About the Artist
Often underestimated, never duplicated, Naturalaw-dp, Black Picasso & DJ Stylus form the audio assault vehicle known as POEM-CEES. The 2003 model features boomin' beats, plush lyricism and a 300 horsepower turbocharged band, all finely tuned for your high performance listening pleasure. Come take a test ride in the future of Washington, DC "U St. Hip Hop" before this model is released to frenzied masses around the globe (manufac. warning: airbags/lungs may cause injury to small children in front row...)

Product Description
Audiences on both sides of the ocean await the Winter 2003 release of "Paranoia", which continues the POEM-CEES tradition of pushing the boundaries of contemporary hip-hop music. Conceived prior to the 9/11 tragedies, "Paranoia" avoids clichés yet remains amazingly prescient by focusing on the various manifestations of paranoia in our lives. A mild case is represented by "SIWBY (commitment)", a casual conversation on cold feet in a relationship, while the extreme instance is hilariously represented by "Fat White Men In Suits". "Glasses" is a cautionary tale for those who stumble through life like Mr. Magoo, and "Keloid Suite" and "Jay" are chilling examples of a parent's worst nightmare. All in all, the entire "Paranoia" project runs the gamut of emotions, ultimately standing as the rarest of the rare: a well-executed, non-self indulgent concept record that may be digested in segments or as a whole… (translation: it's a very, very good cd).

Paranoia,Poem-Cees,Blacklustre Entertainment,2 charismatic poem-cees and a dj, framed by hip-hop beats and a live band, making smart & conceptual hip hop/spoken word albums that walk with kings without losing the common touch...

Description

A viewing of the exceptionally thought-provoking series, 'Paranoia Agent' will beg the disturbing question, "Is 'Lil' Slugger' in you?" If not, then perhaps it'll be the stream of dark instrumental music from the "Paranoia Agent Original Soundtrack" that will sink into your subconscious. Composer Susumu Hirasawa takes listeners on a schizophrenic journey to unbelievably simple, yet beautifully strange compositions, relentlessly shifting with the hum of electronic whirring, breathless beats and infectious chanting spliced in. From the opening vocal song, "Dream Island Obsessional Park" to the eerie ending, "White Hill - Maromi's Theme," nothing on this 19-track CD is ordinary music. The soundtrack from "Paranoia Agent," the critically acclaimed TV thriller available on DVD from Geneon Entertainment, features music composed by Susumu Hirasawa (Berzerk, Millenium Actress, Detonator Orgun) a full-color insert booklet with song lyrics and composer profile translated in English, as well as romanized lyrics.

4 out of 5 stars Great show, great cd........2005-08-27

If your a fan of the show get this disc. If not it's pretty cool anyway. Get it for the songs you don't here that much on the show, like Condition Boy, Escape, and Grandfatherly Wind. Dream Island Obsessional Park is the shows opening theme and probably the best song, If you like it you'll definitely like Grandfatherly Wind.

4 out of 5 stars You know you want it........2005-08-18

If you're reading this, you probably want to own the title track for Paranoia Agent so you might as well buy this CD. The title track is, of course, absolutely fantastic -- and about twice as long as what you've heard by watching the show.

That said, I would classify much of the rest of the CD as "retro electronica" or "ambient". Many of the tracks make great backgrounds for the show but aren't that interesting to listen to for the sake of listening to. Others, such as "Hero" and "Confrontational Paranoia" are excellent but sound as if they were made from 1980's era synthesizers -- strings and horns that are obviously electronic in origin. It actually reminds me a lot of old computer game music. This is in contrast to modern electronic/synth groups like VNV Nation where pains have been made to make sure that their horns and strings, while synth in origin, sound authentic.

Anyway, it's all kind of moot. If only track 1 had been on this CD, I would have still bought it and loved it, so there you go. Buy it for track 1 and get a bunch of other music you might like to varying degrees at no extra charge.

5 out of 5 stars Other Worldly Beauty.......2005-05-31

The songs of Parnoia Agent are visual, bringing images to mind as you hear music that sounds if it comes from another world; some of songs have a haunting quality. Hirasawa's background singing adds to the unique soundtrack. I also loved Susumu Hirasawa's music on the Millenium Actress soundtrack and especially the song "Lotus". It gave me such a inner rush and stirring.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!!!!.......2007-04-08

I think Orgy has always been a pretty good band. They have had some very good songs. Although in all honesty they were not perfect. Orgy's 2 previous albums (candya**, and Vapor Transmission) were about 50% good and about 50% bad. I honestly thought both the previous Orgy cds were good, but take away some of the filler tracks and they would be better. Then comes this. At first when I saw it only had 9 tracks I was worried. 9 tracks did not sound like a whole lot, especially considering that their last CDs were half good and half bad. I got this Cd just a few days ago and I have to say I'm very impressed. These are some of Orgy's best songs ever!!!! I honestly am glad they only put 9 good tracks on this and did not put lots of filler, like they have before. This CD is a must buy!!!! It is very catchy and fun!!!! My personal favorite songs on this are Vague (my all time favorite Orgy song), and Pure (probably my 2nd or 3rd). Buy this album if you have ever liked Orgy at all. This is their best yet!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Orgy returns to their original style.......2006-04-22

Punk Statik Paranoia may possibly be Orgy's best album yet. I was very disappointed when they went with a more guitar centric style on Vapor Transmission, but with this album they bring back the synth rock I loved. There's only 9 tracks on it, but there's some damn good songs on here. If you liked Candyass, but weren't so much for VT, then there's a good chance you'll love PSP ;)

1 out of 5 stars Third time is not a charm.......2006-03-15

I thoroughly enjoyed Orgy's first two albums Candy Ass and Vapor Transmission but what the hell is this. Did they even think that they would possibly get noticed by the mainstream? Nu Metal already died for the most part. What better way to drive your fans away than to give up and lose your originality. Good job guys for giving us a prime example of sucking up and selling out. Lets hope your fourth attempt, if there is one, will possibly bring back some credit you once had.

4 out of 5 stars Addle Do.......2006-03-09

i have been a huge fan of orgy since i was just a wee lad watching Blue Monday on TRL. If you're a die hard orgy fan, and appreciate good music, you'll like this album, i know i did. Of course it's not like the other Orgy albums, but who wants to hear an album that sounds just like a previous one? This is a good album there laddie

3 out of 5 stars They should have changed their name...because this is no 'Orgy' CD.......2006-03-07

So it's dissed by fans of the bands first two albums becasue this is far from the type of band they were. The thing is that if this album where released by any other band it wouldn't be dissed as much, because it's not that awful, it's just not Orgy. It's way too mainstream nu-metal to be concidered as an Orgy album. "BEAUTIFUL DISGRACE" is actually a pretty decent song, heavy and straighforward, a little to rappy on the first verse, kinda like some of the tracks of Disturbed's first album. "VAGUE" was the single that no one heard becasue it's not like this album got any radio play. It's not bad, but they lost any respect with the "clock goes tick-tock tick-tock" so sorry guys, I had to skip through...even though the chorus is pretty kick@$$. "ASHAMED" is the best song here. The opening sounds like a remastered track off Coal Chambers first album, gritty and dark yet with better production, and then it turns into something that you could have heard off of 'Vaper Transmission'...still doesn't touch anything off of 'Candy@$$'. "LEAVE ME OUT" could have easily been the best song here...the chorus is catchy and pretty cool, but Jay's 'Adema-like' rapping is annoying. I like the beat and the feel of "INSIDE MY HEAD" and Jay's vocals are probably the best here on this track than any other on the album. "PURE" is decent, way to catchy and melodic, way to 'rock and roll' to ever be mistaken for Orgy, but I like the song for what it is. It's a pretty good 'rock' song. "CAN'T TAKE THIS", the closer, starts off dreadfully with some computer voice repeating "can't take this no more"...it's almost like the band said "oh crap, we're a techno-glam-rock band, we need to add some computers for at least one track here" and so they did. It's not terrible...I like the verse, but it's not great and thus serves as a lukewarm ending to a very up in the air album. First of all theres only 9 tracks, so in that case you have to bring it to every track...like Staind did on their debut. Every track was perfect. Here, while some are good, there really are none that stand out as great. The other problem is that Orgy had a fan base, a base that loved them for what they did best and with this album they lost most of their fans, but because of poor advertising they didn't gain any new fans either. Like I said, if this album were released by another band it may have been well recieved, but coming from Orgy, it just doesn't stack up.

5 out of 5 stars Great 80s hardcore band.......2003-02-27

This is a great 80s hardcore band. I love this cd. 26 songs is pretty good. most of the songs are relatively short. Too bad i never got to see them live. If you like Agnostic Front you would like this band.

5 out of 5 stars 80's hardcore.......2000-09-13

I was heavily into the punk scene in the 80's. No, not 7 Seconds, Sex Pistols, or Descendants. I have always been into the most extreme heavy music no matter if it's punk or death metal. I'm talking Agnostic Front, Mob 47, old DRI, Blood Feast, Negative Approach, Youth of Today, Napalm Death, etc. I still remember the hoopla created when this record came out. Saw them at the Farm in Frisco many times. As violent in concert as you'd expect. This is a must for all true hardcore fans. By the way Amazon, how about ordering a couple more of these cd's so more of us can enjoy? What's up? Turn it up!

5 out of 5 stars Hey, I have the tape and American Paranoia on vinyl.......1999-03-24

This was one of my favorite live bands from the 80s and I'm glad to see that some great stuff like this is being reissued in CD format.

5 out of 5 stars Attitude Adjustment? A MUST!.......1998-12-17

This is a MUST for any Attitude Adjustment fan. It includes all sixteen original tracks from the "American Paranoia" released on Pusmort vinyl in 1986, AND ten bonus tracks from the 1985 "Dead Serious" tape. The quality of the ten bonus tracks are quite exceptional for what was originally a taped recording. The sound quality is great all around!

4 out of 5 stars JR Ewing.......2004-05-06

When I first heard this I thought to myself, well yeah it does sound a little like refused. But I would even go further back than that and would compare them to the dynamic soud of maximillian colby. The bass riffs are very similar sounding giving the whole package that sort of sonic/core sound if you will. I hate catergorizing but this is the best way that I can describe JR Ewing's "Ride paranoia". A must buy for fans of early hardcore i.e. swing kid's, angel hair, and shotmaker. I would also add the fact that this album is a vey nice change of pace from the more popular hardcore bands out there today. Again a must buy...you'll be humming the songs all day they're that catchy!

4 out of 5 stars Rocks.......2004-03-29

It's not super-hardcore, but it's definately not the typical emo dribble that has given punk such a bad name. The band shows strong roots in the early punk of the 80's but still has a hard drive in the drumming and screaming. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for thrashing, edgy music without the usual whining about how much life sucks.

5 out of 5 stars saving hardcore.......2003-03-05

At first listen everyone is going to say "wow, this sounds like the refused".
It really does sound similar to the refused. Jr Ewing is even from norway, a country very close to the refused country sweden. The REFUSED were a great band and this is really a great record. They really just expand on that rock and roll influenced hardcore. Their are other bands that Jr Ewing has elements of besides the refused. I can hear a little Drive Like Jehu and a lot of my bloody valentine. The drumming and bass are driving and thunderous and the guitars are thrashy and yet in some parts they are dreamy (this is where i hear the my bloody valentine influence) and the vocals are a perfect blend of screaming and singing (not really singing like that lame mall emo stuff like thursday, more like wimpy out of breath talking). funny lyrics too "stop cutting the hair and start living for a change" This was released last year in Europe so I say it makes one of my top ten of 2002.
If you wish there was another refused record or can't wait to get the new blood brothers buy this.

The New York Rel-X have one of the most outstanding lineups since Becky Bondage joined VICE SQUAD and The Avengers opened for the Sex Pistols at Winterland in the 1970's. The production on this release is so top notch; that you can not find audio quality like this caliber on most recordings post 1989. This is a definitive punk LP representing New York's (and New Jersey) massive and sometimes overwhelming punk arsenal. New York City's premier Marty Munsch has done it for so many bands; I own almost every LP he has dedicated his involvement to; he really knows how to draw the poison out of a venomous animal. A must have for anyone who is serious about punk. He is Pushing the Grammy Awards this time this time and should be at least nominated for one. No wonder they call this guy the "Phil Spector of Punk-Rock".

No wonder they call this guy the "Phil Spector of Punk-Rock".

5 out of 5 stars very very good.......2003-02-24

this doesnt sound like the avengers (and its not better). it sounds like vice squad, and its really REALLY good. her vocals are kind of devotchkas/vice squad-ish, and fans of those band will probably like this.

5 out of 5 stars Best CD in the last 10 years of punk........2002-08-02

By far the best punk CD in the last decade. Sounds like the Avengers but better.

4 out of 5 stars one of the greatest forgotten bands.......2005-04-08

i remember the days of going to a creatures concert ( also known as CoH). those days are long past and i still love to hear the mind blasting noise that will inspire you in such a bizarre way. other bands that were forgoten in the past were gauge, juror 13, and system failure. just becuase they were only in the omaha, ne area, does not make them crap. listen to it and enjoy.
