What an amazing CD. It is the type of CD that you keep playing over and over again, and you can't get the words of the songs out of your head. When I heard his CD for the first time, I was hooked...Freddy Pink's ( Gordon Yancey)songs made me feel...FEEL. I hope you all will take the chance..."In Search of Blue Water" ...Once I heard him sing some of these songs, I just had to own this CD.
The music on this CD deals with the stages of healing that we all go through when dealing with the day to day situations that life hands us...completing this CD became Gordons rite of passage through a very volatile time...some songs are happy, some are sad, others are reflective while others were intended to be self motivating and uplifting. They represent phases of life that he believes we all go through and need to go through in order to start over when that time arises. He believes to appreciate the highs in life one must also experience the lows, hence, he believes there is a reason.

This guy can sing !!! I feel like a kid in a candy shop everytime I listen to one of his songs...his CD is a must to own ! We all can see ourselves in his songs.

Lost and Found in your music.......2002-02-01

I read the liner notes as I listened to the title cut "IN SEARCH OF BLUE WATER". I cried as the music and the lyrics spoke to me in a most personal way. After reading what Freddy Pink wrote and hearing the pain in his delivery of this beautiful tune, I can only guess that we have suffered similar losses, and it felt nice to know that I am not alone. The material on this extraordinary find of an "INDY" album is both new and fresh yet somehow very warm and familiar. Freddy's diverse style slides on like a comfortable pair of old Levis. He moves from rich R&B through chunky bluesrock/country/folk in "RIDE THE WAVE" a very tasty acoustic guitar/slide guitar/mandolin thing, to the more up oriented Carribean bluesrock tune "YOU WERE THERE". His voice is smooth and entrancing one minute and raw the next. This man is obviously born from soul. He obviously means it, and I believe it. I want to hear more!!!!!!!!!!! I loved it!!

This CD was recommended to me by a friend who is going through a divorce. She told me that the album helped her get through some tough times and and that it might do the same for me as I am going through similar circumstances. I have to say, that it's not often that I am able to find a CD where I truly enjoy every piece. What Freddy Pink has created in this album will touch the hearts of anyone who has every suffered a loss. I believe Freddy is the real deal when it comes to honesty in art. I'm guessing by the lyrical content, and by the raw feelings that leap off of this CD, that producing "In Search Of Blue Water" must have been a real life experience. He discusses the pain that life can bring, but also gives a glimpse of the possibility of life at the end of the tunnel, and all in a very rootsy, R&B style. His more traditional R&B hooks are contagious and lifted me up, and his soft guitar ballads made me cry. You moved me Fred!!! Thanks for the honesty. I can't wait to hear your next release!
