For Novice Fans Only.......2007-07-12
I surely remember this singer; I was a pre-teen when he was a popular singer. It's a shame that he never crossed-over like the late Luther Vandross did, but I'll take Freddie over any of these modern-day R&B singers.
This newest greatest hits is very good, with colorful photos, & an interesting essay by Rashod Ollison (who are also appearly little when Jackson first come out).
So why am I saying that this 18-track GH is for new fans of Freddie Jackson only? First of all, if you're a diehard fan of his, chances are you already got most of his best work. & do be aware that to fit the 18 songs here, many of the songs are single versions (LPs versions of Tracks 1,8,9,& 16 are much better then their shorten counterparts).
As for the novice fan, start out with this & then get his first two LPs "Rock Me Tonight", & "Just Like the First Time" both are still in print. Recently, Jackson released a new LP named "Transitions" from an inde label, & he's still singing like he did 20 years ago.

This guy doesn't receive half the credit he deserves. His music is full of substance and very pleasing to the ears. Hey Lover good track, as well as all the others. Very talented gentleman.
Freddie at his very best........2007-03-07
Freddie Jackson was one of the premier Soul balladeers of the 1980s and '90s. While it would be nice to see all of his Capitol CDs properly reissued in their entirety this collection is a fine distillation of his best tracks for the label. Freddie and his producers (Paul Laurence, Gene McFadden, Barry Eastmond, etc.) made musical magic each time they recorded new music and this CD offers the cream of the crop. An indispensable collection for all who love smooth and romantic Soul.

Customer Reviews:
His best from the Capitol years........2006-01-13
Freddie Jackson was undoubtedly one of the most important and influential male R&B vocalists of the 1980s and '90s. "Tasty Love", "You Are My Lady", "Do Me Again", "Hey Lover" and "Nice N' Slow" are classic ballads in every way. Unfortunately, some of his best songs were never issued as singles and are not included here. This IS a great collection but it's not as comprehensive as his 2-CD set anthology.
Blast from the Past.......2005-09-07
I love this CD. I know I'm showing my age when singing along to the songs in my car -- but it makes the commute so much more tolerable!!!
The Best.......2005-04-29
This is a must to buy CD. Freddie you are great. You define what music is all about, "Love" not "gang star"
Right.......2005-02-02
I think that Freddy Jackson is undoubtingly one of the best male artist of the 80s. He was so freaking great. Every song that he ever sung was great. There were alot of comparing to the great Luther vandross. But those guys were like Monica and Brandy were in the late 90s. Different but similar. He definitely deserves more credit then he ever got. Go Freddie
The Best Love Album.......2004-04-20
This cd is perfect! I'm not even in the 20s yet and I'm already enjoying Freddie Jackson. His voice is so soothing and touching, you can tell his feelings are real on every song! Not to mention that his songs are mesmerzing, the best ballads ever. All the songs on the album are really good and this cd is a MUST! This is one singer who can top Luther Vandross! You wouldn't be dissapointed at all.
