fantastic, a must have.......2006-11-10
i been with kim wilde ever since she started, this girl is great, and she is sooooo cute too, :) a collections of hits you cannot put down and also contains the smash hit single "in my life". i think the song "in my life" is a new direction for her. we need more like that, it's a postive message. yayyy, in my life, everything is feeling good, in my life, feeling like you know it should.
One of the best compilations ever!.......2006-10-31
Kim Wilde was definitely one of the best artists of the 80's and 90's. Most of the music today is just unbearable or annoying, which is why I only listen to CDs in my car, most of which are 80's and early 90's CDs. And this collection of Kim Wilde's songs span from her early career to her late career and in chronological order so you can hear the evolution of her voice as it matures and changes, but each song is amazing to hear. You have to listen to these songs in your car or on a system with some bass as it definitely makes the songs sound even more incredible. This compilation is defeinitely worth getting. I was a fan of her "You Keep Me Hanging On", and always wondered what her other songs were like, and then one day I bought the CD and listened to the entire CD in my car and fell in love with the entire CD, except for 2 songs at the end, but the 15 other songs are all worthy hits.
Mainstream pop was once good?! *gasps*.......2006-03-12
Yeah, I said it. This is mainstream pop. It is good.
This CD really comes to show how much the music industry has deteriorated in the past two decades. Why are talentless camera-hogs like Britney and Jessica constantly getting airplay in lieu of Kim Wilde, I ask? I could think endlessly, for hours, trying to find an answer to this puzzling question, but still probably couldn't. It's an enigma.
Anyways, I had never actually heard of Wilde until a few years ago - and I discovered her music in two different places. The first was through the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, in which "Kids in America" became a standout favorite of mine, and the second was a cover of "You Keep Me Hangin' On" by the Norwegian band Theatre of Tragedy. I found both songs to be incredibly addictive, so I decided I would try to look for a CD of hers, which brought me here.
The Singles Collection includes 17 excellent pop tracks (or a combination of punk-pop, dancepop and soft ballads) from the 80s and early 90s. Beginning with the faster-paced anthems like "Kids in America" and "Chequered Love", and ending with the calmer, smoother sounds of "In My Life" and the "If I Can't Have You" cover, this compilation offers an excellent insight into the changes of Kim's character and voice over the years. Meanwhile, we have the energetic dancefloor hits "Never Trust a Stranger" and fan favorite "You Came", as well as downtuned ballads like "Child Come Away" and the overlooked "Cambodia" that make you wonder why Kim never completely broke through to the American mainstream.
In conclusion, I think any fan of 80s music should track this down. Although Madonna was the prime diva of the decade, Kim Wilde makes a nice entrance into second place. Classic stuff.
I did not receive this item.......2005-09-25
The idiots at the US Post Office gave me a tracking number and said this was delivered, but the 8 dollar per hour fools did not actually deliver it.
They send me endless email responses telling me they will look into it. They answer my phone calls and tell me the same thing.
I don't trust the USPS. Send my next package with UPS.
Laughable..........2005-08-29
Oh my God...I'm 21 years old, so I wasn't even born when this stuff came out. But I do recognise a lack of talent when I hear it! Kim Carnes has such a raspy, gurgly voice...she sounds like a sandpapered foghorn! This music just makes me laugh my @ss off every time I hear it, so I'm giving it five stars for its unintended comedic value! Lack of talent is hilarious!

Just to put it out there, but I don't know anyone who would ever confuse Yaz's "Only You" with the Platters "Only You". Why would you even put that in your review? Very strange.....
ALISON MOYET.......2007-03-13
EXCELENTE VOZ DE ESTA MUJER Y SOBRE TODO QUE HACIA MUY BUENA MANCUERNA CON SU ANTERIOR COMPAÑERO EN EL GRUPO YAZOO, PERO ESTA BUENO EL DISCO.
Oh yeah. She`s got the touch........2006-08-28
Alison Moyet singles is an extragavanza journey of 20 solid songs more or less all trough this collection . The highpoints are near in the middle of this CD, but the rest is small goodie goodies too. Track 1 The First time i ever saw your face sets the standard with Allison strong voice to carry it trough. the build up is good, and then you are right into it. Track 2 Only You is even more melodious to listen too, with some essential magic on the synthesizers spreads glory into your soul. Track 3 Nobody`s diary is a minor letdown. Ok but nothing more. Too much plink/plonk on the synth, and to little melody. Track 4 Situation has some of the same problems, but the effective rythm helps quite a lot and lift`s it above average. Track 5 Love resurrection is anyway in the high quality departement, with lesser technical wishy washy, and more effective "melody theft" from the right sources of the roots when it all began. Track 6 All Cried Out, is a "vocal screamer" from the highest rank of quality. High quality workmanship in other words. Track 7 Invisible is my all time Moyet favoruite, because she delivers. She sings here heart out on this one, and when here vocal cord strikes like lightning, it`s just heaven above. Track 8 That ole devil called love is a Billy Holliday gem, but Alison Moyet makes it here own. Puuuuuure jazzy magic. Track 9 Is this Love is also nearly up there, but it`s not extraordinary. Track 10 Weak in the precence of beauty, she`s back in the business again. Melodious and effective. Track 11 Ordinary Girls, is a fastback morè rock and roll, with a quite effective beat.
Track 12 Love Letters is the first ballad, and it`s a minor letdown. A stream of clichees. Track 13 It won`t be long is quite ok. The energy is certainly there, so too speak, but not much more, sorry to say.
Track 14 Wishing you where here, has a light country music feel over it. Ok. Track 15 This House is a quality ballad, which showes here voice quality from deep, deep, down, and up,up, there. Magic. Track 16 is the weird one folk rock inspired song which lifts youre soul. Track 17 Whispering your name is a lightweight popsong which sounds like if Cher, had a better voice. Tremendous. Track 18 Getting into somthing. Yeah, but what? A soft spoken disko hybrid. Average. Track 19 Ode to Boy II is an effective "feet steeper, but to chaotic as a whole. Track 20 Solid Wood is solid enough, but nothing more. Anyway she`s an artist that got IT, and i certainly mean "it".
Blockbuster Set.......2005-05-11
This is a great collection by one of England's best singers. Alison's reading of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" may presage her beautiful "Voice" CD released in the UK last year. "Only You" and "Love Resurrection" may sounded dated to my teenager, but they both pulse with great energy and sound as great to me as they did when they pumped out on the dancefloor in the 80s. Previously unreleased in the US before this 1995 set, "That Ole Devil Called Love" was a song Billie Holiday nailed. Alison plays with the melody and shows a great affinity for this era of song. "Weak In the Presence of Beauty" is also a classic track with Alison's fully committed vocals and great percussion. Tackling a tune that was a major hit for Elvis Presley and has been recorded by Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, Peggy Lee & Dinah Washington and then making it sound fresh is a major feat that Moyet accomplishes on her sterling version of "Love Letters." "This House" is a somber dramatic track that Moyet builds into a tragedy of a broken love affair. "Whispering Your Name" is a delightful synth track from the underrated "Essex" CD. "Singles" is a blockbuster set that love resurrects some excellent performances from one of our best singers. Bravo!
Powerful-yet-sultry voice.......2004-10-12
I am a big fan of this collection of Alison Moyet's best recordings. It was released in about 1995 and sold well in the UK, where she was a major pop star in the mid-80's. She started in the synthesizer-pop era of 1982 with the duo Yazoo along with Vince Clarke, and has a top hit with the lovely tune Only You. Yazoo's two albums in 1982-83 also yielded hits with Don't Go (unfortunately not included here), and Nobody's Diary.
Her best stuff though was from her first two solo career albums Alf (1984) and Raindancing (1986) that marked her commercial peak. I liked her strong vocals on Love Resurrection (a hit in August 1984) and the mainstream pop of Invisible (a US Top 40 hit in March 1985), while also in 1985 she showed what a good voice she has when she crooned the delightful old romantic smoothie That Old Devil Called Love. Also good was her version of the tuneful song Weak In The Presence Of Beauty (1987), originally done by Floy Joy, and the enjoyable up-tempo pop of Ordinary Girl.
Her later stuff was also pretty good, and I like the songs Solid Wood , and the minor-key lament This House. Alison Moyet remains one of the best popular vocalists, and her powerful-yet-sultry voice is highly distinctive. I hope she keeps recording in the future.
4 stars from me.

Great CD. Has the original tract from the radio music, plus other versions that enhance the song.
A song for people who still believe in romance in love.......2006-05-27
I know if you read the other reviews you would think that this group did something so wrong they must be driven from the earth, but when I hear this CD, all I can do is weep like a little boy who has lost his mommy.
Was that an uncomfortable statement? I bet coming from a grown man it is but you have to understand that I bought the CD right before being hit with a surprise divorce when I was out of the country. All divorces are though but a military divorce is very tough.
When I hear track 3 which is the least of the power driven mixes all I hear is the perfect love of a women who is confused and looking for something more but not realizing what she has and instead is listening to other people and is NOT listening to her hart and as a result is passing on her true love.
In the real world the fight is daily and life is hard and when you are fighting everyday just to live you get down on yourself and other people and shut out or deny your feelings.
When I hear this song I think about my wife when we first got married not the wife of ten years later who left me alone still loving her but not measuring up to her future potential meter that was given to her by her new friends.
DHT I think understand the grief and raw emotion that comes with a breakup and you cannot do anything but realize that a good thing is over and you have to pick yourself and start to look again for someone to spend the rest of your life with.
I think this is a good buy if you can understand the lyrics and not get wrapped around the technical/recording issues and instead focus on how it makes you feel which other men seem to miss.
Is this the same DHT ??.......2006-01-17
that does the song "White Power"? As far as I can tell, it is. Just something to think about before you buy. Any group that promotes racism, doesn't deserve my money.
BUY THIS.......2006-01-02

Review of the BARBIE GIRL SINGLE.......2006-04-20
Unlike the other reviews, which are all about how much the reviewer is obsessed with the song, this review is about the CD and the songs on it.
To start off, I find this song catchy and fun, but even a fan of aqua can (and probably will) get sick of this song after a while of repeated listenings, but that is no reason to enjoy it while you can.
Now, for the review of the actual CD-single of Barbie Girl:
This CD has four songs, with a total time of approx. 22 minutes, with the first track being the regular album version of the title song, and the other three songs are remixes of the same song.
The second track, the "extended edit" is pretty much just that, an extended version of barbie girl.
The Third song, Perky park club mix, is OK, but not as enjoyable as the original, mostly because you can't sing with it since it is just a mix of parts of the song and not nearly as perky as the title suggests.
The fourth and last track (Spikes anatomically correct mix)is mostly just a beat with some of the barbie girl tune in it and parts of the dialog from the original song. The last track is over 7 minutes long, but in my opinion, the worst song on the disc. It starts out with a stretched-out "Laaaaaaughing Plaaaaastic" that could truly give someone nightmares, and the rest of the song is not sing-a-long-able at all.
So all-in-all, while the original song is fine and dandy, and sure to be stuck in your head until the day you die, the remixes on this CD are not that memorable and most certainly not as fun as the album version. If you still want to purchase this CD-single, or if you are a completest, go ahead and get it; you might enjoy it immensely, but I was slightly disappointed.
Alvin and the Chipmunks on steroids!!.......2004-05-19
Who ever said this song is great for kids should listen to the lyrics again! Yep. "Undress me everywhere" and "you can touch, you can play" definitely signifies a dirty song rather than a great kids singalong. Also, the high pitch singing in the song gave me a seizure. If you must own this song, get some dance track with only one version of this song, rather than four.
Great Song but Kinda Stupid!.......2004-02-25
It's a great song that both children and adults can listen and enjoy but it is kind of stupid. If you think about it, you'll realize why I say it can be listed to by adults as well.
Fantastic-its made of plastic!.......2003-07-19
This is a really [silly] song, but its soooo awesome! I love it! The lyrics are pretty original; great for kids! Here are the lyrics to the song Barbie Girl.........
Hi Barbie - Hi Ken -
You wanna go for a ride -
Sure Ken - Jump In!
I'm a Barbie girl - in a Barbie world -
life in plastic - it's fantastic.
You can brush my hair - undress me everywhere.
Imagination - life is your creation.
Come on Barbie, let's go party!
I'm a Barbie girl - in a Barbie world -
life in plastic - it's fantastic.
You can brush my hair - undress me everywhere.
Imagination - life is your creation.
I'm a blond bimbo girl in a fantasy world,
Dress me up - make it tight - I'm your dolly.
You are my doll - "rock and roll" -
feel the glamour in pink
Kiss me here, touch me there - hanky panky.
You can touch - you can play -
if you say - I'm always yours
I'm a Barbie girl - in a Barbie world -
life in plastic - it's fantastic.
You can brush my hair - undress me everywhere.
Imagination - life is your creation.
Come on Barbie - let's go party!
(Repeated 4 times)
Make me walk - make me talk -
do whatever you please,
I can act like a star - I can beg on my knees.
Come jump in - bimbo friend -
let us do it again,
Hit the town - fool around - let's go party
You can touch - you can play -
if you say - I'm always yours
You can touch - you can play -
if you say - I'm always yours
Come on Barbie - let's go party!
(Repeated 4 times)
Chorus
Come on Barbie - let's go party!
(Repeated 4 times)
Oh I'm having so much fun - well Barbie we're just getting started.
Oh I love you Ken.
GET THIS CD! ITS AWESOME!!
Aqua Lover.......2000-08-21
When i first heard the album version i thought it was cute and funny. Then i happened to find the mixes to it and i really enjoyed both sets of singles that i found. I did'nt even see the video until i bought the first single which had it on it. Even the video is cool Lene covers just about all the different types of barbie dolls that were out when the video was made! If you have'nt heard it yet by all means find the singles and buy them you won't be disappointed!

Electric dance that keeps you moving.......2001-09-08
It's not possible to play this CD and remain still.
A favorite of D.J's and the clubs around the country. If you
love dance and dance music, this album is a must have.
The lyrics are fresh and the bass is heavy throughout.
Guaranteed to put a smile on your face :)
Unlike Anything You'll Hear This Year!.......2001-08-07
This is a great disco song! It has a nice beat and is danceable. There are 5 tracks on this CD.
Track 1: "Don't Call Me Baby (Original Mix 7")" (3:47) This version is the shortest one on the CD. It has a disco feel to it.
Track 2: "Don't Call Me Baby (12" Mix)" (7:48) This is a longer version of track one. It still has its original disco feel to it.
Track 3: "Don't Call Me Baby (Dub)" (7:39) This has everthing track 2 and 1 does, except it's a dub. This starts out kinda quiet, but then gets louder to its original beat.
Track 4: "Don't Call Me Baby (Alexander Purkart Meets The Plastic Park Remix)" (7:24) This is a bit slower, but keeps its original disco feel.
Track 5: "Don't Call Me Baby (The Dronez Old School Vocal Mix)" (6:35) This mix is a little on the darker side and its a bit slower. This track still has its disco beat.
I was kinda disappointed with this single 'cos most of the mixes sound a bit the same, but buy because it's a great song!
Hot Dance Track.......2001-06-11
Great club hit and radio friendly. If you like this track, check out tracks from ATC, Serena Paris and Alice Deejay.
One awesome song! But the remixes dissapoints........2001-06-07
I loved the song and searched for it and bought it immediately. Extremely danceable. But this single has, for me, just one good mix-the original! The rest are ok for djs but kinda boring and repetitious. Still that one song is worth it. I would rate this single 4 1/2 stars if I could.
This song plays constantly.......2000-11-18
I love this song. It's plays constantly on 89.5 up here in Seattle. Everyone up here loves it. Noc omplaints yet!

perfect mood music for anything.......2004-03-26
I love, love, love this song and this CD....this is definitely one of those singles you can put on and listen to all the way through, without getting sick of the song. The remixes are really nice, flow well, and aren't gratuitious (i.e., there's no super-edgy remix just for the sake of having one - all of the remixes complement the basic quality of the original).
If you like the more downtempo side of the Mushroom Jazz series, this song is Mushroom Jazz at its best. Listening to this CD evenmakes washing the dishes seem groovy.
It's 6 years after the single was released, and it still sounds current.
a classic!.......2002-02-08
Just a classic that must be in your collection. Including the original 12" mix & the delicious deep zone mix.
Blueboy "remember me"ÿ.......2000-01-14
I first heard this song in Melbourne Australia back in early 1997.I really liked and wanted to buy it. It made me want sing along to it and dance. It is jazzy, funky and housey all at the same time. I then didn't get the chance to hear this song and similar songs because I now live in place that doesn't have good radio stations and I don't get the chance to hear techno house or alternative music. I have to do a lot of research to find good music. But this song is fun and the singer's voice is quite evocative and jazzy.

Best RuPaul Song EVER!.......2005-09-03
This is by far the BEST RuPaul song ever made, produced and recoreded. It's beautiful, easy to dance to, Hi NRG and great vocals. Ru did it again!!!! :-)
Vicki Sue Robinson in a guest appearance!, .......2005-04-15
I never purchased this single, but I recently found out that it featured Vicki Sue Robinson. It was so nice to see her making a comeback near the end of her life with several hot club tracks...and this one is one of them. Not as campy as some Ru tracks can be, but still an uplifting dance track with some nice mixes to choose from.
Love the mixes.......2004-04-14
I heard a different remix of this song and loved it so i decided to buy this cd single. I absolutley love the extended remix and the other welcome's remix. The other songs are kinda boring but after a while they grow on you. Good dance tune though. Keep it up Ru.

GREAT song, even BETTER remixes.......2006-07-06
This should have been a huge pop radio hit for Ru, but of course, it wasn't - great song/hook, amazing camp/hot video, and THE coolest electr-tech-house remix by VISSION & LORIMOR - if you don't dance to this remix, you don't have a pulse.

This Girl Knows How To Get Things Going With This Wounderfully Fab Song.
RuPaul is the BOMB.......1999-08-30
What happens when you take one of the best dance songs ever and mix it 5 times? You get the best cd single in history. That is what happened with Snapshot. This was the first RuPaul cd that I bought and I was NOT dissapointed. I am always looking for awesome dance tunes and a friend recommended this one. I am now recommending it to you. If you have this cd in, you won't be able to sit down. It is a non-stop mini dance party. Get up, and show what you've got!!!

Album Description
An album full of quirky but accessible, mature but playful compositions. The band's "silly noises" married to the sultry vocals and clear-sighted lyrics produce recordings of shimmering originality and nascent charm.
Customer Reviews:
Hi!.......2007-03-27
There's something very cute and fun in Psapp's electropop. A good example would be "Hi," one of the songs from their latest "The Only Thing I Ever Wanted," which is paired on this single with four B-sides. The title song is the most charming, but the others are still cute and charming little tunes.
It opens with clattering, creaking, and a door opening... until a series of catchy little plinky notes start to play, with water splashing behind them. "Hel-lo/Get out the abacus and count... this/A funny story with a dark twist/The target so big that you can't miss ... me," Galia Durant sings in an odd staccato rhythm, over electronic noodling and "toytronic" notes.
It follows up with the rather bland "On Site," a plinky little guitar tune with a bit of electronic sound on the edges, but they fare better in the shimmery, sputtery ballad "Apple Block" and the sparkly robotic "Side Dish." The EP rounds off with the rather low-key piano of "Lucas Tooth," which noodles to nowhere in particular.
It's not hard to see why some of these are only B-sides -- two of the songs just never go anywhere, though the two middle ones would have fit nicely as minor tracks on the album. But the other three -- including "Hi" -- are charming and multifaceted pop, whether experimental or just cute and catchy.
Their "toytronic" style uses a lot of toy instruments -- high plinky piano and guitar, and a bit of flute as well. The duller musical moments are usually made up of these only, but the really enchanting part of Psapp is the electronica -- sharp, elusive, sparkling and unpredictable, often with an experimental edge.
Galia Durant has a very pretty voice, a bit like Beth Gibbons on ice. And the songs she sings are deliciously unique, singing of abaci, round glasses, and how she will "never make a decent soldier/maybe when I'm older/I'll never make a butcher/baker teacher trainer..."
"Hi" is a cute little single. It's also a good introduction to this electro-experimental band's sound, if you don't mind some of the barer B-sides.
