5 out of 5 stars BURN BABY BURN!! DISCO INFERNO!!.......2007-05-06

The Trammps' "Disco Inferno" was released way back in 1976 when Studio 54 was jam-packed with fabulous celebrities and unlimited sex and drugs were within an arm's reach. Just recently, I managed to buy this digitally remastered dance classic from Sound Exchange, an out-of-the-way record store in Tampa. Upon hearing the first few seconds of "Body Contract Contact," (a witty number about two lovers signing a dotted line), I realized that the music isn't outdated at all. Unlike other disco and funk hits of the decade, this EP hasn't worn off its golden shine. Not only is it as soulful and free-spirited now as it was back in the band's heydey, but the six tracks really give listeners their toe-tapping money's worth. The fiery title song alone is over ten minutes in length, and that delivers more than enough flash and groove to spread the love around. As for the radio-friendly subject matter: "Body Contract," "Starvin'," "Dark Side of the Moon," and "You Touch my Hot Line" are about the hills and chasms of intimate love. "Don't Burn No Bridges" is a cautionary tale that reminds individuals (both black and white) to treat other people with respect. Finally, "Inferno" brilliantly encompasses the entire lifesyle of the movement while addressing the fight against violence in African-American communities (indirectly, of course). The funny thing about this album is that The Trammps (who consisted of singer Jimmy Ellis, guitarist Norman Harris, bassist Stanley Wade and Robert Upchurch and Earl Young on organ and keyboards) were never a big commercial success in the 1970's, despite having three Top Ten hits in the R&B category. Nevertheless, the group's tunes have survived and even now they can deliver a real positive message while crossing racial boundaries. Forget hip-hop and gangsta rap, everyone...disco is back in a big way!! Oh, and the next time you are wandering through your nearest neighborhood vinyl shop seeking potential dance floor hits to make the next rave party memorable, I joyfully recommend you also get some stuff by The Village people, KC and the Sunshine Band, Jamiroquai, Madonna, and Army of Lovers.

5 out of 5 stars 1976...a year B4 "Saturday Night Fever".......2006-07-13

To the pop masses "Disco Inferno" is all the Trammps one needs to know. This whole album is just as good as that one song, especially "It Feels Like I've Been Livin' On The Dark Side Of The Moon".Legend has it that John Travolta hand picked the previous released songs on SNF and "Disco Inferno" was one of the songs that made the cut. While that is a tremendous song, give these other songs at try.You won't be dissapointed.

P.S. "Disco Inferno" and the rest of this album came out a year BEFORE "Saturday Night Night Fever".It was NOT new or written especially for that movie like most of those Bee Gees songs.

5 out of 5 stars Stepping back in time.......2006-03-23

This is a good album that captures the tune of the times. Of course, everyone knows Disco Inferno, yet there are other tunes here that will take you back in the day. This showcases the Tramps that their best.

5 out of 5 stars Album Inferno.......2004-12-22

The best Trammps album. Full of heavy pulsating, brilliantly produced commercial ear candy. They were the best at what they did. They also had the benefit of recording in Philly, the hottest city at that time. So many great tunes that NEVER got the airplay they deserved. It's not too late for some Broadcast company executive to re-discover this golden classic.

5 out of 5 stars Even the worst dancer and disco hater will HAVE to move.......2002-04-26

Put on the tune "Disco Inferno" and try not to move and it will be nearly impossible. I am not a big dancer at all and I have a really hard time not letting loose and getting down to this. Some may think its cheesy and it may be but this is some fun stuff and for an out of shape thirtysomething, it is even excellent excercise and a whole lot of fun. There are some other fun tunes here as well.

      4 out of 5 stars A Heady Brew.......2007-06-28

This probably will not appeal to the mainstream rock/pop fan, but it is a unique mix of electronica and hard psychedelia - if you are into that, I recommend giving this a try. Electronic beats, echoing effects, industrial noises, and cascading, roaring guitars make for a thick, dreamy mix. The record, like a lot of rock music, suffers from talentless, hollering-in-the-void vocals. Apparently this was an English group who were together from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s.

4 out of 5 stars Fun & Entertaining, But Short........2006-10-25

This album includes six songs both as audio recordings by characters from Shrek as well as the karaoke versions of the songs. The songs include:

      "Disco Inferno" by Donkey

"These Boots are Made for Walkin'" by Puss in Boots

"I Can See Clearly Now" by Three Blind Mice

"Hooked on a Feeling" by Captain Hook

"I'm Too Sexy" by Prince Charming

"What I Like About You" by Shrek & Fiona

Some of the songs are funny to listen to a few times especially after having seen the movies. However, the only song that I enjoy listening to over and over and over is "What I Like About You." I wish they would have had a few more tunes on the album. A good cd for fans of the Shrek movies.

2 out of 5 stars A Six-track CD single where only TWO of the tracks are good.......2001-12-10

In late 1998, "A Night At the Roxbury" was released to theaters, where it quite properly faded away. The soundtrack to that less-than-stellar movie was, however, quite good. Nearly every track was fun, well-produced, and made you want to get up and dance (or at the very least tap your feet to the beat).

One of the tracks on that soundtrack was a new dance cover of "Disco Inferno", this time rendered by the venerable Cyndi Lauper. In recent years, and most exquisitely on her "Sisters of Avalon" album, Cyndi's vocals have shown some massive maturity. Whilst already strong and growing back in the eighties, with such hits as "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Time After Time", in the 90's she has really come into her own. However, it *is* necessary to have the proper production to back her up.

This CD single does not provide such production.

The soundtrack version of "Disco Inferno" is short, tight, and simply great. For the CD single (released later in 1999), Soul Solution (the original producers of the soundtrack version) have tinkered around, and dramatically reduced the energy-impact of the song. Their two mixes on the single (club & radio) are good, but not as good as the soundtrack version. Then, we have the remaining four tracks which, unfortunately, aren't very good at all. The structure of the song is totally lost, and most of them end up being very poor 'dubs' (tracks which feature very few vocals).

So, if you are looking to get this Cyndi Lauper track, I recommend the soundtrack to "Night at the Roxbury" over this single. You'll come away much happier.

      4 out of 5 stars Diva Inferno.......2001-07-03

"Disco Inferno" is one of Cyndi's best dance track to date. Soul Solution did an outstanding job with this production and Cyndi's voice has never sounded so powerful. It's impossible not to resist to this infectious Hands-in-the-air club anthem. The only bad point of this single is that the Plasmic honey and Boris & Beck mixes aren't really good, way too fast, and don't respect Cyndi's vocal. But there are 4 different mixes from Soul Solution and they all rock.

      4 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect.......1999-11-17

Cyndi Lauper is one of the few unique voices left to us in the world. She always adds a little fire, spunk and above all voice to whatever she touches. I was a little disappointed with the remixes though as they tend to be bit... Well, the original version on the "A Night At The Roxbury" soundtrack was better.

      5 out of 5 stars Cyndi rocks!.......1999-10-07

BUY THIS SINGLE! Cyndi's the best voice in modern music today! While some of the remixes are a little bland, the original is superb! This girl can bust a tune! If you like REAL music, turn off the stupid radio and BUY THIS SINGLE!

4 out of 5 stars Great singer and great voice!!!!.......1999-09-30

Damn Cindy is back and I love her delicious hit "Disco Inferno". She is the best voice in the pop music. Buy this CD single because is great. Here in Italy we love it. Burn babe burn.....

          5 out of 5 stars Delay-pedal flairý.......2003-06-06

U2 may have put emphasis on the stylish technique first, but Disco Inferno crafts the sound more fluid-like and less predictable. It's a music marvel, really. It's like watching Mercury dance-liquid, reflective, and glossy, the type of reverie that left you captivated for months as a child. There's a few conditions though: buy it, listen closely, and give thanks to yourself or the humble genius that recommended it to you.

5 out of 5 stars Another Pop Tragedy.......1998-05-08

If you like Joy Division, early New Order, or My Bloody Valentine, you will adore In Debt. Dark and aesthetic, with a wonderful liquid quality, you will play the CD again and again, probably listening to nothing else for weeks. Unfortunatly this amazing British group has already split up, leaving us with only a hanful of music to cling to.

1 out of 5 stars so obviously a one star item.......2006-03-06

This is just more terrible rap from 50 Cent. His songs have awful rhythms and shouldn't ever have been played on the radio. I'd pretty much prefer that no rap go on the radio, but 50 Cent is just over the top awful. He has no skill whatsoever, his music is boring and oftentimes annoying, and the cover of his CD even is stupid. I assure you that this CD is not worth buying in the slightest, and if ever you find a copy of it lying around make sure to burn it and spread its ashes over a pile of slop. A word to 50 Cent: get a new job

1 out of 5 stars Candy Shop = Bubblegum pop rap = G@Y.......2005-12-15

Rap has reach to its end and changes into bubblegum Pop-Rap.. when these non-heter0sxual rappers like the D4L, 50 Cent rapping about candy (laffy taffy & candy shop)..whutz gonna be next? a rapper is gonna make a song about blowin bubblegum? or talk bout rockin skittle colored fitz & jerzeys? or matter of fact, rap about lollipops?... this has to stop.. if your gonna rap about candy.. make sure u say it right (candy = coke).. this pop-rap madness has to stop.. lmao ..Look at Fifty Cent..hes all hardcore.. gangster.. got shot nine times.. k!ll!n people, robbing them.. lmao @ this fake..hes trys to hard to be "cute" for the girls by makin this song.. but he failed.. hes all sayin Ja Rule went Pop..but look at him.. he went Pop with this G@y $h!t.. If ur a real hip hop listener.. avoid this at all costs... The only thing I like about this cd tho is the Disco Inferno beats.. other than that..the rest is certified GARBAGE

1 out of 5 stars Worst Song of the Century.......2005-12-03

This might well be the worst song of the 21st century, the beats are horrible, the lyrics are completely silly, the music video is really bad and 50 has zero talent, just all image, and he doesn't have any substance and there is zero chemistry between 5-0 and olivia.

This song is a mess, a truly absolutly mess.
