Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Not as strong as Vol.4 but still good.......2006-12-11

It'd be hard to top Vol 4, but Smooth Grooves: A Sensual Collection, Vol. 5 still has it's moments. The strongest moments on the CD come from Earth, Wind & Fire [Devotion Live],I Do Love by GQ and Shirley Murdock's Go On Without You. Surpisingly two of the strongest ballads on the CD, Love Don't Love Nobody by The Spinners & Wish That You Were Mine by The Manhattans are about heartache. Love Don't Love Nobody seems to be the theme song for anyone with a broken heart. Kim Waters & Jazz from Dru did a very cover a few years ago. While Wish That You Were Mine by The Manhattans could be a sequel to the group's huge hit Kiss And Say Goodbye. Wish That You Were Mine Gerald Alston delivers one of his patented gem vocals to a slow groove and swooning harmonies. It has a "Me and Mrs. Jones" storyline: Lovers meeting at an out-of-the-way restaurant, gazing lovingly in each other's eyes, deeply in love, but both signed, sealed, and delivered to another. If you're not touched by Alston's "I gotta get up at eight/don't cha know I go to explain why I'm so late/I wish I didn't have to go home/Whoa, go home," or his gut-wrenching emoting on the fade, then, as ex-Cleveland, OH, DJ Ken "Your Friend" Hawkins use to say, "you got a hole in your soul."

4 out of 5 stars This Is Good Ya'll.......2000-06-28

Back to the classic's. "Devotion" live, "Feel the Fire", "When You Touch Me", "You And Me", "I Do Love You", all bom-bay. Smooth Grooves has don it again. It's a must have if you serious about your oldies.
