Bursting with the airtight harmonies, feet-sweeping melodies, and scrub-free swagger the foursome from Philly's come to be known for, Boyz II Men aren't taking any chances with Full Circle, their sixth studio album (and their first on Antonio "L.A." Reid's Arista label). Full Circle's got everything we expect from the guys: the perfect falling-in-love ballad (the Babyface penned and produced "Color of Love"); the heartrending break-up ballad ("Oh Well," penned alongside mega producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis); the kickback midtempo ballad ( "Relax Your Mind," featuring Faith Evans); and the obligatory uptempo, let's-get-the-party-started number ("Ain't a Thang Wrong"), which is unfortunate, since it's the only track that breaks up the album's candlelit flow. Still, a genuine ardor seeps through the tracks, and Reid's meticulous production makes this outing a far stronger and more satisfying effort than the Boyz' last album, 2000's Nathan, Michael, Shawn, and Wanya. --Sylvia W. Guest-star projects can be such tiresome affairs. Too often, the high-profile "friend" is nothing more than the record label's idea of someone they can feature on the front cover to generate additional sales. Additionally, these performances are frequently overdubbed, so the artist and the guest never actually come in contact with each other. Thankfully, neither is the case on Walter Trout's first studio album of new material since 2001's Go the Distance. Not only has the hotshot guitarist worked and maintained friendships with these players, but they convened in the same studio at the same time to nail these tunes. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of Trout's friends are guitarists who--like him--prefer to charge through songs with the intensity of a salmon swimming upstream. Joe Bonamassa, Bernard Allison, Guitar Shorty, Jeff Healey, Junior Watson, and Coco Montoya all share guitar-duel duties, and while the results aren't exactly subtle, there's enough explosive firepower here to level a small building. Even an acoustic session with Eric Sardinas--a neighbor of Trout's--attacks like an unplugged Rory Gallagher on a hot Belfast night. John Mayall (keyboards/vocals), James Harman (harp), Finis Tasby (vocals), Deacon Jones (Hammond B3 organ), and Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward also bring their game faces, and sometimes songs, contributing to various tracks with energy and intensity. Trout plays with his usual all-stops-out bluster, but there is an obvious affection for his guests on every track, which both energizes and spurs him on to new heights on what is arguably his best and most diverse effort yet. --Hal Horowitz
Album Description
With the release of FULL CIRCLE, Walter Trout has realized a long held dream - to invite musician friends from his 35+ year career together to compose and play together. His first new studio release in five years, FULL CIRCLE reflects Walter Trout's remarkable story, from his humble beginnings as a sideman in many a blues legends' band through his rising solo star, arriving as one of blues music's beloved interpreters.
The project is a full circle in time and place, a journey through the range of styles that represent the blues music genre - a celebration of where the blues world is, where it has been and where it's going.
Among the 25 musicians appearing are John Mayall, Coco Montoya, Bernard Allison, Jeff Healey, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Sardinas, Guitar Shorty, Finis Tasby, Junior Watson, James Harman and Deacon Jones.
FULL CIRCLE is the most accomplished and satisfying release of Walter Trout's discography, and demonstrates his passion for music is just as great today as it was when he started playing as a teenager more than 35 years ago. He considers the new album a tribute to the people and the times that have helped shape his musical appreciation, demonstrating how the many styles within the blues genre can co-exist and mutually enhance each other without fight for rank or authenticity.

NOT EXACTLY WALTER TROUT!.......2007-06-29
This CD is for Walter Trout fans who want all his stuff, even if he is joined by other artists. If you are expecting that nice raw heavy blues that is Walter's trademark, you will be in for a big letdown. He is so much better than his guests! His singing--and even his speed guitar playing--saves this offering from the garbage heap. WORKING OVERTIME, with Jeff Healey, and CLOUDS ON THE HORIZON, with Joe Bonamassa, are standouts: Trout's kind of material. WHEN WILL IT EVER CHANGE, WRAPPED AROUND YOUR FINGER, and CAN'T HELP FALLING APART sound good to me. Some bad points: Eric Sardinas, who's great with his Johnny Winter style, is wasted on a boring acoustic cut. The last track is a DJ taking, with some backgroung music. You see what I mean. We are the ones who have to pay for these throw away selections! The audio is very good. Buy it to complete your Trout collection. If you're new to Walter's music, get GO THE DISTANCE, it may be his best effort.
I Have Waited So Long...........2007-06-09
for two things concerning this CD #1 At last Walter Trout has shown what those who have seen him live already knew, yes he is a blues guitarist but he can rock with the best of them and here we at last see his wonderful range #2 a blues rock album that is just that both the best of blues and sizzling, crackling rock. I have rarely after 35 yrs of adult listening felt so completely satisfied after a hearing a cover-to-last cut banquet. The players you can tell by the listening are having a very good time with each other and the music. The back-up folks are simply the best there are out there for this music. The best addition to the main players I felt was the velvet steel train power and riding platform layed down by Richie Hayward, lifetime Little Feat drummer and in my opinion the best rock/blues (and the all inclusive Little Feat sound) drummer alive today. I remember Lowell George use to tell him to slow down or play softer he didn't then and does not now. The cuts that he plays on are the best ones and his drumming on the Trout/Bonamassa (shades of Hendrix) is worthy of the Rock Drummers Medal of Honor. Walter Trout was always a brilliant guitarist and there are always creamy sweet master blues cuts on all his releases but finally he has given us a top to bottom, 1st cut to last, put it all on the HardDrive immediately, lifelong go to when you want to Bop CD, and I humbly thank him and the best gang of blues players gathered together because they wanted to be. A Masterpiece that resides comfortably in the #1 spot of my Blues/Rock collection.
Full Circle.......2007-05-12
Greatly surprised! Would recommend this cd to any blues fan. Walter Trout must be in anyone's blues collection.
Very, very good release.......2007-05-07
Hot licks by Walter, and I love the guest appearances by Guitar Shorty and Coco Montoya.
Great CD.......2007-03-12

Product Description
A trio of noted Australian musicians--Iva Davies, Richard Tognetti and Christopher Gordon--composed the film's score. They previously collaborated on "The Ghost of Time," a piece commissioned for the Millennium celebrations in Sydney, which came to the attention of Peter Weir. The director was so impressed, he played the piece on the Master And Commander set throughout production, and he asked its creators to write the music for his movie. The score interweaves "Old World" and "New World" music, reflecting the talents and backgrounds of its composers. Iva Davies hails from both pop and classical traditions; Richard Tognetti, one of the world's great violin virtuosos, taught Russell Crowe the ins and outs of the instrument; and film/television composer Christopher Gordon brought orchestral texture to the project. Given the period, it comes as no surprise that the score is infused with source music from Bach (Cello Suite) and Mozart, among other great classical composers. Percussion dominates portions of the score. "Drums signal the forward movement of the ship," says Davies, "that it's on a mission. It brings you back into the action." The score's biggest surprise comes with its use of synthesizers. "Peter doesn't make films in the expected way," says Davies, "and for that reason we wanted the score to be not what everyone expected. Peter wanted some scenes to have what I call a kind of 'futuristic' sense"--conveying the idea that these 19th century sailors were cutting-edge explorers.

Marvelous.......2007-02-12
A marvelous collection of compositions which greatly enhanced this fantastic film. This CD is marvelous on its own. It did not leave my CD player for weeks.
Pretty Good.......2006-12-14
I purchased this soundtrack because I really enjoyed this music while watching the movie. But I was a little disappointed at the CD. Some soundtracks allow you to follow the entire plot like through the music (such as the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack). But this CD doesn't provide that. Several of the songs are recurring in the film but are only played once in the soundtrack. I would have liked the soundtrack to reflect the music for the whole film rather than just excerpts.
I give the music 5 stars and the CD 2-1/2 stars.
the music .......2006-11-10
The music is excellent . Flows well Better than the movie score
Good incidental music but not great listening music - except the classical pieces.......2006-11-09
The soundtrack for Master and Commander contains two distinct types of music. First there is the incidental music for the film. These pieces are heavy on the bass side of the orchestra and are often emphasized with bass drums and tympani. This music is very effective and appropriate for the scenes in the film, and I commend the composers for making a soundtrack that so seemlessly and effortlessly invokes the moods and excitement of the visuals. Unfortunately, these pieces are quite moody and slow moving - great as incidental music but not so interesting to listen to as straight orchestral music.
The second type of music is much more enjoyable to listen to. Those that have seen the film know there are several scenes in which people are playing music - for example, Aubrey and Maturin in the captain's cabin performing a cello-violin duet, or the sailors on deck playing sea shanties on tin whistles. The pieces chosen for the film range from Bach to traditional folk music, and are a welcome addition to the soundtrack. The performances are very good (including a cello solo by Yo Yo Ma), and the recording quality is excellent. Deserving special mention is the Boccherini piece (La Musica Notturna Delle Strada di Madrid), which serves as a second unofficial theme song for the movie. The piece itself is presented in its entirety, and there is a callback to the piece in the incidental music as well, which is a welcome ray of levity in an otherwise oppressive piece.
People purchasing this disc run the real risk of being disappointed - the incidental music works so well in the context of the film that you are likely to think (as I did) that the music is itself worth listening to alone. Unfortunately, I don't find this is the case, but the classical music that is included makes this a soundtrack worth having, especially for the Boccherini piece.
Great classical music accompanies bland original score.......2006-09-27
The original music to this film is dull, repetitive, and only offers the hint of good music at certain points during it's lengthy tracks. But what about all the good music you heard in the film? That was all classical music, which was used in the film incredibly well. There are three tracks in particular that save this album. The piece by Corelli is used as something the captain and doctor play together. It is one of the most beautiful pieces of baroque music of which I am aware. A second piece, Vaughn Williams "Fantasia" is the piece heard when the crewmen have to cut the line that might save their friend who fell overboard. It's a tragic scene and accompanied perfectly by the heart-breakingly glorious piece. The original piece of music is quite a bit longer than the version on the CD, but the original version also tends to drag a little in places. All the best parts are on the version of the piece in the film. The third classical piece from the album that saves it is the cello solo by Bach that plays as a theme for the galapagos islands. This solo is performed perfectly by Yo Yo Ma. These tracks make the album worth purchasing. If you already have them, avoid the album because the rest is not very enjoyable. If you wonder about this one, watch the film and listen for the music. It speaks well for itself in the film.

Wonderful.......2007-05-14
Once again David Benoit delivers an outstanding performance. Having listened to David Benoit for over 20 years, I am constantly amazed at his versatility and virtuoisity on the piano. He surrounds himself with excellent musicians and plays in a style that is reminiscent of his early works. He is the king of the smooth jazz piano.
Elegant and fizzy........2007-03-10
I first heard David Benoit being played on Jazz FM a few years ago and I liked his style immediately.
David Benoit is back to where he started and where he belongs , at last.
After leaving the smooth jazz dock for a few years and giving audiences some terrific music from his heart, the David Benoit we all know has returned and in a big way.
He has gone back to his roots and brought back his signature sound and writing.
There are nine original tracks, one remake, and not a bad one in the bunch! The CD features such notables as Rick Braun, Andy Suzuki, Paul Jackson, Jr., Euge Groove, Nathan East, Jeff Lorber, Alex Al, Brian Bromberg Luis Conte, Alex Acuna and Oscar Castro-Neves.
David Benoit certainly sets the mood on the first kicking track "CAFE' RIO". The beat is fast with a samba sound. David's piano sound is crisp, funky and fun. You can hear the joy in his fingers on this track, and the gentle vocals that scat along with that samba beat add flavor and depth. Hearing it played live recently was even better.
On this beautiful, passionate and aptly titled album, every track is good with his distinctive style being stamped on each track. The rhythm section is also excellent.
It's a relaxed, yet quality Smooth Jazz that sounds not unlike Bob James' "Joyride".
It is produced by Paul Brown, Jeff Lorber and Jeffrey Weber.
The Bob James feel is most apparent on cuts like the Latin tinged "Café Rio"and the 80's Jazz Funk like "Beat Street".
The bossa nova classic by Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Agua De Beber" is given en exquisite reworking.
Other great cuts are " First Day Of School" and "6 P.M".
This is Benoit's finest album to date.
I will be purchasing more of his previous CD's/recordings.
You will love this elegant, sparkling, fizzy album.
Enjoy.
David Benoit's New Release.......2007-01-12
I have been listing to David Benoit for a long time, and Full Circle is one of is best contemporary jazz CD'S that he has ever done.
I enjoyed all of the ten songs on the CD.
David Benoit has really come Full Circle.
Mediocre for Benoit.......2006-10-24
I have been a DB fan for a while but simply found nothing new in his latest effort. The beginning is basically the same as "Fuzzy Logic" and "Right Here, Right Now", and the whole CD's format is just too predictable and less jazzy than before. He's probably trying to be a bit Brizilian but just not quite there...
Not impressive at all!
Why so short?.......2006-09-12
I keep buying David benoit CDs, no matter whether the previous one was good or less good. To me this one is (only) as good as the previous one, however the musicians featured here are some of the best ones of today. You hear the familiar tones of BB's bass etc. What I can not understand is why a composer of this caliber comes out with a 40 minute short CD. This is truly disappointing. He could deliver any length of music from his vast repertoire. May be next time.

ook so what if morrison didnt have anything to do with these albums people think the doors have no talent without him not true with out ray john or robbie there woyukd be no jim this album is pretty good u get to here ray alot more who sounds a lot like jim i have other voices on vinyl and its amazing i also have this cd ok so it is only for the die hard fans but dont just turn it down becayse mr morrison is not on eaither of theses albums
Amazing.......2007-06-06
Great albums for their time and truly amazing that The Doors could produce two quality albums without legendery Jim Morrision who died a year prior. Robby & Ray can sing. WOW. MY doors collection is complete.
Even If It's Not The Original, It's Still Good.......2006-10-06
I wonder if the negative reviews here reflect the actual music, or just the band name. In other words, I wonder if this CD would've gotten more positive comments if The Doors' name hadn't been attached to it.
This music is great, and I admire the fact that Ray, Robby and John continued without Jim. After all, just because your lead singer dies doesn't mean that you have to stop living. And besides, I like a lot of what I hear on this CD. "In The Eye Of The Sun" and "Variety Is The Spice Of Life" are my favorites. Is this the same Doors who created "Light My Fire"? No. But can the other three still perform well? Yes.
On a similar note, The Who have just recorded a new album. They are missing some of their band members too. But Pete and Roger continue to tour, and they still sound incredible.
In conclusion, I recommend trying to take this album for what it is. No it is not the same, but it's good. Don't let Jim's absence drag you down, just look at this album as three guys playing great music.
Just for the curious...........2006-08-07
While I'm glad that these two albums have been released as a 2 for 1 CD, I'm not really recommending them for anyone but die-hard Doors fans. I've had both of these on vinyl for years. I find Other Voices almost completely unlistenable and think that Full Circle has three very good songs on it.
The main problem here is the vocals, handled by Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. What were they thinking? Neither of them can sing, especially Manzarek, who actually has a good voice, but tries too hard to sound like a Soul man and a boogie-woogie rock-n-roll man. His vocals are embarassing, and this is even more sad given how well he could sing the Jim Morrison Doors' songs. Guitarist Robby Krieger isn't much better, though I certainly can tolerate his thin, nasally voice much more than Manzarek's deep baritone voice. At least I don't feel like turning the music off when Krieger sings. Still, Manzarek and Kreiger should not have thought that they could replace Morrison as singer. It was silly!! It would have been like Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler taking over lead vocal duties after Ozzy left Black Sabbath.
I have tried to listen to Other Voices, but have been so unimpressed as what little I heard, that I didn't bother to go back and give it another listen. It would have been too painful.
Full Circle, however, has about three very good songs on it. The Mosquito starts off kind of humorous (intentionally humorous, I may add) with Krieger singing in Spaniash (or Mexican, I can't tell the difference) about a very annoying mosquito that is making it tough for him to enjoy his burrito. Most of the song is filled with some very exciting jamming between Krieger, Manzarek and Densmore. Densmore in particular sounds more awake and excited on this track than on any other tune on both albums. Densmore helped write the next track, The Piano Bird, which is a very laid back, jazzy tune and one of my favorite songs here. Not very Doors-like, but good nonetheless. I can even tolerate Ray's singing on it! It Slipped My Mind is another very good song...it's catchy, has a good, bluesy guitar riff to it and musically would not have sounded out of place on L.A. Woman. Other than these three songs and some exciting musical passages here and there on the first half of Full Circle, the rest of this is pretty lousy. I don't think that Jim Morrison was the Doors or vice-versa, but The Doors were certainly MUCH MUCH better with him and more focused musically. And Morrison wasn't just a singer (and a poet), he was also a presence, something that Manzarek and Krieger definitely are not. And some of the song titles...Jim Morrison never would have let The Doors title one of their songs ' I'm Horny, I'm Stoned '!
For curious Doors fans only and not for the faint of heart...
Riders IN A Storm.......2006-07-02
I had these originals when they were released on vinyl & got the twofer years ago from a Russian bloke I know. I only recommend this twofer for hardcore collectors, Other then that it is just music by a band without their lead singer. Visit my mini site by searching msn for "Judemac Forever".

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that I wanted more songs! Whispers in the Wind harkens back to the tormented soul of The Innocent Age or Captured Angel. While, some of the tracks resemble some of the more upbeat, hopeful songs Fogelberg's recent albums. A great collection!
We love you Dan but..........2006-10-21
maybe it's time to put away the computers, synthesizers and drum machines...
This is a good album but it could have been a GREAT album.
Your soul is in this music but it is lost somewhere in the perfect timekeeping of the machines.
Give Russ and the boys a call - and bring it back to life again man. Please?
Oh, and, I got my prostate checked. Thanks.
Welcome back Dan ! .......2005-10-12
Even though "Full Circle" is from 2003...I only knew it existed as of a week ago....so to me...this is a brand new Dan Fogelberg album....and what a FINE piece of work it is ! Most of this album...though not as good...takes me back to "Netherlands"..."Phoenix"..."The Innocent Age"...and "The Wild Places"...Dan's best albums in my opinion !
My standout cuts are the beautiful instrumental "Half Moon Bay"
which is reminds me of "Aurora Nova" from "The Wild Places". I also love "Whispers In The Wind"...."This Heart"...."Reach Haven Postcard"..."Drawing Pictures"....and "Icarus Ascending" . Those are the best...but there isn't a bad song on the album ! Longtime Dan fans will love this...trust me...and I'm so glad I found it ! Dan Fogelberg made a big return with "First Christmas Morning"....and "Full Circle" is an awesome follow up...let's hope there's more to come !
A true artist.......2005-10-06
I have to be honest with the readers and say the first time I listened to this CD I just didn't "get it". I wanted to give Dan a few more chances and listened to it a few more times. By the 4th time I "got it". The reviewers that have written in with negative things to say need to give this CD a chance. I must say this is the best CD in my Dan collection. With any artist, it's the songs that "grab" you later that are the best. The guitar work is incredible, even down to the soul of it with the fret squeeks. Very raw and worth the wait to let it capture you. Dan is the most underated artist of our time, and much loved.

Even if you've followed the Hiero's decade-plus career, it sometimes helps to have a scorecard to parse out each member. On their latest family album, Full Circle, it's Pep Love who puts in the best work--his flow bobbing and weaving with a boxer's grace. In contrast to Casual's thunderous presence, Pep strikes like lightning and the two complement each other well on the thoughtful "Make Your Move." Souls' member Opio also stands out, especially on "Heatish" where he sprints off with outrageous lines like, "they know my skills/fire swept through your dialect/like the Oakland Hills." No song on Full Circle seems to offer the same crew combinations twice and the Hiero's longevity manifests in their enviable chemistry with one another. Though the disc offers few new surprises it still packs in a satisfying, 16-track serving of Hiero's quick-witted, quick-spitted lyricism and funk-fried beats. --Oliver Wang

This Group Came Full Circle!!! (Rating: 9 out of 10- -4.5 stars).......2007-02-05
This is one of those albums that I find truly refreshing to listen to, especially when I'm on a train ride to work. Hieroglyphics' second album as a group "Full Circle" is an excellent LP follow up to their classic 1998 album "Third Eye Vision". 5 years later, they drop this album with some of the most excellent production that I've heard in a minute. Also with this album, ALL members lyrical skills have improved to another level.
I think the person who stood out the most on this album was Pep Love while Opio comes in a close second. He amazed me on the second track "Fantasy Island". As one of the spotlight reviewers said, most of the lesser known members get a chance to make an impact while popular artists like Del Tha Funkee Homosapien doesn't so often (not saying hes wack or anything, but he just not all over this album). I believe that disapointed a lot of fans not hearing him as much as they wanted to, but shouldn't knock this album because of that. There are many dope cuts here to listen to, like "Powers That Be", "Halo", and "Maggie May". "7 Sixes" is the final track that ends on a good note as each member spits 6 lines (Del is amazing, beginning every word with the letter "V" of all letter in his verse. How unique is that?), making it another stand out.
What really make me like this album is that I hear that the Hiero Crew sounding like they are doing what they love. Making good quality music, and pleasing their fans. Especially during shows, where you can hear some recording of them on this album. Even the Souls Of Mischief drop a song about getting ready to do a show, on the song "Chicago" about pleasing their fan base on that song. To me, that is how you do it.
There are some low points here though. Some of the tracks like "Shift Shape" suffer from an awkward hook. "Jingle Jangle" is another song that falls into that category. Some of the group's energy is unbalanced throughout portions of the album, but a listener might not notice it. Other than that this is one album that can be appreciated to be an addition to your hip hop collection.
Hieroglyphics are doing their own thing now. No longer signed to Jive and Elektra, the have the power to do anything they want, with out no higher up label execs giving them the red light. If you are new to Hieroglyphics, I recommend that you buy "Third Eye Vision" or maybe some of the members solo albums, before you listen to this. That way, you can hear how improved this group is and how they are in control of their own destiny. This ain't your average rap group people.

intelligent hip hop at its ultra finest.......2006-07-25
There are a butt load of emcees and crews littering the world with their rhymes and swagger, but therer are only a few that really shine, and then again only a select few that provide and deliver true intelligent and witty and tight lyrics. Heiroglyphics is one of those few that provide expert lyricism and witty lyrics to the masses while stayin underground and true to themselves. The heiro crew is huge and I won't go into naming every member, but I do highly recommend this album to everyone. Especially heads into intelligent and tight lyrics. Qirky medaphors and smart wordplay asassinate over tight beats and production. A few of the choruses on the album are forgettable, but this is a must own. Much, much better than 3rd eye vision. Featuring some of the most abled emcees in the biz, Heiro is a crew that is in the top ten of hip hop. Every track is worth listening to and each member spits lyrics with precision and dead aim, lyrics that will have you reciting them over and over.
One of the best from the Hiero Crew.......2006-03-18
When I first bought this CD back in '03 I was thinking to myself that this could not be a good Lp because everything that comes out these days (hiphop/rap wise) sux! But I took a chance and I picked it up, and I was not dissapointed at all. This CD will keep your head bobing up and down throughout. These guys really know how to make music. After hearing this CD I have become a very big hiero fan and probably will continue to be for a long time. This CD really is great and deserves alot more attention then it actually got. Third eye vision is also good, but if I have to compare them I would say this Lp is better. Halo is my favorite track, I love the beat on this track. All of the tracks are good in their own way. Worst track is jingle jangle. Kinda pointless and boring. Whenever I listen to this CD now it reminds me of the summer of '03 when I graduated high school and first bought this CD, which brings back good memories. This CD will always be in my top 20 of all time, and I don't say that about many Lps.
One of the best CD's of all time.......2006-01-20
Hieroglyphics, A group of rappers all hailing from West Coast Cali, in Oaktown. This Cd is the ish. All 8 rappers stand out on this Cd and make a name for themselves busting out weed smokin rhymes. This is one of my favorite CD's of all time. Even Dan the automater steps in and delivers some pure punchlines. If i Could i would give this CD a 10/5 cuz this will be bumpin in my truck for awhile.
Top Trax:
#3 Powers that be, #5 Shift Shape,#6 Classic, #8 Heatish, #13 Maggie May

--Sylvia W. Kind of by the numbers but still a decent album.......2007-01-04
With the 2002 release of Full Circle, Boyz II Men decided to go to guartneed hitmaker "Babyface" for the first single The Color Of Love. Ironically The Color Of Love was orignally given to Sam Salter for his unreleased sophmore CD,Little Black Book and Sam sang it a bit better than the boys from Philly. However Full Circle does have a nice moments to it including Whatcha Need, Luv N U and the excllent yet heartbreaking Oh Well. Oh Well was written by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and even though this song would have sounded great on New Edition's One Love CD, Boyz II Men handle this song with sheer class.
FULL CIRCLE, INDEED.......2004-06-20
Wow! I can't believe I took so long to listen to this album. Early into its release, I heard negative stuff about it because I didn't care much for their previous release, I avoided this one until now...two years later. This album is AWESOME and really is a full circle back to the day when Boyz II Men became my favorite group. I love this compilation of songs and their harmony is as tight as ever here and the songs compliment their voices. In the days when it seems to take very little singing talent to get an music contract, Boyz II Men prove once again that their silky smooth voices rides FULL CIRCLES around the rest of the "boy band" competition! I LOVE YOU, SHAWN! (just had to throw that in) :-)
All time greats.......2004-06-20
Boyz II Men is the best R&B group in history. They have won nearly every award and accolade there is to win, broken numerous music records and brought real talent and beautiful harmonies back to R&B and pop music, totally overshadowing, from a talent standpoint, all the other boy bands and groups of their time.
Boyz II Men has creativity that rival Prince and Michael, and vocal maturity matched only by Gospel greats Commissioned and Take 6.
I used to be a rap fanatic and thought music was for sissies and girls. That is, until Boyz II Men came along and helped me not only discover my voice for music. Now, instead of rapping and hearing girls say, "shut up", now I'm singing and hearing them say, "Oooh, do that again!" Music truly is a manly art when done correctly, as Boyz II Men has proven.
The only weakness of Boyz II Men is their marketing. Some of the best songs never make it to the radio or to video. The American public is partially to blame for turning their backs on Boyz II Men, instead listening to lesser groups who's names I won't mention (please, you know who you are). That's not to say these groups aren't talented - they are - but they're no Boyz II Men by far. Sorry, you're not.
And what is up with the way Americans view this group? I think we were so blown away by their lush harmonies and skillful voices over smooth tracks and slow tempos with great lyrics that we expect them to only sing slow songs. I'm so tired of hearing people say their fast songs aren't good or they're played out. Are you serious? This is a group of skilled men who've perfected their art. If they were martial artists with this same level of greatness, Bruce Lee would not be the best ever, he'd be 2nd to Boyz II Men.
Boyz II Men spends most of their time in asian countries because their largest fan base is there. Why? Wake up, America! This is and always has been a fantastic group, better than any other groups R&B has to offer and they deserve to be paid attention to and recognized as the best there is.
Be it slow, mid to fast tempo, or acappella, Boyz II Men writes and sings some of the best songs ever written. Slow songs like IT'S SO HARD TO SAY GOODBYE, UHH AHH, 50 CANDLES, YESTERDAY, DREAMS, MAKIN' LOVE DO YOU REMEMBER, DOIN' JUST FINE, OH WELL, I DO, LUV N U and I'LL SHOW YOU, they are unmatched in their level of skill. Mid and fast tempo songs such as MOTOWNPHILLY, ON BENDED KNEE, JEZEBEL, THANK YOU, TO THE LIMIT, HUMAN II, WHAT THE DEAL, COME ON, BABY C'MON, ROLL WIT ME, I'M OKAY, YOU'RE OKAY, ON THE ROAD AGAIN and I FINALLY KNOW...no one else in the music business has the depth, variety and maturity that Boyz II Men has. And this isn't even close to half the list of great songs they have!
The only song I haven't really cared much for from Boyz II Men is I CAN'T LET HER GO, produced by Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs. Mixing Puff with Boyz II Men, for this song, anyway, is like mixing dirty water with clean water. All you end up with is dirty water! The song wasn't terrible, but it's my least favorite from this group; it could've been better.
In this album, Boyz II Men has created the perfect blend of upbeat dance songs and songs with a more hardcore vibe with some of the best harmonies and ballads to date. Songs like AIN'T A THANG WRONG, WHATCHA NEED, ROLL WIT ME, ON THE ROAD AGAIN, and I'M OKAY, YOU'RE OKAY, light up the album with the hard baselines, great arrangements, and solid lyrics. All this, coupled with COLOR OF LOVE, an anthem of a hope for peace to the world, in a classic Boyz II Men style, and songs like MAKIN' LOVE, THAT'S WHY I LOVE YOU, LUV N U. And my personal favorite, due to its rich harmonies and deep meaning, I'LL SHOW YOU. I feel that this is their best work ever and, as the previous album title EVOLUTION suggests, they'll only get better, even with the exit of Michael "Bass" McCary from the group. Yes, sadly enough, it's true...
One more thing: Boyz II Men, as individuals and as a group, need to become better marketers. Just before the release of the FULL CIRCLE album, the group appeared on TV (BET) and Shawn Stockman called it "a pretty good album". I dropped my head in shame. Michael McCary then called it, "the best album we've ever made". Shawn Stockman's reply was: "...Okay", as if he didn't believe it was, which means he felt like he settled for less than the best. I could've punched a hole in the TV set. SELL THE ALBUM! YOU CAN'T DO THAT IF YOU SOUND LESS THAN TOTALLY HAPPY AND ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT IT! People will pick up on that and you'll lose record sales because of it! Why would anybody buy your album if even you don't like it?
Regardless, after reviewing this album for myself, I've come to the conclusion that this is a great work of art and I will buy every Boyz II Men album that comes out. This is how I feel about Boyz II Men:
"...I bought 2 copies, cuz other than that, all y'all other dudes is sloppy!"
-Jin (Learn Chinese), Rough Ryders, freestyle in the booth with Big Tigger on BET.
Be on the lookout for the upcoming album from Boyz II Men entitled THROWBACK, in stores August 24, 2004!
The end of the road.......2004-03-21
Boyz II Men - Full Circle (Arista, 2002)
Boyz II Men's Arista debut, Full Circle, proves just how fickle and forgetful the average R&B fan can be. A great return to form for the guys, there are great songs aplenty like "Oh Well", "That's Why I Love You" (both produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis) and "The Color of Love" (produced by Babyface). But the music world shifted by then; even fans of their previous album, the unfocused Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya, ignored this project and went to see what newer jacks like Dru Hill and B2K were up to. Plus, without proper promotion by executive producer LA Reid, the album flopped and the Boyz became another legendary act on Arista that became old-hat that year, along with Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, and TLC (the lack of promotion for all four acts would lead to Reid's dismissal). Now the only way Boyz II Men can stay relevant in today's Beyoncé/Alicia Keys/Ludacris urban world is if someone releases another greatest-hits compilation on them. But they're still legends in my book. -EJR
Get This One.......2003-12-24
Another solid effort by Boyz II Men. I'd rank this one right behind "II" and right before "Cooleyhighharmony." "Oh Well" is such a beautiful ballad, it tugs at my heart strings. "Luv N U" and "That's Why I Love You" are nice slow jams, as well. "Howz About It", "Ain't A Thang Wrong" and "Roll Wit Me" are nice head-bobbers. This CD is a nice mix of ballads and up-tempo tracks.

not xzibits best cd... he needs to put out a greastest hits! then his cd will hit it big. his previous 2 cds were good. weapons of mass destruction and man vs. machine.
Pretty Good.......2007-01-09
I also purchased ludacris ~ release therapy at the same time and would have to give the new X the advantage. Good all around, you know what you are getting with X and he holds true to it.
Xzibit, the Man.......2007-01-06
(An awesome CD and lyrically he hits real life issues. His last track "Thank You" is a beautiful song to all his fans and is very heartfelt. "Family Values" is a great piece to uplift women and he even hit some controversy of his exgirl that went with Usher and tried to plant a baby on both of them on "Scandalous B******". He even tries to uplift blacks and hispanics on the song "Black & Brown" where he's urging them to avoid prison {hopefully people will listen more and bob their heads less}. There's a slight Christian value in a few of his music, but he definately is street. An overall excellent CD and has awesome replay value.)
You Take the Good You Take the Bad and There You Have... Full Circle.......2006-12-18
I have a certain admiration for Xzibit, because I believe he is one of the most talented rappers alive. However, his talent seems to come and go, almost as if he just can't find the inspiration sometimes. Some of my favorite rap songs are from Xzibit, such as Man Vs. Machine's "Heart of Man," but I wouldn't consider any of his CDs to be on my favorites list, because although they often come with some killer tracks, they also tend to come with a lot of "meh" tracks as well.
Full Circle is a perfect example of this. Of this entire CD, I only really enjoyed about three tracks. The rest were okay, but nothing I would listen to several times over. With that in mind though, I think Concentrate, Family Values, and Thank You alone make this purchase worthwhile, it's just disappointing to see so much bland, uninspired tracks, such as Scandalous Bitches and Say It To My Face, coming from an artist who I feel could go far above that.
I'm afraid Xzibit is at risk of falling into obscurity. His CDs have become lower in quality over the past few years, even if it has been a rather slow descent. If Xzibit keeps making CDs like "Full Circle" and "Weapons of Mass Destruction," I'm afraid it won't be long before he falls off the rap radar. Right now hes just a blip, and needs another big hit like "Restless" if he wants to stay in the rap game.
Xzibit - Full Circle.......2006-12-13
Rapper and Pimp My Ride host Xzibit's (AKA Alvin Nathaniel Joiner IV) sixth album is "Full Circle" (2006). Guest appearances on this fourteen track release come from Jelly Roll, Kurupt, Don Blaze, The Game, Daz Dillinger, T-Pain, DJ Quik, King T and Too Short. Highlights of this album for me include my favourite track - the closer "Thank You", a cut where Xzibit thanks his fans and talks about his progression, backed by a impressive beat. On "Scandalous B******" X tells a personal story while relating to others, "Family Values" is another strong cut worth listening to. The albums first single "Concentrate" has Xzibit teaming up with T-Pain and fellow West Coast Rappers Daz Dillinger and The Game. I agree that production on this release could be better. Xzibits rhyming is generally on point though. "Full Circle" is a decent release worth checking out.
