Solid EP from Calobo frontman..........2005-04-07

I have all of Calobo's studio albums but am just now getting David Andrews' solo work. This EP is actually from 1996, while Calobo was still together, and features Andrews' trademark guitar melodies and vocal harmonies. Warm, engaging and intimate songwriting, mostly mid-tempo, but very satisfying. Recommended.

This CD is the Japanese version of the Destiny's Child single, "Emotion". However, I would not recommend this to someone only mildly interested in the group. This is not because the CD is unoriginal or bad, because the opposite is true. The tracks include the album version of the song (meaning the one they did on their disc Survivor), the maurices New Soul Mix (a remix with redone vocals from the three ladies and funky instrumentation to back them up), the Instrumental (which is just the same as the album version with a slight, not-so-subtle alteration: no vocals), and the a capella version, which of course just has no music behind it. The latter is my favorite, because it really showcases the girls' gorgeous harmonies, and proves that each is a strong singer, even without an accompaniment. I know it's expensive, and again, if you're not really that big of a DC fan, this probably isn't what you're looking for. I would buy their album Survivor, which has this song on it and many more.
