A Classic Album.......2004-04-23
I first heard this by chance in a soul music shop and had to ask who it was. It was someone I'd never heard of
These are apparently demos for other artists - several are for female singers and so we have the unusual sound of a guy singing a girls' song - but it works tremendously well
So often you read about undiscovered masterpieces and generally speaking they turn out to be a disappointment. This is a notable exception. It's hard to place this in terms of genre because he is very much his own man, so I would say it is very much an album literally full of music (count the tracks) which all sound like classic soul cuts
I have to say, however, that the title track is the only cut I don't like and seems to these ears at least out of keeping with the rest of the songs
Listen to the samples - I can't believe that this music is so obscure. The album is a classic
