Excellent compilation of hidden gems........2003-11-20

All That really IS all that. "Back to Broke" is an AMAZING song, with a fantastic jam in the middle where every horn goes off in there own direction at once, staying in harmony with each other, and then falling back in line in a manner that sounds effortless (for them, anyway. I can't keep up with all of it, and I'm just listening in awe and wonder).

The album makes me smile, lifts my mood, taps my toes, shakes my booty. It is a great disc for any party - it is well nigh impossible to be boring, melodramatic or hostile while listening to Galactica. I am saddened that I don't have more work by these individual bands.

If you like funk, you'll find this album a worthwhile addition to your collection. This is N.O. funk, which means it has more emphasis on horns and jazz than Parlaiment, and less mass market appeal than Earth Wind & Fire. In short, this is pure funk, the best funk, the funk you need.
