I don't know too much about music. I own over 700 cds, but I don't play music and I don't have much experience with this music. My only point of reference was the ninth symphony, seeing as every other piece in this box set was new to me. It sounds fine, nothing wrong with it as far as I can see.

Now, here's what you'll get in this box set, seeing as Amazon does not give it a description. 40 cds! no joke, you get 40 cds in this box set. It features:
1. Complete symphonies
2. Complete symphonic poems
3. Cello concerto
4. Piano concerto
5. Violin concerto
6. Requiem
7. Stabat Mater
8. Slavonic Dances
9. Complete String quartets
10. Chamber music

As far as I can tell, the only things missing are The Spectre's Bride and Jacobin. Seeing as it is 40 cds, i have not had an opportunity to listen to it, however what i have heard i have been quite satisfied with.

    Some of these tracks were also found on a '76 K-Tel release called "Little Richard Live!", a collection of 20 re-recordings of his Specialty classics. The dubious historian, wondering if if Little Richard finally delivered the live album to end all live albums, wondered not too long once the needle hit the groove: if it was "live", then it was *live-in-the-studio*. (Or they used some serious directional mikes). Whatever the case, no audience can be heard on the Specialty sound-alike takes done in Nashville in 1976, which make up seven of the cuts offered here; the remainder are three Specialty originals, three Vee Jays, and one presumptive leftover from a 1971 session.
    There are many mediocre Little Richard remakes out there (on the out-of-print and in-print collector's market) but these '76 entries are worth hearing. Richard does a fine job recreating the original arrangements.
    "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", ofcourse an "oldie" by then, originating with the man who convinced LR to mail a demo to a certain record company in California, is a great rendition, with Richard really strutting his stuff on the medium shuffle - if you love his piano then this is the track you'll be playing for many years to come. Another '64 "cover" is "Going Home Tomorrow" (aka "Goin' Home") a terrific workout on the Fats Domino blues. Don Harris breaks out his electric violin on this gem.
    If you really want "Little Richard Live" then check out a recent set from Shout! with LR in top form in Boston from early '70; the "Okeh Club" set from '67, disappointing musically but containing some exciting parts; the apparently out-of-print "Let The Good Times Roll" from Bell Records - Richard with other acts from '72, again not what it could have been as Richard is given a full album side and gives us *three* cuts!; the lesser-known set from Modern, live in Atlanta, Georgia in '66, if you can take the grating (added) audience overdub. A great live segment is found on the European "Little Richard - The Specialty Sessions" Box which has June, '64 songs from a Paris venue. Finally, there is a set reported to be available, from Boston in '68 and '70, with poor to good sound on some numbers not immediately associated with The Quasar.

          This 17-CD set collects together in one box all the published orchestral works of Antonin Dvorak. It's neatly done: each CD is in a paper envelope and there is a 51-page booklet (with knowledgable and helpful notes for each disc) all fitted into a cardboard box no thicker than that ordinarily used for a two-CD opera recording. All this music has been issued previously on separate discs or sets by Naxos and most of it is, if I'm not mistaken, still available that way. But this collection is one easy way to scoop up all of Dvorak's orchestral music at once. There is much music here that is almost never heard, certainly not in the concert hall and even on CD. For instance, I cannot recall ever seeing a recording (and I know I've never heard in performance) Dvorak's 'Intermezzi.' And the rarely-heard 'Legends' are nicely done here by Stephen Gunzenhauser and the Czecho-Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Of course, the name of the orchestra tells you something: some of these performances were recorded before the breakup of Czechoslovakia into Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Yes, some of the recordings go back to the late 1980s. No matter - the sound is quite acceptable throughout.

          There are numerous participants in these recordings, many of them orchestras in the Czecho-Slovak area, as well as the Polish National Radio Orchestra, the Russian Philharmonic and even London's Royal Philharmonic (in a smashing performance, with Maria Kliegel, sure one of our best current cellists, in the Cello Concerto). Conductors include Gunzenhauser, Antoni Wit, Camilla Kolchinsky, Dmitry Yablonsky, Michael Halasz, Zdenek Kosler, Libor Pesek, and Robert Stankovksy.

          Obviously one wouldn't buy this set for the most familiar Dvorak pieces - the 'New World' Symphony, the Cello Concerto, the Slavonic Dances - if that was all one was interested in. There are too many fine performances of those already on the market. But how many of you have recordings of poorly known but top-drawer works like the 'Czech Suite,' the 'American Suite,' (it is fashionable to dismiss this suite, but it's actually one of Dvorak's best), or some of the orchestral music from his many operas--overtures to 'King and Charcoal Burner,' 'The Jacobin,' 'Kate and the Devil,' 'Rusalka'? All of these, and more, are here. I recently returned from a trip and the only music I took along was this box of Dvorak. I never got sated, or bored, by it.

          I was also quite taken by the performance of one of my favorite pieces by Dvorak, his 'Wind Serenade,' here played by the Oslo Philharmonic Wind Soloists. And there are marvelous performances by Gunzenhauser and the Polish NRSO of 'The Noon Witch,' 'The Golden Spinning Wheel,' and (a particular favorite of mine) 'The Wild Dove.'

          And then there's the super-bargain Naxos price. This is an easy recommendation for the music lover in the market for this specific collection of music.

          No wonder it is so cheap. Thank goodness I only wasted a few bucks. If you want to listen to the songs of Billy J. Kramer as you heard them on the radio when they came out, you will have to find another CD of the original recordings.

          This is perhaps the worst effort at re-recording hits that an artist ever made. It is almost like Billy J. Krammer tried to make a dog. I thought I had found a treasure. Popped the CD into my car player, and it was all I could do to keep from firing it out the window on my way home. However, it did not make it past the kitchen trash. If you are looking for Billy J. Krammer's hits -- make sure the songs are by Billy J. Krammer with the Dakotas.

          Being a fan in the 60's I bought this thinking it was the original hits in a greatest hits format. Instead it is a "many years later" re-recording. Bad to me is done using cheezy 80's style synth...sounds like Devo meets Billy J Kramer...totally messes up the song as with Little Children as well. I was very disappointed with this cd. I think when these 60's starts re-record theit music it should be clearer on the packaging.

            This budget priced CD from Canada has a cover photo of Herman's Hermits promoting their appearance at the prestigious "Talk Of The Town" theatre in London in 1969. This is highly misleading as the CD contains 10 re-recorded hits from 1976 and features bassist Karl Green on lead vocals, not Peter "Herman" Noone, who left the group in 1971. Green manages to bring a lot of authenticity to the lead singing, and projects the Manchester style and accent with great enthusiasm. The updated versions of "I'm Into Something Good" and "A Must To Avoid" are excellent! But if you want to hear the original recordings from the 60's, this is not the CD for you. A total playing time of only 25 minutes and 14 seconds is another disincentive to buy this CD.
