payne and Lynda Laurence, both of whom have powerhouse voices and deliver a song with style ("The Colours of Love" and "First Time on a Ferris Wheel"). A duet with Edwin Starr is another gem! The artwork, presentation, and style of this CD are well-worth the investment. After all, it's no longer the 60's!
Simply not the truth.......1999-11-04
This CD is a bad remake of classic Supremes songs done by a fractured group of two ex-Supremes replacements and one "never was": Freddi Poole (who was never under contract to Motown as a Supreme and never sang with any of the original members), Lynda Laurence (who bolted from the group after only one year [1972-1973]), and Scherrie Payne who in 1974 replaced Jean Terrell (who had replaced Diana Ross in 1970). How they were able to record under the name "The Supremes" remains a mystery to me.
Nearly every song is a new recording of familiar titles to Supremes fans, such as "My World Is Empty Without You," "Stoned Love," "Stop! In The Name Of Love," "Nathan Jones," etc. In addition, there are a few songs here that this group sings in their act such as "How Do You Keep The Music Playing" and "A Natural Woman." Taken at face value, the vocal performances are fair. Taken at Supremes value, this CD simply does not measure up. It's too long, too boring, and simply not worth the time or money unless you are a rabid collector of all things Supreme; no matter how many degrees of separation.
