Album Description

WIND-UP is the second release from award-winning Native American singer Arigon Starr. Arigon's powerful vocals are front and center, as she takes you on a musical journey through Native America. The rock, pop, funk and country tunes provide an excellent backdrop to stories as bold as the occupation of Alcatraz Island and as humorous as the story of pow-wow veteran Junior Frybread. She is an artist who is as comfortable opening for the likes of Hank Williams III as she is playing for a group of Indian elders. Really enjoyed this CD!.......2001-11-20

I bought this CD because it includes "Junior Frybread" which won a 2000 Native American Music Award for "Song Of The Year." That song is really great -- bouncy, funny and a good story. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the rest of the album too. It has 14 songs and they all sound different and I really liked the variety. I especially enjoyed "Indian Land Forever" and "My Heart Is On The Ground." Arigon calls 'em like she see 'em while still rocking out AND making me laugh and have fun. What a combo!

I highly recommend this album and I think we'll be hearing more from Miss Starr in the future!
