It's almost impossible to breathe the name "Mary J. Blige" without coupling it with loaded phrases like "difficult diva" and "queen of hip-hop soul." But if you get past the prickly facade Blige often presents to the press--who can forget her infamous interview turned potential catfight with Veronica Webb?--it's the tag of royalty that counts. This collection of 23 tracks culled from various stops on her Share My World tour is the perfect sample of her highness's indisputable talent and a reminder that unlike many in her field, she is a powerhouse performer, not merely a studio puppet. The hits span her three studio albums, and while some cuts barely reach the two- minute mark, her renderings of favorites like "Real Love," "I'm Goin' Down," and "Mary Jane" more than make up for them. True to form, she also revives a couple of other classics--Aretha Franklin's "Daydreaming" and Dorothy Moore's "Misty Blue." The Tour is both a great introduction for the uninitiated and an essential addition to the canon. --Rebecca Wallwork

The busy arrangements threaten to overwhelm, but her raw voice pumps out so much emotion it makes the glitz seem insignificant.

The album feels even more like a collection of singles (instead of an actual movie soundtrack) than Help! or A Hard Day's Night, but maybe that's because every song sounds like it could have been a hit single--with the natural exception of the goofy/weird instrumental "Flying." Even George's "Blue Jay Way" paints a vivid sound-portrait in fascinating detail. (I consider Joni Mitchell's "Car on the Hill" from Court and Spark to be a companion piece about sitting in the Hollywood Hills, waiting for somebody to show up.) And although the goofy TV movie may have been mostly Paul's baby, this album features the two 45 rpm masterpieces that sum up the quintessential best of Lennon and McCartney at this stage of their development: Paul's "Penny Lane" and John's "I Am the Walrus." --Jim Emerson

Can It Get Any Better?.......2007-06-27
Instant Classic is an overused cliche', but it describes this CD accurately. This CD is a must for any Beatle fan. It continues to show the Beatles were leaders in creative song writing and production, taking studio work to a whole different level.
The most 'out there' Beatle's album........2007-06-14
This is the first Beatles album I knew. Got it on 8-track. I knew of their earlier songs first, though I never owned any albums. I was 14 at the time and fell in love with this album. I loved every single song on it, not one was deficient. Then my 8-track was eaten by the machine. I didn't buy it again until just a week ago. In the mean time, I bought Sgt. Peppers, Abbey Road, and The White Album, all of which are masterpieces. All of them are so different from each other as well, each having their own personality, if you will. Well, after not having the Magical Mystery Tour for 20 years, I was pleasantly surprised that I remembered every tune. What I didn't remember was the deep psychedelia that pervaded the album. This album is both light (Your Mother Should Know, Fool on the Hill, All You Need Is Love, Baby You're a Rich Man, Penny Lane, Hello Goodbye), and dark (Strawberry Fields Forever, I Am the Walrus, Flying, Blue Jay Way, and the opener - Magical Mystery Tour). Very unique sounds on this album, and quite cool that it happened 40 years ago. Even Trent Reznor, a master in his own right owes a lot to this album. Cheers!!!
great album, perhaps, one day, a deluxe edition with full booklet. .......2007-06-05
This recording (40 Years old now, wow, who would believe 1967-2007) is one of the Beatles most interesting recordings. Featuring hits like Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, I Am The Walrus, and some interesting work from the late George Harrison, Blue Jay Way, it serves as testament of how the Beatles were trying new things. One possible improvement (as if there could be) a "deluxe" edition, which would feature a miniature reproduction of the album booklet (in its entirety), featuring additional pictures and so on. Otherwise fine recording. Recommended also: Rubber Soul (which I also bought with this and generally all of the Beatles catalog[ue] [as it's spelled in England]).
part two of sgt peppers another trippy album.......2007-06-03
This is the part two of, 'Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band', this has the same amount of Psychedellic Trippy music as does, 'Sgt. Peppers', except this album has maybe even more. This is a very good example of what kind of music people were listening to back during The Summer Of Love 1967. Great great album it's a true example of Trippy Psychedellic Rock. This is a great album if you don't have any access to this album buy it today, if you dig Psychedellic Rock. If you do dig that you won't be mad you bought it.
Still Magical... All these years later..........2007-05-28
I still love this album as much as I have since I heard it as a pre-teen. Though I have grown to appreciate Abbey Road and Sgt. Peppers as being greater albums, I can still spend many an hours listening to the fantastic songs on this album. There is a great feel to this album. It features lovely and uplifting songs from Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, to All You Need is Love. For me, when it comes to great albums/CDs, all you need is the Beatles.

The world can't get enough of Madonna, and with CD/DVD sets like The Confessions Tour dropping regularly, it's little wonder why. As a thrower of fantasy dance parties, she is peerless. As a physical role model for the 40-ish women who grew up on her music, she rules. And as an arbiter of what's going to sound shockingly original in any given decade--well, duh. The Confessions Tour rounds up songs from way back--"Ray of Light" and "La Isla Bonita" make the DVD, and "Lucky Star" and "Like a Virgin" are on the CD as well as the DVD--but this concert, filmed in 2006 at London's Wembley Arena, aims its sturdiest spotlight on Confessions on a Dance Floor, Madge's 2005 disco disc. You could argue, then, that unless you're in it for the sheer DVD spectacle (and what a spectacle it is), there's no sense in owning this package. Only you wouldn't be right. Because as any on-the-ball Madonna fan knows, what she's doing musically is telling a story--you may already know the characters, but that doesn't mean she hasn't completely reworked the plot. To that end, "I Love New York" gets its rock on, "Let It Will Be" has a musical temper tantrum, and "Hung Up" goes for the drama queen award. You've heard these songs before, but you've never heard them quite like this, to borrow a bad informercial phrase. As twisted and hopped-up as they've become, they're all worth getting to know again. --Tammy La Gorce

She does it again!.......2007-07-18
The Confessions Tour - Live from London is other fabulous concert from our dear Madge. Some of my favorites from the concert include: Live to Tell, Jump, Like a Virgin, Ray of Light, I Love New York, Let it Will Be, and La Isla Bonita. Madonna never disappoints, she always delivers a strong show no matter if she's performing new songs or classics. My favorite theme is probably the equestrian act. This item also comes with a bonus CD. I highly recommend checking The Confessions Tour out. It's worth the money. Enjoy!
Best Madonna Ever.......2007-07-12
This is my favorite Madonna Concert ever. My favorite performance are future lovers, La Isla bonita, and Erotica ( best erotica mix ever) and of course Like a Virgin. Madonna showed alot of energy and showed how creative and original she always is. I cant stop watching it. Madonna Definetly is the Queen of Music.
The Confessions Tour, Live from London.......2007-07-05
Wow I pre orderded befor it was available in stores and actually got it the day before general distribution, A great DVD, don't care much for CD's I listen to satelite radio most of the time
The Evolution of Madonna : Pink Elephants & Lemonade.......2007-06-26
Its ironic that Madonna's better stage performances are all coming late in her career. "The Confessions Tour" is by far her most artistic, musically challenging and diverse concert tour, and this package only serves to reiterate what an astounding talent she is. This review is primarily for the DVD, as the CD is just the audio of the DVD ripped anyway.
Think about this - what other 48 year old do you know who can perform aerobic dancing, sing simultaneously, and hold a note, all while wearing a bikini! Well, I certainly don't know anyone like that, and what is perhaps most astounding is just how classy the entire act is, even through the admittedly sexually charged bits.
The best thing on this 2.5 hour extravaganza is "Erotica", a completely reworked version (in actuality, Madonna sings the original version of `Erotica' she intended for release - with the lyrics of a track called "You Thrill Me"). My favorite part is the last four-song segment, where Madonna introduces her `Disco' persona. Her backup dancers as ever, defy gravity and are good-looking to boot. One dancer in particular stands out - a skinny long haired young man who is as flexible as a rubber band. However, "Erotica" has never looked so good in any of its' avatars, and I thought this version left the studio recording light years behind - its that good.
This is also the first Madonna concert to feature so much dancing. Madonna actually dances frenetically to many numbers, including a highly stylized and choreographed routine with two female backup dancers to "Music". There is also a special feature segment that shows her practicing this - unbelievable. I have had so many friends who were dancers in their 20s who didn't move like this. I still cannot believe this is a woman pushing 50.
Above all, there is the music. Tracks that seemed weak on the "Confessions" studio album, are made more accessible here. "Get Together" which I always used to skip, becomes a keeper. Similarly, weak track "Jump" is actually listenable on this one. Some of the more interesting portions of the concert involve Madonna's friend "Isaac" (who even wears a turban at one point). I thought this was Mirwais, but I could be wrong. Unfortunately, when she tries to make this concert `spiritual' or `soulful', it begins to unravel. They should have just kept this entire concert upbeat and energetic.
No review would be complete without telling you the downsides of the product, and there are three here. One is the godawful version of "Isaac" that Madonna tries to pull off here. This is a poor second cousin to "Frozen", with a similar `Eastern' tinge to it (I could see where they were going with this one, but it just doesn't work). This is followed by a dreary rendition of "Drowned World" (possibly Madonna's greatest ballad), which is followed by the hideous "Paradise (Not for Me)" (which is a beautiful song, but Isaac and Madonna ruin it beyond recognition here). This should be seen to be believed. How they could massacre a simple melody like this is beyond me.
However, we're back in action with singalong versions of "Hung Up" (including a four minute shout-out/call-back to the audience where Madonna asks them to repeat "Time goes back, so slowly" in her infamously fake British accent), and "Sorry" (which has Madonna kissing one of her female dancers, and some amount of funky dancing).
Madonna sometimes exits the stage every now and then, whereupon her dancers take the spotlight and dance to a variety of Madonna collages and flash images. This is not necessarily a good thing - in fact, its downright boring. However, the `special features' on the disc, aren't really special at all. In fact, they are at best footage of Madonna rehearsing, with a tremendous amount of time spent on her dancers waxing about her in French accents ("I can't believe I'm really here", "Oh My God, I'm dancing for Madonna!", and "This is a once in a lifetime experience!" etc.). Nothing out of the ordinary, and certainly nothing to write home about. But the great thing about these is watching Madonna actually dance. Without the makeup she sports on stage, she looks much, much older, and quite tired and haggard, but who can blame her, poor thing?
All in all, this is a must-buy, even if you're not really a Madonna fan. I'm sort of neutral about her, but if I consider that I like this much more than some of the Rock DVDs I have in my collection, then Madonna must have done something right. This is a fabulous, colorful and very entertaining concert, and no one I know has ever regretted purchasing this. Yes, its very `pink' and targeted towards a gay audience in so many subliminal ways, but no matter what your demographic, theres no way you can not enjoy the sheer fun this is. Get it now!
A celebration of a great comeback!.......2007-06-26
Thank you, Madonna, for actually allowing the UNEDITED version of this great concert to make it to DVD...along with an excellent CD for jamming to in the car! I attempted to watch the NBC special and it was so cut up, it gave me a headache! I had went last July to Philadelphia to see this concert live...so it was great to see it on TV....but the editing was so horrible...I just had to turn the channel. The DVD, however, is a bit better, and it is great to be able to relive the concert over again from the comforts of my living room. All of the songs are great....and of course my favorites "Jump" and "Sorry" were the best (to me). I especially loved hearing the Pet Shop Boys (another one of my favorite groups) on "Sorry"...and that cool remix! I hope Madonna's next album is as good, or not better, than Confessions. There's no one better on the dancefloor than Madonna!

Recorded during their controversial 2003 tour, these two discs romp through an ample sampling of hits ("Wide Open Spaces," "There's Your Trouble," "Goodbye Earl," "Travelin' Soldier") as well as beloved album cuts ("Hello Mr. Heartache," "Some Days You Gotta Dance"). Twangy and cheeky all the way, the group rides an energy wave that continues through the stunning two-song encore of "Top of the World" and "Sin Wagon." Yet as powerful as the full-band performances are, the trio's true essence emerges during the acoustic moments--"White Trash Wedding," "Ready to Run," and "Lil' Jack Slade" among them--as well as the Texas shuffler "Hello Mr. Heartache." Some acts might have tried to gloss over a flap like the one Natalie Maines's anti-Bush administration remarks caused. Not here. Patty Griffin's "Truth No. 2" (from the Chicks' Home album) faces that issue head-on. But beyond the political tempests--and Music Row's still-bruised feelings over their contractual firefights with their label--this collection affirms one truth: the Chicks remain the best hope of bringing country into the 21st century with postmodern vitality and its traditions intact. --Rich Kienzle

Top of the world ~ views from all sides.......2007-04-14
Regardless if you love or hate what natalie had to say about Bush. Your can never say these ladies dont have guts and the sure will to not ever play nice. Natalie and the dixie chicks may never play nice. Strong will's in country music dont come around much. The music on this audio cd is strong, full or spite, to the point and in your face. Why hide the fact you live in a free country. Where as of today, Bush still hasnt taken away our right to free speech. The songs are all chart burners and a wonderful full range of musically talented songs.
Chicks On Top of the World.......2007-04-11
I'm new to the Dixie Chicks, but they have become one of my top artists. First I got "Long Way Home" and like it so well that I rented the Top of the World tour video. Then I had to have the CD. This is a great CD.
Try it, you'll like it.
Anti- Americans.......2007-04-05
Don't Buy they are anti american and do not support our troops who give them the freedom of living in the USA
THEY SURE CAN SING BUT CAN THEY REALLY PLAY?.......2007-03-23
This is my first Dixie Chicks purchase. Just wanted to check them out. I've only seen random clips on television. They choose decent tunes to play. Although I'm a little confused as to their purpose. The instruments they play - guitar, fiddle, and banjo - that's Old Time string band instruments; many Old Time Music and bluegrass bands have the exact same instrumentation. However, the Chicks don't play any traditional tunes. They are more of a straight ahead Nashville Pop/Country singing group. Yes, they hold and play their instruments, and I'm sure they're good players, but you can't really tell by this recording - I couldn't hear much of the banjo, and the fiddler is pretty good. I guess the only way to tell is if they ever got bold enough to make a recording with just them playing and singing.
Their tour had an army of additional musicians in support.
They sure can sing, though. The harmonies are unbelievably good.
If you are interested in a really good all female group who are excellent musicians and singers who sing a mix of traditional tunes and original tunes, check out UNCLE EARL. Their newest release is produced by former Led Zep bassist John Paul Jones, who has developed a fascination with traditional American music, even going as far as learning how to play the fiddle. Uncle Earl's latest is titled Waterloo Tennessee and is available right here on Amazon.
Live and let LIVE.......2007-02-16
The best gauge to hear a performer or a group is live in concert (or a cd of the concert( Think KISS live or KISS UNPLUGGED are great examples of how good live is). A friend gave me a copy of this Dixie Chicks CD as an early birthday gift, after they won the Grammies.
This 2002 concert is a great showcase for the Chicks. Listening to them on this CD, I feel like I am in the middle of the concert in the best seats in the house.
The production quality is great. The chicks are in fine form and this CD concert is a proof that the grammies wins are no fluke.
I want more of their CDS now

Luciano Pavrotti: The Best (Farewell Tour).......2007-06-27
Wonderful Pavarotti sings the best of the best. His voice never ceases to amaze me. Listening pleasure at it's finest.
Luciano Pavorotti.......2007-02-17
All the songs are wonderful, can never become tired of listening to his songs. Excellent.
Luciano is the best!.......2007-01-20
I can't speak more highly of this collection of Pavrotti's songs. I keep this two CD pack in my car so I can enjoy it on my way to and from work. Even after I have arrived, I find myself sitting in my car waiting for a song to end. Walking out on a song seems sacriligious. While I grew up listening to Caruso and Lanza, there is no question that Pavrotti is the Master! Although, I do have to admit Pavrotti has the greater advantage of modern recording technology to better present his talent than Caruso and Lanza had. However, Lanza definitely didn't have the power that Pavrotti has. With Caruso, we will never know... I highly recommend this collection of Pavrotti's, if you are a Pavrotti fan. If you aren't, buy it anyway and become one:)

It's a delirious treat, watching the full weight of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds open their November 2004 Brixton Academy gig with the menacing thwack of "Hiding All Away," as they do on the first of two DVDs in this live mega-set. They're swept away, Cave and his mates--Warren Ellis and Mick Harvey and the keyboardists and drummers and background singers. Feet stomp, hair flies, the sounds wallop. Without Blixa Bargeld for the first time, the Bad Seeds have a gospel-tinged bigness, an urgent intensity. The multicamera DVD shots are brilliant, the sound impeccable. Of course that last bit is all that matters on the pair of CDs that round out this set, and they sound phenomenal. Cave knows drama, from the lyrics to the vocal bellow to the full-on unrelenting orchestral power of a guitar, a bass, a violin, a couple keyboards, and a couple drummers--backed by four ingeniously true-to-form backup vocalists. If you've even a passing interest in the ecstasy of live musical abandon, this is a necessary indulgence. If you're a Cave fan, you won't be able to get enough. --Andrew Bartlett
Album Description
THE ABATTOIR BLUES TOUR features songs from critically acclaimed 2004 double album ABATTOIR BLUES / THE LYRE OF ORPHEUS, plus an array of classic material from the band's repertoire. The 2 CDs contain live recordings from various dates on the 2004 "Abattoir Blues" tour. The 2 DVDs contain footage from two live concerts: first disc taken from one of the bands' 3 sold out "Abattoir Blues" concerts at London's Brixton Academy (November 11th 2004); second disc offers excerpts from London's Hammersmith Apollo show filmed during 2003 "Nocturama" tour. The DVDs also include all the promotional videos from the last two albums, plus special bonus behind the scenes footage of the "Bring It On" video.
Customer Reviews:
Cave's Best DVD to Date.......2007-07-24
Since I became a Nick Cave fan some years back and have had the good fortune to see him live several times, I haven't been able to get enough of his music. So as soon as Abattoir Blues Tour came to my attention, I ordered my copy.
Well, OK, the songs presented here are mostly from the Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus double CD so you may wonder why you need to own this as well. The answer is that the quality of the DVDs and the power of the live performances make this nearly essential for any hard-core fan of Nick Cave. What I like about it best are that the performances are not taken from just one show, but shows done on different days and in different moods all over Europe.
On the sonic side, my favorites are mostly older cuts but also a couple I really like from the album being toured. Disc one favorites include Red Right Hand, The Ship Song, and The Weeping Song. On Disc two, I most enjoy Carry Me, Easy Money, God Is In The House (you'll notice he's dropped a verse), and the morbidly humorous Lay Me Low.
As for the DVDs, the first disc best brings to life Easy Money, Nature Boy, and Carry Me. Though I like Stagger Lee, I didn't particularly like the rendition here. The second DVD not only has great live renditions of Bring It On, Breathless, and Christina The Astonishing, but also some entertaining though sometimes cheesy promotional video footage. My favorite is the promo for Bring It On.
I own all other previous Cave DVDs and this one is the best yet. Though in common with some other reviewers I would like to have seen more of his back catalogue covered, I think that fans are lucky at this price to get as much as is offered here. It isn't enough however to get just the DVD. For the low price asked you would be foolish not to get this dual CD/DVD set. Order it now while it is still available.
Great disc set.......2007-05-25
The CDs and DVD's were awesome. Great music and video. Had a skip on one disc, but other than that quality was great and nicely packaged. Got Grinderman CD afterwards and still a Nick Cave fan bigtime.
Next Best Thing.......2007-05-14
A Nick Cave live show has so much raw intensity, grit, strength and emotion that it is awfully difficult to imagine capturing it on any recording medium. This set does its level best to record and share all that is involved in the experience of a live Cave show and, like some of the past video efforts, provides some rare behind-the-scenes footage of this very private, tortured artist (who just happens to be the greatest songwriter alive today, in my humble opinion). We in North America have been a bit neglected of late by Mr. Cave, but for those of us who can't afford to travel to see this phenomenal performance, at least we can still see what his live shows offer today, without the dancing, sweat and ringing ears...
Wall of sound?.......2007-05-13
In all due respect to Phil Spector, screw him! The amazing layered sound Nick Cave and his cohorts have created since the Nocturama album has just gotten more and more nuanced and blown apart. This CD and DVD set is a must for any fan of Nick or just simple damn rock'n'roll. No one else even comes close to this pure musical experience. And then there's Grinderman...
More later..................
What a deal!.......2007-04-19
As fans know, Nick Cave didn't tour Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus in America. Too bad because it's some of his strongest material. I saw him when he was in Seattle touring No More Shall We Part and it was one of the best concert experiences of my life. He's an incredible performer and the Bad Seeds are a great band.
This is 2 DVDs and 2 CDs for about $27. The quality of the contents will not disappoint anyone. It's not quite the same as being there live but it's very good and its the best we're going to get until he decides to tour America again.

Titus rocks!.......2007-07-27
Titus is a highly underrated performer. his television show should have NEVER been cancelled! in this comedy special he has a way of talking about real and seious issues and making you laugh about them. he does it without undermining the issues.
Intelligent Comedy .......2007-07-11
This is comedy at its best, comedy like you rarely experience today. It's intelligent, edgy, yet often touching. I found myself on the verge of tears a couple of times, then laughing out loud the next. Titus has brilliant comedic timing, and he has a gift for making the desperately serious funny. An amazing, unique comedic talent, Titus leaves you laughing AND thinking.
Awsome .......2007-06-26
I only wish this was dvd instead of cd. I think Christopher Titus should still have a show. I'd love to see more performances.
More of what you'd expect from Chris Titus.......2007-06-13
I was a huge fan of the Titus show on Fox and was happy to hear him on the Opie and Anthony show a few months back. So when I found this new release I immediately bought it. The 2 disc set is exactly what you'd expect from Titus, hilarious mixed in with the all too real. I could go on and on and explain everything I feel about the CD but I'll just say buy it and love it.
I saw it live and still laughed myself to tears.......2007-06-12
I had the good fortune to hear this material live first. During that performance I was barely able to take a sip of my drink between helpless laughter and spellbinding social commentary.
Hearing it again in my car I nearly had to pull over because I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. This performance ranks right up there with his "Norman Rockwell is Bleeding" performance, which was the basis for his series on Fox.
Christopher Titus is one of the best comics of our time. Don't miss this album.

Customer Reviews:
I have GOT to see these guys live someday..........2007-07-24
Okay, I'll start with the bad stuff. It sounds like one of the violinists in the orchestra is out of tune. And John Petrucci's backing vocals are simply awful; I've yet to hear a live DT recording where he stayed on key. OTOH, I can live with that because it's one of those little things that markes this album as a live recording. The backing vocals aren't coming from a tape, they're coming from actual humans.
But overall, this is a great set. The live Dream Theater is every bit as tight as the same band in the studio. The second and third discs, with the backing of the orchestra, sound great as well, although "Metropolis Pt. 1" sounds a little cluttered in spots. While I could complain that a few of my favorite tracks are not in this set, I won't; how many live versions of "Pull Me Under" or "A Change of Seasons" do they really need to record? ;)
This is definitely a great set, and one of the best live albums I've heard in years.
VERY DISAPPOINTED.......2007-05-26
3 DISC SET..1 DECENT CD..2 CRAPPY CD'S..THEY COULD HAVE @ SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALOT BETTER !!!!!!!!!!!!
Blown away.......2007-04-29
This is the first Dream Theater record I ever heard and I couldn't believe how blown away I was with it. I popped the first CD in the car and listened to the first 2 songs and couldn't believe the quality of music so I went back and listened to the first 2 songs again. The same thing happened after I listened to 'Afterlife' (track 4) -- I went back to the beginning and listened to the first 4 songs again. It took about a week before I even got to the second CD.
The second CD is the 41 epic tune, 'six degrees of inner turbulence. A song about, well, the inner turbulence of life. There is a spot around the 15 minute mark where I find it too dissonant, and there is an instrument in the orchestra that is flat, but this is a very weak criticism for a absolute work of art including the fantastic 'solitary shell' and powerful climax.
The find the 3rd CD ok but not anywhere near the first 2. Octivarium takes too long to get going and 'Metropolis' starts out so promising but the wonderful keyboard riff that kicks off the song is drowned out in the dissonance.
The keys are great, the guitar playing is great, the percussion is great and the vocals are out of this world outstanding.
One of the top 3 live albums off all time on my list along with Iron Maiden's "Live after Death" and Rush's "All the Worlds a Stage."
A fantastic live recording.......2007-04-06
Simply put, this may be the best collaboration between a heavy metal rock band with an orchestra that has ever been recorded. Separation of sound is very difficult to achieve when you are dealing with high volume but here the engineers manage to pull it off exceedingly well. If you don't know about this group by now then this is as good an introduction as you will find. If you are a fan then you will appreciate the excitement that the live audience adds to the band's performances even if you know most of the songs by heart. If you can't appreciate how incredibly good these musicians are then you have my condolences.
10 stars!.......2007-04-03
Awsome, great set list. Performance Flawless!
The whole group do a great job (like always) and the orchestra does fantastic following the whole six degrees album (side 2) and octivarium and metropolis and more! They do their classics great! Buy this, and if you dont know about Dream Theater... Your world will change, proceed to buy all their albums :)

So Cheetah-licious.......2007-07-20
Even though Raven-Symone isnt with the group, The Cheetah Girls still manage to go through and make this tour "The Party's Just Begun: In Concert," great. It's all recorded live, and they sound great together. Look out for their new studio album, featuring "BRING IT ON," which is featured on Disney Channel Summer Games.
A Good Reminder of Going to the Cheetah Concert.......2007-07-10
This CD is recorded live at a Cheetah Girls concert--so it makes a nice collector's item for those who attended this last year. There's only one new song ("Falling for You"). They sing all the hits from the two movies.
The sound quality isn't fantastic with some very hallow-sounding microphones. Plus the fact that Raven-Symone isn't singing with the group means that the sound in the live concert is a bit different from the movie soundtracks. But this album is successful at what it's meant to be--a recording of a live concert where people can relive the experience.

The Living Room Tour, a live double disc named for its spare instrumentation, arrives so well coated in the Hall of Famer's particular brand of populist, listener-loving pixie dust you half expect it to leave a glowing, sticky residue on your fingers. Radiating the maternal warmth and honesty that translated Tapestry into a 25-million seller, King sprawls comfortably (aided, probably, by the couches and coffee tables hauled onstage for these shows) into favorites like "Jazzman," "So Far Away," and "I Feel the Earth Move." Older songs made famous by other artists, including "Take Good Care of My Baby," "One Fine Day," and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," get an unfortunate, yet effective, slice-and-dice medley treatment. Carole King devotees won't find a lot of reviews that overlook the minor vocal flaws on this latest outing, but a barrel of bum notes couldn't keep the 63-year-old legend from connecting with an audience. The intimacy-to-the-masses approach of this tour suits the early-'70s earth mother material best, and intermingled with a few recent songs, the mix soothes, reassures, and satisfies. If you haven't listened to King in a while, it's not too late, baby. --Tammy La Gorce

Album Description
No one performs Carole King's classic songs better than she does. King draws from her entire, 40-plus year career, from her early hits with Gerry Goffin to her Tapestry-era masterworks, from recent recordings to overlooked gems. Disc one of The Living Room Tour ends with a show-stopping medley of songs King wrote with Goffin, songs that became the soundtrack of a generation in the 1960s. The album offers two new tunes: the opening "Welcome To My Living Room" and the tender "Loving You Forever," a duet co-written with guitarist / vocalist Gary Burr, which opens the second set. She is also joined by album co-producer and guitarist Rudy Guess, who together with Burr, add vocals and textured acoustic touches on many of the album's songs.
Customer Reviews:
You don't realize how much Carole King has influenced the scene til you listen to her sing her own work.......2007-06-23
Is this the best of her work? It's all fabulous, let me tell you, but I have hope that the best is still yet to come. This CD proves she's still out there and she's still working.
I listen to this music and think how many moments has her music been with us even subconsciously? "Pleasant Valley Sunday" reminds me so much of a neighborhood I once lived in with the garage band down the street and the lawn-of-the-month wars between the neighbors on either side of me.
Oh yeah, and I heard "I'm into something good" the first time I saw my first crush. And "Natural Woman" was my favorite song for years...just how many artists have covered this song?
This is the music a lot of us grew up with. I believe it will be around for a long time, but honestly, nobody does it like Carole King.
Where's The DVD??????.......2007-06-12
This is a spectacular "Living Room" show from Carole King. One of the finest singer-songwriters of our time. It goes without saying that this is a concert I would really have loved to see.
I guess my point here is really a question? Why didn't they film this? If they did.........please release it on DVD.
Nobody DID it better................2007-06-12
Someone is going to accuse me of writing this because I disagree with Carole King's politics. I do, but music and politics should have nothing to do with each other. See my review of "Tapestry".
A story is told that may be apocryphal, since it has been told about more than one lady...someone goes up to an aging Opera Diva and says "Madame ****, it must be terrible for such a great singer to realize you've lost your voice". The wise lady replies "Oh, no...what would be terrible would be if I DIDN'T realize it".
Listining to this album made me think of watching Willie Mays play for the Mets in 1973, or of the last few times Arnold Palmer played The Masters. Oh, the songs are as great as ever, and Carole's ability to connect with an audience remains fabulous. And, disc two does sound better than disc one. Still................
If you're a BIG FAN [like me] who just has to have all of Carole King's records, get this. It does have some wonderful moments. But if you only want one, or if you're just discovering the voice of my generation, get "Tapestry". THAT album will remain perfect forever.
oh baby.......2007-06-11
ok i'm a boomer and own tapestry. this is a version of carole king that has aged along with us boomer fans and it's great. fun, relaxed, beautiful. she has got to be the greatest songwriter of my lifetime, and to my tastes, an equally good singer and performer. love it.
Time passages.......2007-03-09
Listening to Carole's latest recording release is just so warming to the heart and soul. She brings you back to such fine memories of our childhood to adulthood compositions. Her voice is still outstanding, the only disappointment was not being in the living room with her to see this wonderful artist track through her career. Buy it.... you will not be sorry!

20 Stars on a scale of 1 to 5.......2006-07-24
To get right to the point, I consider this to be the greatest rock and roll album ever recorded. It is worth remembering that portions of this album were recorded live in Northern Ireland right in the middle of the "troubles." Most touring acts wouldn't even go near this area at the time because of the constant threat of violence. Consequently the audiences got to see few shows and were no doubt starved for some real rock & roll. Since Rory was first and foremost a live performer who fed off the energy of a crowd, the performances captured on this album are amazing for the passionate interplay and raw power of Rory's singing and playing (particularly his slide guitar playing.) Rory's band (Gerry McAvoy - bass, Rod D'Ath - drums, Lou Martin - piano) is tight as a drum and match his intensity---just listen to the absolutely jaw-dropping "Walk On Hot Coals," which to me has always been the absolute pinnacle of improvisational rock and roll playing. One thing I have always wondered, since this album was supposedly recorded at several locations on the same tour, is if the COMPLETE recordings still exist of the various shows that were taped? If only...
One of the best guitar albums of all time.......2006-07-23
I have been a guitarist my whole life and I listen to all the greats in blues, jazz, and rock and Rory Gallagher is probably the best guitarist to date...with the exception of Mike Bloomfield. Although guitarists like Clapton and Hendrix have contributed to the evolution of rock n roll guitar and its textural sound, Rory Gallagher is a better guitarist than both. Rory is much more fluent in roots music like blues, folk, celtic, and rock than that of Hendrix and Clapton. Rory's live performances dworf that of Hendrix and Clapton. If you are looking for a rock album that will knock your socks off...purchase Rory's Irish Tour album. It will show you exactly what I'm talking about. Another masterpiece is Live in Europe. Trust me, you will wonder why he wasn't more popular..which is still a mystery. Oh, by the way, you do not nee dto be a guitarist to love Rory...my best friend is not a musician at all and loves the guy.
Great Irish Rock-Rory, King of Ireland.......2006-07-10
This is a terrific live recording of a much under rated artist whose life was cut short by abuse like so many. I would recommend this and Live At Montreux for any fan of Rory and just good blues based rock!!!
Irish Tour '74.......2006-06-02
I actually like Live In Europe '72 slightly better, because it varies the tempo a lot more by throwing in a good mix of traditional acoustic blues songs. But for electric blues-rock cranked to 11, this is definitely as good as it gets. Live at Leeds Shmive at Shmeeds.
