If you love Electro Funk and heavy breathing this is it!.......2007-02-25

I use to dance to the Egyptian Lover back in the late 80s. His songs were catchy, easy to remember (damn he repeated himself a lot), and had the 808 thump. Heavily influenced by the Freestyle/Afrika Bambaataa/Kraftwerk sound, he added the LA funk and casanova persona with that signature breathing. Some of these songs are kinda long and get a little similar but heard as singles or in shuffle mode with other songs, they still stand out. I dig Freak-A-Holic, Sexy Style and Egypt, Egypt. The Alezyby Inn is a great title. (What a naming genius!) The Lover was the Electro mack of the 80s and this stuff is still pimp for its genre.

the best jam cd you will ever own............2005-01-15

What can I say about the egyptian lover other than he definitely is the king of old school jams. I had every album that he put out. I love my king of ectasy cd, and I challenge all these "up and comers" to try to top this TRUE giant in the industry. Only complained about this album, is that there were still a lot of awesome stuff he did that was left out... I want ya, and my beat goes boom, and what is a dj if he can't scratch, but This is definitely the best Cd to have, and he does showcase a lot of his music on this one... My favorite is no doubt " The Lover "... I used to mix this with planet rock and the crowd got hyped...

Spirit of the Grove.......2001-10-18

This albumn has all the taste and recipe for the human spirit to grove and dance. It feels good to both, my ears and my soul. The beat and rhythm of the Egyptian Lover's cuts gives a person the spirit to just feel good!

12 Inch Singles (The Best Of...).......2000-02-06

This album was released in 1989 as a best of package. There is only 8 songs, but they sound great on this CD, on the other LP's of Egyptian Lover, the songs are shorter and they don't even finish. Here, they go all the way through till the living end. This is a classic album to throw on at parties. Ok, it's 80's classic. Favorite songs are "Egypt,Egypt" and "The Lover". You must get this.

He made his own music style famous, now own his best collection of his best tracks! An absolute awesome cd every person who loved the old style techno-funk music. I love it, I swear I do.

ON THE NILE - DAT'S RIGHT!.......2007-06-02

This is early stage techno / dance / purple rain influenced / Kraftwerk sound but still E.L. is unique unto his own style. I love it, but it may be too slow for some folks - really only 3 good songs on here. But you can't download it anywhere (My House ON The Nile) so you have to buy the CD. If you have any questions about it shoot me an email. It's a must in your "Old School" library. I tried to find out what happened to E.L. but not much info after 1993...

Midway on the Nile.......2001-10-24

I have four of The Egyptian Lover CD's, this is the third. This CD is midway because it only has eight tracks, which is relatively short. Out of these eight tracks, only five are considered his best work, yet can be found with a slightly remixed tone on each of the other CD's. The Egyptian Lover "On the Nile" is true to his form and the music is boomin'.

Hosni Mubarak with Funk!.......1999-11-01

Word, this is a 'Rab that rocks, baybee. By far the best CD in my collection, E.L. rocks the house, whether you be Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, whatevee, the Egyptian Lover caters to all grooves, funks, tastes, and rhymes. Funkadelic not awful, like Pita on Falafel! Buy this CD, word to the Sahara!

An execellent album.......1998-11-09

I am an Avid fan of the egyptian lover. This album is probably hs best work to date. The classic single "egypt, egypt" is well known and "you're so fine" delivers an energy like no other, and I still play his releases today in my nightclub. The crowd goes absolutly wild. I strongly recommend this album to anyone who like s the old school west coast music.

We used to love Egyptian Lover jams back in the early 80s here in Los Angeles. Everybody would be jammin to these songs at the house parties, dances, clubs, breakdance jams, I mean you just cannot deny this. You need to get a ticket and get on the train.

This is the Egyptian lover at his finest, every track is a classic with no fillers. If you only ever buy one of his albums this is the one. I bought it on vinyl in 1985 and still listen to my CD version now.

I am 15 years old and I jam skate. This CD is awesome all of the songs are up beat and we are able to make moves to anything that is on that CD. Egypt, Egypt would definatly have to be my favorite.

Almost a Five.......2001-10-24

This is his best CD yet! It has a continuous mix of all his greatest hits with new flavors added in. The only reason it is not a five is because it too closely resembles his Greatest Hits CD. The music continues to be bumpin' and I plan to use it at my next party because the hypnotic rhythm is nonstop. It is quite obvious from listening to this CD that The Egyptian Lover is adjusting to the signs of the times. I foresee that the Egyptian Lover's music will last as long as the pyramids!

ive just been dumping my old school stuff to mini disc and decided to go on the web to see if i could get ELs stuff on the web...i didnt realise he had so many albums! ..but oh no..hes style deteriates from the 1984 albums...this one is not good at all..

Not up to the usual standard of his albums. He tries unsuccessfully to update his style to break beats but never really gets to grips with it. "Me" is the track that shines through and would be instantly recognisable as Egyptian Lover.

If you call yourself an Egyptian Lover fan, then you better have Uncle Jams Army under your belt! This was when Greg was at his best! I remember dancing all night long at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California, along with my friend Pete, who was a friend of his. This was when partying was safe, and we closed the place DOWN!

He turned the place out! Listening to the CD don't do justice. You have to hear him LIVE! If you missed Uncle Jams Army in the 80's, then you certainly missed the real Egypt.

He's back, but is this the Egyptian Lover we all knew?.......1999-08-12

Egyptian Lover needs to go back to his roots. While it is better than "get into it", it still lacks the sounds of the Egyptian Lover I once knew and loved. Some tracks like "world of girls" and "Gotta Have Ya" are reminiscent of the sound that I am talking about, otherwise the album has a hip-hop sound rather than a techno-funk sound Egyptian Lover first made so popular. I miss this artist, it has been years since another release has come out. I wonder if he will come out with another album? If so, he needs to go back to his old style and rock the house!
