The BBC's veteran time-traveling sci-fi hero returns via a smart 21st-century update, one whose adventurous plot lines and super-charged visuals inspired this equally ambitious musical score anthology (covering seasons one and two, as well as two extended specials) by Murray Gold. The composer's sinewy, synth-charged update of Ron Grainer's original '60s series theme is a study in spooky dramatics that's also treated to a more expansive, album-closing arrangement, while "Westminster Bridge" and "Slitheen" revel in muscular evocations of spy music past that recall Michael Giacchino's similar tongue-in-cheek romps for The Incredibles. From there, Gold's music steadily expands in scale and scope, often achieving big-screen dimensions via the cinematic sweep of "Boom Town Suite"/"I'm Coming to Get You," the minimalist-tinged rhythms of "Clockwork Tardis," or the overt piano-and-orchestra melancholy of "Rosie's Theme." Completing the saga's musical makeover are a pair of ballads sung by the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon--the effusive pop charmer "Song For Ten" and the more retro-R&B-quirky "Love Don't Roam." --Jerry McCulley

More than any children's music release this year, Justin Roberts's Way Out makes you want to buy multiple copies and pass them out to friends--if only to prove that children's music can be unaccountably great. Justin's gift for transplanting himself into the psyche of an 8-year-old lifts him head and shoulders above his goofy-voiced peers. However, simply pinning Justin's talent on songwriting alone sells him short--few others (Dan Zanes, Ralph Covert and They Might Be Giants are exceptions) rock their records as hard. Way Out draws us way in, expertly mowing down musical age barriers and delivering us from the mistaken idea that kidstuff doesn't count. -Tammy La Gorce

    5 out of 5 stars Loved this!.......2007-01-09

Every time my son asks me to purchase a "new" Justin Roberts CD I find that it;s better than the last we bought! His music is not just for children, but the whole family.

5 out of 5 stars Way Out CD by Justin Roberts.......2007-01-05

I was fortunate to walk past the librarian's desk and discovered a new CD of his. I LOVED it sooo much i had to buy his others immediately. I am so tired of the typical kids songs we have always heard. He is a humorous, talented lyricist sounding similiar to my favorites - Squeeze and the Cure. I was not disappointed - i can't wait for his next CD.

5 out of 5 stars Wow! The best yet!.......2006-04-25

20 minutes after dropping my kids off at school, I'll realize that I'm still listening to Justin Roberts by myself. Truly great 'kids' music' that adults can enjoy, too.

The beat and brass on this one will get you moving.

    Love it!!

5 out of 5 stars Rescued from the Wiggles.......2006-03-16

We discovered Justin Roberts music on XM Kids radio one day, and my entire family was hooked. His lyrics are clever and surprising - and has brought my three kids (ages 5, 3, and 1) to both giggles and quiet thoughts while listening. We dance to "Airplane of Food" and "Daycamp" almost daily, and we LOVE the "Humpty Dumpty" song - it's inspired a game where the kids dream up crazy things that Humpty can see while up on the wall.

We're anxiously awaiting his new "Meltdown" CD release on March 21st, and are proud to own all of his albums. We each have our favorite songs - and the kids (and I) fight over which one to listen to next. We've graduated from the Wiggles, and are never EVER looking back!

5 out of 5 stars Great for kids and parents!.......2006-01-15

This is an upbeat, comical CD with great music for kids and parents. Parents, you'll find yourself listening to this music even when the kids aren't around! This will become your favorite kid music to play, I promise!

ringtone88.com itself. The arrangement from "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" includes not only the familiar song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" but an overview of the music--seguing almost seamlessly into Bernstein's magnificent "The Comancheros," a rare find indeed. An expensive item, but if you love Western film music, well worth it.

Director William Friedkin knows a thing or two about innovative, genre-bending film scores. He commissioned edgy modern-jazz player Don Ellis for his classic The French Connection and reworked Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" into the haunting soundtrack for the blockbuster The Exorcist. But even veteran film buffs were surprised when Friedkin turned the scoring chores for his taut 1985 forgery-ring thriller To Live and Die in LA over to British pop stars Wang Chung. Though they're still best known for their perennial rock-of-the-'80s hits "Dancehall Days," "Everybody Have Fun Tonight," and "Let's Go," Friedkin's early admiration for the band's often underrated musicality paid off with a tense, rhythmic soundscape that crystallized the era and locale of the film. And, though synth-pop has gained ill repute as a cheesy 1980s cliché, this album ably proves that it could rise above its stereotype in dramatic fashion. The Jack Hues-sung title track was also a minor pop hit. --Jerry McCulley

The critical debate over Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical legacy will no doubt rage for decades. Is he the shrewd populist composer who almost single-handedly revived the moribund stage musical--or a crass, Barnum-esque showman (who almost single-handedly revived the moribund stage musical)? This 18-track anthology chronicles the high points of Sir Andrew's enduring songcraft and the irrefutable impact it's made across a remarkably disparate swath of tastes and genres, from Broadway to Top 40 radio and even the classical repertoire.

If some have accused Lloyd Webber's songs--like "The Music of the Night" (from Phantom of the Opera) and the title tune from Whistle Down the Wind, included here--of having all the melodic and lyrical sophistication of a child Grammaire de l'objet chinois

ringtone88.com The Opera, Music Of The Night, I Don't Know How To Love Him, All I Ask Of You, No Matter What, Oh What A Circus - wonderful songs and wonderful performers. 4 out of 5 stars THE BEST OF LLOYD WEBBER MADE FOR THE AMERICAN AUDIENCES.......2005-01-31

There are numerous compilations out on the market full of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music. As most people know, Lloyd Webber is the most successful musical composer of all time and many of his songs became standards not only in the theatre history, but also as tops on the charts. Even though he's British, his influence on the shape of the modern musical theatre expanded over the West End boundaries long ago and has thus made an enormous impact on Broadway. Two of his shows ("Cats" and "The phantom of the opera") hold the record as two the longest running shows in the history of Broadway. He has also been the only composer to have three of his shows running at Broadway concurrently. This compilation captures some of the best songs he has ever written, he personally supervised it and it is the best thing to have if you can't afford his five-CD compilation called "Now and forever", which was selected and supervised by him as well. You should bear in mind, however, that there are two compilations called Gold out there: The one made for the European and the British market, and this one, made for the American buyers. Some of the songs on both of them are the same, the others are performed by different artists and some can be found only in one of the two. This one here was issued later and it is digitally remastered. Therefore you should check your favourites and buy accordingly, or, if you can, buy them both, since both of them contain interesting songs and performers.

So here are my thoughts about the tracks in this one:

      1. "Superstar" and "I don't know how to love him" are both from the concept album of "Jesus Christ Superstar". They sound wonderful as ever, although the orchestrations may seem a bit dated by now.

      2. "Sunset Boulevard" is marked here with two songs. Barbra Streisand's powerful voice shines all the way through in "As if we never said goodbye"; it's a shame she never played Norma Desmond on Broadway, since Patti LuPone wasn't allowed to take her Norma to New York, and Glenn Close butchered the role. Her limited vocal abilities were hardly suited for the material, as it is shown by the second Sunset song, "The perfect year", performed by Close and Alan Campbell. They both lack a decent singing voice, so this is the one song I skip regularly. The song itself sounds much better in its single version with pops orchestration, as can be heard on the European version of this compilation, where it is performed by Dina Carroll. This version here can hardly be considered a gold one.

      3. "The Phantom of the Opera" is represented by three songs. Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman performance in the song of the same title is amazing. They were both born to play their roles in this show and their voices fit together perfectly. Sarah can hit the high notes in the end like no other Christine. Cliff Richard and Sarah sing the lovely ballad "All I ask of you" with passion, and Cliff has a wonderful warmth in his voice. Finally, Michael Crawford gives his unique and mesmerising interpretation in "The music of the night".

      4. The 1996 movie version of "Evita" is Madonna's best role to date and it brought an Academy Award for Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, who wrote "You must love me" especially for the big screen. This is another wonderful ballad with the haunting cello and piano solo. It just proves that Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice were the best collaborators. They really should do another musical together.

      5. "The Joseph and his amazing Technicolor dreamcoat" was Webber's first musical and the signature song "Any dream will do" is performed here by Donny Osmond, who also appeared in the video version. I find his rendition even better than London's Jason Donovan, since Donny isn't strictly bound by the notes and so sings it more casually. A wonderful pop piece.

6."Memory" from "Cats" is probably the most famous of all Webber's songs, recorded by numerous artists. This version is sung by Betty Buckley, who was Broadway's Grizabella. Although Betty's performance can't be considered bad, I prefer Elaine Paige, who sung the song first, in the London production. Elaine has a note of sorrow in her at times husky voice, which I found very intriguing. Her performance can be considered definite, as heard on "Cats" DVD or in her latest two-disc compilation, "Centre stage: The very best of Elaine Paige", issued in May 2004. Still, those who prefer Ms. Buckley or who saw her on stage in this role won't be disappointed.

      7. "Pie Jesu" is the best known song from Webber's "Requiem", written in 1985 to commemorate the death of his father. I'm not too keen on the version included here, performed by Charlotte Church, because her voice isn't as pretty as Sarah Brightman's on the original recording and the tempo is somewhat faster here.

      8. "Don't cry for me Argentina" is among my all-time Lloyd Webber's favourites. I like all the ladies who performed "Evita" on the stage and on the screen (Julie Covington, Elaine Paige, Patti LuPone and Madonna), but on this disc is the version I am most satisfied with, since it is sung by Patti LuPone. Ms. LuPone has a very powerful voice with an amazing range and she deserved her Tony Award for this role. She was able to sound both vulnerable and decisive while singing this, whereas the other leading ladies emphasized one or the other in their interpretation. Mandy Patinkin's "Oh what a circus" is not the best, the orchestration is a little bit weak and his voice sounds thin to me. David Essex on the London cast recording is more suitable.

      9. "Aspects of love" boast here with its top song, "Love changes everything", performed wonderfully by Michael Ball. It was his #1 hit and is probably one of the most beautiful love anthems ever written.

      10. Three songs come from "Whistle down the wind". The studio release of the same title is one of the reasons I bought this compilation, although I already have the European one. It is performed by Sarah Brightman with Lloyd Webber playing the piano and a symphonic orchestra who nicely takes the lead of the main melody. Sarah voice is angelic; she sings it like a little bird. Very charming. Boyzone's "No matter what" was a huge pop hit in the charts. Again, we have a song with the suitable orchestrations and vocals. And lastly, Tom Jones' deep voice in combination with the back vocals of "The Sounds of Blackness" gives a rocking rendition of the church hymn "The vaults of heaven". It can't be found on the European version and Tom's voice shows it hasn't aged. Way to go.

      11. For the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Webber wrote, together with his long-time lyricist Don Black, this last song, "Amigos para siempre or Friends for life". It's a nice duet between Sarah Brightman and Jose Carreras, their voices sore when bound together. The melody itself is neat, especially when the orchestra takes the lead.

Besides the fact that some of the performers here were not the best for my taste, there is also the fact that some of Lloyd Webber's shows are omitted in this version, most notably, "Tell me on a Sunday". Also, unlike its European counterpart, this compilation isn't aligned chronologically, so we have 1970 Superstar being the first song, 1993 Sunset Blvd comes the second, followed by The Phantom from 1986 and so on. None the less, this CD is excellent as an introduction to Lloyd Webber's music and one can continue with his cast recordings from there. It's also very handy as a single disc compilation for the American fans.

5 out of 5 stars Super good CD.......2004-12-31

The songs on this CD are great. If you also play piano, the book of the same title goes perfectly with the CD. You can following along with the music and learn the songs on the piano.

      5 out of 5 stars Gold's gold........2006-03-08

Ernest Gold's early version of this (main theme) tune was always a favorite of mine and it practically became Ferrante and Tiecher's theme recording (their piano version being quite good also!). However, here, you get "variations" of the music, compliments of The Sinfonia of London Orchestra, definitely classical, definitely contemporary, definitely melodic. While the background isn't exactly silent as you would find on a DDD CD recording, it's still acceptable and maybe even adds to the ambiance of what this recording is all about and the era in which the tracks were laid. I listen to it quite often. My only fault with the CD is that it's a little shyer in length than most soundtracks -- but it is what it is. Highly reccommended!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful & moving music! Not to be missed!.......2003-08-03

I can't believe that I am the first person to review such an excellent soundtrack! What can I say except that the title track, "Theme of Exodus", is probably the most beautiful piece written for a movie and the rest of the album is not far behind. Track 10 "Conspiracy" is another interesting piece with the authentic Israeli and Arabic music. Track 12 "Dawn" is one of the most dark and foreboding film pieces that I have ever heard, it definitely more than captures the mood of the scene.

The soundtrack definitely stands on its own, infact, in some ways I found the music to be understated or at very low volume levels in the movie, which for the time period of the early 60's strikes me as unsus L'art africain contemporain

4 out of 5 stars Typical of these compilations--some gems and numerous problems all on one collection.......2007-02-28

Not to be confused with the single disc "Original 80s Remix Album" CD, this is a 3 disc set.

Okay, let's break down this title. ORIGINAL-80s-REMIX.

Original? Sometimes--a good number of these mixes are not the original remixes.

80s? Well, for the most part, any of the mixes that are not the original remixes were done in the NINETIES. So WHY have them on an `original 80s remix' compilation???

Remix? Mostly. However, there are also quite a few album versions and 7" versions on here, some of them mislabeled.

These compilations seem to be getting more desperate to cash in on collectors' desires to have rare 80s 12" remixes on CD. But instead of taking the time to research what we're really looking for and hunting down the licensing, they keep rehashing mixes used numerous times, throwing in easier to acquire bad 90s remixes, and mixing in a couple of album versions. Having said that, there are, as usual, a couple of mixes here that are making their CD debut, making this one a necessity. The sound quality is excellent as well. Here's the breakdown:

    CD1:

    1. reflex...duran duran (6:35) (the 12" version)
    2. penthouse & pavement (tommy D mix)...heaven 17 (1990s house mix)
    3. lifeline...spandau ballet (12" version)
    4. enola gay...OMD (4:08) (sash remix from the 1990s--and the vocals are resung)
    5. The Circus...Erasure (4:05) (this is the single remix from the Erasure ebx 2 boxed set)
    6. reap the wild wind...ultravox (4:45) (the 12" version)
    7. situation...yaz (5:45) (this is the album version)
    8. it's a miracle/miss me blind...culture club (9:12) (the original 12" medley)
    9. blinded me with science...thomas dolby (5:10) (the original US long version)
    10. he ain't no competition...brother beyond (5:42) (the original 12")
    11. belouis some (3:35) (um...this would be the 7", NOT the 12". And how about the 12" version of "Some People" for a change???)
    12. We Close Our Eyes...Go West (6:45) (BRILLIANT! This alternate 12" version to the "total overhang mix" is finally available on CD with the orchestral opening intact!)
    13. love missile f-11 (westbam remix short version)...sigue sigue sputnik (long or short, this remix doesn't do the original song justice--it's more like a dub)
    14. Heart of Glass...Blondie (5:50) (the absolutely easy to find original disco mix. A waste of precious disc space better used for something rare)

    CD2:

    1. keep on movin(M Beat bonus mix)...soul II soul (4:24) (EEK! A horrible breakbeat dub mix)
    2. Good Life...Inner City (7:12) (HOT. The Silk Hurley mix)
    3. hangin on a string...loose ends (5:53) (NICE. Downtempo house mix by Frankie knuckles)
    4. Showing Out...mel & kim (4:35) (short mix! What a disappointment!)
    5. in private...dusty Springfield (7:12) (the full 12")
    6. respect...adeva (8:29) (the Dancin Danny D mix)
    7. mony mony...amazulu (7:11) (interesting hi-nrg cover of the Tommy James and Billy Idol hit--but PLEASE someone put the 12" of MONTEGO BAY on CD!!!)
    8. some guys have all the luck...maxi priest (5:39) (a cover of Robert Palmer and Rod Stewart track)
    9. let's go all the way...sly fox (5:10) (The ALBUM version, not the 12", which is only 20 seconds longer, and available on the CD "Pulsating Grooves 3)
    10. hot in the city...billy idol (3:37) (original album version, not the 1988 version from the US release of Vital Idol)
    11. once in a lifetime...talking heads (5:33) (Very hot. The 1984 12" remix. Very rare and collectible.)
    12. let's stick together...bryan ferry (2:59) (Indeed it is not the original mix. Definitely remixed in 1988 as it says)
    13. it's my life...talk talk (6:20) (the 12" club mix)
    14. I just died in your arms...cutting crew (4:45) (NOT the 12". The Full length album version)

    CD3

    1. Dreaming...blondie (6:00) (an EDIT of the remix from the 1990s Blondie "Remixed Remade Remodeled CD)
    2. to cut a long story short...spandau ballet (6:03) (more like, to cut a 12" version short. Edited by about 30 seconds as it is on the CD version of Spandau Ballet: The 12" mixes)
    3. girls on film...duran duran (6:28) (remix from a 1999 remix CD single)
    4. Souvenir...OMD (4:38) (So clearly a moby remix from the late 90s when he was big with his downtempo, moody mixes)
    5. Play to Win...Heaven 17 (7:22) (original 12" mix)
    6. We Came to Dance...Ultravox (7:35) (12" mix)
    7. War Song...culture club (6:20) (This is ALWAYS mislabled as the Ultimate Dance mix, even on Culture Club releases. The Ultimate Dance Mix runs 6:50. This is the B-side to that vinyl mix, known as the Shriek mix. I have yet to see the actual Ultimate Dance mix on CD)
    8. Icing on the Cake...Stephen Duffy (7:08) (worth the price of admission! First time I'm aware of the full 12" actually being on CD!!!)
    9. don't stop the dance...bryan ferry (5:46) (the 12" mix)
    10. back to life...soul II soul (6:33) (I didn't even know this mix existed. It's quite good. Downtempo, not a house mix)
    11. heart and soul...t'pau (4:14) (the full length album version)
    12. don't you forget about me...simple minds (5:00) (the jam & spoon remix from the late 1990s)
    13. kids in America...kim wilde (4:02) (the d-bop techno/trance mix from 2001)

    Amazon.com essential recording

While director Francis Coppola's potboiling crime drama set against the gloriously tumultuous backdrop of Harlem's famed Cotton Club nightspot of the '20s and '30s didn't quite come together as a cinematic whole, John Barry's efforts at supervising, scoring, and recreating the energetic jive and wail of the era very nearly carry the day. The opportunity was likely a dream come true for the former jazzman turned film scorer; his adaptations of standards by Ellington and Cab Calloway are reverent yet energetic, infused by original music that weaves it into an accessible and rewarding tapestry of time, place, and art. So-so film, great soundtrack. --Jerry McCulley

ringtone88.com he songs, and cutaways from the performers to the often-gory and sometimes-boring "story!" I own the Video of the film and have watched it many times, skipping from one musical number to another, feeling frustrated that I can't hear the MUSIC the way it was meant to be heard. I mean, those musicians were knocking themselves out to please the listeners and dancers and I thought the movie wasted their talents by putting them in the background so much of the time.

Like other reviewers here, I am mightily impressed by the faithfulness of the arrangements of songs created by some of the greats--Arlen and Ellington, in particular. The excellence of the music's realization truly comes through on the CD.

The vocal productions frequently do not match the high level of the instrumental work, but it is wonderful to hear all the lyrics of so many classics of the "Cotton Club" era. And, Gregory Hines's rendition of "Copper Colored Gal" is a special treat for those of us who love his singing even when we can't watch his dancing!

Overall, I'd say "The Cotton Club" Soundtrack CD is a welcome addition to any collection of original Elligton and Calloway tunes. I also think the CD can provide a terrific introduction of the music to anyone who hasn't been fortunate enough to discover it yet. I only wish the CD contained more of it.

These recordings range back to 1994, with a number of tracks being from Silva Screen's "Music from the Films of Clint Eatwood" compilation, with Derek Wadsworth conducting the City of Prague Philharmonic.

Those tracks are: "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", "A Fistful of DOllars", "For a Few Dollars More", and "Two Mules for Sister Sara". "In The Line Of Fire' also appeared on that CD, performed electronically by Mark Ayres.

The next bunch of tracks is from Silva Screen's 1996 compilation, "Cinema Paradise: The Classic Film Music of Ennio Morricone", which included the majority of tracks here such as the extensive The Mission Suite, The Untouchables, Casulaties of War, Once Upon a Time In America, 1900, Chi Mai, Marco Polo, Once Upon a Time In The West (two tracks), Cinema Paradise, and The Good the Bad and the Ugly - Ecstacy of Gold, mostly being conducted by Paul Bateman, with Nic Raine doing some of the conducting duties as well.

Hamlet is from Silva's 1997 "Cinema's Classic Romances" compilation, while "The Thing" is from Silva's 2001 "Essential John Carpenter".

A Fistful of Dynamite - Duck You Sucker is from 2002's Way Out West: Essential Western Film Music Collection Volume Two.

The remaing tracks were newly recorded in 2004 for this release:
Days of Heaven, Exorcist II, Guns for San Sebastian, Moses the Lawgiver, My Name is Nobody, The Five Man Army, The Red Tent, The Men From Shiloh and The Sicilian Clan.

    Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars "his domain of film scoring is legendary ~ Ennio Morricone".......2004-10-07

Silva America once again has outdone themselves with "Once Upon A Time:The Essential Ennio Morricone Film Music Collection", a double disc collection worth their weight in GOLD! ~ Morricone creates visual moods for each film he scores...action, adventure, mystery, romance, sentimental and suspense...the list could go on.

Ennio Morricone was born in Rome on October 11, 1928...attended the Santa Cecilia Conservatory...worked in various jazz bands, later a staff arranger and composer...an orchestrator in the '50s...scored films in the early '60s, then the WESTERNS and his name became a household word in the film industry ~ a new kind of western was on the horizon and Morricone was commissioned to score "A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS" [1964] for Sergio Leone featuring Clint Eastwood, spaghetti westerns were born ~ next "FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE" [1965] ~ and a bigger budget film "THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY" [1966], again featuring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and a third Eli Wallach whose performance was magical to watch on the big screen ~ violence and revenge gives Morricone an opportunity to feature electric guitars, flutes and jew's harp blending with a non lyrical chorus mixed with brass, strings, percussion with full orchestration that simply took your breath away...example is "ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST" [1968], featuring Henry Fonda, Claudia Cardinale, Jason Robards and our hero Charles Bronson the mysterious harmonica player, director Sergio Leone's tribute to the American Western, pulled out all the stops ~ the Western was just a small part of Maestro Morricone's career, in the next paragraph take a gander of just what our icon of film music accomplished.

Our composer didn't stop there as "ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA" [1984], featuring Robert De Niro, James Woods and Elizabeth McGovern, another Sergio Leone film..."THE MISSION" [1986], featuring Robert De Niro, Jeremy Irons and Aldan Quinn, is probably one of Morricone's crowning scores receiving an Academy Award nomination, very haunting and classical genre in substance..."THE UNTOUCHABLES" [1987], featuring Kevin Costner, Sean Connery and Robert De Niro during the Al Capone '30s crime organization, Morricone conjures a powerful and dynamic arrangement of his unmistakable theme..."CINEMA PARADISO" [1988], featuring Phillippe Noiret, Antonella Attili and Pupella Maggio from director Giuseppe Tomatore as he recalls his early childhood, the score immediately captures your heart, so tender and compelling as Morricone can only deliver.

City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra featuring conductors Kenneth Alwyn, Paul Bateman, James Fitzpatrick, Nic Raine, Derek Wadsworth ~ Crouch End Festival Chorus featuring Choir Master David Temple ~ vocals performed by Charlotte Kinder, Marie Kopecka and Jill Washington ~ guitar, percussion and keyboards performed by Gareth Williams ~ all in all did a magnicent job in bringing the music of a composer who wrote for over 250 films, receiving recognition from the industry and fans which was long over-due ~ his work is in constant demand, scoring as many as over a half dozen films as year.

This collection contains an overlay of each cue in Morricone's distinctive style of legendary scoring ~ the man who made this possible, a tremendous asset to every project he undertakes is James Fitzpatrick [producer of the album] ~ symphonic suites with full orchestra fullfilling the "film-score-buffs" cravings for more of the same, just the way we like 'em!

Well, personally, I bought this disk for one reason, and it's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. The SUPER RARE extended version of Fascination by the Human League on CD. Since the "fascination" EP has never made its way to disc, I've had to buy numerous compilations to get most of the songs from that vinyl EP on CD, and I can finally cross this one off my list. Other than that, unless you don't have many 12" collection compilations, you'll probably have most of the stuff on here. It should be noted that "To Cut a Long Story Short" sort of, well, cuts the 12" version short. It's not the full 6 and a half-minute mix. Also, the 12" of "19" is on here, but ironically, the 12" version is shorter than the album version. And why call this disc the ORIGINAL 80s Remix Album when we have 90s house remixes of Heaven 17, Blondie, Simple Minds, and Kim Wilde? They don't belong on here. I wish they would have omitted them and scrounged up some more real 80s 12" versions. Track times:
