With material that he believes in, Hall lets loose the full force of ... that voice. His incredible vocal tool can give you the ultimate fix....

He's at it again on his second solo album, making love a very physical thing on salacious ballads like "All the Places"....

The Isleys Coasting.......2007-07-02
INSIDE YOU (1981) and THE REAL DEAL (1982) are the featured albums on this third two-on-one Isley release from BGO Records. Both of these albums broke the group's nine gold and/or platinum album streak.
The previous album GRAND SLAM (also 1981) took longer than the previous eight albums to reach "gold" status. So on INSIDE YOU, the Isleys tried to reinvent themselves by incorporating lush string arrangements into their clavinet/guitar solo funk formula. For the most part, it works, especially on the title tune, the Doobie-ish "Baby Hold On", the lush Stylistics-like ballad "Don't Hold Back Your Love", and "Love Zone" in which Ernie's guitar soars above a comfy bed of strings. However, the pop leanings fall flat on "First Love", the soggy "Welcome To My Heart", and "Love Merry Go Round", a good idea that somehow fails to catch fire. INSIDE YOU stalled at #45 on the Billboard pop album chart, the Isleys first non-top 40 album since 1971's GIVIN' IT BACK.
After that pop/funk experiment failed, the Isleys brought the funk back to the forefront in 1982's THE REAL DEAL. The title track and "Are You With Me?" incorporate some Gap Band influences in the mix, while those darn strings rear their ugly head in the poppy "It's Alright With Me". "All In My Lover's Eyes" is well-sung but features lazy lyrics, while Ernie's guitar saves the funky "Stone Cold Lover" and the bluesy closer "Under The Influence". This album crawled to #87 on the Billboard Pop Charts.
After the failure of these albums, the Isleys came back with 1983's platinum BETWEEN THE SHEETS. These albums aren't the best representation of the Isley catalog, but they have their moments.
First Love!.......2007-06-29
I can't believe this! Wow! I have been waiting on both of these albums to be released since 1993! I own both albums on vinyl and they're my 2 favorite Isley albums. Now these two albums never have been on cd domestically! So this is a first time. I've seen a copy of the Real Deal on eBay which looked like an import. But don't no if it was legit. Now I have been jamming these two albums since 1993. 1 song from each album has been released on cd. So this is going to be good. I can't wait because I already pre-ordered it. I own imported cd of Grand Slam, Go all the Way, Masterpiece, Showdown, Harvest for the World and Live it Up! A couple is now sold domestically but I am one of their biggest fans. Now these albums are two of their lowest selling albums but I think it was just the advertisement and the time it was released that didn't allow these albums to soar. But these are two underrated albums. I know all kinds of history on these guys. So place your order and get ready to jam! This is the Real Deal!

The missing link between 'N Sync and the Goo Goo Dolls, SR-71 purvey carefully wrought, radio-friendly rock-pop on this 11-cut debut. The boyish, relatively clean-cut quartet have the harmonies, slick production, and songs that smack of a manufactured "boy band," which, surprisingly, they're not. There's a slight edge to the polished songs and approach that make tracks like "Politically Correct" and "Right Now" palatable for alternative radio. As a whole, however, the album is more noteworthy for Gil Norton's (Foo Fighters) rich production and the band's strong vocal harmonies and melodic songs. Lyrically, SR-71 are trite and true--clever homilies delivered sincerely by lead vocalist/guitarist Mitch Allan and his cute compatriots. Ditto the generally impeccable songs, which, while catchy, are not as memorable as matchbox twenty's, nor as poignant as the aforementioned Goos. For a moment, on "What a Mess," as befits the desperate romantic entreaty of the tune's title, SR-71 hints at a Nine Inch Nails-style darkness before segueing into middle-of-the-road territory. Perhaps the band unwittingly sum themselves up in "Non-Toxic": "Not much to say on this nontoxic, ordinary day." Not from this nontoxic, ordinary band, anyway. --Katherine Turman

One of my top 5 albums.......2007-03-22
I've been listening to SR-71 for 5 years now, and their first album is still (by far) my favorite. It is the perfect mix of pop and punk - something no other band seems to have gotten right. I never get tired of this album, my favorite songs being the entertaining 'Politically Correct' and 'Alive' - a ballad of strength in the face of physical abuse. I can't say enough good things about this CD, the only disappointment is that SR-71's following albums couldn't match its calibur.
OMG, I love this album.......2006-07-01
^^that's what someone who likes garbage that is not original at all would say about this album. The singer tries his hardest to sound like Deryck from Sum 41 and fails. This album makes a good drink coaster or doorstop. If you are lacking one of those things in your house, this album is perfect for you. For fans of doorstops, coasters, and oh yeah, book ends. Go check out some good music, like Sum 41 and Underoath.
perfect pretty muchs sums it up.......2006-03-02
I have a cd collection of over 1000 cds, and I have some serious classics, and this album is definetly in my top 10. They are not like all the punk/emo/hardcore bands (which I really like actually) you see everywhere. They are different, better. Catchy tunes, powerful lyrics, simple and yet perfect songs. Writing a song and filling it with wonderful huge solos, makes the song amazing, if you have the skills, you can do it. Making a simple song with simple chords and simple riffs sound as great as sr-71 does, however, that is what I call the work of a genius. And there's Mitch Allan of course. You just don't expect someone that hot to be that talented.
I liked it but..........2006-02-17
3 out of 5 stars meaning I like it. I really enjoyed the first two songs (which were released as radio singles) and the rest of the songs weren't bad either. I don't necessarily hate any song on here but after the first 2, none seem to really stick out in my memory. The rest seem to work well if your, say, shuffling your iPOD and come across one of them. But this album just doesn't have enough to it that makes me want to sit down and listen to the whole thing through. So I liked it, but you should definately preview this before buying because in all likelyhood you'll like the first 2 but that'll be it.
SR71's debut.....their best CD.......2005-06-29
I have purchased all three of SR71's CDs and listened to all three a few times and I have really enjoyed this their first CD release. Track 1, 2, 3 and 5 are simply smashing. You can tell that these band members are young and with this CD released in 2000 they were in their late teens. Yet in this CD the band showed great maturity mixing rock sounds with a tinge of punk, but not too much punk and a bit of pop. This is still a rock album at its core and the songs 'Right Now, 'What A Mess', 'Empty Spaces', 'Politically Correct' and 'Go Away' are the best songs on this album. This CD is easily in my top 10 of most listened to albums and I would recommend this to anybody who has enjoyed the young bands of 'Fuel' 'Saliva and 'Puddle Of Mudd'. A must hear album.

More comedy monologue than musical performance, Bea Arthur's one-woman show Bea Arthur on Broadway: Just Between Friends collects memories from the silver-haired star's life on Broadway (Fiddler on the Roof, Mame, The Threepenny Opera) and television (Maude, The Golden Girls).
"I wanted to see if I had the guts to just come and be myself," Arthur says in this performance recorded in front of a live audience in December 2001. Alongside co-creator and pianist Billy Goldenberg, she offers wry and often funny anecdotes about her career and the people she's worked with (Angela Lansbury, Pia Zadora). When she does sing ... well, even decades ago Arthur didn't have a beautiful voice, but she's well-suited to the comedy songs. And her versions of Kurt Weill's "Pirate Jenny" and Goldenberg's own "Fifty Percent"--while they won't make anyone forget Lotte Lenya or Dorothy Loudon--are effective in their own right. Bea Arthur on Broadway is definitely more Bea than Broadway, but it's a career well worth remembering. --David Horiuchi

And Then There's BEA!.......2007-01-20
Thank goodness this is available on CD. I saw the show twice in Manhattan and once in P-town MA. She is an American treasure. What's nice is that you don't need to have had seen the live performance to enjoy this CD. (Though I'd love to have it on DVD.) Just Bea, Billy, a piano and yet so much more!!!!!
Golden Girl Shines Brightly.......2005-10-21
For anyone who has ever laughed as Bea Arthur deftly put people in their place with her lightning quick wit as Dorothy on the "Golden Girls", they will not be disappointed with this CD. Arthur, some 9 years after leaving the small screen, returns triumphantly to her professional roots, the stage, and does not disappoint. Mixing antedotal stories with classic songs, all to the accompianment of Billy Goldenburg, Arthur weaves her life in a brillant 90 minute tapestry so that the listener regrets ever reaching the end. Anyone who has ever seen Arthur perform on stage, or as Maude or Dorothy, they will not regret purchasing this CD. For that rare minority of people who have not have the privilage of seeing Arthur previously should find out what they have been missing of this American icon.
Alive and Unforgettable.......2004-11-21
Bea Arthur. Nearing 80. And yet, her continuing vitality is blatantly obvious in this live recording. I will tell you this--I bought this disc with no expectations whatsoever. I like Golden Girls as much as the next chap, and I was slightly curious about what Bea had become.
The simple truth was that I was stunned. Completely stunned. Again, this sounds as the same, alive, malicious woman who portrayed those "affirmative women" on TV (per her own words). She mocks her own voice, recalling the humiliation of being mistaken for the man of the house through the phone ... and some--who buy this disk with the intent of getting a faultless musical performance--might agree (and according to some reviews her, HAVE agreed) that her voice is perhaps too deep, too cutting, not pure enough. But this is NOT (and I stress it) a musical performance per se, it is not a perfectly rounded voice singing perfect standards.
What this disc is? A drama performance. The songs are intermissed with speech interludes, during which Bea narrates anecdotes from her past experience as an actress--and that's is PRECISELY what is MAGIC. You feel as though she's inviting you to witness the high points of her life, and it's a very nice place. The songs, seem alive as rarely before, because they are performed. She renders them with life, and make the most of her abilities.
I really appreciated some of the smaller things. You get to recognize her trademark, slightly embarassed, `You know' ... She'll make you laugh with good natured reminiscence ("A Mother's Ingenuity"!); some of the songs are delightfully imperfect, (I learned to love the half-sung/half-spoken "What Do You Start" ...), some others are wonderfully dynamic ("What Can You Get a Nudist For Her Birthday?", "Threepenny Opera/Pirate Jenny" ...), but all are very enjoyable ...
Be it "Isn't He Adorable?" or "If I Can't Sell It, I'll Keep Sittin' on It" ... every track on this disc will have you fondly reminisce or curiously discover the career of one helluva woman.
You really can't be disappointed. I promise.
If only we could have a visual as well!
A trip down memory lane..........2003-10-19
Bea Arthur, one of the finest performers of her time.
Bea is most known for her role on the sitcoms Golden Girls and Maude, but she's done so much theater work as well.
She was in the cast of the original U.S production of "Threepenny Opera" starring Lotta Lenya, and in the original cast of "Fiddler On The Roof" and "Mame". But Bea started her theater career in a show called "The Shoestring Revue".
Bea stoled the scene every night when she performed as yente the Matcmaker on "Fiddler On The Roof" and she also got a hole lot of response as Vera Charles on "Mame", starring Angela Lansbury. In this live performence Bea performs a collection of songs chosen by herself, such as, "Let's Face The Music And Dance", "Isn't He Adorable", "Fifty Percent" and her theme song from Mame "The Man In The Moon". Bea is absolutely one of our time finest performers, with her witty sence of knowledge and her indefiable voice she has establised herself as a broadway legend, alongside Judy Garland, Elaine Stritch, Mary Martin. She is one of the last broadway female legends alive. And still going strong, Bea is rounding 80, but you wouldn't notice.
Do yourself a favour and take a trip down down memory lane, it's your chance to hang out with the last female broadway legend around.
A Truly Remarkable Accomplishment.......2003-06-16
As a huge fan of Bea Arthur's, I was very excited when I heard she would return to Broadway to do a one-woman show. Not since winning the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for "Mame" has Bea Arthur been on stage. Well, what a way to follow up! This cd (which was recorded during a live performance) Bea gives fans an intimate look into her show business life. The stories are very funny and touching, and the songs (which Bea picked out herself) are fun, beautiful, and magical. A favorite part of this cd for me, is when Bea talks about her days on TV. She was the star of two very successful and groundbreaking sitcoms, "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" I am a huge fan of "The Golden Girls" and Bea's character Dorothy was always my favorite. This cd is a must for any Bea Arthur fan, but the appeal of this amazing show goes beyond her hardcore fans. Any fan of classic Broadway and cabaret songs will love this cd. This is one of the favorite cds I own, and should be treasured by more people. And finally, as a sidenote, Bea's one-woman show was nominated for a Tony Award in 2001 in the category of Best Special Theatrical Event.

Beautiful and scary as hell.......2006-03-28
I wasn't sure what to expect when I breached the shrink wrap on Leaves Turn Inside you. All I knew is that I kept meaning to buy an Unwound album and this was the newest. The fact that it was double indicated it might be a Statement album of some sort, which can be a good or a bad thing. In this case it's a good thing- a very very good thing. I took the plunge and found one of my top three favorite CDs of all time. (the other two are constantly lobbying for #1, which is why i can't be more definitive).
I am a fan of the DIY sound if it's isn't too low-fi. Unwound create a unique sound space in their recording studio. Atmospheric reverb, a few effects pedals and reverse tape loops dubbed after the fact onto what sounds like two or three-take live tracks makes for music that is at once warm and pulsing, and cold and dark. Some of these tracks are downright scary. I think you could put "Summer Freeze" on the soundtrack of any horror movie you can think of and it would fit in just fine.
Mention "indie" and "prog" in the same sentence and you'll make a lot of people run away screaming. But the formula works with amazing effectiveness on this album. The clean production values give Vern Rumsey's bass the muscle it needs to cut through the fog. Justin Trosper's lonely guitar leads, barely embellished with a little overdrive and occasional tremolo, floats like a cloud above Sara Lund's monster-island 7/8 time signature (in some cases- in others, beats never heard before anywhere). Vern stirs the mix with thick tree-root bass notes. the effect is startlingly original and harmonious, somehow, even in its most discordant moments.
Like your rock? I would pit the deep riffing of Below the Salt, the angry bursts of Off this Century and the volcanic groove of Scarlette against any rock noise of any stripe. They may not crank the overdrive pedal to eleven, but they don't need it. Most of their hardest jamming sounds like two plain old fenders, hooked into amps and cranked, interlocked in a battle to the bitter end.
This horror movie filmed on Monster Island is full of interesting characters, monstrous on the outside and tender on the inside. The lovelorn letter that makes up the lyrics of Scarlette are scathing, sad and beautiful all at once. The protagonist of "Summer Freeze" thought he was dead, but it turns out he's alive. A lot of lyrical moments remind me of Poe, maybe even HP Lovecraft.
Anyway, this is great album, with a lot to offer to a wide range of tastes. You'll find it especially tasty if you like your rock served up raw but with some complex flavors and structures, and have a love for old horror movies or gothic fiction. And probably even if you don't.
My cat's name is Mittens.......2004-10-11
Defying labels with an admirable determination, Unwound's valedictory is surely among the more interesting releases I've purchased lately. It's progressive without sounding anything like Rush, alternative without in any way resembling Nirvana, post-rock without any Mogwai influences. In other words, it occupies its own niche in the rock world. The Sonic Youth comparisons on this page are certainly justified, but Unwound here created a more dynamic and emotionally compelling sound than their ultra-hip brethren.
Since this album is more about mood and texture than catchy songwriting or technical virtuosity, it may take a while to get into. That said, it wrings a lot from the interweaving of Justin Trosper's microtonal and occasionally abrasive guitar work, Sara Lund's intricate drumming, and Vern Rumsey's flowing bass lines, not to mention such added sounds as slide guitar, mellotron, and harpsichord. While often genuinely pretty, this album also has a rather unsettling aspect that I can't quite put my finger on, a yearning and disaffected feel that's always there even if the band doesn't feel the need to beat you over the head with it. It's kind of a cliche to say you have to listen to what someone isn't playing as well as what they are, but it actually applies here. The songs on "Leaves Turn Inside You" are some of the most spacious you'll find using the rock-song form.
Although this album maintains a consistent feel throughout, there are some interesting variations on the theme. The near-ballad "Look A Ghost" is about as sonically and lyrically eloquent as a song can get without being the slightest bit sappy. Elsewhere, Unwound delve into cosmic post-rock on "December," show some strong Sonic Youth parallels with the swirling, noisy "Treachery," and pummel the eardrums with the seething rage of "Scarlette." At all points, though, they show a knack for composing powerful, detailed songs that are distinctive without being pretentious, cerebral without sacrificing accessibility. My compliments go out to Unwound for playing alternative music for adults that never falls into the contemptible "adult alternative" category.
I'm told I'd had my obligations.......2004-04-09
Beautiful and breathtaking. I'm new to Unwound, so maybe their other material was better as Mr. One Star-RAting Narrow-Minded Man stated, but this is pretty friggin' good and incredibly spaced out. Easily stands up to the releases in the post-rock vein, or atleast experimental rock, since it's really hard to explain. I read somewhere that they were influenced by 60's psychadelia (espescially in production, in particular vocal production, which is appareant) and 70's karutrock/art rock just as much as they were arty post-punk and shoegazer.
In other words, try imagining Slint, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, King Chrimson, Brian Eno, and some 60's band all put together in a room and asked to behave. In other other words, just listen to it, cause I'm an amateur musicologist and don't really know what I'm talking about, but hey, I'm trying.
But anywho, combine all those influences into precise, concise, pop song structures and you have an amzing album. All the parts flow seamlessly, ranging from shorter and to-the-point peices like "December" and "Scarlette" to epic masterstrokes like "Terminus" and "Below THe Salt". Lyrically, the songs seem to be abstract poetic takes on relationships, although they tend to venture into ambigous and confused realms. They simultaneously seem to take on existenstial, maybe even nihilstic, emotions ("Don't lie to summarize the truth in place of life/Create a world to house your love" from "Below THe Salt"). Also, Pitchfork recommends this to people who like to dabble a bit in the cough syrup, if you know what I'm getting at (haha...ugh. I hate myself).
great album from a great year for music.......2003-11-04
I would have to say this is one of the top 10 releases of 2001, which is saying a lot due to the strong albums that came out that year. I recommend this album to all indie rock fans and it may even be accessible for some of your Radiohead obsessed friends. Just go out and buy it you really won't regret it.
"Worst Unwound album ever" - - from a huge Unwound fan.......2003-08-08
First off, I am a longtime fan of Unwound. That being said, this is the worst album of their career. It's even worst than their 6th studio album "Challenge for a Civilized Society". If you like Unwound's previous records and like what they do, then avoid this album like the plague. The only redeeming song on this album is "December", which pretty much retains their "sound". The rest of it is POP garbage!! That's right, Unwound doing pop songs. This album was a total disappointment...and I love, LOVE Unwound. I tried repeatedly to like this album. I tried to listen to it without any preconcieved notions, but I found it pretty hard to listen to the album all the way through in its entirety. Some bands just should not do pop music (guess all that hanging out and touring with Blonde Redhead had an adverse affect on them, yet made BHR that much better).
The biggest disappontment is that I really loved Unwound and this was the record that was to make them. They finally got thier own studio and recorded the album themselves...but my god, if this isn't one of the worst albums in my record collection. Unwound made 5 solid albums that were virtually perfect. Even the single's collection album was fantastic. I placed Unwound rightfully along-side the greatest of their contemperaries, Sonic Youth, Polvo, Blonde Redhead, Don Caballero, Thinking Fellers, etc., however, this album is a total departure from their sound.
If you like pop music in the vein of My Bloody Valentine, latter day Smashing Pumkins, Yo la Tengo, etc., then you just may like this album. If you heard any of Unwound's previous albums and liked them, stay away from this one. If you are just getting into Unwound, then I recommend any one of their previous first 5 solid albums and their single's collection album.
Stay away, stay far away!!

The line between evangelist and entertainer has always been somewhat indistinct. But as showcased on this 43-track, double-disc collection culled from his '87-'96 recordings for Elektra/Nonesuch/Atlantic, Michael Feinstein's dedication to spreading the gospel of the American song often blurs it beyond recognition. While the singer's pedigree for the task is impeccable (a long-term stint as Ira Gershwin's assistant and early career sponsorship by Liza Minnelli), his interpretations often succeed by playing off a tense axis of fervent emotionalism and a joyous sense of irreverence.
If his readings of romantic standards can sometimes tend toward the precious, they're often balanced here by sheer dramatic power and telling insights ("Isn't It Romantic" fairly bristles with ironic chauvinism) and a few loopy curves ("The Mole People," the Sherman Brothers' "The Ugly Bug Ball," and the previously unreleased "Rhode Island Is Famous for You"). Feinstein's dedicated song archaeology is also showcased on several gems: "Violin," a duet with Liza Minnelli; "My Favorite Year," a rejected ballad for the film of that name; the sublime "lost" Gershwin classic "Ask Me Again."
Sprinkled with live performances (the forum where Feinstein's talents seem most energized) and studio outtakes and featuring a lengthy print interview with the singer, the set chronicles both the pioneering efforts of one of pop music's most successful revivalists and, crucially, the cream of his beloved American songwriters, from stalwarts Gershwin, Berlin, and Porter to later legends like Herman, Styne, Lane, Martin, and Mercer. --Jerry McCulley

Mixed feelings.......2005-10-05
This album has some GREAT songs on it; sophisticated swing being one of my favorites. However many of the other songs are too operatic and lame. I give three stars but this album is definatly worth it just for some of the better songs.
Your love for this superb collection will be here to stay..........2002-07-18
The magnificently talented Michael Feinstein has made one wonderful album after another for nearly two decades. Now that Elektra and Rhino have put together this anthology, I am blown away by the versatility and diversity in Feinstein's recorded output. Such amazing rare gems, combined with the most beloved favorites in the history of American Popular Song. Assembled with wit, intelligence, and obvious affection on the part of the record company, this set is a keeper. You'll love it!
He's done it again.......2002-07-15
Is there anything this man can't sing? This collection is so varied as to be the definitive collection of songs for any occassion.
This is perfect background music for a dinner party for a whole group but especially for two. Light, romantic and just gorgeous. You just can't go wrong when Michael Feinstein is your musical choice.
Way to go Michael, you've done it again!
Absolutely 'S WONDERFUL!.......2002-06-10
There are very few contemporary performers who can hold their own with the truly great interpreters of American popular song. Michael Feinstein is truly the ONLY performer of the "younger" generation who really understands what these songs are all about. His incredible knowledge of this music, and his enthusiasm and passion for it have fueled his career. Rhino Records has done a truly outstanding job of putting together an anthology that exemplifies why Mr. Feinstein has become so beloved by audiences around the world. The packaging is excellent, and filled with interesting photos and background information about many of the selections.
This collection not only contains all the favorites one would expect, but a neat group of surprises too. I especially love the duets with people like Liza Minnelli and Rosemary Clooney, and the various collaborative efforts with songwriters like Jule Styne and Burton Lane accompanying Michael at the piano.
This collection is a classic to be treasured. Bravo Michael!
Bravo Rhino!
A beautiful 2 disc CD-another hit for Michael.......2002-06-09
I have every CD Michael has ever made and this is by far one of the best ones because of Michael's range in singing and his wonderful singing voice. I love his duets with Rosemary Clooney and Liza Minelli. He is a wonderful performer on this double CD and am looking foward to the next CD.

So Strong.......2005-09-15
Celtic Tenors are marvelous. The only "tenor group" offering harmony. The material is beautiful and beautifully performed.
Celtic Music Meets the Boy Bands.......2003-11-09
If one looks at the jacket of the disk THE CELTIIC TENORS, the first impression is that the disk could also be called "The Three Irish Tenors goes boy band." The three Celtic tenors: Matthew Gilsenan, Niall Morris, and James Nelson, look rather young and hip, almost in a stereotypical way, and it is clear that the disk's first priority is to be a money maker. The obvious attempt at making a dollar (or in Ireland a punt or Euro) does not make the disk a waste. There are some very enjoyable musical moments on the disk, though nothing all that original or deep. The music ranges from popular tunes, traditional Irish music, and some light classical and operetta pieces. The musical highlight of the disk is an A Capella version of Barber's Adagio. This arrangement retains the piece's beauty as well as its haunting qualities. Though the song "Mull of Kintyre" is somewhat cheesy, it works on this disk and is one of the better tracks. The disk begins with a song titled "Nella Fantasia" a tune written by Emilio Morricone, and it's from a theme from his score of THE MISSION. According to the liner notes, the composer reluctantly allowed words for the piece. He should have held out a bit longer. The tune was first performed by Charlotte Church. It does not work for her, and it does not work for the Celtic Tenors either. Since the tune is so beautiful in the film, it's too bad it was not simply left alone.
This Is Not Your Ordinary Everyday Irish Tenor Album.......2003-10-02
Currently So Strong is my most favorite album. Unlike other Irish tenor albums I own, So Strong resonates unique total excellence achieved rarely by the blending of voices. It is a successful marriage of traditional and contemporary Irish vocal styling. Every cut is a true treasure. Listening to "Mull of Kintyre" I defy anyone not to hum this Paul McCartney melody. "The Green Fields of France" is a beautiful anti war anthem while "Ag Criost An Siol" is as spiritual as any gospel. Tears swell with "The Town I Loved So Well". "Something Inside" has an addictive beat and "The Contender" and "A Love so Beautiful" are haunting without being melancholy. I garantee that you'll have the CD player on high volume and repeat for the folk dance tune "The Star of the County Down" and inspiring "Anthem". I do.
So Strong.......2003-04-07
I was watching public television and saw "The Celtic Tenors". The next day I found their CD, "So Stong". Finding voices of such obvious quality producing harmony so perfectly is rare. The first song brought me to tears and I wanted to stand and cheer. In fact, I did. In my opinion, "The Celtic Tenors" have absolutely clear voices and sing with "Heart" whether it's concerning the town they love or the love they let slip away. I have already suggested the CD to many friends who have immediately purchased one for themselves. What a treat, what a treat.
What a beautiful mix of songs.......2003-01-15
I bought this on a whim after listening to the 30 second bits on this site. It is now one of my favorite albums. I can't stop listening to it! I walk around all day singing bits from 'So Strong' & 'Mull of Kintyre'. Each tenor is given equal billing & their voices flow together so well. I'm now anxiously awaiting either a US tour or a new album. The first album, simply titled 'Celtic Tenors' is wonderful as well. If you love men who can really sing, you will love this album!

Customer Reviews:
Not much of a Disney Princess CD!.......2006-05-04
Well, Disney has done this again... How can this thing earn money?
Only "Kiss the Girl" "Reflection" and "Once Upon a Dream" are favorites. It was so strange that "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" which was from "The Lion King" was in this album. This was not from a Disney Princess Movie! And why the song from "Aladdin & the King of Thieves" can be recorded in a Disney Princess album?
I love Disney Princess very much, and I love listening to the wonderful and sweet voices of the Princesses, for example, Ariel, Belle and Pocahontas, even Mulan. Well, where are the songs of the Princesses? And I don't like the songs from "Cinderella-2: Dreams Come True", I think they wouldn't be so terrible if there were no classic Princess songs as reference substance!
This album is really unworthy. It was neither fit for adults nor children, even a Disney fan won't love this. This album might make Disney fans and your kid disappointed, even angry. We want to listen to REAL Disney Princess songs! What we want is not this confusing album. I hope that there won't be any Disney Favoties albums like this. It's really disappointing. I have to say this even though it's not nice: If you buy this, you might be taken in by this. Save your money to buy other better off Disney albums!
The Real Reason to Get This CD.......2005-12-31
I'm going to say it right now --- this CD is good. It's very good. If you're looking for true "Disney princess" tracks and you don't consider Cinderella II, Aladdin and the King of Thieves or Mulan/Lion King to count, then stop now. But it seems like most people are basing their opinions on the sorts of songs they expected from the CD, rather than what's actually on it.
The CD begins with "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" by Meg(ara) from Disney's "Hercules." This is one of my favorite Disney movies and this is an excellent track. Meg tries to deny her feelings for Hercules, before finally sort of admitting that she is in love.
Next is "Belle" from "Beauty and the Beast." A wonderful tune of dreams and romance that was nominated for an Academy Award.
Who doesn't enjoy "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Featuring funny bits by Timon and Pumbaa, excellent harmonies and singing by both Simba and Nala.
"If I Can't Love Her" is from the stage show of "Beauty and the Beast." It's my least favorite track on the CD, but it's still fairly decent and interesting to hear for those who haven't seen this stage show.
"Reflection" is from "Mulan" and I consider it to be possibly be the best track from that movie. Is Mulan is a Disney princess? Well, you can debate that all you want --- I suppose at this point, she's royalty, so I guess she counts.
"Out of Thin Air" is my favorite song "Aladdin and the King of Thieves." Aladdin and Jasmine sing about what it would be like for Aladdin to finally find his father. Jasmine tells Aladdin that he doesn't just come out of thin air. The music on this recalls "A Whole New World" for me.
"Kiss the Girl" is from "The Little Mermaid." It's not my favorite song from that movie --- I would have preferred "Part of Your World." But it'll do all right. And it can't be said that Ariel isn't a Disney princess --- after all, she does marry Prince Eric.
"Once Upon a Dream" is a classic! It's from "Sleeping Beauty." Sure, the little kiddies today may not entirely appreciate this, but I think it's wonderful that they would include a classic like this.
Now, part of the reason for this CD's release was to have a place for the music from the Disney "Cindrella" sequel "Cindrella II." Yes, this is a direct-to-DVD release, but it's a good one. This CD is the only place to find these excellent songs, all performed by Brooke Allison. They also all (except the last one) follow a theme of "being yourself:"
"Follow Your Heart" is about a time when Cinderella was assigned to the preparations for the royal ball. She was given all sorts of instructions, such as not opening the curtains and not inviting commoners in. Finally, she decided to just do things her own way. A lively, upbeat, positive theme.
"The World Is Looking Up To" is about the mouse Jaq and when he decides to become human. Another fun track about being yourself.
"It's What's Inside That Counts" comes from when Cinderella's stepsister Anastasia fell in love. She thought she'd get all dolled up, but learned that she can be loved just for being her.
Finally, "Put It Together" is a wonderfully fun techno remix of the classic "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo." I was surprised this works, but it does, splendidly.
So if you're looking for a Disney CD with great music and are willing to look past any preconceived ideas, then snap this CD up.
Another Repackaging Of Princess Favorites.......2004-04-21
When is Disney ever going to realize that recycling Disney Princess songs aren't such a good idea? As a Disney Princess fan since I was really little I have always enjoyed Disney princess songs. But i am so so so so sick and tired about on just about every Disney album dedicated solely to the Disney Princesses Disney always always ALWAYS has a habit of recycling old princess songs instead of adding new princess songs. I mean people already own half the songs on Princess Favorites and can buy them on the film soundtracks or the Disney princess collection cd. Why I think this cd was released is that Disney was trying to promote the movie Cinderella II Dreams Come True as the songs from that movie are on this cd. But heck one of the songs Put it Together is also on the SUPERSTAR HITS cd. So while this cd may be a redone version of Princess Collection Volume #2 please Please Please PLEASE do not buy,
Thank you very much for your time
Whose Princess Favorites???.......2003-10-15
I would classify only 3 of the songs on this CD as Princess Favorites - Belle, Kiss The Girl and Once Upon A Dream. The rest are either not Princess songs or not favorites.
My daughter is a huge Disney Princess fan, and wants to hear the songs from the Princess movies non-stop. She's only 3, but she does know her princesses, and the girl from Hercules and Nala from the Lion King are definitely NOT princesses! This is also the first time that I've seen Mulan grouped with the princesses.
We wanted music from the classic Disney Princess movies that she loves - Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty & The Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. I do not put Cinderella 2 and Aladdin and the Forty Thieves in that category - were those even released in the theaters, or direct to video?
I am generally a fan of the Disney compilations, but this one feels like a marketing rip-off. Get the Disney Classics 5 CD set if you really want the Princess Favorites - they may be spread out over all the discs, but they are the songs you want to hear!
Save your money!.......2002-04-30
A friend gave this CD to my little girl for her 5th birthday...she was thrilled to get it. The thrill ended as soon as it was played. She wanted to know where the Princesses were.
There is no Ariel...just a song by Sebastian. No Cinderella, no Snow White, and why would they place an unknown song from the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast which only has been heard by the people attending the musical?? At least Sleeping Beauty made the grade. My daughter has the movie Cinderella II which the CD promotes, but is not familiar with them to really enjoy these 4 songs.
Again, save your money...some day maybe Disney will set aside some of their money and marketing hunger and put out a CD that any 5 year old princess will enjoy singing along with...BTW isn't Beauty and the Beast being re-released...oh yea, thats why that endless song about Belle is on there..Bon Jour!

i have all of guy's releases and now i have this one.so far i really enjoy what i'm hearing.aaron's vocals are top-notch.even on his first release.see, r.kelly didn't come on the scene until the early 90's.Aaron hall with guy came out in the late 80's so you know where kelly got his "steez" from.
Bedroom music at its finest @}->---.......2006-05-21
Aaron Hall is more than amazing; he is truly in a legue of his own. He is brilliant and his voice is sexy and silky and smooth. I loved The Truth and reviewed that some time ago, but I think I love this even more. I bought it soon after it first came out and still play it often. It's romantic and sexy and the songs are brilliant. It's hard to narrow the list into my usuall three choices, so I included a fourth. I love All The Places (I Will Kiss You), Move It Girl, Baby I'll Be By Your Side and Don't Rush The Night. These songs can make you weak in the knees.
If you love R&B with a passion and you want to hear a disc with a soulful singer and gorgeous music, then this is for you. I very very highly recommend this one. It's beautiful.
aaron hall.......2003-07-09
aaron hall is the best r&b singer out there. he is in a class by himself. no one can touch him.he speaks the truth and he is very on point.i can relate to alot of what he sings.i listen to his music all the time. when i am happy i listen to aaron. when i am sad i listen to aaron. no one can compete. keep up the good work aaron. cant wait to hear from u again.... a true aaron hall fan.
Aaron "The voice" Hall. R&B for true males.......2002-08-16
I've had this album since late 1998 and have been in love with it ever since. It's sad that true talent doesn't blow up and sell like commercial crap. I don't base succes on record sales after all but on the quality of the package. This album is just that, top quality and nothing less. From track 1 to 14. I've always wondered how he would top "The Truth". I feel he has matched "The Truth" if not surpassing it.
If it's creativity and longevity you're after, Aaron is your man and Inside of you in your album. Good thing about his music is it's timeless. I still bump "The Truth", I don't know of anyone who still plays any of R-Kelly's old albums. Here today, gone tomorrow. Not with Aaron
Long live The King
still going strong.......2001-09-17
This is yet another great album from Hall. He follows up his debut album, "The Truth" wonderfully. Also has remnants of Guy on the album. A must get for any Hall or Guy fan.

Album Description
Originally released in 1996, Are You Sequenced? was recorded live in concert in Derby, Great Britain on the 27th of April 1996 and was edited and remixed by Klaus Schulze that summer. Are You Sequenced? is an amalgamation of analogue sounds played on contemporary nineties equipment with the Schulze flair, with all eleven tracks played as a continuum. The new and definitive Revisited Records version contains the bonus track, Vat Was Dat?, recorded in Hambühren in 1993 and comes packaged in a deluxe digipak with new liner notes and rare photos.
Klaus Schulze first attracted attention as a member of the German progressive rock band, Tangerine Dream. Following the release of their debut LP, Electronic Meditation, he departed for a solo career. Klaus' recorded work typically features extended pieces sometimes filling an entire album built around computer-generated synthesizers and other specially programmed electronic effects. Klaus Schulze remains a cult figure in the United States, where the bulk of his prolific output has until now been available only through the import bins. He is widely considered an avant-garde mainstay as well as a founding father of both the new-age space music and electronica genres.

Album Description
With a career that spans nearly 25 years, IQ remains one of the biggest names in the world of Progressive Rock. Getting their start in Southhampton England back in 1981, IQ was often compared to two other great Prog bands from the UK, Marillion and Genesis. For years the band struggled to create their own identity. And they did so by outlasting the glory days of Fish's Marillion and Gabriel's Genesis. Here again is IQ with their classic line-up of Peter Nicholls, Martin Orford, Mike Holmes, John Jowitt and Paul Cook.
Originally released in 1989, Are You Sitting Comfortably? features Paul Menel on vocals, coalescing in Britain's foremost prog rock groups since the '80s. There is not a bad track on this album; lush soundscapes, thought provoking lyrics, brilliant musicianship, it's all here. Take a chance on this one, it is a classic and well worth investing in!

IQ - Major Label Album One Of Their Weakest.......2007-05-25
The IQ story is a strange one. One would have thought that if the band was going to be picked up by a major label that it would have happened after "The Wake". Instead the band changes lead singers, put out the moderately received "Nomzamo" album, and then get picked up by a major. However it happened, apparently IQ had made enough of a splash for PolyGram to take a shot at them for this album. Unfortunately record company pressure to have a "hit" would plague much of the material on this disc. The album is an obvious attempt at a more commercial sound and radio airplay. The album was produced by Terry Brown, best known for his work with Rush. Paul Menel is still on the vocal mike for this one along with the rest of the original band. To my ears this is IQ's weakest album. That being said I don't think IQ has ever made what I would consider a bad album, and there is some good stuff to be found here. The two long proggy tracks are both good ones with "Nostalgia / Falling Apart At the Seams" being the highlight. The other one "Wunensh" is good, but pales in comparison to some of the epics on other IQ discs. Of the shorter songs the opener "War Heroes" is great, and although it may be the most commercial song IQ has ever done, whenever I listen to "Sold On You' I can't get the chorus out of my head for days. The rest of the album is pretty weak. It is my least favorite IQ disc, but about half of it is worth a listen. Of the two Paul Menel albums I think that "Nomzamo" is by far the best.
Excellent.......2007-01-05
This CD is an excellent sample of the high quality music IQ makes. It has all, excellent lyrics and the instrumentals are phenomenal. I recommend it very much.
Eventhough it's poppy, it's still great PROG.......2006-11-02
Starting with War Heroes and Drive On , this is classic 80's prog when prog wasn't in fashion. Terry Brown of the Rush fame does a great job capturing IQ at their finest. Nostalgia and Falling apart at the Seams are classic prog as is Wurensh. There are some poppy tunes but these songs are way better than the mess on the radio at the time. I really like Sold on You and Nothing at All. All hail IQ. All hail IQ!!
Blimey Kirk.......2005-07-31
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but AYSC is not in the same league as Seventh House. AYSC is an OK album. It does have two excellent long tracks, a couple of turkeys, and some in between. Polished production. This was a treading water album really. I suspect they might have split up, had Menel not left to allow Nichols to rejoin.
Excellent 80s Progressive Rock.......2005-07-16
IQ is one of the best post-70s progressive rock bands; if you like Genesis and Yes, you'll like IQ.
And "Are You Sitting Comfortably?" is a worthy addition to their catalogue. For starters, it's got 2 extended, kick-*ss prog tracks: the brooding, then exhilarating Nostalgia/Falling Apart at the Seams (clocking in at over 10 minutes) and the driving, multi-part suite Wurensh (9:37). War Heroes (6:26) is another atmospheric track similar to mid-period Genesis.
Then it's got the fun prog pop of Drive On and the romantic Through My Fingers. The only two weak tracks are the overly simplistic Sold On You and the forgettable Nothing At All.
Add in great production from Terry Brown of Rush fame, and you've got an excellent IQ album.
The album is usually underrated by IQ fans, but I feel it's better than Nomzamo (too commercial), Tales From the Lush Attic (poorly produced) and even The Seventh House (poorly written - I swear I can't remember a melody from that album!)
If you like post-70s prog, in particular mid-period Genesis and 80s Yes, you'll enjoy this album.
