Beautiful stuff--mainly mid- to late doo-wop by bands and individuals trying hard to break in, and fail. But the tracks by Jesse Belvin, The Charades, and the mysterious Coupons could have and should have been heard everywhere. Driving home on HWY 81 late at night, listening to this stuff unexpectedly on the radio, I felt I was attending a primitive Church of R&B. You can also hear where Frank Zappa heard some of his first epiphanies.
