Product Description
"One of the finest tribute records ever amassed! Let this serve as a blueprint for all future tribute sets" John D. Luerssen (All Music Guide) High School Reunion is an outstanding 20-song compilation featuring indie-rockers Frank Black (PIXIES), Matthew Sweet, John P. Strohm (Blake Babies/Lemonheads), Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses, 50 Foot Wave), Lori McKenna, The Caulfield Sisters, The Dresden Dolls and so many more covering tracks from some of those hilarious 80's teen films. Pretty in Pink, Valley Girl, Some Kind of Wonderful, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything... they're all being tributed on this excellent CD. Highly recommended for any music fan!
Customer Reviews:
The Commons RULE.......2007-01-09
The best track on this CD was the one my The Commons a local band in Trenton, NJ. For the most part, the rest of the CD was really good, but some remakes should never have been made.
The best compilation I ever bought!!!.......2006-12-12
WOW! That's all I can say. This is by far the best compilation I ever bought and I've bought dozens and dozens over the years. I actually learned about this from the New York Times review. I immediately purchased it on iTunes. I loved it so much I had to have an actual CD too. Glad I did because the CD has great liner notes.
The music is fantastic. Lori McKenna's version of In Your Eyes is outstanding, Matthew Sweet does a dead-on cover of American Girl, Turning Japanese is so much fun as is Weird Science. There's also some really different versions of Love My Way, and I Go Crazy which I cannot stop playing. The Dresden Dolls do a really excellent version of Pretty in Pink which kind of shocked me. I also absolutely LOVE John P. Strohm's cover of Jackson Brown's Somebody's Baby. Usually these compilations have one or two good songs. This one has 20!!!
This Christmas it has become my perfect grab bag gift & holiday stocking stuffer. I've probably purchased 9 copies so far. I cannot recommend this one enough. It's worth every penny, and makes a great gift.
Merry Christmas!
Not What I Hoped.......2006-11-10
Yes it was great to hear these songs again. The problem is some of them are hardly recognizable. The song I looked forward to most for example was "I go crazy" from Some Kind Of Wonderful, it was a horrible rendition. Some songs are OK, none of them are great. I would pass.
Cool 80's Covers.......2006-07-28
Who can argue with the fact that it's huge fun to sing cover's of 80's songs. Eighties songs are some of the most popular songs chosen at Karaoke Bars on any given night. American Laundromat Records has released "High School Reunion-A Tribute To Great 80s Films." The album features 20 great 80's classic songs covered by up and coming and underground artists for the most part. The major classic 80's teen flicks are covered in this release. Songs from the soundtrack of Valley Girl, Sixteen Candles, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club are among the films with songs on the High School Reunion Tribute CD.
Every group puts their own spin on these classic songs. Are they better, the same or worse than the original versions? That's up to the individual listeners taste. The Dipsomaniacs version of "A Million Miles Away," is similar to the original and a very good cover. The group Blank Pages offers up a somewhat slower version of The Vapors classic song "Turning Japanese." AM's version of "Don't You Forget About Me," is nothing like the original. This song has been covered so many times over the years by various artists including Billy Idol who covered the song on his Greatest Hits CD. It's really interesting to listen to how these various artists put their own spin on songs you have heard time and time again. Some of the songs are so different they are only recognizable by lyrics, especially The Modifiers cover of the Psychedelic Furs song "Love My Way."
If you like 80's music enough to listen to some covers check out the CD High School Reunion. It's really nice to hear these artists interpretations of these songs.
80's never sounded better!!!.......2006-07-20
I bought this one last month along with 4 other 80's-related CD's. I had an 80's party!!! This one was a favorite with my friends and family. High School Reunion does a great job capturing those oh-so-important moments of those quintessential 80's teens films by having cool rockers like Frank Black (Pixies), Matthew Sweet, Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses), Lori McKenna, etc. reinventing them. My favorite tracks were Lori McKenna's version of Peter Gabriel's classic "In Your Eyes", John Strohm covering Jackson Browne's "Somebody's Baby", Matthew Sweet (I love that guy - buy his new all covers record - it rocks) covering "American Girl", and The Modifiers doing "Love My Way", Kristin Hersh covering The Pixies "Wave of Mutilation", and there's so many more. Turning Japanese, Million Miles Away, Repo Man, Bring on the Dancing Horses, and the list goes on. I think there's 18 or 19 tracks in all. The 80's are back!!! Well, only for the moment I fear. x smile x

TORA! TORA! ....tora.......2005-01-09
The U.S. BOMBS, possibly THE only remaining punk band that hasn't already expended the larger part of the stores of angst, anger, and adrenaline (i.e. bands such as dinosaur greats the DEAD KENNEDYS). This album starts off strong with, arguably, the bands biggest 'hit' tora tora tora; but ,to the dismay of the drooling listener, the albums' unpredictable nature seems to fluctuate to a meerly tuneful- hummable peice (reguardless there are still the occasional geats in this lot). Fortunately this trend is cut out towards the end half of this modern classic by a couple great songs including Yer Country, and the Wig Out. In conclusion this is definately worth your pennies, your time, and even possibly some nice speakers that get blown out and a fine for disturbing 'the peace'.
Pretty damn good.......2001-08-18
When I first got this album I was expecting this to be A LOT worse. I had always been wary about modern punk bands like the U.S. Bombs who attempt to capture the sounds of classic British punk bands (i.e. the Clash and Sex Pistols). However, the Bombs actually do a really good job of it, at least on this album. Back at the Laundromat is energetic and uplifting. So overall, this is recommended but if you havn't heard the Bombs' influences first, I suggest you check them out becuase their music is a lot better.
Another Classic From the US Bombs!.......2001-04-06
I've been waiting on a new Bombs album for a awhile, and the wait was definitelworth it! Got this album in the mail, put it in the player, and knew that it was going to be another great album from one of the best punk bands around! This one is a must buy!
wow.......2001-03-30
This CD is great! Great PUNK! anyone that is like me and loves punk then buy this becasue its just great. Lunch in Sack is a cool song and i really enjoy listening to this whole CD buy it now

Product Description
Hailing from Oklahoma City, OK (home of The Flaming Lips), Wondernaut is the three-piece brainchild of Billy Gro. With a digital 8 track and a masterful understanding of songwriting, Billy spends much of his time writing and recording music. His songs are rich and layered and bring to mind Paul Westerberg, Billy Corgan, and Built to Spill. Wondernauts self-titled 5 song CD/EP sold-out in record time, and is still receiving rave reviews and spins on College Radio. His debut full-length The Youth Is Wasted builds on the foundation of the successful EP with several new songs, new mixes, and remastered versions of his college radio favorites Valerie and Gray. Recording took place in several unique locations including an old movie theatre, a store room, backyard patio, and numerous bedrooms over the course of two years. The Youth Is Wasted is a stunning debut release. Fans of Paul Westerberg, The Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., The Stones, The Beatles, Ash, Built to Spill, Smashing Pumpkins, and Radiohead will love this CD.

Product Description
TRANSISTOR is an excellent 16-song CD featuring 8 cutting edge indie-rockers each contributing 2 tracks. We chose only 8 artists out of over 150 demo submissions.
Transistor was an immediate hit with indie & college radio. Several tracks charted as high as #1, and earned critical attention.
Transistor features very rare tracks by NYC favorites; The Atomic Hep Cats, and The Lovable Rogues, as well as a whole slew of todays best indie-rockers.
The CD also includes a link to secret webpage with alternative art, and some fun bonus stuff.
With original art by Robby Macdonell and a limited pressing... this is a must have CD for any true fan of indie pop-rock!
Customer Reviews:
Indie Rock at it's best!.......2007-01-07
Now this is how I liked to be rocked. Great songs, fun bands, and excellent quality recordings. There's a nice flow to this CD which is unusual for compilations with several bands. The label owners are probably mix-tape nerds like John Cusack in High Fidelity -- and I say that as a huge compliment. The Smarties are my favorite band on this CD but The Modifiers and The Atomic Hep Cats place a very close second and third. Great job!
Genious recording, ALR is phenomenol at finding the talent the world craves.......2006-08-12
You cannot find a better collaboration of songwriters and song selection on any other colaboration. Buy this album and share it with your music loving friends. You won't be disappointed.
