AMAZING! She is so much better live!.......2006-12-02
This CD rocks! This is Sarah Brightman on her Harem World Tour, and this performance was recorded at her stop in Las Vegas. The first two tracks, "Kama Surta" and "Harem Overture" debut from her newest album, entitled HAREM. The two tracks are connected, but in the actual Harem Tour, the full piece "Harem" is sung. If you go to www.youtube.com and type in "Harem Tour" in the Search Bar, you can see live videos. I would prefer that the album has placed "Harem" instead of these other two tracks. The third track, "It's A Beautiful Day", is from Madame Butterfly, written by Puccini. This version is Brightman's twist, which some more pop and some English. It's pretty cool. The fourth track on the album, "Dust in the Wind" is from EDEN, an amazing album. Track 5 is, "Who Wants to Live Forever", and it seems as though Brightman never creates a tour without putting this piece in it. It's a beautiful tribute to Queen's rendition. Track Six is "Anytime, Anywhere", also from EDEN. I'm not really into the Foreign Language - English songs, but this works very well, especially because she ends the song with the classical foreign language. The seventh track is Brightman's rendition of Dvorak's "Song to the Moon", or "La Luna". The track is beautiful! The eighth track is Puccini's "Nessun Dorma", and Sarah masters this beautifully! There is no other soprano I know that can sing this piece one octave up and can hold the ending note for ever!!! Track 9 is "The War is Over", which is followed by "Free", both from HAREM. Track 11 is "A Whiter Shade of Pale", from LA LUNA. It's beautiful to listen to. Sarah's version is very gentle, but has a lot of energy in the chorus. The twelfth track on this album is "Twisted Every Way", followed by an instrumental version of "The Phantom of the Opera" Theme. The next track is "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", which is extended at the end, in which you hear some men cry out "WE LOVE YOU SARAH!", and she responds cutely with an, "I love you, too." The audience laughs! Track 14 is "Time to Say Goodbye", the duet that made Andrea Bocelli famous, and skyrocketed as the number one single sold in German history! The last live track on the album is "A Question of Honour", from "Fly", which is awesome! The last track on the album is a bonus track, which I don't really prefer. However, the whole album is simply amazing. I much prefer Sarah when she is live. She has a more magical quality! If you love Sarah Brightman, then you will love this album.
ALSO RECOMMENDED : Since there is so much Sarah Brightman to choose from, I also recommend EDEN, TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, LA LUNA, CLASSICS, and DIVA.

Inspiring, Beautiful and The Sweetest Voice!.......2005-08-21
What an album, absolutly beautiful!
We, the fans of this great artist finelly have in our hands a live album, and it's amazing:
-The voice is totaly live, she sang about 24 complete songs in the show, but the album only contains 15.
-Snow In The Sahara is a lovely song.
If you have the chase of get this alubum, don't doubt and get it; It wond disapoint you!
astounding performance.......2005-06-07
an impeccable concert experience that successfully elevates the album to majestic heights. I had long been a fan of Dead Can Dance and the unparalleled work of Lisa Gerrard. When Sarah Brightman ventured into these Middle Eastern sounds on the Harem disc, I thought it was too derivative of the Dead Can Dance sounds (there is even a sample used on one of SB's songs that had previously been used within DCD).
However, experiencing this epic and intensely mystical concert compelled me to realize the individual and unique glory of Sarah Brightman. Also, this concert is so phenomenally entertaining at many levels that I couldn't help but fall absolutely in love with the special magic of Sarah Brightman. Obviously, the expansive Middle Eastern milieu can accommodate more than one angelic vocalist!
I now consider Lisa Gerrard and Sarah Brightman to be geniuses who both warrant goddess status in the pantheon of lyrical greats. To see either one of them perform live is surely one of the most powerful and memorable sensory experiences one could ever have!
Great, of course.......2005-03-18
Sarah's voice and style are terrific, as usual. However, I have to say that her version of Anggun's "Snow on the Sahara" is fairly bland, especially compared to the original Anggun version. Sarah has the chops but lacks soul on this great song. Everything els here is very nice.

Absolutely Pure & Beautiful.......2005-10-31
If you buy no other classical music, buy this collection. CD 1 (Relax) is perfect for dinner, quiet entertaining or just soft music while you're working. From "Come Away With Me", to "Whiter Shade of Pale" to "Knights in White Satin"... each piece is it's own movement - and moved you will be... Perfect for a romantic evening. CD2 is more robust, but equally entertaining. "Layla", "Livin On A Prayer", Stairway to Heaven", "Run to You" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" - you owe it to yourself to hear these licks performed by the RPO.
Symphonic Rock.......2005-07-25
It really isn't rock, but it is a very pleasant presentation of popular music, rendered in creative ways by a full symphony orchestra. It sounds like the orchestra had a great time making these CD's.
pleasant easy listening.......2005-07-19
It's not extremely interesting music, but nice background, relaxing and pleasant with full orchestra. Not a bad buy at all!
Excellent CD.......2005-03-20
I received this as a present and at first I wasn't sure if I would like it because I don't like some of the original songs, but there's something about hearing the orchestra play that makes me like all of them. Just try it out.

An old music-press adage claims that second albums are notoriously "difficult." If this were true, then Every Day should be one big disappointment. The fact that it's arguably one of 2002's finest jazz albums (yes, jazz--as in real, old-fashioned, clarinets-and-trumpets jazz) proves how talented Jason Swinscoe's Cinematic Orchestra are. Following up their impeccable debut, Motion, was going to be tough, but they've surpassed themselves here. While the former was a fusion of sample-culture smoky, backroom jazz, Every Day is jazz pure and simple--old jazz for the nu-jazz generation. "Man with the Movie Camera," "Burnout," and "Flite" are near-perfect soundtrack jazz pieces: epic, shuffling, ever shifting. "All That You Give" and "Evolution" highlight the enchanting vocals of legendary soul singer Fontella Bass. Best of all, though, is the Roots Manuva collaboration "All Things to All Men"--proof that jazz and rap aren't as strange bedfellows as some may think. It's spellbinding stuff and sure to be one of 2002's finer albums. --Matt Anniss
Album Description
Third record on the Ninja Tune label featuring the vocals from the legendary Fontella Bass and a spoken word performance from Roots Manuva. Across 7 sweeping, dramatic tracks, the group takes you through classic soul, jazz, choral pieces, minimalism and more.
Customer Reviews:
"EVERY DAY"...I LISTEN TO CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA!!!.......2005-09-16
Ninja Tune's forte is obviously delivering jazz in various forms--Tobin's drill'n'bass spin, DJ Foods beatnik, sampledelic angle, Bonobo's lazy-Sunday grooves and the Cinematic Orchestra...well, what can I say?...these folks bring it to you a'la old school jazz, embellishing beautiful "cinematic orchestrations" with exceptional vocals from Fontella Bass and Roots Manuva and a very rarely heard instrument, the harp. Every track here will appeal to lovers of Coltrane, Davis and other jazz masters, and make those who aren't jazz fans strongly reconsider.
About 35 years too late........2005-08-21
Admittedly, I thought "Motion" was an interesting little record, but a novelty at best. Real musicians playing electronic music constructed from old jazz samples. Fair enough. It sounded great driving around the city late at night, if nothing else. "Ascenseur pour l'echafaud" it was not, yet I could appreciate its mood and atmosphere.
"Every Day" is a sad and curious record, and one that will be painfully obvious to to anyone with a even a cursory knowledge of jazz music. "Mastermind" J. Swinscoe doesn't play any instruments here, so all that we're left to go on is his compositional talent. This consists of building ten-minute opuses around Jam-Band-101 bass vamps, milking credibility out of guest vocalists Fontella Bass and Roots Manuva, repeating the same two tired chords over and over, and considering the occasional odd time signature his idea of throwing the listener a "curveball." In short, nothing that hasn't been done before and with more taste and skill. Critics and reviewers love to point out that there are "real clarinets and horns" on the record, like it's some sort of musical revolution.
"If Coltrane was alive, young and contemporary... He would be doing stuff like this." Absolutely blasphemous. Are you out of your mind? Coltrane was about pushing the envelope, finding spiritual peace through music; his last records are some of the purest forms of artistic expression and integrity. J. Swinscoe is nothing short of a hack who would like you to believe that there is something inherently unique in having "live" jazz musicians play his music, like a modern-day Gil Evans. Funny, I thought this had been going on for over a century now.
Here are three records that Swinscoe doesn't want you to know about, because they're just a few examples of real musicians he shamelessly pulls from. Note the original release dates:
Alice Coltrane: "Ptah, The El Daud" (1970)
Herbie Hancock: "Sextant" (1973)
Pharoah Sanders: "Thembi" (1971)
Do yourself a favor and buy these exciting and unique records instead.
I give this record two stars for the musicians (who admirably made it through these sessions without falling asleep) and notably, Luke Flowers' drumming, that's it. What's perplexing is that Amon Tobin, one of the most incredible and brilliant electronic artists today, shares a place on Ninja Tune with this guy.
Sweet!.......2005-06-14
Not the standard, this album explores the uncrowded space of non-radio tunes. If you have an open mind toward music I recommend it. If you like listening to hip-hop that repeats on the radio every hour then you should look to the next Shakira album...
So good its ridiculous!!!.......2005-05-15
I have never taken the time to post a review before... that was until The Cinematic Orchestra came into my life. I now own everything they have done and only wish I could see them live. If Coltrane was alive, young and contemporary... He would be doing stuff like this. "Motion" is the first and purest... but "Every Day" and "The Remixes" are just as good. Just get it. This is what music is supposed to sound like.
Where have they been for all of my life?.......2005-04-27
Prior to my acquisition of this album, I had no idea as to who this group was. I was just starting to branch out with my musical tastes from 90's alternative rock, and the only jazz I knew of was Pat Metheny.
I was standing in a record store killing time before my bus came to take me home, and the "Man with the Movie Camera" track was playing. I was frozen in the aisle; I must have looked like a fool, but I could have cared less. I was engrossed in the music. After it was over I immediately found the only remaining copy in the store (after asking the clerk as to who they were), and I ended up missing my bus.
It was a fantastic introduction to a group that plays such an interesting style, and can pull you through a range of emotions. I now have all the albums they have produced, and I am looking to more artists on the Ninja Tunes label.
It is hard to find news on this group, but I cannot wait for their next release.
I would not call what they play "jazz", as I am loathe to pigeon-hole music into genres. It seems to me that after "pop", "hip-hop", "country", and any other Top-40 genre, jazz is what is left over. This does not give credit to the artists that can create such cool and innovative music.
Recommendation: Buy this album, pour a drink, turn it up and relax.

Solo album from the former Canned Heat guitarist is full of what Walter Trout does best--grungy, gritty guitar riffage set to killer grooves. That pretty much describes the best stuff here, including the opening title track, the rolling "Let Me Know," the funky "Say What You Mean," and the closer "Prisoner of a Dream," which adds horns and organ to the mix. Trout's also played with British blues elder John Mayall, and it shows in his solo work--he's got that blues-rock mix that is so typical of British blues, and so appealing when done well, as it is here. He's not quite as good at ballads; "Sweet Butterfly" wanders, and "Fool for Love" doesn't have as strong a base as the more uptempo material. On the other hand, "Through the Eyes of Love" shows that Trout can play guitar clean as well as gritty, and "Nothin' but the Blues" is solid from beginning to end. A strong entry overall, and perfect summer listening. --Genevieve Williams

Good CD!.......2005-08-25
This was my Firsr Trout CD, I will surely buy more after this!
It don't get no better!.......2004-10-11
I remember when that strat looked new!!! Small venues in LA with Canned Heat... absolutely awesome! And this man has only gotten better. Nobody works harder at entertaining a crowd with what they came for, hard driving blues played as cleanly as I have ever heard. Do yourself a favor, buy the CD, sit back, close your eyes and feel what Walter can do!
His second Best studio album!.......2001-12-18
This guy is unbelievable on guitar! you only get a fraction of what he can do on his studio albums, Live He will blow your mind!
although I think "Live Trout" shows more of how capable a guitar player he is, this is definitely a great album! I think "go the distance" is just a little bit better than this one but dont get me wrong this is a must have as well!
the title track has the coolest and most fluid intro, but the whole album rocks!
if you like the trout's whole rock/blues thing, check out Howard "Guitar" Luedtke and BLUE MAX He has kind of the same grungy rock blues thing going on, and just as much energy!
His best album (hard to believe he could get any better).......2001-01-05
Critics have said that Walter Trout plays too many notes. True, there's a lot going on in his solos, with notes coming at you faster than you could imagine, but they do have feeling, and are clear. Almost nobody out there can play as fast as Walter, and none can play at that speed as cleanly. The rest of the band, although good, is clearly designed around him. Anytime you listen to a Walter Trout album, you are in the presence of true greatness, so allow yourself to be pulled in. This is not background music.
If you buy this album, you will realize that I'm not over-stating his skill. There's a reason why he's quickly gaining in popularity in the States, and is a show-stopper at blues festivals. He and his band play long sets and with great intensity. God help the band that has to follow him.
There's one sure way to decide ahead of time if you'll like this album. Do you like a harder type of blues-rock? If yes, ANY Walter Trout CD will be a great purchase. If not, his stuff may be a little too much to digest. Not for the easy-listening or Britney Spears crowd.
I saw him play live in Cleveland recently, and it's even better that the studio recordings. Trust me, you have never seen someone work an electric guitar the way he does. It's a lot like watching Arnold, in the movie Predator, mowing down half the forest with an M-60.
I practice all the time, but I'll be 150 years old before I can do the same things with my Strat.
Stuck in a rut........2000-12-26
My first purchase of a Trout CD. If not for one major annoyance, I would have given this at least four stars. The problem? This guys solos are stuck in a rut. Each song starts off solid with a bang, but when the solo comes and the hammer-ons/pull-offs are piled on top of another, it ultimately becomes unlistenable. Eventually, you begin to realize that all the solos sound the same and take their toll on the overall project. It's a shame, because overall the group has a good sound and Trout has a fine Strat tone. This CD had potential. Unfortunately, Trout hasn't quite figured out that sometimes less is better.

The picture.......2006-12-11
I haven't purchased the CD but the picture of the inside of a church on the cover is not of a British church, like one would assume since it says its a recording of British choirs. This picture is of Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Just thought i'd let you know. I'll be honest; I'm one to judge things by it's cover and if the company took such care to choose a 'British' church for their British choir CD, I'm willing to bet the music is equally well selected... I'm being sarcastic. But I gave the product 5 stars because I didn't want to hurt its ratings just because i'm cynical. But check out the church if you're ever in Montreal, it's truly beautiful... here I'm not being sarcastic.

Spectacular!!.......2007-08-04
This Summer I had the experience of a lifetime hearing THE MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR live in concert. Nothing had prepared me for that performance ... that absolutely gorgeous, sensational wall of sound that shook one's body to its very core. When I purchased this recording I expected it to be just faintly reminiscent of the in-person experience, but it was/is so much more. Today's recording techniques replicate the choir's magnficent sound beautifully. And what a recording! The best of their sacred repetoire, a 21st century version of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and several wonderful 'popular' folk and broadway pieces as well. It is a true joy to listen to over and over again. My highest recommendation!
Perfect starter CD!.......2005-02-12
I'm surprised that no one has reviewed this CD yet. Released in conjuction with the Nationally-released PBS documentary "America's Choir" - this album is a perfect starting place for people who wish to have a sampler of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Serving as both a latter-day "greatest hits" and a stand alone album, this CD gathers six tracks from the Choir's recently released albums "Consider The Lilies," "Spirit Of America" and "Peace Like A River" and adds TEN brand new tracks recorded specially for this project, creating a perfect sampler of both the Choir's magnificent history and it's current sound. It highlights the strengths of the Choir's repetoire, from well-known hymns ("Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing") to patriotic standards ("Battle Hymn Of The Republic") to folk songs ("Shenandoah," "Bound For The Promised Land") and even some surprises, like the traditional Welsh anthem "O Home Beloved" and the "Fugue In C Major (Jig)" for organ and orchestra. A wonderful, wonderful CD, with startling changes in mood and tempo, but with the unifying artistry of the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Sqare.
