Amazon.com essential recording
With Parliament and Funkadelic in disarray, crazed overlord Clinton signed a solo deal with Capitol and released this, the first of four albums for the label. Updating the organic P-Funk sound with Prince-like synths and drum machines, Clinton came up trumps with the hilarious R&B smash "Atomic Dog" and the electro-funk epic "Loopzilla" (featuring snippets of Motown classics by the Four Tops and Martha and the Vandellas). Computer Games also took a skewed look at the growing soul sickness of Reagan's America, not least in the haunting and oddly beautiful "Free Alterations." A vital and prescient release. --Barney Hoskyns

Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19
Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.
My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.
The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Finally and Fulfilling!.......2005-10-28
Believe the hype, _Shining_ fans. These bits and pieces of music - volume 1 focuses more on "studio music and textures" of the themes devised for the film while volume 2 spends its allotted tracks on the more fully developed orchestra tracks - hold just about everything. I'll encourage you to follow that impulse/interest and add this work to your collection.
What do you get? Well, for me, the treat was volume 2's first track - the film's title track - Ms Carlos explains why Kubrick nixed it - but it is as haunting as the final draft that follows Jack Torrance's lil yellow bug to The Overlook climbing the Rockies. The other tracks are renderings and attempts to put the novel into music forms. The liner notes are great - like a listening session over coffee with the composer.
Both volumes are must haves for those of us all agog over the film's score (and scoring possibilities) but if you just want to hold a haunting, get volume 2 and put track one on repeat until you, that hag hottie in the tub, or your six year old's index finger hollers, "redrum!"
Settling Old Scores.......2005-10-10
This second volume of Wendy's lost film soundtracks concentrates more on her full orchestral scores. Although she achieved fame as a synthesist, one reason she succeeded so well is her knowledge of and attention to timbral colors and the placement of different voices -- in short, orchestration. It should come as little surprise therefore that when writing for a full orchestra she's fully accomplished and impressively skilled.
Synthesizer cues are also included, from early (1981) novelty demonstrations for Dolby Labs to later (1998) soundtrack work utilizing her state-of-the-art digital synthesizers.
As usual for her, voluminous liner notes detail not only the working methods behind each of the pieces, but also glimpses into the politics and disappointments that delayed the release of these tracks. How many composers could survive having a significant portion of their career locked away in a vault for 25 years?

I rated this a 5 as it's an excellent cd, although not quite my cup of tea. But the music is very interesting, and the quality of the cd is excellent. I only wish that they had packaged it in a jewel case though so that it would fit in my cd drawer with all my other cd's.

Mi-Sex album compilation.......2007-01-10
Some dubious mastering on this CD. The sound is very thin, could be software compression, and on some tracks (Blue Day in particular) the mix seems to be a mono sum of one stereo track because some key instruments and licks are very faint or missing entirely. Most likely because they were panned to one track of the original stereo mix - the track missing off this master!
The whole CD sounds like a bunch of highly and poorly compressed mp3's but better than nothing if you can't find a genuine master.
Classic from the '80's is Back in Print!!!.......2003-09-17
Space Race was a classic album when it was released back in the '80's. Fans of The Fixx, early Simple Minds, and Classix Nouveaux should relate well with this cd. This is synth tinged guitar New Wave. Mi Sex was a New Wave/New Romantic band from New Zealand that had a few hits " Space Race" and "Computer Games". I had both of these albums on vinyl and am quite happy to see these re-released on compact disc. For more info go to www.allmusicguide.com

Last Of The Mohicans.......2005-12-24
This entire CD is on the one. Of course "Atomic Dog" is the main cut, however "Man's Best Friend" is also a funky type of "Knee Deep" groove. "Loopzilla" is also a good song to dance to. The title cut "Computer Games" is as crazy as the artist. LOL. However, this album has a Funkadelic overtone. With musicians like Bootsy, Bernie, Mike, Junie, Eddie Hazel, Garry Shider and ect ect. it's worth buying. I think this is the best George Clinton album of all time. It's a R&B Clssid and for the life of me I don't understand why it did not make the national top 40. Even the title cut went to 80 something on the charts. Go figure. George did get a award for the best video of that year.
Go for ur funk
The Godfather Of Funk.......2004-12-30
Great CD, probably George's best solo CD. The stuff on the CD was copied by a lot of musicians (i.e. backward drum sounds, loops) and set the standard of using samples and loops in R&B (remember this was 1982!!). I just wish he would have put the unedited Man's Best Friend on this album. If you haven't heard it go get it! I think its released on a P-Funk compilation
Believe in Atomic Dog.......2002-03-03
Clinton's contributions to popular music are practically limitless; perhaps most importantly, he kept waving his freak flag high long after most musicians caved in to their labels' demand for conformity. Computer Games showcases his talent for squeezing archetypal beats and riffs out of his ever-changing cadre of musicians. Even though it was released in 1982, it still feels as fresh as tomorrow's flavor du jour. Try to keep from playing "Where did I hear that sampled?" and just let the funk wash you up and away to Clinton's psychedelic, sexed-up Disneyland. Every track's a winner.
Computers huh?.......2002-01-19
This here is a good album by George Clinton solo. It has some zany coolness and weirdy jams that we who like the P-Man get into but it has more than that. It takes a penetrating look into the life of Americans during the Reagan Administation; I say that because you're supposed to say something about Thatcher or Reagan in any review of an album from the 80's. I think it's really, truly relevant everytime that I see that written. If I was a professional critic I'd always be writing about Reagan. I always think, oh yes, this is about how I hated my life under Reagan and things were bad. Debaser by the Pixies, Thriller by Michael Jackson, heck, even Holiday by Madonna, all Reagan talk my friends. I'm also glad that I've finally realised that the more politically oriented political material from Clinton in the 70's was only looking forward to the evil empire which was about to envelop us all there for while. I wish this disc featured "the mystery track" though: Trickledown Boogie.
dog catcher dog catcher loopzilla baby.......2001-09-21
man when the mothership crashed in 81, funkateers were sad, but when this came out in 82, i'm like yeah funk is back, cause true funkateers got tired of hearing boring love songs by shalamar, luther vandross, freddy jackson, and debarge-this woke us up from the placebo syndrome, atomic dog was sampled by damn nera every rapper you can think of, i love get dressed another classic, like man's best friend, and loopzilla where the mob goes into flashbacks and name all their songs plus put some motown in it, could it be that george ghost written those songs, after all he did use to work at motown, like i said this was the start of the p-funk thang coming back 2 more cd's and the funk mob fell off again but not to worry, the funk still rode on, thanks to rap.

Album Description
Out of print in the U.S.! This is the 24-bit digitally remastered reissue of George Clinton's debut solo album, originally released in 1982. Although he didn't invent Funk, Clinton single-handedly took it to a new level that was, more often than not, out of this world! By the time he got around to recording this solo album, the Funk scene had gone underground and the charts were filled with Synthesizer-driven dance music. Clinton updated his Funk sensibilities and created a new style of Synth-driven Funk from Outta Space! Features seven tracks including the massive hit 'Atomic Dog'. EMI.

Amazon.com Review
"We hope that while browsing this adventure, you share with us this conviction: that multimedia can be the carrier of dreams, of humor, of memories, of peculiarity and of escape, in a world of emotions." --Eric Viennot, software creator
Well, we're happy to report that this imported French software from Lexis Numerique successfully lives up to its trippy ambitions. Ostensibly a "hunt" for treasure, this CD-ROM is a treasure unto itself, granting special rewards from the second you hear the first crinkly album page. Whether it takes you two days or two years to finally uncover the book's buried goods, you won't really care, because you'll simply be too immersed in the moody atmosphere, detailed textures, and compelling activities inside Uncle Albert's strange, yellowing tomb.
A sophisticated blend of video, audio, and visual elements, this great narrative quest begins with a flickering 16mm-style "film" of an elderly wild-eyed collector who--we learn in voiceover--spent all day "raising insects, counting stars, or building weird useless machines in his workshop." He was also a compulsive diarist who recorded all his stories and experiments in a large, ornate, 16-page album. Unfortunately, a small creature became trapped inside his album as well. It is your job to use a selection of the album's interesting tools (such as whistle, camera, fire, and watering can) to solve a series of thematic creative challenges and puzzles (such as space adventures and an ancient Egyptian archaeology dig), thus freeing the critter and earning the final treasure.
Full of scurrying insects, secret passages, and mysterious challenges, this CD-ROM will hook you and your kids for hours on end. The only misfortune in this product is the translation quality: certain words are completely incorrect ("sledgehammer" instead of "jackhammer") and others were very poorly chosen ("gun" where it should be "missile launcher"). Otherwise, this is a wise and wonderful product. It offers a perfect chance for children to learn that it's not where you're going that counts, it's how you get there. (Ages 9 and older) --Jean Lenihan
Amazon.com Product Description
Is Uncle Albert's wonderful treasure really lost? After finding his magical album up in the attic, you may think differently--that is if you can answer riddles, avoid traps, and open secret passages hidden in the fantastic album. The sneaky little creatures, fun tools, and strange machines you encounter from page to page may help you on your quest for the lost treasure. It is up to you to prove your intelligence, sense of observation, and skill. (Ages 9 and older)
