where it all began..........2001-11-03

Sure, the two albums following this may have been of better quality, but this is where it all began. Definitely worth having for anyone who can't get enough Strung Out, I had this one first, when it was first released, and I gave it the play time everyone now gives Twisted by Design. If you're like me, anything by Strung Out is worth hearing several times over -- even the old stuff. People just get spoiled by the new albums if that's what they know first, like anything else.

i used to own this album, but i sold it. For a strung out album and a fat band. It's actually not that good. It's lacks a lot of power that they have gained in the 3 realeases after this one. If you are a first time strung out buyer....buy twisted by design!!!! it is wonderful.

Back when this stuff WASN'T a dime a dozen.......2000-06-15

With the glut of awful skatecore bands plaguing the earth, it would be easy to pass off Strung Out as just another baggy-pants teenage fad. Well, this was their first effort for Fat Records, and their best. Back when they still had a slightly metal tinge to their sound that made them stand out. Nowadays, they're just another melodicore band in an overcrowded field of them, which is too bad. But many formerly decent bands have followed this path (Lagwagon) so it really isn't surprising. So if skatecore is your thing, any Strung Out album will do, but if you want to hear pre-"just another Fat band" Strung Out then pick this one up.

Strung Out - not this time.......2000-05-02

Although this is a good album in its own right, it just does not compare to Strung Out's latest album, Twisted by Design. Another Day in Paradise lacks the maturity and melody of Twisted by Design. I know that this was their first album, and gives a great insight into their talent, but if you want to hear a great punk album, I'd recommend that you by Twisted by Design rather than Another Day in Paradise. I own both albums, and rarely listen to Another Day in Paradise while Twisted by Design virtually lives in my CD player.

Only for old-school punk fans!.......2000-02-15

This CD wasn't great, i'll be honest. All i seem to hear from punk fans these days is how bands like NOFX, Lagwagon, Strung Out etc... started out good, but have just got worse and worse. In my opinion, these people could not be more wrong. How can anyone not like the new Lagwagon and NOFX cd's is beyond me. If people would just stop and listen to the melodies in such CD's then they would realise that change is not a bad thing. This CD was far too metal and not enough melody. Strung Out, stick to what you're doing at the moment!

Who knew that junkies had such good taste in music? Larry Clark, who brought us the lo-fi, haute-cool Kids, turns his lens to mid-'70s drug culture and the low-lifers who skitter through the bad days and good highs. Far from a kitschy '70s throwback, this CD is stuffed with eccentric soul songs of disarming charisma. Allen Toussaint's "Soul Sister" is a loping ode to thigh-high boots, hairdos, and other head-turning allures. Clarence Carter can describe his big, wide polka-dot tie as a hunting implement in "Looking for a Fox." And thank God Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle" will outlast the smirking Black Crowes remake. N'Dea Davenport does a lovely job remaking Bob Dylan's "One More Cup of Coffee," but while her expert singing can replicate some of his more savage vocal runs, Dylan's later appearance on "Every Grain of Sand" reminds us how inexplicably appealing his voice is. This is after-hours music at its smoke-filled-room finest. --Lois Maffeo

Brandy and Ray-J Not Good Duet Partners.......2002-03-31

Brandy, and Ray-J are not good duet partners, the first song they did together was cool. But this one, and the one they did on Brandy newest realease are not good.

I mean the song has very good lyrics, and I know it diffrent from Brandy, and Ray-J other songs. But Im' already not a big fan of Ray-J voice.

But the song is alright..I guess.

This is an excellent cover of phil collins - 'another day in paradise'. I love any music, from pop, hip hop, soul ballads, garage, to most rock. Simply Anything. This the best r&b single i have heard in a long time, if u dont count sunshine anderson. I wou;ld recomend it to anyone, even if ure not an r&b fan. ...

Bertie Higgins is amazing! His music takes you to places many of us have never been. Listening to his powerful voice, you hear his heart and soul. I find it hard to understand why this artist has been so under noticed.
