About the Artist
Soul Folk grew up in San Francisco and Oakland, Califonia, finding it difficult to "blend in" at times. "I was always listenin' to soul music but I grew up with folk and rock as well. Kids in Oakland would laugh if they heard U2 or the Police playin' in the house, and the white kids would tease me at school for bumpin' Prince or hip-hop".

During high school, he started to perform in different bands ranging from funk to ska to hip-hop opening for groups like Primus, Fishbone, the Ohio Players and Souls of Mischief. In 1991 he scored a gold record named "Hold You Tight" while writing for Giant/WB Records artist Tara Kemp in SF and LA, which created many revelations about the business of music, it's leaps and its pitfalls. This prompted him to write the song "Searchin for Silver" which also features Tara on guest vocals. " Tara has been a true friend and has always recognized the spirit of r&b, soul and jazz music
